Swimming permitted at lifeguard protected beach with provided daily passes. No swimming off the dock.
We found the place tidy and decorated with excellent taste, with every detail seen to. It has become our oasis of calm, and we’ll return year after year, if possible! Excellent setting, and what good would that be without the sense we’re in good hands with our hosts? Very grateful to have connected.
We hope to come here again in the summer!
We were here 4 years ago and returned with our expanded family this year. More great memories! Even made a hockey rink on the ice!
We've stayed at the Bethel House three times now while visiting family. It's always a pleasant stay.
Kevin's house is simply lovely. We just spent Thanksgiving there, and I must say it was the perfect getaway for the holidays. Located in a peaceful neighborhood, the house is by a small lake which makes it so charming. I cannot imagine how nice it must be in the Summer. The kitchen is equipped with anything you might ever need. There are more than enough towels and bed sheets at your disposal which is very nice, and there is a laundry room. Board games, a pool table, a foostable, a dart board, and a mini golf are located in the basement. Bikes and canoe are also available. There is simply everything anyone might need to spend a good time there. We also very much appreciated how tidy and clean we found the house when we arrive. And Kevin even prepared the wood to make our first fire in the chimney. We did not use it but there is a fire pit in the garden. We had such a nice time, we will definitely be back! Thank you Kevin!
My good buddy and I, faced with a long weekend alone with the kids while our wives were away, decided to join together and head out to this amazing Smallwood Lakeside beauty...with 6 kids in tow! Enter Kevin and his wife, the best VRBO'ers on planet earth, to save the day from potential kid calamity. The house was perfect and exactly as described, immaculately clean and full of fun for us parents and kids alike. We couldn't have made a better choice or found better hosts who went out of their way to ensure we had all that we needed to keep the kids entertained with plenty of suggestions for the area. The house was a pure fun zone for them...and we were thankful for our time. Highly recommended.
2 night getaway. House is stocked well. Lower level game room is fun. Across from Mountain Lake. Owner great communicator.
Clean cozy comfortable house with beautiful views of the lake and fall foliage. House had everything we needed. Owner was very kind and helpful. We even had deer visit us in the morning! Would highly recommend this home and definitely plan on returning . Thanks for a great stay!
Excellent time at LakeShore Home. Myself, husband, and our two children (14 & 9), along with our 3 dogs, just got home from an extended weekend in the Catskills. There was so much to do at the house (and we certainly took advantage of it!) that we only ventured out to go the Museum at Bethel Woods, dinner at Local Tap (delicious!), and for supplies. My family was a big fan of the fire pit and downstairs game room. We certainly overpacked because the house had more than what we needed (down to band aids and bug spray and everything in between). Little touches (Dove soaps, bikes, kayaks, etc etc) made me a “happy camper”. Our kids pleaded with us to stay longer- our 9yo wanted to stay for “two years” 😂 We will definitely be back next summer for a full week! Thank you again for letting us enjoy your home! The Berkebile’s
Such a beautiful property! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The days were warm and the nights cool and perfect or BBQing or having a nice fire in the fire pit outside. Very private corner lot in a quite picturesque neighborhood. Kevin is very kind and quick to respond. The house is clean and offers everything you can possibly need during your stay. Cannot wait to come back again next year 🙂
6 of us came from Illinois for Woodstock 2019! The location was absolutely perfect! The home was beautiful and very well kept. Kevin was great answering all of our questions before and during our stay. He even let us know some unusual circumstances that were happening with Woodstock so we could tackle them before our arrival, which was GREAT! The home manual had great info beyond home instructions. There were plenty of bath towels. The only thing we all wanted was there could have been more a/c units in the home. There is only one a/c unit in the upstairs bedroom. We did have lots of fans, but our visit was during a hot weekend and we are all over 55 and we run hot LOL. Because of the busy schedule of Woodstock, we didn't have enough time to sit around and enjoy the home more, but we sure loved our coffee and breakfast every morning while overlooking the beautiful lake! We should have added one more day to rest and relax. Thank you for a most memorable weekend at your beautiful home!!! Woodstock 2019 was AWESOME!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!
When we entered the property we were more than pleased. Feels like home. Beautiful layout and so much space. The people who we met while kayaking and at the beach were so very friendly. Owners respond quickly and are very kind. We can not wait to stay again.
Loved it! Loved It! Clean, comfortable, you have everything you need and more! Kevin is friendly and helpful! We enjoyed the lake, fishing and beach! Highly recommended! Thank you! We'll be back!
First of all the owner was amazing. Communication was excellent very accommodating, just over all great. The house is equipped with anything you can possibly need. The kids hung out in the bottom floor. Enjoying the amenities. Lake beautiful, we fish kayak. We had an amazing time. Thank you so much.
My husband and I are recent empty nesters and we were fortunate to be able to stay here and reconnect with our 3 kids! The house and lake are perfect for enjoying quality time together and creating lasting memories! The house was easy to find, clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated and very spacious. Loved the open well equipped kitchen. We cooked homemade meals every night and ate at the screened in table. Awesome game room with so much to do. The lake is beautiful and peaceful. We kayaked, swam at the beach and relaxed on the dock. The road around the lake is perfect for bike riding! We also found some good hiking trails. We saw deer, rabbits, frogs and turtles. Plenty of places to shop nearby. The owner Kevin was also very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had! Thank you Kevin and Laura for sharing your home!!
For the last three summers, my friends and I have been fortunate enough to book Kevin's home in Smallwood. This is a luxurious cabin in a wonderfully beautiful area of a community in the Catskills. It is simply perfect. I've stayed in several other homes in the area. This one is by far the best. Everything you can ever need is provided for you. A full kitchen inside and functional grill outside allow you to cook up and hold a bountiful feast. All of the appliances you could want are provided in sterling condition. The beds are very comfortable, on par with hotel bedrooms. Towels, sheets, and air conditioning are provided for your comfort. Two full, spotless bathrooms make having multiple guests easy to facilitate. There are a number of games provided including a pool table, putting green, and foosball table. You can keep a whole party entertained summer or winter, rain or shine. The house is one of our favorite parts of our summer vacation. You will not be disappointed in booking your stay at Kevin's home!
Our group of 9 friends - 3 moms and 6 teens had a fantastic stay at the lake house. A wonderful place to relax, connect and play! The layout of the home was perfect for giving the adults some quiet time while the kids hung out in the well equipped basement. The community beach was a fun place to gather as a group and the ice cream stand there was a great surprise on a hot summer afternoon. We enjoyed the deck, bbq, fire pit and screened in porch for outside dining. Thank you for the memories. We’ll be back!
Such a well equipped house. Things for all ages. Loved the indoors and outdoors. Great vacation house!!
Kevin was very accommodating on short notice. This house was exactly how it appeared online and we had a great couple days at the lake.
This place is fantastic. Perfect place for a relaxing get away with friends and/or family. Kayaking on the lake, biking and swimming. Fishing off the dock was so much fun AND the Woodstock museum only a few miles away was amazing. Highly recommend this house and location!
Had a great time! Fully equipped with anything you may need. Lots of sports equipment in the garage, kitchen well stocked with plates, utensils, pots, pans, and even serving pieces. House was absolutely big enough for 8 -9 people. Little ones had a great time on the lake and exploring the surrounding area. Early morning coffee on the deck was my favorite part, and Making s'mores at the firepit and playing board games filled our nights. Thank you Kevin for a wonderful stay! We will see you again.
