It is a very private 3 BR, 3 BA estate located on a blissful, blue lagoon in the most romantic of settings. This three-quarter acre estate has over 60 coconut trees on it with beautiful landscaping to enhance your privacy. It is less than 25 feet to the spectacular, seldom used, secluded, crescent sand beach of Aliomanu Bay. Aliomanu Beach is known as 'the gateway' to the North Shore. The beachfront lagoon is protected by surrounding reef, making it ideal for water sports (snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, etc.). These waters are safe for youngsters as they have keiki tide pools near shore.

For ideal family reunions and small weddings Secret Cove Villa can also be linked with the enchanting Secret Cove Cottage (listing #307171) which is on the south end of the estate. In this way you can be near your guests, but have comforting privacy on those special occasions.

From the bedrooms, living room and kitchen you have stunning views of the beach and ocean due to the home's 100 ft long wall of glass facing the ocean! The front lanai runs the length of the 100 ft long home so you have sweeping wide ocean views in both directions. Be sure to enjoy the comfortable deck lounge chairs and dining table set.

The incredible sunrises, sunsets and moonrises that you can see from the home are mesmerizing. Just imagine yourself sitting on the lanai with a morning cup of coffee or an evening drink listening to the ocean sounds and the splash of colors in the skies.

Inside the villa there are high-end upgrades throughout. The home is tastefully furnished for your every comfort and is decorated with Asian accents. Granite counter tops are used throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. The gourmet kitchen has upgraded appliances with all the essential amenities. If you prefer to grill, there is a very nice barbecue to grill outdoors.
Two of the bedrooms are master suites located at each end of the house. The third bedroom has two new twin beds with pillow tops on them that can be moved together to make a queen bed. Each bedroom has its own luxurious bathroom. In the living room there is a large-screen television, DVD player, as well as WI-FI for your enjoyment. From each room you can see the ocean and from each bedroom you can walk out onto the lanai. The vaulted ceilings and lighting system afford a spacious and welcoming atmosphere that envelops you as you step into this inviting home designed by the famed Maibu architect, Doug Rucker.

Secret Cove Villa also provides 2 kayaks for guest use, 2 boogie boards, beach mats, beach towels and a cooler for your excursions. My wife and I traveled from Huntsville AL and met our two adult children with their spouses from Nashville and Atlanta. Had a great time here. We all agreed this house and location is Epic! We walked the beach. Had a monk seal visit us the first day - an incredible experience. We snorkeled and kayaked in the lagoon, did a helicopter tour of the island, a waterfall hike, zip lining thru the canopies, visited the canyon and several beaches north and south, ate out a few times, used the grill and gourmet kitchen many times too. Really too much to write about in the detail it deserves. Can’t wait to return. Aloha and mahalo, The Debs family.

Secret Cove Villa was perfect for our family getaway. We know visiting in January there’s a good chance for clouds and rain (of which we had little rain), you can’t beat enjoying daily temperatures between 72°F and 80°F every day! The home was perfect for our stay. An eclectic decor that was interesting to view and everything we needed at hand. We used the washer/dryer which was convenient. Bought fish at the local fish market in Hanalei and barbecued on the deck. Whenever we had a question or issue, Stephanie was pretty quick to respond. Waking to the beautiful view and sound of the ocean so close was amazing. Strolls down our nearly secluded beach we’re gorgeous and good for the soul!

This property is a hidden gem. The location and view is breathtaking. The house is older which gives it quirky character but suited us just fine! The floor to ceiling windows in almost every room and the secluded beach with calm tide pools for our little kiddos (1 yr and 1.5 yrs) were worth a million bucks for us. We enjoyed watching the whales in the distance for the whole time and a monk seal on the beach the last day. Will be back as soon as we can! Carole and family / Canada

    House in poor shape

Great location, house in very poor shape. The window air conditioning is loud and poor. Doors do not close. Stove controls not working, just like on off switches. Toilet in 2nd guest bath whines so we had to shut water off to the toilet. Holes in the floor under master bed, let’s in bugs. No lights on deck, but otherwise deck very nice. Stephanie is very responsive, actually they bought a new grill as the one on the deck did not work. Lastly we received a sheriff’s auction notice of foreclosure. I would ask about this as it certainly bring a question about availability?

The property was very clean, had all the amenities we needed. The viewe from the deck is incredible! We ate every meal out on the deck. In the morning we watched the beautiful sunrises. The private beach was a must!! A monk seal even came on the beach one morning and was sun bathing. So beautiful to see. We loved the views from the windows in the bedrooms. I'm hoping I can fall asleep as fast home as I did here. Listening to the waves crash against the shore every night was amazing. Would definitely stay there again. Barbie

This property is the most incredible place we have ever stayed! We rented both the house and cottage for our family and had our dream Hawaiian wedding at this beautiful property. The house is GORGEOUS, the photos do not even do it justice. Waking up to a full ocean view from every room in the house was luxury. We booked this over a year in advance and Jonathan was great in communication and any questions we had for planning. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and plan to come again! This is a true Hawaiian hidden gem!

Loved the house and location. We were up every morning for the sunrise with our coffee and cameras. The view is spectacular and the best seat in the house is on the lanai. Jonathon and Stephanie were excellent hosts and very responsive to any need. Make sure to leave time in your vacation to enjoy the beach as you will have it to yourself. I am ready to start planning my next vacation!

Very comfortable house, well furnished. I give it 4 stars because I was diasappointed that the property has NO operable windows so you cant get fresh air in the house or hear the waves crashing. Each bedroom has a noisy window unit. Surprising for such a lovely property. There was no table on the deck for outdoor dining so we had to eat inside too until the last day. This was my fourth trip to Kauai and I have always stayed in houses. This is the first time to stay in a house with a/c and no ability to open the windows.

    We love staying here!

We've been all over the island in the last 40+ years, and we think Aliomanu Bay is the very best spot on Kauai. We stopped staying anywhere else years ago. Location and affordability keep us coming back to this home. We can day trip to the south, or to the north within an hour's drive. It has everything our family needs for outside play too-like beach towels, boogie boards, kayaks and sand chairs, plus everything we need inside-like comfortable beds, a well stocked kitchen, and luxury bath towels. There is a large reef that keeps the major waves far out in the ocean and creates a perfect place to swim and snorkel. It is extremely private too. We'd see a few people now and then stopping for a swim, but mostly we had the beach to ourselves. There are a few little kawinkiedinks with this home, but we don't mind. The sun and the constant water are obviously really hard on the houses there. The doors can be a little sticky, but if we wanted everything to look and operate just like it does at home, part of the adventure of a new experience would not exist. It's a really wonderful home overall. We stayed 16 days this time, and really appreciated all that goes into preparing the home for our arrival, and what has to be restocked and looked after, after our departure. The housekeeping staff obviously works very diligently to cover the bases. Once you stay here, you'll be back too!

This was our second time to stay at Secret Cove Villa, and the views from this home are still the best you could ever hope for. Seriously, it's like looking at a beautiful postcard with that gorgeous water, sliver of beach and all the tropical plants and trees! The house is just what you see in the VRBO photos, so no surprises there. We spent a lot of time enjoying the lovely new deck, and were rewarded with visits from a Hawaiian monk seal and some spotted rays very close to the rocks by the house. We were thrilled to find the kayaks still there, as kayaking around the cove was fun for everyone in our group, from teens to grandparents. This home is a real gem: comfortable, beachy, spacious, and the rental cost is just right. The location can't be any better, as the cove in front of the house is private with relatively few visitors, but there are other more public beaches to visit nearby. Kapaa is just down the road for groceries or shopping or restaurants, and the weather on the northeast side of the island is perfect. We are hoping to rent this home again! The Henry Family- Texas

Our first time to Hawaii couldn’t have been more perfect. This home is in an unbelievable location. The sunrises are spectacular. The cove is perfect for everything. Catching some sun, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. The home has everything we needed, including the built in 5 am rooster wake up call. But hey, I look at it as a guarantee to not miss the spectacular sunrise. If we ever have an opportunity to return we would definitely come back here! Mahalo and Aloha!

