Everything was very good, except mattress
My family choose this property because we were looking for a private quiet place. The property is listed as a 200 year old farmhouse on 70 acres of private land. When we arrived we found a single key in the middle of the table with no phone numbers of anyone we could contact. At first sight it seemed quaint. We were looking forward to enjoying the pool & the mancave which was listed as a favorite. The pool was clean. The mancave was unusable, pool table was in very bad shape with ripped felt and missing a pocket for the balls to go into but they put a bucket to catch the balls. The floor was in very bad shape where it sunk in spots enough to make the pool table unusable. The mowed part of the property had broken water bottles, garbage in the fire pit from past renters. We found dirty underwear near the pool among other debris. The house was very dusty. We had a family member in our small group who is a fireman & he checked all smoke detectors. Some were without batteries & some not hooked up. My husband and I took the upstairs bedroom which was bigger than the other bedrooms with a couch so we could relax and read in the evening. The couch was full of pet hair and the comforter we had to put away because it had spots on it. We had to go out and buy mouse traps due to the fact that our first dinner there we were greeted by a mouse that fell onto the stove during the day. We also had a rather cold night and the temperature reached 59 degrees in the house. No HEAT. You would think that a advertised private setting would be private; not so, there are two rather rundown trailers very close to the house & they share your driveway. The final straw; looked forward to having a fire with the kids during the week. We tried 2 times and on both occasions we had to go in the house because there were loose dogs that came over and scared the kids. The owner claims she doesn't know who they belong to but we saw 2 of them in one of the trailers and the large dog at the other trailer. So if your looking for that private well maintained place to stay this wouldn't be for you. Also the pictures in the advertisement are from June of 2013. We reached out to the owner and felt we deserved a partial refund and the owner replied with NO REFUND of any sort. Lots of money spent for the week and walked away feeling like we got ripped off. Will not return to this property or any of their other properties.
The house is perfect for family vacation, the kids have a lot fun. I love the rustic space and we can enjoy the natural environment!!!
Everything was great. But the downstairs bathroom has no cold water
The house is in a good location, all the top points of interest around Lake George are about a half hour away. The house was well suited for adults and children. We had a fire every night and the kids enjoyed the barn, Man Cave. The house was large enough that we weren't on top of each other. There could always be improvements but nothing was bad. Cell service is very limited but it's the area. Constructive criticism: it would be nice if the WIFI password was written down, just easier to read and find. Also, general instructions for the remote. We did figure out both but it just would of been easier if readily available . I would recommend if you are staying there to bring a radio if you are out by the fire. The WIFI is slow so music did come and go. Overall, we all had a lot of fun and that makes a nice vacation!
The house was well suited for a big family (9 of us), large and roomy allowing us to spread out. The pool was great and enjoyed by the kids and adults alike. The setting was beautiful and the neighbors were friendly. The house was really clean but definitely needs some TLC. It has a great rustic feel but some things are run down and old. The dryer was not working, the downstairs bathroom was leaking and while we could connect to the wifi (There is no cell signal, which we expected), we could not access the internet and communicate via cell till we got to Warrensburg. Another frustration was the lack of response of owners to messages. although they did pass by the house on a couple of occasions, messages were never answered. All in all, we had a great vacation and enjoyed our time at the house.
Glenda was great to deal with. She responded to all my questions. And the house is really nice and very comfortable.
The house was large and comfortable for our group. No cell service in the area but we expected and didn’t really mind. The host was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this house. A few nits...A lot of decorations so we had to move some to the side in order to utilize the space. Ground level bathroom faucet was flipped between hot and cold water...so hot water comes out of the faucet that says cold.
I loved the house and the property. It was more then I expected. There was more then enough room for my family. The pool area was so beautiful and we had so much fun there. The Fire Pit and area around it was soooo spacious. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a beautiful place for any occasion. I hope to rent it next year for my family reunion. Had the most wonderful time.
Everything broke hot water doesn’t work bathrooms flash doesn’t work dirty everything.this house rewinds my family vacation.
This was the second time we used the house for a family reunion with 12 people, including 4 young children who enjoyed the pool and spacious yard. We also had another adult and two children during the days. All is very cleaned and well cared for. Our family loved it.
I would definitely recommend this house to my friends. It's very spacious and was secluded . I had the most perfect birthday weekend with my nine other friends . Would definitely come back and rent from them again .
We stayed here for 3 days. It was an amazing experience. The owner Glenda is an awesome host. The house was decent and pretty clean. We were 15 people, had enough space for all of us. There was enough supplies in the kitchen, rooms and in all the bathrooms. The attraction places are not very far from the house. The wild water river rafting is only 10 minutes away. Hence, a lot of traveling time was saved. Overall it was an extraordinary stay. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family.
The house was nice from the outside but really dark and cluttered inside, full of “antique” but useless furniture. It is also far from most Lake George attractions. Flies were everywhere when we got there, despite the owner being in the house at that time. There was no wireless service in the house but there is wifi, which we had to look for and eventually found inside one of the bedrooms (password was located underneath the unit). The floor of the pool was slimy, there was not enough cookware and utensils in the kitchen. We had to ask for more gas since there was only a little in the tank and we had to provide for paper towels and toilet paper as there was not enough for our 3 days stay. We paid for 4 days but stayed only for 3 due to a change in plans but we were okay not staying the entire time as there is really nothing special about the house and the location.