Lovely stay, super comfortable. Kevin was very thorough and easy to communicate with. We had a great time.
Perfect family getaway.hope to return when grandson is older and we can bike and boat!
From the minute we drove up and then walked in, everyone loved the place! It is well-equipped with so much to do whetehr indoors or out, day or night...you will find something fun and exciting to make your time go by so nquickly (too
This house by the lake is super clean and comfortable. The house had everything we needed for our romantic getaway, including a starter pack of wood by the fire and the owner was quick to respond to my inquiries prior to our visit. Unfortunately, the weather was not conducive to bike riding or kayaking but there is plenty to do in the area if you explore. Nearby White Lake has some very good restaurants. We would definitely return with the kids in warmer weather.
The house is spacious, clean, warm, has all the necessities for cooking. Bonuses are a game room and kids toys in the basement and sleds/scooters in the garage, the kids would never get bored. We have also enjoyed walking around the lake and skiing at the Holiday mountain. I would recommend this rental for both winter and summer vacation.
We have stayed twice at this house; it’s clean, quiet and comfortable. Communication with the owners is great. Plus, a friendly doe and her two fawns paid us to a visit on two occasions; looking for a snack. Thankfully we had a few apples to share; it’s a treat to enjoy the local wildlife.
Very clean home with lots of pots, pans, glasses, bakeware and more! Beautiful views of the lake and friendly local deer who came to visit us every day. Kevin, the host was very accommodating, and made sure we had everything we needed as well as providing the local newsletter with upcoming events and attractions. The deck is wonderful, and although it was snowing when we visited, I enjoyed sitting and watching the fog on the lake in the morning.
I remember this warm and cozy house ... and really want to come back ..))
My husband, dog Joe and I went to Kevin's cabin for 2 nights. Kevin was so accommodating and kind when booking with him. The house is great, I love how open the first floor is! We went for some great walks, stayed inside and cozied up to a fire and enjoyed some much needed rest and relaxation. We fed a family of deer, they even ate out of my husband's hand! Beautiful sweet animals, we got so many apples and carrots the cashier asked if we had horses. We had a lovely time. Thank you!
An extra cleaning fee was deducted from my deposit. Kevin the owner claims it was because we used all the towels and all the beds and the pots had to be scrubbed. Already paid the cleaning fee and left the house clean. Iv'e seen other renters with similar reviews. Makes me think he makes this up to milk more money from peoples stay. He ruined my relaxing weekend with his constant harassment through text messaging about the garbage to be out for pickup. i was surprised to see massive amounts of trash when i got there that haven't been picked up for weeks. Everytime i passed in front of the house it smelled. I complained to Kevin about this when i first arrived and he said garbage truck would pick it up the next day but never did for the whole 3 days i spent there. what owner sends pics of pots from the dishwasher to your phone??!! isn't that what the cleaning fee is for? Unfortunately homeaway doesn't do a great deal to protect its customers. i made a case about this to them and they never followed up with me.
What a wonderful house. Laura and Kevin have thought about EVERYTHING. We had never done a VRBO so wasn't sure if we needed to bring sheets, towels, hairdryer, etc.... Well they thought of it all. Extras too. Just enjoyed so much sitting by one of the sliding glass doors and looking out at the lake. Also watching deer walking across the driveway. Husband even commented how charming the house was decorated. Very comfortable. Plenty of games from pool table to board games. Truly something for everyone. The house was warm and inviting. Sat outside on one of the benches and just enjoyed the cool air in the mornings. House had different spaces for all different ages. That is important to us. A large family would not be on top of one amother here. Loved that aspect! Will be back!!
We couldn't be happier about our stay. It was the perfect size for our family reunion. Everyone had a blast, including the dogs and the kids. House was very clean and Kevin was very helpful and responsive. The place had everything you could ever need!
We had an amazing time in the house and enjoyed all it had to offer. the pool table, kayaks, etc. The owner ,Kevin, was very accommodating and even managed to get us beach passes despite the late notice
Attractive, comfortable home with ample lighting and outlets. Updated and clean, nicely supplied. Comfortable beds. Thorough instructions were available, along with much information about activities and amenities in the area.
We loved the Bethel Lake House. We came to Bethel to see Trombone Shorty at Bethel Woods. The house was only 10-15 minutes away from the venue. It was a rainy weekend, but there was plenty to do in the house. We played pool, did puzzles, cooked delicious meals, and enjoyed the view of the lake. We would definitely recommend it and would love to return.
We had an amazing time relaxing before our wedding. All my friends enjoyed fishing on the docks and one kid caught her first fish ever!
Last year, my friends and I got together at this house for a great weekend up in the Catskills. Since that experience, I have looked no further for a destination when we stay in the area. We were thrilled to stay in Kevin & Laura's home again this year. It features seven comfortable beds, two queen and five twin, that accommodated eight adults. The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the implements and equipment necessary to cook a feast. The grill came with more than enough propane that we could've barbecued every night for a week and been set. There were spices, utensils, plates, and knives galore, setting us up to cook everything we needed. The basement is filled with so much entertainment, it's unfortunate that we weren't around the house enough to make use of it. There's a full sized pool table, a putting green, plenty of board games, and a piano. We've had several years of experiences in Smallwood, and by far, Kevin & Laura's house is the nicest. We really hope that we can continue to return to Kevin's home for our annual retreat!
This house was perfect and the owner Kevin thought of all the little details that made the stay even better. We had a good amount of rain during our stay, but the comfortable house and the pool table in particular made it so that my kids barely noticed the rain! They had a great time and we would definitely return to this rental in the future. Lake was beautiful and perfect for kayaking and boating. Thanks so much!
From the minute we booked our stay Kevin made us feel relaxed and welcomed to this beautiful lake side property. Everything was perfect, from the friendly deer in the front yard to the multiple fish caught and released by my brother. The house was adequately equipped to make our stay easy and relaxed! We would definitely consider a return trip to this beautiful home on the lake! Thank you Kevin!!!
The house was impeccably clean . It is very well stocked with everything you can think of and then some. The kitchen dining and living room has an open floor plan with 2 sliding glass doors and a beautiful view of the lake which you can't tell by the photos. The house is centrally located in the Catskills. Depending what and where you want to go you only have a 20 to 30 minute drive to most places. Smallville is a neat little Hamlet within Bethel. I would rent the house again.
We stayed at the house during the Christmas Holiday to visit family; rather than staying in one of the local hotels again. It was quiet and clean; our host's instructions were clear and concise. Having stayed in other homes and hotels in the area; ;definitely will keep this on our list for future visits.
We truly enjoyed our stay. Our goal was to relax and enjoy quality time with one another, and we did just that. This house on the lake is beautifully decorated, and so comfortable with roomy chairs and couches in the living room, with access to an large outside deck and views of the lake. And there's quiet, sunlit reading areas, and a loft retreat with a beautiful view of the backwoods. We really used the well-stocked, pretty kitchen, and cooked wonderful meals -there was any cooking tool or utensil for the most seasoned cooks. We went to a local diner just once- it was great, but we loved the house so much that we found ourselves preferring to stay in because the surrounding were so pleasant. We walked the lake, took out the bicycles, there's a game room downstairs, kayaks- there was even a closet with anything we might need for our dog. He also loved it, and we would all recommend this delightful house on the lake. We left relaxed and very, very happy with this getaway. The owners were wonderful to work with and we hope to come back!