The following comments are related to our stay last March and may not reflect the current state of the property. My wife, Brother and Sister In-Law along with myself stayed at the property last March for ten days. We were very excited for our stay as my wife and I had been there previously and very much enjoyed our stay not so much this time. Upon our arrival much to our dismay the main balcony in the rear of the house was completely gone. The balcony is a main staple of the home as you can sit outside lounging in the sun during the day, barbecuing or star gazing at night listening to the surf. Aside from the balcony issue since our last stay I noticed the house is in a state of needing serious repairs. The Master bedroom had a pan above our bed which collected water from the leaky roof needing to be emptied periodically otherwise it would drip on our heads. The barbecue that was available for use was so disgusting I would not even attempt to use it. The owner did notify us via email the morning of our departure regarding the balcony, however our vacation had already begun and the email was not read until our return from vacation. This stuck me odd because the owner had knowledge of the balcony in December when it collapsed, why not post this on the listing as we would have likely declined our stay until the balcony was repaired. I was hoping not to have to post this comment however I see no recourse as we have yet to be reimbursed for the security deposit and the promised compensation for the damaged balcony. This is totally unacceptable!

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving at this gorgeous property! It’s the best location in Kauai in my opinion. It’s close enough to restaurants, food trucks and grocery stores, but far away enough from resorts. The house is clean, comfortable and everyroom has an amazing view! We spent days kayaking and snorkeling right in front of the house. We have two young children and grandparents with us and everyone was happy. We did run into some issues with the security system and AC, but the owner went out of his way to correct it for us. He had a new AC installed the next day! My husband and I plan to return every year. Thank you for sharing this magical place, Jonathan!

We all would return to Secret Cove Villa in a heartbeat♥️ The view and location are the very best on the island as far as we are concerned. Privacy, sound of the surf, sunrises ( faces east ), ocean views from all the rooms, easy access to everything, size of the house and let’s not forget the huge new deck make the house so special! Although the house is showing its age, everything is in working order. It has a washer/dryer which is great with the beach only steps away. The 3rd bedroom has twin beds which could be a queen but we lived with that. Everything is there that you need to cook what ever you want, with Kapaa shopping and nearby Whalers Market. We shopped at Costco in Lihue when we arrived on our way to the house. The only problem we experienced was a broken wine opener and we had a case of wine, so we purchased one. Hope you enjoy it should you reserve this home for your vacation. The sliding glass door does not close very tight and management is aware it comes off the track. This could be the reason the alarm keeps going off. The alarm system kept beeping and we could not set it when leaving the house. We tried everything, called management but to no avail. Kauai is a gem and certainly to be enjoyed to the fullest staying in this wonderful home! MAHALO AND ALOHA! THE MCCARTHY CLAN OF SIX

This is a great rental for it's unique qualities. We'll start with the positives. The setting is outstanding. It has a spectacular view of the ocean and an almost private beach with beautiful trees that shade you while you watch your kids swim in the SAFE kid tide pool just steps away. The water near the beach is protected due to reefs nearby, and it remained safe even with high surf warnings in place. Non the less, always be careful with Hawaiian waters. We did not see 1 insect in the house during our 8 day stay, and the house was very clean upon arrival. The house was cool as promised with 3 air conditioners. The owner and property manager were very professional, kind, and responsive. The air conditioner kept stopping and was very noisy. They replaced the air conditioner and solved the problem. This was done quickly and was non intrusive. The down side is the wear and tear on the house. Please keep in mind the low cost of this rental compared with other Kauai rentals that do not have the privacy or view the Secret Cove offers. The kitchen is at about 50% for what it offers, but was just fine for us as we ate our dinners out most of the time. The couches lack a degree of comfort but the chairs are good, and there are plenty of places to rest. We were grateful for the beach chairs they supplied but wished they were newer. There are no open windows or screens in the house and only one sliding door in the main room that lead to the deck. We were told that this prohibited opening the house up to the humidity, which destroys the interior of the house and the electronics. It would have been nice to be able to hear the ocean and feel the breeze when the air conditioner was off, but we understood the reasoning behind no windows. They offered fans for the house which we were grateful for. Overall this is a sound rental, offering excellent renter/management relationships and an intimate experience with the ocean. We felt taken care of and grateful for the price that Jonathan places on his property, making it an affordable holiday with exceptional qualities.

An honest review. Very rude owner, nice views, construction DURING our stay with no notice...

I am leaving this review to warn you, I have nothing to gain but a sense of justice. This owner has no respect for the guest’s privacy and made our vacation a frustrating experience. The owner had the lanai under construction during our stay—WITHOUT notice. Zero. Nada. Zilch. No offer to discount our stay when we realized what was happening. He had scheduled workers to show up every day 9-2 to work on the huge lanai (which can be seen from all rooms). The construction was loud, the workers could be seen from every room including the bathrooms and shower with little or no blinds to prevent them from seeing us, and the sides of the lanai had huge gaps where my children could easily fall through, where they failed to put safety netting. We booked over a year ago and heard rumors from neighbors that the deck collapsed in March so he had PLENTY of time to warn us it may be an issue. He blamed the workers being slow—but this lanai wasn’t even close to being finished when we arrived, and even still he should have offered minimum a night free for our trouble. Nope. I asked for a discount, told him everything. Heard nothing. The worst part is we booked this house so we could have lanai bbqs, breakfasts overlooking the ocean, easy beach access. You don’t spend that much money on a place if you don’t plan to enjoy it. We finally had to exercise our rights and turn away his workers after 3 days of this with no end in sight. Then he had the nerve to book pest control during our stay (which we finally allowed because we are reasonable humans). On the good side, since this is an honest review, the home has gorgeous views from every room. I saw no roaches (and honestly roaches are normal in Hawaiian homes due to the climate). It is very close to a great private beach and good snorkeling. I would never stay here again though because the owner does not maintain his home very well (hence the lanai issues and doors that don’t lock well, and don’t get me started on the front door with no dead bolt). It’s such a shame. My husband is an engineer and I’m an RN. We are honest, hard working people with children that saved a YEAR for this vacation. We had to fight to get our privacy back, or his workers would have been there every day of our 12 day stay! If you choose to ignore my advice, just expect last minute maintenance will not be deferred until after your stay, the owner will not care or give you notice and you may find yourself writing a similar review.

When we arrived at the villa we found the place looking clean and welcoming. It was easy to find from the directions sent to us. We rented this villa to celebrate my 50th Birthday. 6 of us stayed here and it slept all of us comfortably. The views were spectacular and even the permanent neighbors would say hello to us as they walked by with their dog every morning as we were leaving on our adventures. The scariest part of this was the Category 5 Hurricane that was headed our way. We called a couple of the contacts on the list and even sent an email about our concerns with the class windows and what we should help prepare for. They brought us over battery powered lanterns and the housekeeper Eunice checked on us via text almost everyday while the storm was approaching until it dissipated. The beach at this location was amazing as we walked it every morning and sat on the deck with our coffee watching the sunrise. The villa was just enough secluded yet also close enough to town to hide away and also to go do shopping and sightseeing. I would visit this location again. Thank you for a wonderful 50th Birthday vacation!

As many other reviewers have said, the house is outdated. It needs some work. It did not hinder us from enjoying it though. So rent with an open mind. What can’t be beat is the location. Basically your own private beach and ocean steps from your house. It was amazing!!!!!! Make sure to bring water shoes to enjoy the beach even more. We had so much fun boogie boarding and just relaxing to the sound of waves. This location seriously can not be beat!!!

