Charming Country Lodge

We rented this for a quick family getaway. The location is nice and private. The house fit 2 adults and three children perfectly. We enjoyed looking at the stars at night. You can’t beat this view. We loved having coffee while watching the sunrise. The inside is so comfortable and has all you need. Nice TVs, comfy couches and recliner. Very comfortable and clean beds. If you are staying in the Castroville area and want a private comfortable clean place to stay...this is the one! Also check out Cora’s, it’s right up the road not even a mile or so. Best nachos and beer. Can’t wait to stay here again.

Christmas Getaway

We stayed with our family and had a great time! The house is perfect for a group with plenty of space to run around outside. We stayed with our family and my sisters family. We each have kids and the kids really enjoyed the property as well. This is a great getaway location.

This cabin has a great floor plan and everything you need, including a hair dryer. The master bed was extremely comfortable. The dishwasher was not working during our stay so we had to wash the old fashioned way. Luckily, we enjoyed the view of the cows from the kitchen window! If you arrive in the evening, bring a flashlight because there is no outdoor lighting. We had to call the owner a few times about a minor issue and he was extremely responsive. We will stay here again.

Perfect little family get away!

We had the best time at this beautiful listing! We wanted to get away for weekend while still social distancing from large groups, this was the perfect spot! My mother has dementia and it is difficult to get her out during this time and what a beautiful trip! Each morning we woke up to enjoy the beautiful sunrise with a cup of coffee (Don't worry if you forget to bring the coffee they graciously have some available and it was my favorite kind!) My son and I explored the farm and walked around talking and enjoying each others company as we searched for cows, we had a blast! Saturday morning we made the short drive to the community park to ride bikes and even made it to the free swim, we were the only one's at the pool! Evening included eating as a family on the front porch while laughing and making memories! Sunday morning I took a 20 mile bike ride along the HWY next to DeL Mar Farms and it was gorgeous! This was the most perfect weekend and I'm so glad we decided to book this gem! We will definitely book this location again, as my children were already making plans to stay there for the fall! The host was great, and answered all my questions through text! Book this listing now, you won't regret it!

Lovely house on secluded property.

Nice and quiet!

Lovely farmhouse setting with cows grazing on other side of fence. Very quiet and serene, close to town and close to all that San Antonio has to offer, as well as other Hill Country locations. I reported two of the electric recliners not working, and I'm sure owner will address, as he was very communicative. Note there is no internet or wifi here. Very relaxing stay.

A great family getaway!

It was so nice to be away from suburbia for a few days and enjoy the solitude of this pleasant little ranch house. It had enough room for the six of us and we enjoyed grilling outside and walking around the property. The drive to San Antonio is quick as well.

Wonderful spot for a quiet, relaxing vacation!

We really enjoyed our stay at Del Mar Farms! It truly is a great location; close enough to the attractions in San Antonio, but also among the quieter beauty of the Texas Hill Country. John was very responsive and helpful, and the other workers who were occasionally around were friendly and respectful as well. And the kitchen was one of the better ones I've experienced, with plenty of dishes, utensils, pots, pans, spices, condiments, and a few basic pantry items. Would definitely recommend!

We enjoyed our stay at this quaint home. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils. Walmart is a few minutes drive for groceries. The kids loved the loft and spent a lot of time out in the front and back yards, too. The drive to SeaWorld, zoo, downtown was not bad at all. The home was a perfect retreat after spending all day in town.

Del Mar Ranch House

Very nice house! Clean and comfy. The only thing we ran into was a lack of blankets. There were 7 of us and a couple of the ladies were cold natured needing to bundle up with the AC on. Would highly recommend to others.

Great getaway.

Totally enjoyed this house - great yard for the grandkids to play and so peaceful and quiet - also was amazed at the local bar and grill right down the street had dinner there -they had live music and great food .

Spectacular ranch setting

We had an incredibly enjoyable stay. At night we opened the windows and felt the clean country air while listening to the yipping of the coyotes. The house was clean and comfortable. John Garza was a friendly and very accommodating host.

Our girls loved the loft with separate beds so they didn’t have to share. Provides everything you need. Beds were so comfy. Great location close to everything but far away you can relax and have some quiet time too. Will be back!

Cozy for the holidays!