We had a lovely time at White Lake. The house is wonderful, comfortable, and has all the amenities you could possibly need for vacation. We made use of the kayaks and fishing gear, grilled, and made fires every night. There's a bunch of stuff to do in the area too but we decided to be lazy and hang around the house only. Overall one of the best and most relaxing vacations we've had in a while. Would absolutely recommend to others. We can't wait to return!
My family and I were at Kevin's house for two night and three days. We enjoyed every bit of it. We had a bin fire , BBQ and walks around the lake. We had plans to do things in the area , but when we got to the house we didn't want to leave. The house was just so warm , comfortable and also relaxing. My kids had a great time enjoying the lake , my wife enjoyed the peace and quite. Ty Kevin !!
Great retreat. Being able to fish at anytime is awesome. The owner aloud us to use the kayaks and my friends have never used them before. They had a blast. Catch and release lake, but I still pulled in 3 great pike, and 2 very nice bass. One night it rained so we used the outside screened in porch for poker. Didn't get wet, and no bugs. I would rent it again and again.
Our second annual family reunion at the Bethel House was even better than the first
Over the last several years, my friends and I have stayed in Smallwood and the surrounding area for an annual summer reunion. I can therefore say, without a doubt, that Kevin owns the nicest home in all of Smallwood. This palatial house in this serene hamlet of the Catskills boasts several spacious bedrooms, complete with luxuriously comfortable beds, a full kitchen equipped for preparing a bountiful feast, and entertainment to amuse people of all ages for days on end. Everything was as described, and Kevin made sure to attend to every single request and tend to every question we had. There was ample information provided on the town and the surrounding area which enabled us to have an excellent weekend. We had an excellent time at Kevin’s home and I will look no further when I seek a place for us to stay next summer.
Kevin did a great job of making sure we were comfortable during out stay. Home is fully stocked. We especially loved the kayaks, bikes and fishing supplies all included. We will be back!
Very nice location with beautiful views of the lake. House is very well maintained and quaintly decorated. Perfect location for kayaking, fishing and quiet surroundings.
Well-furnished, comfortable, and filled with fun activities
Great place to relax and enjoy nature. Just have to bring yourself and food. Everything you need is at the house including BBQ pit, fire pit, w/d, pool table, screened in porch, kayak and more… The lake is filled with fish and only few feet away from the house. Even though I was solo it is very family friendly and very close to everything you need. Had a great time relaxing and watching the deer and other animals on the property. Very privet and friendly people in the community. It’s one of those places where everyone waves to each other. Really nice change from NYC people I am used to. Fishing was great and other lakes are close by as well. I will definitely go back when I need some down time. The owners were really attentive and helpful. I give it an A++++ for a nice quite down time retreat.
Our family loved it! We had Grandpa (me) and Grandma, our 23 year-old daughter and boyfriend, our son and his wife and our 20 month old grand daughter and our little dog Muggs. Every one of us had a great time, from family cooking in the spacious kitchen to kayaking, biking and enjoying smores around the backyard fire pit! The house was more than comfortable and we enjoyed the downstairs play room and table top games and the big bonus for us as huge hockey fans...we were able to catch the NHL playoff games at night and enjoy them together in the living room too! Great wildlife on the lake! Nesting geese and red-winged-blackbirds on the island, various warblers, plenty of turtles, deer and if I'm correct, we even spotted a beaver not far from the dock. Plenty of privacy too. The houses around the lake are nicely spread out so it gives you that nice feeling of being alone, but not isolated. Our only problem was not being able to stay longer! The Smith's...perfect hosts!
I'd like to thank Kevin for his terrific hospitality. The house was awesome. Loved the view of the lake. Excellent bicycle riding around the lake and surrounding areas. It was close to Monticello Raceway and all other Catskills attractions. The house has everything you need for a memorable stay. The owner really wants his guests to have a terrific time. When the cable television service did not have the channel I wanted he offered to have the cable company install new equipment to get that channel. I declined since I was only there for three days but I did tell Kevin how much I appreciated the offer. I can't wait for my next visit to this beautiful house and the Catskills.
Kevin & Lauras place was just what the Dr. Ordered for a relaxing and fun getaway. They were very attentive and communicative. The place is stocked with all that you need to enjoy a weekend away
Kevin was the best HomeAway host we could have ever asked for. Before we even arrived he was sending link after link of activities taking place in the area for us to check out. The house was so charming, spacious, clean, and made for the perfect winter getaway. The lake was gorgeous and we had such a great experience getting snowed in and having to stay an extra night. Kevin was so gracious and was concerned about our safety so he gave us our extra snowed in night free of charge which was too kind. In summary: The location was picturesque. The house was adorable. Kevin was fantastic to work with. Anyone looking for a little winter (or summer) escape will be extremely happy they chose to stay here.
Honestly can say this was the best trip I have ever toke to go away for the weekend everyone had a great time very comfortable cabin not to far from the city witch was a big plus for all of us who was driving well kept clean we are planing on renting it out again we can't wait !
I stayed here with my two kids, wife and in-laws. Everyone had enough space to spread out. The place is very welcoming and feels like a home away from home. The lighting was perfect. Outdoor lights and indoor lights are on a timer, so you never walk into a dark home. The place is setup very well for traveling with a family. Our kids had fun playing in the basement. I will most definitely stay here again when visiting Monticello.
I wanted to give a 5 star rating for this lovely home, however I felt I couldn't because the sofa bed was broken so my daughter and son in law had to sleep on an air mattress, since my daughter has back problems this was a hardship for her. Once that sofa bed is replaced the house will be perfect. It is a lovely house on a beautiful spot. The house was very clean and stocked with all you need. Kevin was very attentive to our needs, he was very easy to reach with any questions I had. My family had a very nice time while enjoying the house and it's surroundings.
The house is very comfortable and stocked for summer activities, rain or shine. That includes just sitting and enjoying the view, eating outside or in or kayaking and fishing at the lake. We swam in the nearby state park and enjoyed visiting the Bethel Museum, too. Just right.
The house location and amenities were fantastic. We hope to be able to return soon. The folks at Smallwoods were neighborly and friendly. The game room was fun when it rained and taking the kayaks out was the highlight of our stay.
House was extremely clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Beautiful view of the lake we got lucky and were able to enjoy some time walking around it. Kevin was very easy to get in contact with and answered all my questions very promptly. Would defiantly return here for another trip.
I have said more than once, I want to go back to the Lake House! What a wonderful tine we had! We totally lucked out with the weather and were able to enjoy walks around the lake and kayaking. The house is extremely well appointed. Not only that, it is cozy and inviting. The one thing that would be helpful is putting labels on the light switches to indicate which light they control. :) Sitting on the deck was peaceful and serene. It was great to be able to get away to a peaceful spot that was less than 3hrs away! Kevin was extremely prompt and helpful with any questions concerning the house and attractions/restaurants and events going on in the area for the time we were there. I look forward to my next time!
Great vacation house ,very clean and maintained. Everything was as described. The owner was very responsive and reliable. Would go back for sure
Fantastic property very clean and homely. Surrounding area has much to offer and the lake is peaceful. Would definitely come back.