I researched our trip to Kauai for over 18 months. In fact, I am still researching a return trip, even though it won't be for another couple of years. But, with that much time to plan, the most planning went into where to stay. I can tell you that I looked at everything and everywhere. But, when I found this place, I couldn't find better for our family. There were only 4 of us. We ended up splitting our time between this house and a condo on Hanalei Bay. Thank goodness, we had 8 nights in this house and 3 in the condo. While the condo was nice and also had a beautiful view, it could not even come close to the amenities of this home!! Having an entire place to ourselves, not having to hear conversations of your neighbors, waking up to that spectacular view of the ocean from every room, having a quiet and hardly populated beach and only walking 30 seconds to end up on the beach was the absolute best! Specifics: - we did not see a single bug inside the home for our entire length of stay - the floors were fine, I did not see anything that would indicate rotting, just a few patches - the sliding doors are little tricky to lock, but once Eunice gave us info on each, not a problem - they provide a wide variety of kitchen items; we did a ton of cooking and did not need anything (even have a crock pots and a waffle iron) - the washer and dryer are awesome, especially for getting out Kauai's red dirt - Eunice is fabulous, being a wealth of knowledge and help!! (Hopefully, she's going to adopt my daughter!) - great inventory of items you might need for the beach (kayaks, snorkel equipment, umbrellas, coolers, etc) - air conditioners keep entire home at perfect temperature - hot water heater must be humongous (I only note because we've stayed at a place that when all 4 of us took a shower, the last person was suffering a bit.) Is this comparable to the Grand Hyatt? No. But, was it a 5-star home for our family? Yes. We didn't want to eat out every time, but still have opportunity to have nice meals. We wanted to be able to walk on the beach at any time. We wanted to have enough room that our teenage kids did not want to choke each other. It is showing signs of age, but they are addressing those issues. And, with the close proximity to the water, salt water is very destructive. That's evident in how quickly the windows get salty after they were cleaned. I would not hesitate to go back to this house on subsequent trips. We loved it!

Beautiful views but villa needs work

We stayed at Secret Cove in mid February for a week. The Villa is exactly as described by the last 2 reviewers and is why we are giving it a 2 star rating as well. We also encountered roaches when we stayed in February, 2018. We saw them going in and out of the hinge on the pantry door on a number of occasions and also found one on the couch. There were roach traps under the kitchen cupboards so we assumed that Jon and Eunice were aware of them. We did not mentioned the bugs to Jon or Eunice as we felt it was probably harder to control bugs in warmer climates and with the patio doors not closing all the way in a couple of rooms, bugs have easy assess to the house. We had mentioned the patio door issue to Jon in my emails to him after we checked out. The sliding glass doors in the bedroom were very difficult to close and we had to close the door firmly and be very quick with putting the lock in place. In the master bedroom, the patio door was held closed with a piece of metal rather than the lock as it did not close all the way. This obviously has been an issue for a long time. It is unfortunate that Jon, the property manager, only responds to negative reviews and makes no effort to respond to positive ones. In responding to negative reviews, he always blames the renters for the issues rather than doing proper maintenance on the house and taking responsibility. In March, 2017, Kim H, had mentioned the rotting deck and the eucalyptus floors needing repair. Jon responded that the deck was only a few years old and made of very hard wood and that diamond tipped blades were necessary to cut it and that rot was very unlikely. Well the deck mysteriously fell off at Christmas, according to Jon, who notified us of this 3 days before our arrival in February even though we had had correspondence earlier than this with arrival instructions. This impacted our stay but we received compensation in the end for this and enjoyed the lovely views from the house. The eucalyptus floors in the kitchen area are rotting as Karen T mentions. This house needs work and is more like a cottage than a villa. Even with the condition of the house, there were many positives to our stay as well: Eunice was very quick to respond to our request for a kettle, the beach is very nice, views are fantastic and it is in an excellent location on the island. It is just very unfortunate that this property is not being maintained properly

    BEWARE COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE!!!!

My family and I stayed June 3-11 2018. The positive thing is the location of the house. Also the house is absolutely beautiful with amazing views. I booked this house a year ago going off everyone reviews which where great at the time. Two weeks before our arrival I saw a review about cockroaches. I freaked out a little but went in with a positive attitude. After the first night there we woke up and saw dead cockroaches on the kitchen floor. I opened the cabinets and saw them running everywhere!! I would walk by the kitchen and I would see ones run across the counter! Along with that he had cockroach trap through the kitchen that where full with AT LEAST 15 in them! So gross! So a person CANNOT tell me they don't know about the problem if they have traps everywhere. A person does not just put cockroach traps everywhere if they do not have a issue with them. This was so horrible that we could not even use the kitchen the entire trip. We had to eat out every meal which get so extremely expensive with a family of 4 in kauai. We left everyday and spend the whole day out so we didn't have to be in the infested house the whole trip. I called Jon the owner and he had someone come out and spray. He then told me that the guy saw no activity of cockroaches! I saw that message and actually laughed out loud. The guy obviously didn't come in the house. He then had the pest control company call me many times along with him leaving a message on how i need to call the pest control people back. That day I was on the west side of the island on a boat trying to enjoy my day with my family and not deal with the cockroach problem on my vacation. After the boat ride I sent multiple pictures to the lady at the pest control company and she said YES those are definitely cockroaches. Also said there was nothing else they could do at that time because they already sprayed. I have more pictures of cockroaches on my phone then all the beautiful beaches on the island!! This was also a bummer when it came to laundry because when we got home I had to leave all of our luggage outside and wash EVERYTHING so i didn't bring cockroaches into my house. The owner Jon has not responded to ANY of my message or calls since he told me the technician saw no cockroaches. He still owes me my security deposit and a night refund for the deck not being finished when we were there!!! On a positive note the island is absolutely beautiful and I can wait to go back! Just NOT to this house!!

After reading the previous review and the owners response I feel compelled to write this review and back up their issues. Our stay was from 5-8 thru 5-22, right after the previous reviewers stay. This was our third stay at the Villa, (2013, 2014, 2018). Learning four days before our arrival that the main deck was missing was a huge disappointment. We too took advantage of the 25 % discount offered for paying our balance in December for remodeling to be done in January. The deck was not mentioned as the remodeling project until just before our arrival. The construction crew was courteous and professional and did their best to minimize the interruption of our vacation. There was some noise and workers about, but I was thankful that we didn't have to deal with the jack hammering and demolition of the old deck as previous renters must have. The house is in need of serious repair. The floors are in terrible shape. The owner claims that they are tying to preserve the eucalyptus floors, but they are poorly patched with many soft spots, covered by throw rugs to hide the damage. The doors are in bad shape. There are 4 sliding glass doors. The main one off the kitchen to the missing main deck is sealed off for safety. The sliding door off the master bedroom is in the best shape. I cleaned the track and it slides ok. At the other end of the house there are two bedrooms, each with sliding glass doors that lead outside & down to the beach path. The last bedroom's slider was so difficult to open and close that we locked it and left it that way for the remainder of our stay. Yes, we mentioned this to Eunice who said she would have somebody look at it but they never did. Since we chose to seal off the last bedroom, the middle bedroom was our only access to the outside beach path. This door was extremely difficult to open and close, requiring two hands and some brute strength. Another issue I'd like to address is the roaches. As an experienced Hawaii renter, I understand the challenge of keeping a property insect free. The amount of roaches encountered (5+ daily) leads me to believe that pest management isn't working. On a positive note, the house was clean and pleasant when we arrived. The full length windows were clean leaving us with an amazing view. The refrigerator had been replaced since our last stay and pillow tops added to all the beds. The far bedroom now has roll down shades for privacy. I am giving a two star rating as the previous guests did.