The stay at this ranch home was great! The home is exactly the same as the pictures. We were greeted by a herd of cows as soon as we got there. The kids loved it! It was not too far from Seaworld. We stayed the weekend before Thanksgiving. The weather got chilly, but were able to keep warm inside the home. The only issue we had was running out of hot water twice. So I wouldn't recommend more than 3 or 4 people showering back to back. Also the water drains slowly in showers. Other than that everything was great. We would definitely stay again!

Best decision we made!

This house is everything the description says and more. We could not have had a better experience. We stayed for our daughters BMT graduation. This house was a quiet secluded retreat from the long days activities. It was only 20 minutes away from the base and so conveniently located. I would highly recommend this house to anyone. We have talked about coming back to San Antonio just to stay here again! The house has anything you could need and wal mart is about 3 miles away. It was so convenient to be able to wash clothes and cook meals without having to go anywhere but if you want to the riverwalk and Alamo are a quick 30 minutes away. This house allowed our family to stay together for the cost of one hotel room instead of the 2 rooms we would have had to get AND we stayed in a much nicer atmosphere than we would have had in a hotel room. If you are looking to book a place to stay during BMT weekend rest assured this is the place!

Great place to stay for when you have an Airmen graduating!

We enjoyed this home. Great space, well maintained, really comfortable beds. Towels were awesome! Loved the cows and the mule, they come right up to your car. Although the owner will keep them in a separate paddock if that isn't your thing. I loved it. Not far from Lackland AFB. I believe it was 23 minutes away. Great place to eat just minutes away (go right out of the long diveway). You can actually see the place from the house. Walmart within 5 minutes so easy to get supplies needed. We would stay there again.

Perfect place to reconnect with family!

This home was just like a storybook cottage! The house was spotless, the beds were unbelievably comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was beautiful. We were able to get away from the world and actually spend time together, laughing and talking. The cows were great, but the mule/donkey was the best...my kids keep asking if we can have one. I wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for a wonderful stay, we will return.

Charming Farmhouse within driving distance to anything you would want to do.

I don’t write reviews usually but I feel compelled to do so here. Vacationing at the farmhouse gave my family an experience that a hotel would have lacked. First of all the farmhouse is beautiful and as nice and clean as any of the nicest hotels. My kids had experiences of hearing the cows and roosters in the morning. We took a walk on their property and ventured out and heard a deer or a fox quickly run by. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful so much so that one morning I was awoken by a blazing orange sun peaking into a midnight blue sky. The next morning my children and I rose early to see the sunrise and sat their for nearly an hour just enjoying how pretty it was. Their is a family of hummingbirds that love the orange flowers on the front porch. We thought it was only one but later on the morning of the sunrise we saw that it was 4. I have never seen that many hummingbirds in my life. Truly special! So you see this place is blessed. It was amazing. I only wish I could upload some photos. It was a blessing and refreshing to stay here. Thank you Mr and Mrs Garza for the care that you took in preparing the home.

Beautiful secluded home

Our family loved our stay. The property was beautiful and clean. We loved the fact we were only 20-25 minutes from all the activities in San Antonio our family enjoys. Beautiful design and location

This house was absolutely amazing. It has the perfect mix of country and city. The house is tucked away giving you lots of alone time but close enough to the city so you can be busy during your entire trip. I would definitely book this house again, and I already recommended it to all of my friends.

Vacation Ranch House

Beautiful home(updated), very clean and well taken care of. Nice secluded area, very quiet and peaceful! Only 5-10 minutes from Walmart and nearest gas stations. Would stay there again, and recommend it to anyone.