My friends and I stayed at Kevin and Laura's home in Bethel, NY and our stay could not have been better! We were a group of 9 friends gathering for a pre-Thanksgiving celebration. We cooked all weekend in the beautiful, open chef's kitchen with a great view of the lake and foliage. Kevin and Laura had all the amenities we needed-- from whisks, potato mashers and butcher knives to wine glasses and carafes! Kevin and Laura were so pleasant to work with and quick to respond to any questions about the house. We are hoping to make Kevin and Laura's house part of our new Friendsgiving tradition!
My husband and I enjoyed our weekend at Kevin and Laura's home in Bethel, NY. The home is beautiful, clean, and charming. It sits directly across a small, private lake, and the view is wonderful. Kevin was wonderful and easy to work with as we made arrangements for our stay. He was also quick to respond whenever I emailed him with a question. Overall, we had a fantastic weekend, relaxing and spending time with our dog. It is always wonderful to find a lake house that is also pet friendly! I definitely recommend staying at this home. It is a perfect getaway spot.
We loved our time at the house. Great location in the Bethel area. Close to Bethel Woods, restaurants and the outdoors. Relaxing location with the lake a very short distance away. The house is well stocked and has a great layout. Very clean. Kevin was great to work with. Definitely will stay there again.
We rented Kevin's house for three weekends this summer. We started off rocky, but I chalked it up to a busy summer season. Kevin received my deposit via check, but then requested a paypal because he said he didn't get the check. So, I obliged, trusting all of the positive reviews here and that he did good business. However, both cashed the same day. He was not in touch with his business partner, who had gotten - and cashed - the check. When we arrived to the property, the house is well set up. However, it was all show. Everywhere we turned, there were issues. A broken screen door, a bad toaster, lights out on the patio, tv remotes that don't properly work, broken kayak seat, no bbq brush, mini-shower upstairs and worst off, uncomfortable beds. DESPITE all of this, we loved the location and we wanted to be good guests. We left a note when we left the first time detailing some of these things. By our third visit has become unacceptable business practices. First of all, the fridge could not handle food for three days. We had told him this on our last visit and were told that he used it successfully and it would work fine. There was a significant amount of good meats, dairy and expensive foods for our long weekend, which we were excited about. Kevin sent his housekeeper over to diagnose the situation and she just told us to call Kevin. We had to buy a cooler and ice for our Labor Day food. 24 hours later, Kevin sent a friend over to assess the situation. By the time he had come, our food cold by cooler. By day 3 it did get up to speed, but by then, we had to spend significant time managing the situation on our own because Kevin and his team kept saying the fridge was working. Now, we just got our deposit back with a note that we are being charged extra for cleaning. When we asked Kevin, he told us it was because we used all the towels and all the beds and the pots had to be scrubbed. We already paid his listed fee and now extra loads of laundry and elbow grease costs us more? Terrible at managing issues and keeping the house updated. Oh, and we never had working lights on the patio. One of us almost fell down the dangerous stairs in front. This house looks good, but if you actually need anything, Kevin is unhelpful and uncooperative. We are professionals with the utmost courtesy to Kevin's home and once Kevin got our money, he treated us like strangers. I really don't like writing reviews like this, but I feel its necessary. Bad energy.
What a great cabin and Kevin was so helpful throughout the process! The lake house is beautiful from top to bottom and so clean. Kevin provided us with all kinds of information regarding the area and answered any questions that we had. We loved playing the board games that were available and was a great way to relax with my family. What an experience for my family. A++++ for the lake house and the owners!
This house was very clean and organized. We took this trip for my BF to get away from constant stress. It was nice to be able to do things on our own time. The two person kayak was nice to see the entire lake and wildlife, and the included fishing poles and tackle boxes were a plus. We used the single person kayak too. Short trip and nice and calm without being boring.
The house was adequate and in a good location, near a nice lake. Would be good for a large family. Also not too far to drive to the Bethel Woods Museum. The living room & bedroom were comfortable enough with decent furniture. The house was also clean, however there was an annoying infestation of ants in the kitchen. Also, the outside stairs that go up to the house are unsafe and need to be repaired. The kitchen has wood counter tops with stains and what appeared to be some mold and definitely need to be updated. This is a nice house for a large group but definitely can use some updating.
We had a lovely stay at the lake house, we arrived late at night after a delayed flight into Newark and found the house easily and access was a breeze. The house was lovely and clean with lots of supplies. The kids loved the multi-levels and especially loved the games room in the basement. Because of this entertainment, it was a truly relaxing vacation for us! We loved visiting the lake and meeting lots of friendly people. Thank you Kevin for a great stay.
This cabin is absolutely perfect for a weekend away from the city. Could not recommend it strongly enough, and Kevin was great throughout the process. Watch out for the snapping turtles though! Not as friendly as the deer that stayed around for breakfast.
I rented this house for our upper managers for Mysterlands Music Festival. NO COMPLAINTS! Everyone loved it and thanked me for getting them such a great house. Will definitely get it again next year.
This home is, by far, offers the best accommodations in the Sullivan County, NY, region. The home is well-stocked, clean, updated, spacious, and beautiful. We literally wanted for nothing! The owner couldn't be more helpful and friendly, and kept us updated on various goings-on and things to do across the county. Our party consisted of my husband, me, our two adult daughters, one son-in-law, our three year-old granddaughter, and a dog. Had the weather cooperated, we'd have certainly indulged in lake and outdoor activities (kayaks, oars (possibly fishing poles?), included)! The location itself overlooks the lake, is nestled in a wooded area (we saw a family of deer meandering one morning), and is also minutes from the original Woodstock site, as is the companion Bethel Arts & Entertainment Center (the Woodstock Museum is a MUST see). This home also offered indoor activities, to include two, delightful, reading, nooks, a pool table, mini foos ball table, cards, board games, etc. You'll not regret choosing this home! We hope to stay there upon our return to that area. Note: My out-of-town brother chose a VRBO home in Swan Lake, NY, and his group was unhappy there for myriad reasons. In sum, I cannot possibly recommend this home in stronger terms!!
My husband, dog, and cat all took the trip from Long Island to this wonderful place near Woodstock. We had a relaxing trip where we and our pets felt at home and very comfortable. We took our dog for a couple of walks a day around the lake. She has never felt this relaxed in a new place. We took a drive to Woodstock and to a nearby distillery. Kevin and Laura were great and if we had any questions, they readily answered them. We appreciated the welcome basket filled with some goodies to munch on. We will be back for another visit when we have a chance.
Had a wonderful time with our family (including our dog) over the Valentine's Day weekend. This house was perfect for our winter getway since it included a well equipped game room (pool table, dart board, putting green, etc.) of which we made great use of. The open design of the living room/kitchen included a wood fireplace and was just the perfect place for us all to hang out and eat, play games, and watch the snow come down. The view of the frozen lake was amazing, and even though it was below zero temperatures at times outside, we were warm and cozy inside. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need (except for the food) which was really great. The owners of the house were very attentive before and during our stay, and made the whole experience worryfree so we could focus on enjoying our time in the lakehouse. Will definitely be looking to book this house again (maybe try for the warmer weather next trip).