Our family of five adults and one toddler spent two weeks at Secret Cove Villa in April 2018. For us the location was just about perfect. The house is situated in a private and quite area on the northeast coast with superb views overlooking Anahola Bay, and a (virtually private) reef-protected beach just steps out the front doors. It's an easy 20-25 minute drive to everything the north shore has to offer, and an equally easy drive to the south. Countless beaches, swimming, surfing, diving, fishing, hiking, and just lazing about are readily and easily accessible, as are groceries and restaurants. The house is particularly comfortable with a very well stocked kitchen, and there are endless ocean views throughout. Jon and the housekeeping staff were very responsive, even providing a pack 'n play for our toddler. We throughly enjoyed our stay and have already reserved another stay for May 2019.

Lovely Location. House in poor shape and pictures not accurate.

This is a complicated review. We stayed April 30-May 8/18. On the positive side, it is a three bedroom cottage located on a small, but nice and quiet beach. The views from windows are lovely. The housekeeper, Eunice, did a very good job of cleaning prior to our arrival. However, we had significant concerns with this rental and how it is portrayed, and how tenant concerns are addressed. Firstly, the lovely deck that you see in pictures of this home does not exist. When we arrived, the central portion of the deck was missing and construction was starting for its repair. We were only informed by the property manager 1 week prior to our rental that the deck was missing and construction starting. (My understanding from others is that the deck had fallen off in December.) This may explain the lack of reviews since Dec 2017. Furthermore, during our stay we had to contend with the noise of jackhammers and power saws. The construction is a large job and seems to be going slowly so I would expect that this will affect renters for some time to come. The deck missing is not only significant for the loss of its use, but for the ease of access to the beach from the master bedroom. All of the large sliding glass doors from the bedrooms to the deck are in very poor shape. They are very hard to move and very difficult to lock. While the home was cleaned well prior to our arrival, we did encounter 1-2 coakroaches per day. One of which had found its way in the display of the microwave and unnerved some of my family members. Upon returning home, I have tried to address my concerns with the property manager, but my concerns were generally deflected and minimized. For instance, it was suggested to me that we brought the cockroaches with us, despite his own admission that they spray for bugs and the fact we observed bugs traps in the cottage with cockroaches. I understand problems come up, but blaming tenants is not the way to resolve them. I have been offered some degree of compensation, but I felt it was not adequate. At this point it is awaiting the input of the owners who are apparently away for 45 days in some part of the planet where they can’t be reached. We did not make issues of these concerns while there as we wanted to enjoy Kauai. However, now I think, prospective renters should be aware of what there are getting. This is all unfortunate, as one can see that if this property was restored, it would be lovely.

This place is nothing short of amazing. My family and I started coming to Kauai 5 years ago having had enough of Maui getting a bit too commercial for us. After our first stay at the Villa, we knew that we would be back again and again and again. The entire experience of staying at this place is transcending and life changing for those of us that are not able to live in this magical place. The house itself is classic Hawaiian - not a fancy hotel room or super modern construction kind of place, but an extremely tasteful, well laid out, well appointed classic post and beam design with the world's most amazing view from the deck. It's extremely comforting just to "hang out" at the house all day long if that's all you want to do, listening to surf all day long. Wall to wall windows ocean side of the house mean that every moment you spend there you will be lulled into paradise by the incredible beauty of the place. The beach below has reef outcrops here and there but offers a great mix of a few sandy spots just for wading, a small protected area in the rocks for little ones, and a fantastic reef protected bay that is great for kayaking and snorkeling alike. The island has a ton to offer, but after being here so many times, I could just as easily sit on the Lanai for my entire vacation! We have never stayed anywhere better. Some will say that there are a few things that can use fixing up here and there, but over the years I have found this owner to be super attentive, and the management is top notch - even checking in with us when we are there to see what we need, and how much "attention" we would like. They even come and clean the salt off the windows mid stay if you are there for an extended period. The house comes well stocked with everything you need for a great vacation - including things for babies if you need that, and a good collection of beach stuff and a couple of kayaks that are kept beneath the house. You'll notice that the place is regularly booked up pretty solidly, and that is a testament to how perfect this place is and how well clients are taken care of. When I tell my friends at home about our trips to Hawaii, I am reticent to tell them where we stay as I am protective about being able to come back! So, if you are looking for that life changing experience in a place where you will really understand what it means to be alive, this is it. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

Six adults and one four year old stayed here for ten glorious days and nights. The view is spectacular, ocean just steps away though we spent a lot of time just sitting on the deck soaking up the views. Location is fairly secluded. Home is a bit older but well maintained, otherwise I would give a five star review. My personal preference would be for bigger beds, don't recall if they were queen or full size, they were comfortable, just small. Having a table to seat six was probably one of the things on our wish list, the table seats four. Would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful, beautiful place to stay for our trip. We were traveling as three couples and it was great to each have our own room and bathroom but still get to be together in the house. (Keep in mind that one of the rooms is just single beds and one of the queen bed bathroom's only has a tub.) The views from the house were spectacular, even on the rainy days. The beach was only 45 steps from the house and had some great snorkeling. Watch out for the sea urchins though. The house was in great shape and everything was in working order with all the kitchen supplies we needed. The washer and dryer were very handy to have available for our use. The beds were comfortable and clean. The house was very private and we really didn't run into any other people while we were there except the occasional neighbor out on the beach. Most of the time we were by ourselves though without all the crowds of the other beaches. For the price this was above and beyond what we could get elsewhere. The beach chairs, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, etc. stored under the house came in handy! Jonathan and Eunice were also easy to work with and made sure everything went well for our stay.

You can't beat waking up to a gorgeous sunrise each day. Beautiful beach views with private sandy beach. The house held our extended family of 7 (including a 13 mo old) well. Kitchen is well stocked. We had a pak n play and high chair waiting for us (by request). The house is aging and has some issues (e.g back door sticks, floors creak a bit, TV in living room is blurry; some repair needed -which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars) but easy to overlook due to location. Great island location - About 30 min to Hanelei and 20 min to Lihue airport.

We booked both this main house and the cottage and held our wedding here in April. It was a perfect week in the most perfect location. :) Having only been able to research our wedding "venue" online, I literally jumped for joy upon arriving at the house and stepping into the yard - it was beyond my expectations! The scenery is breathtaking, the photos don't do justice to the grounds of this property. The beach is cute and narrow with plenty of shady, quiet hammock spots. If you're laid back people looking for a small wedding location, or just a place to spend quality time with a group of loved ones, this is the house you want. It is in a true local area that will give you authentic hawaiian lifestyle experience. We were lucky enough to meet the resident monk seal and got a visit from Manu, the neighborhood dog. The house definitely has some weathering and the decor may not be to everyone's liking, but overall our crew of architects thoroughly enjoyed the design of this house The kitchen was adequately stocked and has high end appliances, though the fridge did sound to be about at the end of it's life. Bedrooms were nicely sized and situated, very comfy/soft mattresses - the master was amazing and made for a great bridal prep area. Two things to note: The 3rd bathroom does not have a showerhead, it is tub only. Second, the loft in the cottage is accessible only through the bedroom, so if you need 2 couples to stay there, they should be comfortable enough with each other to share the same space. There is a gravel area underneath the main house (where kayaks are stored) that extends out into a tree covered area that is just perfect for setting up a romantic dinner table. The grassy yard between the house and cottage is so soft and well maintained that we were able to go barefoot for our ceremony! And if you need anything, Eunice, the house keeper and Jonathan, the manager, are so accommodating and just a joy to talk with. You really could stay in this house for a whole week and never need to leave the immediate area. There is an awesome general store with poke and a burger place on the main highway just before turning on Aliomanu road, and just after is a farmer's market open on the weekend. As far as weather, it seemed to have the best of both worlds, getting the cooler air and rolling cloud cover of the north, but less rainfall like the south side. I could go on for days about this place, but in short, it's magical!