Best place we have ever stayed at on any vacation

My wife and I cannot say enough about our stay. We were in for your daughters graduation at Lackland Air Force Base on May 29- June 3. We heard a lot of stories from different people about all the crime around the hotels surrounding Lakeland. So we decided to look into a rental vacation home. So glad we found this home. It’s a short 15 minute drive to Lackland Air Force Base. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants are all within five minutes of this home. House is very secluded. On the way to get to the house is through a cattle gate which is located at the end of the driveway. The gate is locked at all times by combination lock. There’s no other way to the house but through that gate. Gives you an extra sense of security. My son had fun opening and closing the gate for us. It made him feel like he was a ranchhand. The house is completely fenced in. The yard is very well-maintained. Gorgeous shrubbery all around the house is home to several local butterflies and birds. The home is fairly new and very clean. There’s a master suite downstairs and two extra beds upstairs in the loft. Also there’s a bathroom and shower upstairs. And a very large master bath and shower downstairs. Home has a washer and dryer which is very convenient. We only had to pack three days worth of clothes for seven day trip. We just washed as we needed. The beds in this home are so comfortable my wife and I slept better than we do at our own home. Everything is top notch in the home. The bedsheets, the bed cover, the pillows and pillowcases, are all high quality and very clean. You will not find a nicer place to stay for the price you have to pay for this home. We were absolutely thrilled once we walked in. Our airman loved the home. All she wanted to do was stay there and sleep and eat and hang out on the back porch. This was the most relaxing vacation my wife and I and our son have ever had and it was all due to the ambience of this home. As for the owner John, what a wonderful person to deal with. He was very prompt in responses to any questions we had. He never came out to check on the property one time. He left us alone to do our thing and trusted us to leave the home as we found it. If you’re looking to stay in the San Antonio area for any type of vacation especially a BMT graduation at Lackland, please please please do not overlook this home. My son will be joining the Air Force in two years. And there is no question as to where will be staying.

Wonderful getaway from Houston

Very clean, beautiful country house. Great privacy and lots of fun hiking around the acreage. Love listening to the birds instead of I-10 traffic - ever so peaceful.

Great retreat away from the hustle of San Antonio but close enough

This place is great! Clean, nice, and oh so peaceful! Big TVs, comfy beds, upscale decor. Owner (John and family) were very responsive to questions we had before arriving. Would definitely recommend this place and if we return to San Antonio, we will be checking availability of this house!

Perfect family get away

We absolutely LOVED our stay here, we came up here to celebrate my nieces 7th birthday and after two loonnng days it was so nice to come to such a beautiful place and RELAX. Would defiantly recommend and would love to come back given the chance to. Our favorite part had to be the cows moo'ing at us in the mornings, haha. Such great owner communication as well !

Beautiful spacious home!

We absolutely loved our stay at John’s beautiful farm house! He was very kind and quick to respond to any questions we had. It’s far way from the hussle and bussle but convieniently close to few restaurants and Walmart. We drove just a few miles to a Trial Park which was very enjoyable. We picked up few groceries to make breakfast and their fully stocked kitchen had everything we needed. Kids loved the stair way and having a bathroom upstairs as well was a plus! Couches recline to an almost laying position which was great to enjoy movies on their huge TV. All the beds are so comfortable and they even have an extra queen size air mattress which I didn’t expect to use but our little one wanted to sleep on it instead of on the bed with his older brother, which worked out perfect so we didn’t have to worry about him falling out of the bed. :) We explored a little around the farm and got lucky to see numerous of the cows grazing just by the fence line. We had an amazing time! Definitely would recommend this beautiful farm house and if we ever need to come back to San Antonio this home will be on our top list to book! Thank you again John!

Stay here! Don’t hesitate to book this charming property. Peaceful serene grounds. Charming house with beautiful landscaping. True Texas experience!! Out in the middle of gorgeous pastures but just a few minutes drive to restaurants, gas stations and Walmart. The drive into San Antonio is easy and quick. You will regret not choosing this place!! Stayed here with my teenage daughter and her friend- and they loved it!! John is courteous and easy to deal with! Perfect vacation trip!!

The PERFECT little get away!

This place was amazing! This place offers a very quiet get away after spending the day in the city. It is only minutes away from anything you need (Walmart, gas stations, food and etc.) and less than 30 minutes away from Sea World and anything else you want to do in the city. John and his wife are extremely easy to work with and very quick to respond with any needs you may have.

Great place!

We were looking for a quiet stay away from the city and we found this place. It’s a home away from home. Just the right size for a family of 6-4 people. The 2 bathrooms were showers only, which were fine with us but if you’re looking for bath tubs or jacuzzi this is not a place for you. The beds are very comfortable but the pillows aren’t so you might want to bring your own. We highly recommend this place for some peace and quiet.

This is a great place to rest and relax

I don’t think the pictures do justice on this rental. My family enjoyed staying here and will come back. This is a new rental with new appliances fresh and clean. We rented to visit Lackland training base and plan to be back for graduation. Of course this is a farm so children will want to venture out as it is fenced with open areas. Plenty of windows to view all around the property. Thank you for allowing us to stay at this property I bet when spring comes around the colors and greenery will be even better. Great place.