We (5 adults and 4 children) were looking for a New Year's getaway not too far from home (southwestern Connecticut). We were so lucky to find this gem. Only two hours away from home, the house was comfortable with enough space for everyone to spread out and do their own thing. The open concept of the first floor is perfect for everyone to hang out together. There were plenty of things in the house to keep everyone entertained. The kids enjoyed having their own retreat down in the basement with the pool table, putting green and board games. The adults enjoyed sitting around the roaring fire and just hanging out. The house has all you need to be able to cook in and not have to go out anywhere if you don't feel like it. The walk around the lake is beautiful and everyone in the neighborhood is so friendly. The owner, Kevin, was so accommodating. He was very responsive and helpful when I was pestering him with questions about the area. I cannot say enough about Kevin and his great communication from where the grocery stores are to where you can go to eat to what is happening in the area. He was always available whether it was by email, phone or text...thanks, Kevin. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. We are definitely planning to go back and are looking forward to it. Kevin and Laura, thank you for making your house available to us to ring in the New Year and escape for a few days!
We stayed in the house for 3 nights at the end of December with a family and friends, 5 kids and 4 adults all together (and a dog). The location of the house was perfect, on the lake and in the woods at the same time. Big, open, light, clean, comfortable house. With everything you might need in it. Kids (when inside the house) spent thereentire time in the basement - great room to keep you busy. So adults got to enjoy time with each other in the living/dining/kitchen area. The owners are very responsive and helpful. We are coming back this winter and summer as well.
I really cannot recommend this home or this renter highly enough. Our group was a party of 9 late 20's/early 30's New York professionals (and their dogs) looking to get the heck out of the city for the weekend. Kevin was always quick with responses and was super helpful with suggestions on what to do in the area, which we ended up not even checking out this time because the house and surrounding trails were just too awesome and there wasn't enough time in the day! The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes and in cooking 4 large meals for 9 people, we never were short a utensil or cookware item, which I can tell you is a masterpiece all of its own in a rental home. The pool table (the main selling point of the house for our group) was a beautiful table and the pool cues were actually very nice pool cues, which is always awesome to stumble upon unexpectedly. The putting green also added some unexpected fun for the guys in our group, and surprisingly the dart board wasn't used, but it was there, too! The non-pool players in our group had fun with a puzzle of a New York City terrace that's missing one piece (you'll see what I mean) and a camp fire on Saturday night with smores was really the icing on the cake. Actually, no, the icing on the cake was the stunning fall foliage because that was absolutely fantastic. But that was completely circumstantial so the credit can't all go to Kevin :) We look forward to returning to this wonderful home in the future, and if you're thinking about renting it, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Thanks so much again for the great weekend, Kevin!!
This house was exactly what me and my 4 friends needed. It was a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful lake that was perfect to run around every morning. Everyone was super friendly and we took out the kayaks one day and floated in the lake enjoying the sun. I needed to destress from the hectic life of New York city and this was the place to do it. The town was awesome- some of the best BBQ I've had in a while down by White Lake. Kevin was a super nice guy and was beyond helpful with emails and advice on what to do and where to go. The fire pit was key and the grill was great. All in all I had a great time.
This is a great place. It was immaculately clean, and very comfortable. The lake is so quiet without motorboats, and we took advantage of the kayaks as much as possible. The kitchen is incredibly well-equipped, but if you want to eat out, you'll find excellent places nearby. I would definitely recommend this house!
Stayed at this home in May of this year (2014). My wife and I were visiting the area, in particular we wanted to be close to the original Woodstock music festival site. This home is about a 5 to 10 minute drive from the site so its location was perfect for us. The owners were wonderful to work with, cannot emphasize that enough. They were helpful in providing info on the surrounding area, events, things to do, and so forth. The home was clean, and located right on a lake in a very pretty area. Each morning we had deer in our yard! My wife I enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return to this home again.
We rented Bethel Lake House to celebrate an extended family Easter and our son's 1st birthday. the house is very clean, and family friendly with spacious 3 bedrooms, great kitchen and living room. our kids had a blast exploring all the toys, games, and books (very well stocked!!). we had our first egg hunt ever; walked around the lake; grilled and even made s'mores in the fire pit! we were super lucky with the weather--being able to bask in the sun on a porch and enjoy the silence gave us a nice break from our hectic lives in the city's hustle and bustle. Kevin was extremely helpful and available at a drop of a hat for any questions or concerns. loved the house's decor and personal touches which give the house a unique character that tell a story about who the owners might be. everything (except the tile floors) are new, and recently renovated. i have recommended this house to a friend of mine who might vacation here in the summer.
We enjoyed a great weekend at the lake house. Kevin was very easy to work with, and provided lots of information about the area. We were busy with preparations for our half marathon runners, but found time to enjoy a walk around the lake, a carbo-loading dinner, and comfortable sleeping arrangements for all in our group. Thank you for helping make our weekend memorable! We hope to come back and enjoy many of the local hikes! The Bethel Market Cafe was fantastic for lunch!!!!
My husband and I hadn't been away alone together since our honeymoon last June. We were looking for a quiet weekend away and we got so much more! The house was amazing. Had every amenity possible and it was impeccably clean. Beautiful furnishings. It's a house I would buy myself. The lake view was so nice and the sunrise coming up over it was breathtaking. We mainly enjoyed the fireplace and the game room downstairs. The owners were a pleasure to work with and were very helpful with area information. We will definitely rent again.
My friends (three couples) and I spent New Years Eve here and had an amazing time. The pictures do not do this property justice. The house is beautiful and spacious, and has pretty much everything you could need. We stayed here for three nights and did not need to leave the house. The board games, pool table, putting green and cooking occupied the majority of our time. Kevin is an extremely responsive, friendly and straightforward owner. He answered my texts and emails always within the same day (if not within the same hour). We were welcomed with a lovely and very thoughtful basket of snacks. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. We did not leave the house but I know the area well and there is plenty to do. We look forward to coming back during the summer and taking advantage of the lake.
My wife and I were looking for a place to go for our 20th wedding anniversary. Each summer we drive up here to drop off our Boy Scout to TMR Scout Camp and we think how nice it must be in the fall. Plus having the Bethel Woods museum for Woodstock nearby, it was a big plus for us music lovers. The resorts in the area were asking $200-300 per night. I truly stumbled upon the site and this property and immediately said, this is the one! My wife was a little hesitant about staying in someone's house but I said we should give it a shot. Kevin has been so easy to deal with. He has sent me what's going on newsletters to keep me posted on events that will be happening. When we arrived there was a cute basket filled with bottle of wine and assorted snacks. The house is gorgeous, decorated in country accents, and an open floor plan. Living room, dining room and kitchen all share the ground floor space, with two bedrooms down a short hall to the back. A circular staircase in the corner rises up to a second floor loft with master bedroom and bath towards the rear. A small balcony is outside the upper bedroom that looks out to beautiful landscape. The basement rec area is the full size of the house, minus the garage space. All amenities you would want in a place. Although it was past foliage, the house sits across from the private lake which is providing an awesome view for me as I write this. Kayaking, swimming in summer must be awesome. I was happy just drinking my cup of morning Joe and taking in the landscape. We found some great places to eat nearby. Breakfast at Bethel Market Cafe was basic but delicious. And I dare you to leave there without making a purchase from the plethora of homemade baked goods to get fat on while you vacation. Benji and Jakes in Kauneonga Lake is a great stop for awesome pizza and a sunset view over the lake that can't be beat. For dinner, we stopped at Old Homestead in Monticello and although it was crowded, the hostess sat us immediately and served us quickly. I recommend the ribeye. We also ate at Hennings in Eldred and had a chateau briand that was prepared to perfection. My wife enjoyed the Steak Diane served with organic greens and mashed potatoes. We are leaving right now to enjoy Sunday brunch at Dancing Cat Saloon. I highly recommend this property to folks wanting a cool place to go with the kids or a romantic getaway like we did. Thanks Kevin and Laura!
