The approximately 750 square foot Charles Naegelin Hüs includes a full updated kitchen and bathroom, a dining / living / office open area, and a private bedroom. For your use, there is a queen size bed in the bedroom and a comfortable pull-out couch in the living room (it has an extra mattress pad layer on top). We do not provide cable; however, there is Wifi, a television, a "smart" DVD player (so you can sign into your Netflix account), and a sampling of DVDs that guests are welcome to use.
In the backyard, we have a tree-covered patio area with a picnic table for you to enjoy. Or, check out one of the great restaurants in town! We are a short walk from the Alsatian, the Mangolia Filling Station (coffee house), Castroville Cafe, and Fremdes. If you're in town for an event or festival, we are conveniently located one block from Koenig Park, two blocks from Serendipity, and four blocks from Houston Square.
Cleanest place I have stayed. This was very cozy and full of nostalgia. I would stay again without a doubt.
Alsatian house remodeled and very beautiful decor. All the comforts available for modern living. I will definitely reserve it again in the future.
Just wanted a place to spend the night for evening and morning dove hunting and was surprised with this jewel of a rustic but very well taken care of home that was perfect for the occasion. Jenna and Adam were very attentive and eager to help with any request and we were even surprised with a very unique gift! Will definitely stay again if another reason arises!
Quite comfortable and far superior to hotel stay.
The house was wonderful, better than the pictures even! The location is perfect and the town was a nice surprise! Great history and beautiful homes all over.
Wonderful & cozy
It was an excellent experience. Had no problems and management was very helpful. Beautiful location for a nice getaway and some alone time.
Thank you for such a peaceful and beautiful place to stay! My sister in law and I absolutely enjoyed spending the night in this historic home. It was truly a treat to meet you as well! We are looking forward to next December already, three is a charm!
Easy process, friendly hosts, clean and cute property. Will definitely stay there again if need be.
This little cozy place in Castroville is amazing. If you are looking for a place to stay it should be your first pick. Amazing, clean and comforting. I felt welcome the first moment I stepped on the property.
I have a son who lives in NY. While that appears sometimes to be the craziest/busiest life ever...my life in San Antonio sometimes appears to try to match it. My recent stay was in the middle of an extraordinarily busy week/weekend. This property and my contact with the owner could not have been more welcoming. It was in every way a perfect getaway. A definite plus was it put us one block away from Koenig Park, where my husband's family had an annual family reunion. And more importantly provided the cozy, calm, comfortable, caring (with wonderful details addressing all needs) environment so much needed at that time. The owners provide a home with a delightful Castroville history. With it's close proximity to San Antonio my husband and I plan to return just because … that is, just because it is always good to find a great place to go to replenish your soul.
Spotless, friendly, charming, comfortable complete wit a friendly cat wandering around. These hosts defines service. Great value with a great location. Ez walk to anywhere.
The owners have converted a former artist’s studio, combining the rustic structure with modern convenience, all the while using a designer’s touch. The photos simply do not show how charming it actually is. It is located separately behind a 19th century residence in the unique historic district of Castroville, an Alsatian immigrant community. Everything in the historic district, including the self-guided walking homes tour and the churches, are within walking distance. Also, if you’re going to any weddings or events at Koenig Park, it is only a few short blocks away. It’s a great size for two people, but 2 couples or a small family would be comfortable as well. Relax, kick back, and enjoy small town life in a really neat place.
This was a wonderful experience. The full package was completely perfect down to the neighbors friendly cat. I loved everything.
This is one of the best VRBO/Airbnb style places we’ve ever stayed in. Super clean and tastefully decorated. It’s a historic property with a modern remodel. Our family (2 adults and 2 children- 2 and 5) were very comfortable for 2 nights. We Went to SeaWorld and a wedding at Hoffman ranch. Everything was convenient to this location! We put the kids in the bedroom and we slept fine on the pull-out couch. Jenna and Adam were very nice and easy to reach- we asked for recommendations on places to eat and also permission to have my mom come change clothes before the wedding. They were overly nice and accommodating. Would highly recommend and we will keep in mind for any return trips! You have to stay at this place :)
Loved this little house, perfect for our quick trip to the SA area! Thank you!
My family and I were charmed with this little gem of a VRBO. The home is set up nicely and nicely restored. You can tell the owners care for this home. We enjoyed the Alsatian restaurant that was recommended in a list of things to do in town they provided.
We enjoyed this little cozy home so much that we will be back soon.
We were very pleased with our choice and will stay here in the future. Well equipped with wonderful and welcoming hosts.
Castroville, Texas is such a cute town. But staying at this B&B made the trip complete. Such a lovely place to stay and the host was amazing. I was treated with Haby’s treats and such easy check in and check out instructions. I absolutely would recommend this to anyone who is visiting.