Our family recently stayed at Secret Cove Villa and had an absolutely wonderful time. It was our second visit to Kauai and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and privacy this home provides. We were four adults, a ten year old and a six year old. And the amazing beach access meant immediate play time upon arrival. We swam every day (took the kayak out one afternoon)and always felt safe. We ventured out one day to Anini Beach for some additional snorkeling and soon discovered that Aliomanu Bay is much better, with a larger variety of fish and certainly more plentiful- at least in early May. And I don't think there could be a more private beach in all of Hawaii. Honestly, it was shocking just how few people we saw. It truly felt like our own little piece of paradise. The houses location is terrific with close access to Kapa'a to the south or Princeville/Hanalei to the north. It's stocked well enough that we had nearly every meal there. I especially loved that each bedroom had it's very own bathroom. The views from every room are indescribable. The photos just do not do it enough justice. I highly recommend visiting Kalalea Juice Hale, which is right by the house. We enjoyed their shave ice and smoothies (and their views) on more than one occasion. On a side note, we had a chicken crash in to one of the windows (I was relieved that no glass got broken, that would have been hard to explain). And it took a while, but the poor girl seemed to recover. She fell off the deck and we soon lost sight of her, we can only assume she was okay. The entire week was simply blissful for us, not so much for that chicken.

The property is exactly as we expected from what is listed on the website. This was by far the best vacation I have ever experienced - the location and views were everything I had ever imagined for a trip to such a beautiful island. This was my wife's and my second trip to Kauai, and the island was just as spectacular as we remembered, but this property was the highlight of our stay. I would highly recommend this property to anyone that is considering a stay here. We did have a couple of issues during our stay, but we contacted Eunice and she took care of both our issues while we were away, prior to us returning. My son, his friend and I did a little exploring on the beach just to the north of the rental and we did come across the monk seal. Overall everyone had a great time and we would certainly enjoy the opportunity to be able to return here sometime in the future.

We arrived at the house in dark the but were still able to find it. Thankfully flood lights turn on automatically when you walk towards the front door making it easier to see/open the key box. We could hear the ocean but could not see the glorious view until the next morning. Every room in the house has this glorious view. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to cook. We saw maybe 5 people all day long on the beach. There seemed to be plenty of beach stuff but can't attest to its condition because we just used the umbrella. It was great. Enough beach towels for our family of 4 and more than enough room. My husband found the master bedroom bed (the one by itself) too soft for his liking to sleep on so he slept on one of the twin beds but I had no problems with it. Just personal preference. This house is very ornately decorated, lots of breakable stuff. With a 3 yr old this was a little nerve-wracking, though we made it through the week without anything getting broke. There is a giant life size vase right by the door, if you have small kids I would recommend asking if this could be moved to a less traveled area. The biggest problem we had was when setting the alarm, it would state that the sliding glass door was open, when it was not. Just a little fiddling with it made it clear, so basically we had no real problems. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

We could not have been happier with the central location of this home to access the island sites. Even better, it is in an area where many locals live and did I mention right on a small cove with a nice sandy beach. Pictures of this were accurate and we encountered no more than 10 people a day sharing our beach. As mentioned in previous posts very good snorkeling is right off your beach. Do not waste your time hauling gear to other sites in winter. If you want clearer water or a healthier reef take a boat offshore. As for the house, the layout was perfect for us parents and our two adult children and spouses. No grandkids yet for us but there were ample supplies for children. We spent every morning and many evenings on the deck running the full length of the house marveling at the amazing view-we never got tired of it! The only reason that I am giving this house 4 stars is that it is beginning to show significant wear. There are areas on the deck flooring that are rotting out and downright dangerous. We were greated on arrival with a note from the housekeeper requesting the handiman come to work on the only main access sliding door the next morning. Having experienced construction we knew this was no small job and declined not wanting to interrupt the vacation we had planned for the last year. Needless to say, we struggled with that door for the entire week but did meet the handiman on our departure so hopefully is now fixed for future renters. The refrigerator needs to be replaced! With a large numbers of groceries in it the temperature was barely able to keep cool. The beautiful wood flooring has areas of water damage and rot. I mention all of this in hopes that the owners will close this property for a short period and invest the money to maintain it for future use. We very much would love to return here if our travels ever take us again to Kauai. This home truly is a gem!

March 4, 2017 My wife and I just returned home after spending 30 wonderful nights at this lovely ocean front home. Each morning, upon awaking, we would look out from the bed and see nothing but the majestic Pacific Ocean. The view reminded me on sleeping on my own private sailing boat, but without the sea sickness. The whole side of the house, that faces the ocean, is nothing but full large sized windows, so almost anywhere in the house, you’re looking at a drop-dead stunning vista. The appointments and decorations inside the home are very tastefully done. The pleasing landscaping and vegetation are lush, and reminds you of jungle living. This is a great house at an extraordinary price - a real value. We tried to get 30 consecutive nights in February 2018, but the owner, Jonathan, advised us he had other rentals for that period. The house has pretty much everything you need for inside and outdoors. Lots of beach “play stuff". When considering spending $350 a night at a franchise hotel, or this charming home, staying here is a no brainer. The whole time we were there, we hardly saw anyone on the beach. It was like having your own private beach. And the other houses nearby were seldom occupied. Anahola is almost half way between Kapaa and Princeville, so you are centrally located in the very desirable north/east section of Kauai. The northern part of Kauai is lush and picturesque, whereas the southern part of the island gets less rain and is not as green as up north. The house was very clean and orderly when we got there. If possible get to the house in day light hours, since finding it is more difficult after dark. We always felt very safe. Finally, this delightful property is a tremendous value considering what you get, for what you pay. Just “Zillow” the address and you’ll see the area is loaded with $2,000,000 dollar plus properties. But because of the great value, this house gets lots of use. Everything in the house is of good quality, but is somewhat worn, but still very nice. Stay here and you’ll have memories for a life time. The decision to stay in this home was a good one. The location is incredible. The views from the windows and deck are what you imagine when you think about staying in Hawaii. Even though there are other homes along this beach we rarely ever saw anyone else. At most we would see one or two people on the beach at any given time. The location on the island is great. It is just about 10 minutes past Kapaa. It is about 20 minutes from Princeville. Hanalei is another 15 or so past that. Getting to Poipu is about a 45 min ride but well worth it. The home is very well equipped. I think I counted 4 beach chairs, 6 to 7 beach towels, 2 kayaks, 6 or so pairs of water shoes (very much needed), at least 8 or 9 masks and snorkels, 3 to 4 pairs of fins, noodles, floats, beach toys for kids, fishing pole, sunsreen and much more. There is a shower as you come up from the beach. The beach is a little rocky as stated in other reviews but there is plenty of sand for your lounging pleasure. There is a little area to the left as you come down the path that looks like a little Queen's Bath. The house is very livable. It certainly has a little age and wear and tear on it but that in no way affected our stay. Nice big frig but no ice maker just ice trays. The kitchen is well equipped. It has Keurig, blender, toaster, micro, etc. Plenty of plates, bowls (large and small), and utensils. The is a master bedroom on each end of the house. Both have queen beds. There is a bedroom with twins that has a private bath as well. The window between the mirrors over the vanity is a nice touch. The fairly new washer/dryer got plenty of use. When we first looked at this home online it looked like one of those that had the sliding doors that opened up all the way across the living area. It is not. There is a set of sliding doors off the kitchen and master bedrooms. The rest of the glass on the living area is fixed. Each room had its own AC unit. They were a little noisy but did the job. The temperature when we were there was around 85 degrees during the day. TV in the living room had a little picture issue but we didn't watch that much TV. There is patio table with 4 chairs, 2 lounge chairs, and a gas grill on the deck. Be sure and check out Princeville Ranch Adventures for Zip Lining. Awesome time. Monicos Taqueria in Kapaa was great. Got groceries at Foodland on the way in. Be sure and get some Poke. Go see Spouting Horn. General Store 5 minutes from house to the left. Enjoy the beauty!!!!