Our daughteres and their boyfriends drove up from Manhattan and met us for a long weekend of hiking (Sam's Point) and leisurely walks around the adjacent lake. The house was very comfortable and well appointed. We made terrific dinners, played numerous board games and pool and all in all had a wonderfully relaxing weekend. The house is just a short drive from the Woodstock Festival Museum at Bethel Woods which was enjoyed by both the oldsters and youngsters in our group. Most mornings one could stand on the porch and watch the deer mosey through the property. We look forward to another stay at the Bethel Lake House.
We spent the weekend of October 25th, at this wonderful house. It had all the amenities you could look for. The house was so comfortable and the view of the lake was amazing. One thing I really noticed was the night stars.....make sure you look up...the sky looked like a blanket of glitter. The owners, Kevin and Laura we so very accommodating and easy to work with. They sent a welcome basket with treats which I thought was so nice. There is so many things to do there, even though it was October we were busy every minute. The Racino, Bethel Woods, Tilly's Diner are great places to patron. We really didn't want to leave and cant wait to go back. Thank you Kevin and Laura, hope to return very soon.
We recently spent Columbus Day weekend at the Bethel Lake House Getaway, and it exceeded our expectations. Our group consisted of about 10 young professionals from New York City looking for a fun, relaxing, and natural getaway, and we found it here. First, the house itself was beautiful and well laid out for our group. The bedrooms were individually heat-controlled rooms which was great for us. The large central space with sliding doors and deck allowed us all to hang out and eat and enjoy the lake views. The gratuitous supply of fun indoor activities, namely, pool table, darts, mini-golf, board games, cards, internet and TV was equally matched by a lot of outdoor activities, including kayaks for 4, BBQ grill, fire-pit, lakeside dock, and horseshoes could have kept us entertained for a week. However, we were distracted by all that the surrounding area had to offer. We spent all day Saturday at an outdoor craft beer festival at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Thanks to Kevin & Laura for suggesting we use a local cab service that had 15-person van which was perfect for our group. The nearby hiking trails were great, and we all agreed that we'd never seen more stars than from the shores of that lake. Lastly, the service was impeccable. Kevin and Laura answered all of our questions and did everything to make sure all of us were comfortable and the weekend went smoothly. There were the extra sheets, towels, soap, and other amenities necessary for a group of our size. The pictures speak for themselves, but we highly recommend this place for any size group of any age. Thank you Kevin and Laura!
We recently spent two weeks at Kevin's Bethel Lake House Getaway and could not be happier with the location and accommodations. The lake, visible from the deck of the house, is absolutely beautiful at all times of the day. Viewed best from camp chairs on the dock, the sunrise viewed through the morning fog was mesmerizing. The afternoon brought views of the lakeside foliage, just starting to change colors when we were there. And at night, the stars were spectacular. Living near a mid-size city, we had forgotten what a sky full of stars looked like......The house itself was very comfortable, and had all the kitchen and dining equipment you could want to use. There were plenty of towels, linens, etc. I don't have enough room for all of the small touches that were attended to, but it was nice to see things like brand new dish soap, unopened packages of paper napkins, and fresh bars of soap in the bathrooms. A welcome basket of snacks was also appreciated. A very spacious living room/dining area was large enough for six adults to share comfortably. The downstairs area was like a small pub, with a pool table and dartboard. And the garage was full of equipment for the adventurous, three kayaks, fishing equipment, and even a unicycle (?!?).....The area had plenty to do, and when we could tear ourselves away from the lake, we found time for golf, the Woodstock museum (highly recommended), and even got down to New York for a ballgame....Kevin was very helpful and easy to work with. We can't thank him and Laura enough for providing us with such a wonderful, peaceful setting for our vacation.
We stayed here for a family holiday and there were 10 adults and 4 children. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably and lots of blankets and towels. The cabin was perfect for our vacation, very convenient to have a washer and dryer and a kitchen with everything you need. The family room was very nice with a great fireplace that kept the entire house warm. Owen was very easy to work with and always answered all of our questions very quickly. I will definitley return with my family, would like to come in the summer to take advantage of all the summer activities around the area. Overall our stay was great and we want to thank Owen for being so helpful in the process and throughout our stay.
This home is truly wonderful, the perfect location for a relaxing get away and Owen makes the whole process absolutely seamless. I've rented this home twice, during two different seasons. The first was for a week long vacation with a group of friends at the end of July, the second for a fun fall get away with the same group for a week this past October. During the summer we took advantage of the lake, kayaking and swimming, and enjoyed long dinners outside on the large wrap around porch. Its also a relatively short drive to local hiking trails and mountains. During the Fall we soaked up the beautiful foliage with long walks around the lake and sipping mulled wine on the porch. We also drove to a nearby apple orchard for some apple picking and took advantage of the Harvest Wine festival up at the Bethel Arts Center. Owen's home is truly your home away from home. We can't decide which time of year we prefer being up there, both the Autumn and the Summer were so wonderful for different experiences. I can't recommend this place enough!
The pictures do the property justice. Private, quiet, directly across a small road from the lake, this property is tree covered and lovewly. the birdsong from the deck which gets geat sun and light is terrific. The beach makes swimming accessible, although you can go in from the house as well. We particularly enjoyed the kayaking on the lake in the still moments of earlist morning and dusk. Eating on the screened porch and cooking in the amply supplied kitchen was a great treat. Owen was accommodating and reponsive to all qauestions and concerns. We were there every weekend and biked alot in the surrounding areas, attended concerts in Bethel woods and had family and friends join us for long summer days. A great get away less than two hours from NYC, would definitely go back.
This place is awesome!! Owen is very easy to deal with and the place is better than described. We will certainly be staying up there for a tournament again!!
We stayed over the Christmas Holiday week. The weather was very mild which allowed us to take long walks around the lake- really beautiful area. The house is very large and spacious but still has a warm cozy feel. Owen is great, very easy to work with. He provided us with lots of good tips on sights to explore and nearby restaurants. We will definitely vacation at the Lakeside House again.
My boyfriend and I spent five nights here and really enjoyed our escape from city living. The house has every amenity you could need and is private and comfortable. It's much bigger than it appears in the photos. We kayaked some, sat near a fire outside each night, took our time eating our breakfast on the huge deck each morning, explored nearby towns, and got to relax surrounded by nature and quiet. Great choice. Owen, the owner, was very helpful and quick to answer any questions.
My family and I just spent a terrific and relaxing week at this lovely vacation getaway near Bethel, New York. We can't say enough at how wonderful the house was and how well it met all of our needs. When we arrived it was spotless and well-maintained. There was plenty of room (we had six adults ranging in ages from mid-twenties to late sixties) and we were all pleased how comfortable it was. Plenty of room to relax, read, play games, or even just to chill. out on the lovely deck. The area near the property featured a beautiful lake that was great for swimming (a very nice beach is nearby) or kayaking (kayaks were provided), and the road around the lake was perfect for long walks or jogging. Tennis courts were also a 10 minute ride away! Shops nearby provided groceries as well as great restaurants for those nights we did not want to eat in. Twenty miles away we had opportunities to go rafting on the Delaware (a must if anyone is interested), and the Bethel Arts Center provided a great museum describing the Woodstock Festival of years gone by. The owner of this home could not have been nicer as he answered all of our questions and was helpful in giving us ideas of places to go and things to see We definitely would recommend this lovely vacation home to anyone who wants a relaxing and quiet getaway in a beautiful area! We certainly hope to make a return visit one day!!!!!