Great experience. Will recommend. We hope to come back.we were here for five days.We should have come for ten.
pros: nice outdoor property in a pretty setting. Gazebo, campfire site, nice pool. Roomy house with air conditioning, and it was hot! Cons: No phone line or cell service (verizon or sprint), which was not disclosed in VRBO listing, but neither was indoor plumbing and electricity. We feel phone is a modern utility reasonably expected. Also its a huge safety issue because you can't call 911, No way to call for reservations at area attractions or restaurants either. House has land line but owner/manager refused to connect it. No smoke detectors! House is old! Renter beware! Owner/manager wasnt available for her tenants. No way to contact her (see above phone issue), No welcome book of instructions for how to connect to the spotty wifi, deal with the trash (12 people for a week make a lot!), or any other issue that might arise. The phone number with the VRBO listing connects to a fax, and the second number we obtained for a t mobile cell was not in service. Even if we could reach her, she couldn't call back! House is run down. Plumbing needs work! Master bath toilet doesnt fill automatically any more. Shower in first floor bath sprays water from the faucets everywhere. Upstairs hall bath sink is coming off the wall. Kitchen sink leaks. The one good sized pot the kitchen has is under there to catch the dripping water. There were inadequate pots and pans to meet the needs of a group our size. Many of the beds mattresses needed to be replaced. The springs were sprung. We were disappointed with our experience and wouldn't recommend this place especially at its price.. We've stayed at other Adirondack rentals and had much better experiences with the homes and the managers.
Nice and cozy house with a lot of space. We stayed there in January and the house was very warm, the hot water was hot and plenty for 11 people. Owners were friendly and helpful.
We just got back from our annual family vacation. We had 13 adults and 5 kids and we had a great time .. We had space for everybody and then some .. We were all able to fit in the pool which was a blast .. At night we had fun trying to get our bonfire lit. Lake George was a quick ride away and it was such beautiful weather. Overall we had a wonderful trip.
The house has so many things wrong with it. The plumbing is old and not working properly. The house is old musty and not up to the standards based on the rates they charge.the Brook is a 20 minute walk through the woods behind a rented trailer the owner also owns. This was not disclosed nor the 2nd trailer and they both share the driveway to access their properties. The pool is unkept. The 5 star ratings must be from friends because there were so many things that went wrong with our stay, I would give it NO stars. Renter beware!
Every year, a big group of friends from college get together for a weekend during the summer. This summer we chose to rent this cabin and we made the absolute right choice. The property was huge, clean, well-equipped, and had a ton of rustic character. We spent the weekend cooking meals - and we were excited that there was enough seating for all 11 of us to sit and dine together both inside and outside. The sleeping spaces were expansive and well appreciated - there were three bathrooms so none of us ever felt cramped. We also spent time playing lawn games, swimming in the pool, having bonfires, playing cards, reading on the wrap around porch, and jogging and biking nearby. The owner was very attentive and all of our needs were met - even in the little things like swim towels, decks of cards, and a crockpot! This weekend will give us happy memories for decades.
We wanted a place with multiple bedrooms, dog tolerance and the right location for a family reunion. For 3 nights, 12 of us stayed in the house, with another 8 visiting during the day. There were 8 children from 5 to 11 during the day, and they had a wonderful time. The swimming pool was a favorite. The owners kindly provided table space and chairs for all 20 to sit down together at meals. The house is nicely kept and the grounds provide plenty of room for playing. The house itself is huge with plenty of space without everyone feeling they are on top of each other. The house was clean and comfortable. We would use it again. We recommend it.
I generally do not write reviews, but after reading that one negative review, I feel the need to respond. This home is a wonderful place to stay. We are a 4 generation family and had an amazing long weekend together. The home is clean and very comfortable. Everywhere we turned there was something lovely to explore. The 5 children of all different ages had a great time being together. We are planning on returning this summer and now there will be 7 children (2 more additions this past year), as well as an extended family of parents, grandparents and even a great grandma (14 of us all together). We feel so fortunate to have found such a lovely place for all of us to be together and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
It's a beautiful house . We loved it so much.
First time visiting the Lake George area and needed a place that slept many. The house was huge. Loved the man cave too, it is a great idea. Went with my whole family and it was great! Glenda was awesome and helped out with anything we needed. Highly recommend staying here. Lake George and Six Flags are both nearby; 20 minute drive for both attractions. Great for all ages. It was an awesome time overall in a very hospitable house.
Great house, very rustic & definitely very comfortable. The weather was cool for our stay, and the house offered a great feeling of warmth & relaxation. Very quiet. Recommend for anyone looking for some solitude, but just a short drive from Lake George.
This place is huge!!! I can't believe what an amazing time we had, the pictures is not enough to show the beauty of this place. Thank you for providing such great accommodations for my family and I. Everyone had a magnificent time, really getting some time to relax and spent some quality time together. It's closer to Lake George than we thought. I arrived with a party of 18 and there was still enough room for everyone to have their own privacy in this house. The guys would not leave the mancave, it was an awesome set up. Thank you again for keeping everything so spectacular for us, It looked like a lot of hard work the way you kept everything so perfect and had everything we needed right in the place. There was no reason to get off the property, we were able to walk over to the brook behind the house and it was gorgeous, I only wish we had more time to spent there! Thank you for everything.
My family and friends spent a long weekend at the house and we really enjoyed it!!!!Glenda and her husband were quick to respond to any questions and the reservation/payment process was simple. The house was much larger than it appeared in photos. The house is old but very clean. The swimming pool was great and very clean. We had a wonderful time staying at house and it was easy to work with Glenda and her husband. They made sure we had everything. One night we run out of BBQ gas but the next morning Glenda brought a new one!!! Definitely will consider staying here in the future.