Secret Cove met and exceeded all of our expectations and all 5 of us would not hesitate to stay there again--and again--and again. It is spacious, clean, ,well equipped with towels, kitchen accouterments, even spices and paper goods. We loved the spectacular view from the deck and proximity (really just 50 paces after you go down about 15 steps off the deck) to the "secret beach", which never had more than 5 people on it even at peak times. We even saw a few people night snorkeling there one night, but we only enjoyed that during the day. You can call the caretaker if there are any problems--we called once because we couldn't get the last bedroom's slider to lock. All the reviews rated Secret Cove at the highest level--and we happily agree. Two notes to consider: do try to arrive there in daylight--the street off the highway is easy to miss and the area is quite "hidden" --despite good directions from manager. And we only used the beach chairs, the other beach items didn't suit us and were kind of stored in a heap after last tenants. But there are kayaks and a boogie board, and an ice chest. None of this takes away from this place. You will love the area and feel so lucky to be in the house. And the days will go by just way too fast!

Now that we’re back to the dailies again, I am homesick for the deck—the palm trees, the waves, the flocks of frigate birds far overhead. With the time difference we were all awake well ahead of sunrise every morning. It became our ritual, all of us gathering on the deck to watch the sun come up. What a superb way to start the day. It’s become so typical, to be just a little disappointed with the reality—things get oversold or overtalked or whatever—the actual thing, whatever it is, is rarely as great as described. Not so this time, the house is just exactly what we hoped for. The beach is fairly isolated and quiet; we had it to ourselves most days. A happy arrangement of big rocks just below the house intercepts the waves, and creates a perfect and protected wading pool for the little ones. The beds are very comfortable. We asked for extras, too—extra pillows for one bad back, a portable crib for a baby—and they were ready and waiting for us on arrival. The property is lovely, a real gift—and the only downside? The bar is now set very, very high for future vacation properties. If you go, here’s the lesson I learned too late: for groceries, the Kapaa Foodland is far superior to the Safeway. Great selection of poke! :)

Beach has plenty of space, my brother actually slept comfortably outside on his hammock each night. Housekeeper responded quickly during the week. House is located in perfect location to explore island - we did not feel too far when we explored out to the napali coast, waimea canyon, or polihale state park. On our third trip to Kauai, we chose Secret Cove Villa which is exactly as advertised - nothing hidden except the villa - some areas show their age but does not affect the enjoyment of your stay. All the amenities were as listed. We were two couples and had plenty of room so we weren't bumping into each other for our 10 day stay. Walks down the beach were amazing - even though we had high surf warnings for nearly a week. The location is halfway between Princeville and Kapaa - perfect to go in either direction for either sightseeing or shopping. I did find that there wasn't much shade - I can't tolerate the sun for medical reasons - and the owners ask you to keep the patio doors closed due to the humidity damage to electronics - but I could sit in the a/c and look out the expansive windows and enjoy the ocean. We were honoured to have two different monk seals join us on the beach right below the villa on consecutive days (one had a tag and the other didn't). There were no fish in the bay those days!! We stayed at this house for two whole weeks, and it was Absolutely Amazing! The house is perfect for what we were looking for: tastefully decorated, spacious yet totally comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked, the washer and dryer was modern and worked great, dishwasher worked...the only thing I might say is the fridge wasn't as cold as it could be...but that was probably because we had it so fully packed!! :) We spent every morning and every evening on the lanai, either drinking coffee or having puu puu's and cocktails, and just soaking up that incredible view! We were able to see the whales (from very afar, but still we saw them), and just stare for miles. The beach was great! The sand itself was just a strip, but we were able to work around that, by lying under the trees. Snorkeling was so cool! Because that reef goes so far out, we were able to snorkel, pretty much, without fear of waves, and getting knocked in to the coral. You definitely need water socks, but we picked up some at walmart for $20, and left them for the next guests. We went to several different beaches, and did a little sight-seeing (I do want to say - if you get a chance to hike in to that Papa'a Bay Beach, I strongly recommend it. It was BEAUTIFUL!), but as this was our second time in Kauai, we spent the majority of the time at the house. I could go on forever, about this stay, and this house, but I will leave it at: it was Absolutely Amazing! I would come back to this house over and over!! ...and yes, we met the cat! Yoda was pretty fun!

This was our first trip to Kauai. Last year we went to Maui and did the resort thing. This year we decided to try out a house on a different Island. The house was clean and beautiful and had everything you needed. The setting is amazing, you can see the ocean from every room! Never in my life did I ever think I would be in an oceanfront house in Hawaii for a vacation..but I was and it was amazing. So relaxing. The beach was great. We tried another beach one day but my son was stung by a Man O War so we ended up back at "our" beach where we felt safe and the kids had lots of toys to use in the water..tubes, noodles, kayaks. Would highly recommend to anyone!!

This is the second time my husband and I stayed at Secret Cove Villa, and we are huge fans. Last year we rented it as a couple, but this year we rented it with another couple, and there was ample room. With bedrooms on either side of the house, it is well suited for two couples or a family. The location on Aliomanu Bay is terrific if you like access to the North Shore, but dislike crowds (as we do). Waking up to the sunrise on the Bay is a special treat...as is returning to the Villa after a day of exploring and just chilling in the natural pool directly below the house. Snorkling and swimming are good too (though I'd wear watershoes or fins, as the bottom is somewhat rocky). You share the beach only with your neighbors, and a handful of locals who are in-the-know. The views from every room are just breathtaking. The home is older, but well taken care of, and the owners equip it with just about everything one might need for a fabulous vacation. Eunice, the on-island housekeeper, was very responsive when we had issues with the TV. I wish I was still sitting on the lanai, with a cocktail in hand! Aloha!

We stayed at this house last week and it was everything we hope for and more. The house is clean and beautiful and the beach in front has great snorkeling and swimming each morning. It was quiet, secluded and very private. Eunice the house cleaner was friendly, professional and very responsive to questions we had when we called her cell phone number provided. The house has the amazing views of the beach/ocean from every bedroom and we really enjoyed the lanai every single day. We would go out in the morning to other beaches or attractions and come home to relax on "our" beach or lanai each afternoon. It was a very relaxing vacation and just what we needed. We are already planning our next stay at this property!!

We recently stayed at the The Secret Cove Villa and all I can say is wow. We were greeted by the house keeper and that's were a great week started. Kauai is a beautiful island but only part of what you see off the balcony of this villa. We were in awe when we entered and remained that way for our stay. When we stepped in and saw the table set and the smell of cleanliness we knew it was going to be a good week. We were pleased with the closeness to everything that the island had to offer. My wife and I and two other couples with us stood on the deck and said goodbye to a real terrific place. Hated to leave. Would surely recommend this villa to anyone.

    Can hardly wait to return!

Ourselves and two other couples just came home from two beautiful weeks at Secret Cove! The inside pictures are very true but the outside of this place is stunning. We spent many hours sitting on the deck listening to waves crash in and watching the daily whale show from the deck! We had many whale sightings everyday and were lucky enough to have a seal show up on our beach one afternoon. Neighbor Dave is a wealth of info and told us where to get fresh basil, starfruit and cumquats on our daily beach walk. Everything you need and more is in the house and the beds and bedding are very comfortable and of great quality. The beach, which is literally out your backdoor is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. I would however suggest watershoes as there is a lot of sharp coral around. The only suggestion, and its really nothing would be if the doors had screens so you could have them open to enjoy the ocean breeze. As mentioned earlier we are already planning our next trip back!

I am always lost for words to describe this house. In short this is the best location and house in Kauai. Perfect beach, close to restaurants (15 Minutes Away), and idea shops for those who like to look for local crafts, and groceries, not far away. While we were there the house was upgraded with larger a/c in every room. If you want to go to Hawaii, Kauai is the best of all the islands and this house is the best of Kauai.