Friends and I rented house for entire summer. Owen (the owner) is wonderful to deal with. The entire process was so easy, I thought it was too good to be true. House is even nicer than the photos show, house is very large, with many different seating areas so you never feel crowded. House has everything you could ever need, dishes, pots, silverware, etc... Washer, Dryer, dishwasher, gas grill, charcoal grill, pool table, games, and so on. Lake is right in front of house. House is perfect for adults and kids. Whole area in basement filled with kids books and toys. Anytime we've had questions Owen responds asap - I found text messaging to be easiest. If you don't hear from him right away, know that you will soon, Owen is a true sweetheart. The area is just beautiful. Enough kind words can't be said.
We stayed at the lake house for a weekend in February, 2 couples and 3 kids. The house was comfortable and convenient for skiing at a small ski slope that was perfect for beginners. Lots of room and outdoor space to wander. The owner was easy to work with and helpful.
A group of friends and I rented this cabin for a christmas reunion. We traveled from different parts of Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Owen was excellent to deal with and could not have been more helpful in his accomodations. There is good reason that every review on here is five stars! This cabin is simply gorgeous. Three stories, two baths, and directly on the lake! I reccomend a trip to the nearby Woodstock museum while you are out this way. I cant wait to go back in the summer so that we can enjoy the lake! The amount of space and the location that you get are above and beyond! We will deffinitely be back!
We were four adults just looking for a quiet weekend within easy driving distance of Philadelphia and Boston. The house was wonderful, the kitchen was very well-equipped, Owen was great to deal with. Would definitely do it again! We walked around the lake each day, a perfect 50-minute walk on a brisk fall afternoon.
My family had such a great time here. There were 11 of us in our group and we fit comfortably ( 8 adults, 1 child & 2 babies). We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful view right from the house. I don't know what was more beautiful watching the sun come up over the lake or the reflection of the moon in it. We loved our peaceful family walks by the lake & through the woods behind the house, not to mention watching the deer playing in the front yard! The open concept of the house was very nice also. You could be cooking in the kitchen, sitting at the dining table or in the living room and be able to talk to each other. It has been a few weeks since my family was there ( 10/16/2010 - 10/25/2010) and we still haven't stopped talking about how much we enjoyed ourselves and our time together. It was a vacation we will never forget. We all left saying the only thing we would have changed would be staying longer. We had the house for 10 days and it was so enjoyable that we still wanted more time there. We hated to leave. It was truly a wonderful experience for all of us. We all ( my husband, daughter and I, my parents, 2 of my sisters and their husbands) would not only recommend this house but look forward to hopefully enjoying another stay there soon!
We just got back from a great week enjoying this cottage!! The house was huge and had so much space for our four kids and their friends to hang out and have a blast-it has its's own pool table, dart board and large place downsairs for the kids to hang out -especially helpful on rainy days! Rental came with three kayaks which we all really enjoyed-lake is beautiful and the property is so private! Everything is there-just bring yourself ! The firepit area is great along with the huge deck on the house-very relaxing. Owen was the best-very nice to deal with and very trustworthy! If your looking for a great place to go - this is it in more ways than one! We went to the near by Woodstock site and the The Museum at Bethel Woods Art Center. Very enjoyable for all of us! We also went to near by Lake Superior Park and rented paddle boats - also a great time!! Thanks again Owen for everything!
This is a wonderful house in a beautiful, peaceful, lakeside setting. The house is large, comfortable, clean, well-equipped and well-maintained, and well worth the price; the surrounding area is filled with fun, interesting and relaxing activities (we especially enjoyed fishing and boating on nearby lakes and hiking in the woods) and convenient to shopping. We were a large group with lots of young children and dogs and the house is very kid and pet friendly; the basement is filled with kids' toys, games and books (and a great pool table!). Above all, the owner was a pleasure to deal with. There were a few times when we had questions while on site and he was always extremely responsive by email and very interested in making sure everything went smoothly for us. One of us saw a bear on our last day so definitely keep the lids securely on the trash cans! We would definitely come back and would recommend the property to anyone without hesitation.
Friendly owner. Great place, so serene, peaceful. Perfect place for some R&R. Amazing views, thanks, Owen!
Decided to do a last minute trip with another couple..the house was clean, nice, very quiet and cozy. GREAT little lake to fish on, close to woodstock and some stores..... We would stay here again for sure.....and a ton of stuff to play with for kids, my friends 2 year old had a great time....
This little getaway was exactly what we were looking for! Plenty of room for 2 families! Spacious and cozy! The area was beautiful and the view of the lake was gorgeous! The instructions that were left for us were clear and easy to follow and made us feel welcome! We will definitely rent this place again if and when we go back! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at this wonderful house!! Brisy & Family!
Thank you very much for a wonderful time.We spent a lovely, peacefull weekend at your place. The house is warm, cozy and very welcoming, the view of the lake is phenomenal. We had great time there and looking forward to come back again.
We booked this last minute and despite some issues from Owen's end (his power was down, he lost internet access), he did everything possible to help us book this place. He also checked in on us and walked me through building a fire (there's a switch for the fan by the fireplace... who'da thunk!) and made sure we settled in fine. The house is AWESOME! It was also very well stocked and had every kind of game and entertainment you could need. It was very conveniently located, 10 mins from a 24/7 Walmart and 10 mins from Holiday Mountain (family rates on Sat!). We were upset we had such a short weekend (we stayed in most of the time because it was FREEZING), but we are looking forward to coming back in spring/summer to fully enjoy the lake! THANKS OWEN!
01/02/2010 - This Place is great for a family of any size, Cooking Area Best I have seen.Excellent for Winter vacation, Plenty to do for everyone thephotos of this listing do not do it Justice.Large open floor plan, Big windows,In back a Fire Pit. Lovely home with lots of room made this weekend getaway ideal. We unfortunately had a bit of rain so we played lots of games and watched movies...very relaxing. Took in a concert at Bethel Woods and had a great time! I would definitely book again when we will be in the area. Thanks Owen!
This home made a wonderful July vacation site for multigenerations. Smallwood was peaceful, pastoral, and friendly. The house and hearth were inviting: ample space, wonderful deck for socializing and sunning, modern kitchen for convenience. Enough space for privacy if needed. The lake provided fishing and nature wonders, swimming and lessons, and other children. Our experience was joyous.
This house fulfilled a wide variety of wishes our family of 13 had for our vacation. Biking around the lake was a highlight, but equally enjoyable was the fishing and kyaking. There was lots of room to spread out. Our oldest son was delighted to have wifi available and the children had a great time with all the toys in the basement.
My family and my sister's family stayed at the house for a week. There was plenty of room and the finished basement was the perfect place for the kids to hang out in. My dog loved the freedom to run around and even made friends with the neighbor's dog. Plenty of space and very peaceful!! The only downside was that the previous guests were not so diligent about leaving the house clean, so we ended up spending our first day at the house cleaning.