We returned two weeks ago from a week long stay at Secret Cove Villa, and are still in withdrawals from that beautiful location. The moment we opened the door and looked out the windows at the stunning view, we knew we were in heaven. Aliomanu Bay is an amazing beach location--a gentle bay with great snorkeling and kayaking right outside your door. The house itself was nearly perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed. Each bedroom looks out onto that beautiful ocean view. My only issue at all was with the bed in the master bedroom. Be prepared to feel as if you're sleeping on a board. It was truly hard to sleep on such a hard surface. But even with that, I would go back in a heartbeat. It is truly a one of a kind location. You will feel like a billionaire with your own personal mansion on the beach!

The villa is exactly as described and depicted. Very clean and well appointed vacation home. Magnificent views from every room. Swimming, kayaking in the cove is excellent; walking the cove beach is a great morning exercise. Very private, quiet, and comfortable. Jan is very helpful and sets you up with all information well before arrival. Easy drive to anywhere on the island. Our favorite spots beyond the cove were: Hanalei for food, souvenir shopping, and fun, Tunnels beach for the best snorkeling, Waimea canyon for the awe factor, You will not be disappointed, well worth the money.

As a family of 7, my husband and I, my brother, his wife and two kids and my dad stayed at this beautiful house for 10 nights in November 2012. The house is equipped nicely with outdoor items, such as kayaks, boogie boards, snorkel masks, life jackets and sand toys (for the kids). Inside, it is much the same; coolers for excursions, beach towels, fully equipped kitchen are just to name a few. Some of the furnishings/fixtures could be updated, as they are wearing, but nothing too concerning. The bed in the second bedroom is lousy, needs to be replaced. We found that we ran out of toiletries during our stay, and was some what surprised to find out that we needed to purchase these, that there was no 'supply closet'. Again, not a problem, just unexpected. The BBQ propane tank was empty and was quickly filled and the BBQ fixed promptly. We had an issue with the freezer, but again, this was resolved quickly. The house is located on a quiet beach with very easy access to all the island has to offer. We had an amazing time, and highly recommend this to all.

The Secret Cove Villa has the most dramatic view from it's wonderful deck. The sun rise is spectacular with your morning cup of coffee. The house is situated on a beautiful bay that is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. You are close to Kapa'a, stores, great places to eat, and just around the corner from Princeville. If you want an idyllic Hawaiian vacation this is the perfect house. The house is set up nicely. Easy to use kitchen, barbacued each night on the deck, lots of towels (beach towels also), and every room has a view of the ocean. We had a problem with an air conditioneer, Jan the property manager was right on top of it, and it was replaced the next day. We live in San Diego, a wonderful beach community, but I would come bact to the Secret Cove Villa in a heart beat. A wonderful home with the most spectacular view of the ocean.

We stayed as part of a 5 adult group to celebrate a couple monumental birthdays in the year. We found the place on VRBO and of several places we have rented on the site, this is the top selection. We arrived while the cleaning crew was still there and they were welcoming and a pleasure to deal with. The sweeping view of the beach and bay was breathtaking. We were able to experience amazing sunrises from all parts of the house as every room looks out onto the ocean. The location is near Kapaa and the supermarkets and restaurants there as well as an easy drive to Princeville and Hanalei Bay. We would highly recommend this home to all who wish to visit Kauai!

This is the first time I have written a review about a vacation home but I'm compelled after staying at the Secret Cove Villa. It was stunning. The house is beautiful and right on the beach. One whole wall of the home is windows overlooking the water. The beach is very private as well. We stayed a week and did not see more than 5 people on the beach the the whole time. Most days we were the only ones down there. The other great thing is that that the water is calm because of a coral reef. There are many small tide pools behind the house for children to play in. We had fun snorkeling and kayaking as well. This place is a great deal. I can't think of staying anywhere else when we go back.

The villa's staff ensured that my stay was carefree, and booking my reservations was uncomplicated and easy. I highly recommend this property to travelers looking for a peaceful oasis in the unspoiled, slow-paced, naturally beautiful island of Kauai.

Secret Cove Villa was the greatest - we hated to leave this lovely home. We all felt like this home far exceeded our expectations, it was amazing! The beach being "right there" and the view from every window was mind-boggling. We all arose with the hint of sunrise (and the rooster, which made us smile) and we were out on the lanai with our cameras. We were lucky enough to have a full moon and the sight of that every night over the beach was so memorable, in fact, I found an artist who painted that scene on a coconut, and that now sits in my home. We swam and snorkeled in the cove, used the kayaks and equipment and made it to several other beaches, which was enjoyable, also did the helicopter, zip line, catamaran, The Canyon and also some gardens. In between, we enjoyed "the Villa" and cooked and ate good meals, with the kitchen being so well stocked with spices and misc. things, as well as the professional equipment provided. We used Safeway and that worked out well, having their "customer card". We ate some meals out too and that was fun, also fixed a pic nic lunch. Also liked those hoses - to clean our shoes and beach things, that worked well. The best part was that this family of 5 truly bonded during this trip and we all will have many happy memories, (and close to 5,000 pictures, between us) to enjoy in our coming days. It was a perfect 50th Wedding Anniversary trip for my husband and I, as well as our three kids. We appreciate Jan from VRBO who was very helpful and answered all our questions beforehand and this helped us get ready and know what to expect. Also to to Mike, the property manager, for being there for us and also being so helpful. Thank you to the owners, also - for allowing us to rent their beautiful home, filled with their many collections of interesting pieces and so nicely done. Everything was quite comfortable and we felt very priviledged to enjoy it as well. Everything done for us was in the true Aloha Spirit. Mahola!

We enjoyed our recent stay at Secret Cove Villa and found the location and villa conducive to a nice relaxing holiday. The beach was easy to access and having the kayaks available was a very nice feature. The outdoor shower and hose made cleaning up from the beach easy and very convenient. The location between Kapa'a and North Shore made either location quick to access. I enjoyed the surrounding views for my morning jog and it was a very quiet and peaceful area. The villa itself had everything you need inside to make yourself comfortable and was very roomy. The lanai area and BBQ was our favourite location to just sit and read or enjoy a glass of wine. If you get a chance, try the Shave Ice at the Defries lunch wagon in Anahola, very tasty. You will enjoy your stay.

SIX OF US STAYED 10 NIGHTS AT THE VILLA AND WHAT A DELIGHTFUL TIME WE HAD - BOTH AT THE VILLA AND ON KAUAI. THE VILLA SURPASSED OUR EXPECTATIONS AND IS THE BEST PLACE I HAVE STAYED IN HAWAII. WE'VE VISITED 4 OF THE ISLANDS BUT BY FAR, KAUAI IS OUR FAVORITE. THE VILLA IS SPACIOUS, BEAUTIFUL, RESTFUL, PEACEFUL, AND LIKE NO OTHER PLACE WE'VE STAYED. THE STAFF IS GREAT TO WORK WITH AND VERY ATTENTIVE TO OUR NEEDS. WHAT PEACE WE ENJOYED, DRINKING COFFEE EVERY MORNING ON THE LANAI...WALKING A FEW STEPS DOWN TO THE BEAUTIFUL AND CALM WATERS. "MET" THE MONK SEAL...ENJOYED THE "MAC" NUTS STICKY BUNS AT THE BAKERY ON THE LIGHTHOUSE ROAD...A MUST SEE IS QUEEN'S BATH IN PRINCEVILLE...ANOTHER MUST SEE IS THE WIAMEA CANYON...BE SURE TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF THE ROAD...A SCENIC POINT NOT TO BE MISSED. BE SURE TO PICK UP (BEFORE YOUR TRIP) THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO KAUAI...IT WILL TAKE YOU PLACES THAT OTHERS WON'T. BE SURE TO VISIT THE QUAINT TOWN OF HANAPEPE...THE MACADAMIAN NUT MILKSHAKE IN HANALEIA IS YUMMIE...ATV RIDE IN KIPU IS AWESOME...AND BEST OF ALL, SECRET COVE VILLA IS POSITIONED WELL SO THAT THERE ARE MANY SIGHTS WITH EASY DRIVING DISTANCE. WE DID NOT "WANT" FOR ANYTHING WHILE STAYING AT THE VILLA....KITCHEN WELL-EQUIPPED...BEDROOMS SPACIOUS AND BEDDING SOFT, SOFT, SOFT! IT WAS NICE TO COME HOME AFTER A HOT DAY OUT AND FIND A COOL, REFRESHING HOUSE TO AWAIT US. BE SURE TO SEE "KONG" FROM THE DRIVE IN FRONT OF THE VILLA. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE VILLA. THE BAD THING IS THAT WE'RE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR (JUNE 2012) AND THE VILLA IS ALREADY RENTED!!!!! WE ARE SAD ABOUT THAT!! BE SURE TO TAKE IN THE MANY FARMER'S MARKETS ALL AROUND THE ISLAND. DUKE'S CANOE CLUB IN LIHUE IS GREAT EVENING DINING AND THE BLUE DOLPHIN IN HANALEIA IS FABULOUS. FRIED SHRIMP BEST I'VE EVER HAD! Not only is it beautiful, gorgeously decorated, filled with every amenity you can need, and super comfortable, the location is simply stunning. Seeing the amazing views from every room never stopped taking our breath away. We appreciated the cold a/c, the comfy sofa, the super soft linens, the well equipped kitchen, the endless supply of beach towels, bath towels, books, dvds, games, water toys, kayaks, and the welcome basket of goodies and chilled champagne when we arrived! The location was also incredibly convenient to all of the island and made getting around easy. We loved the seclusion of the property and the perfect beach that it sits on. It's a perfect beach for beachcombing, long walks, swimming, and kayaking. This is the most perfect villa on the most perfect beach on the most perfect island! We stayed for a week at the end of February 2011 at Secret Cove Villa. Setting it up through this website went very smoothly. Three direct deposits to make the total including cleaing and security. Getting to the home was very easy and it was clean and ready for us when we arrived late afternoon. We had two cars and they were easly accomodated in the parallel parking spaces at the front of the house. The local go-to-guy for the house is easy to get in touch with and very responsive. The view over the ocean is as beautiful and more than seen on the VRBO website. Spectactular sunrises and the scene constantly changes with the weather. We were able to see whale spouts and a few breaching whales in the distance from the lanai. The home is very comfortable and clean. We were not all all disappointed with the online promises made for beautiful and comfortable surroundings. The kitchen is also fully loaded so cooking meals is not a problem if you are in the mood to cook. Minor gripes might be that there are few windows that open and they do not have screens so flies do come in. Not being able to open the windows also means that one hears the AC while inside the house versus the ocean and trees blowing in the breeze. The cove is nice for swimming and kayaking. There are better places on the island for snorkeling. There were some ants on the lanai, but bugs are to be expected. All in all the place gets four thumbs up (there wre four of us staying there).

Wow! The views, the secluded ½ mile long beach along with a great house makes the perfect vacation spot. Kayaking everyday in a peaceful cove which is great for snorkeling and swimming can’t be beat by the resort style places located on the south side of the Island. Watching the beautiful sunrise every morning from the porch located directly off each bedroom was stunning and surreal. Seeing a variety of fish and coral (while snorkeling), sea turtles, and a Hawaiian monk seal within steps from the backdoor was amazing and beats anywhere else on the island. Favorite dinner food was at Wahoo in Kapaa (John the waiter is awesome) and the dessert was fantastic. Favorite lunch food was Dwayne’s char-burger located south of the house a couple miles on hwy 56. We used The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook, Kauai Revealed and it was spot-on at finding great food spots. Favorite part of the island was this house because we had everything we wanted to do right there but our second favorite part was the North shore. Watch out the waves are rough on the North shore but a good time. Being the first to stay we did make some suggestions and before we left a few of them had already been fulfilled and that is credit to the property manager. We had a great time and would recommend this home to anyone going to Kauai. To the owner we would like to say thanks for expediting the landscaping so we could enjoy this beautiful home.

After an extremely long flight we were absolutely overjoyed to open the door to this home and see the welcome tray and bottle of champagne. We were so content to sit and toast the wedding on the beach just yards from the home. What a great start to an outstanding month long vacation at this home. Then of course there was the view. As wonderful as it looks in pictures, one can not imagine it until experiencing it. It is breathtakingly beautiful. We were so content to just sit there and be mesmerized by its magnificence. The owner of this home is fortunate to have great employees in Jan and Eunice. Any questions or concerns were dealt with promptly. Once the water company had flooded the street and then a heavy rain followed, leaving a giant puddle in front of the house. Our son told us later that he witnessed a woman digging out drains in the street so the puddle could drain. We later found out it was Eunice. If I could give this home more than five stars I would. Kauai has so much to offer, but you will find yourself looking forward to getting back to Secret Cove at the end of the day. Don't even bother going anywhere else.

We (family of 6 with 2 adult children) stayed at the villa for 10 days and this was as a dream come true! Kauai is a wonderful place on earth and the villa and its location are spectacular, the pictures give a good imagination, but it is even better - the true paradise! The villa is very well kept and extraordinary tasteful decorated, including very confy beds - an unusual vacation home. The cove is great for swimming and snorkeling and well protected from the currents, that could be very strong on other beaches. However, one have to be carefull with the corals, who sometetimes sharp corals and for surfing, you have to find an other beach. The cove host lots of beautiful fish. Shopping is not to far away in Kapaa (we used Foodland, the supermarked offers local products an fresh fish of great quality). The place is perfect located to all interesting places on Kauai. We can highly recommend the Villa. If you go out for breakfast or dinner, try Hemingways cafe for breakfast, great place! For dinner the japanese restaurant Kintaro and the Hukilau Lanai for fish and Hawaiian food (bit more expensive but excellent). Blue Hawaiian helicopters did a great job in showing the beauty of the island, our boat tour to the Na Pali Coast with Kauai Sea tours on the katamaran " Lucky Lady" was great, too, both can be highly recommended. There is an unbelievable beauty on this islands nature. One lives with the light: getting up with sunrise and go to bed not to late after sunset, very relaxing, so do not expect too much nightlive, but this is something we did not miss at all. Comming from Germany with a time difference of 12 hours and a fight time all together of nearly 26 hours, unfortunately, Kauai and the secret cove villa can not be our yearly vacation place, But with captain Kirks starships "Enterprise" beaming technology opportunities it truly would be! Our family of six stayed here comfortably for a week. Well appointed interesting decor with amazing views from all rooms and a great deck to relax and BBQ on. The living/ dining and kitchen were great gathering areas for meals, chatting and games but you could also feel privacy in any of the bedrooms especially the master as it is on one end of the house while the 2nd & 3rd on the other. Jan was a a lot of help and patient with all of our questions. Eunice keeps the house clean between guests and does a great job of it and both are very friendly and welcoming. We found the snorkeling right down stairs and a short path to be very enjoyable and sea turtles showed up at least two of the mornings to feed about three houses down the beach. Check the box near the kayaks before purchasing snorkel gear, it is not perfect but works fine. I think one of the best aspects that we all commented on was a perfect setting in which to do a lot or nothing and a feeling of seclusion. One morning it poured down rain but every other day the sunrise was spectacular. Yoda showed up the first morning and walked in like she owns the place then laid down in the kitchen never seeming worried that anyone would step on her. That was cool and I'm not a cat lover. All in all a great family time which will not be soon forgotten.