We spent the first week of January09 at this great house. The view is awesome and the whole experience was just unforgettable. You feel right at home with all the necessary amenities specially the kitchen. We are looking forrward to spend some time during the summer or perhaps spring at this wonderfull property. I recomend it 100%. Wheather you want to relax or have fun you find it all. Definitely would go back.
We loved the place--lots of charm and room. The kitchen was great--nothing was lacking. Felt very cozy during snowstorm with the fireplace going. The beds were comfortable with warm comforters provided. We enjoyed the pool table downstairs and the DVD movies. Was a great week-end getaway. We would love to visit in the summer; must be awesome. Thank you!!
Owen,The house was incredible! My husband and I spent a long weekend there with some friends and had a wonderful time. There was lots of room and lots to do to keep busy. There was a selection of dvds and videos, lots of books, magazines and board games, wireless internet, a pool table and a great kitchen to spend time together in and cook. The fireplace added ambience during the unexpected snowstorm but being housebound was actually a pleasure. The down comforters and pillows were incredibly comfortable.(a perfect touch) The opening up and closing instructions were very explicit and easy to follow. It was a great weekend spent with friends in a great house!!
Excellent accommodations for any size family with any age children! It snowed 8 inches while we were there and the picture windows from every direction let us enjoy the flakes while we stayed cozy by the fire. With woods, lake and seclusion, this was truly a magnificent way to take a vacation without traveling too far. It felt like we were in northern Maine, and it is only two hours from our home in Connecticut. A must go for anyone wanting to enjoy quality time with their family! Thank you to owners!
The house by far is a hidden treasure. The pictures on the site are nothing compared to what the actual house looks like inside . The house is secluded from others giving you privacy, and peace. It also has a finished basement with entertainment, which by far kept us busy. The owner was great to work with, and kept in contact whenever we needed to speak to him. It was a great stay overall. Thanks Owen!
This house is without question a great value. Spent a long (3-day) weekend in mid-November and was fortunate to enjoy fairly mild, snow-free weather. There was plenty of room for the four of us, rooms were clean, good selection of board games, movies, etc., plus billiard table downstairs. Very comfortable place to relax in. We cooked our meals in the full kitchen which was just as good and familiar as being in your own home; would love to visit this place sometime between mid-spring and early fall to take advantage of the outdoor grill on the wrap-around porch surrounded by all those trees.Visited the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (a definite highlight; do not miss it) and enjoyed some good pizza at Benji & Jake's in nearby White Lake. Thanks again, Owen. This place was exactly what we were looking for and a lot more.
Wonderful location, lots of entertainment. Perfect for families with kids and dogs. We loved every second of our stay in October. The lake is just across the road. The play room downstairs has entertainment for every age group plus additional beds. Communication with owner was VERY helpful and pleasant. Would definitely like to come back some time.
Lovely property with lots of room. It was a great place to get away from it all. My husband, myself and 3 older relatives came together to visit family and friends. We enjoyed the home away from home instead of being stuck in a motel/hotel. The kitchen was exceptional, as was the hot water and water pressure, something we did not expect. Would stay there again for sure.Marilyn
What a find! We came up from the city with our golden retireiver for 5 nights in Septemeber and even with a little rain, it was perfect. House was so well equipped, especially the kitchen. The owner, Owen gave us great insight into the area as well, so dinner out was also a find.
We had a great weekend getaway in this awesome lake house! Everything you could hope for and more in the house - fire pit, computer, DVDs, and a well-appointed kitchen! The lake is so peaceful and beautiful! Owen is very accommodating and helpful! You can't go wrong with this one. I am counting the days until I can return...
This is a great house ! Very well equipted kitchen and lots of entertainment in- and outside. Nice private yard and large deck. We had a great time !The communication with the owner was also very good and friendly. We´ll come back !thanks a lot Owen !
We rented this great house for the entire month of August to beat the heat of the city- It was a terrific escape that suited our needs very well. Two families with a young toddler each shared this house and had room to spare. It's an ideal family rental with a large finished basement for children to run around in, a fire pit for roasting smores, and a large porch for bbque dinners- The lake amenities were perfect for us- our kids loved the life guarded beach area with swing sets and toys for public use. There were lots of families with other kids to play with. The non-motor boat lake was great for rowing and kayaking- My favorite part of the day was my morning walk around the lake in which I picked my daily wildflower bouquet- so scenic and right across the street from the house!!This particular region in the Catskills is also undergoing a newfound resurgence due to the Bethel Woods Arts center- a must see on your stop!! The farmers market on Sundays in the fall is wonderful, there are a bunch of new good restaurants to try (Benji & Jakes Pizza!!!), Fiddler's Flea market is also new and notable and don't forget to take a road trip to Callicoon - to check out local potters!Great house- highly recommended
We totally enjoyed our stay. We rented the house for a month, but could have stayed longer. Very relaxing and comfortable. While my wife and friends enjoyed kayaking, hiking and swimming, I was hobbled by a knee injury and spent the time just kicking back on the great deck. We hope to return soon.Thanks.
My brothers and I had a great stay at your place. We enjoyed the firepit and just relaxing around the house and deck. Great place to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. Thanks again.
My friends and I had a fantastic stay. The property is right off the road but feels very secluded. The lake is literally yards off the driveway and the dock is just a short walk away. Almost everythign you may need is here. Fire pit, pool table, nice kitchen with modern appliances, great water pressure, plenty of hot water, boardgames, covered outdoor eating area, deck, etc etc. We never felt like there was nothing to do and there were plenty of opportunities to relax and just do nothing. And the owner is great to deal with. Thanks!
This was a perfect meeting place for a family get-together. The pictures on the website do not do the house justice; it is a beautiful house with all the comforts of home. Although there are cottages all around the small lake, all are set back in the woods so you feel that you are alone. Just bring a bunch of food, and you're all set for a purely relaxing experience!
An uplifting experience – in every sense of the wordMy uncle has a house in the Catskills to which my family planned to go to celebrate Passover- when we arrived at the house we discovered that due to a mixup there were people there!!! Can you imagine an entire family, in the middle of the Catskill forest, on Passover eve, homeless???... I'm sure you can't- then a MIRACLE happened – we opened VRBO and found this house. We called- the owner couldn't be nicer and totally understood our situation. He arranged for us to get the key on the spot and helped us with all our needs on a very short notice. This was already a Passover miracle for us, but then we arrived at the house and what a pleasant surprise. Being from New York we thought that if the owner was so nice, and if we managed to get the house on a holiday, there must be a catch... well, did I say a miracle? The house was beautiful, in a peaceful wooded area, it just had the right “feel” to it. Everything was clean and inviting – we celebrated the “Seder” and truly felt blessed.Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
The house was outstanding. The owner of the house was very accomodating to our needs even though the rental was on a very short notice. The house was well furnished with plenty of space. Fire place was beautiful and the high ceiling was a plus. Basement had more than enough entertainment to keep us occupied for the whole weekend. It was a shame that my group only had a weekend spend at the house. Will most definitely visit again. Thank you Owen!
We rented the house only for weekend, but I wish we could stay much longer. The house is big, clean, there's a pool table, fireplace. The mood of this place and surrounding area is great. Thanks Owen
For starters the house is beauitful.. The area is breathtaking in the snow, fireplace, pooltable, dartboard all great things included in the house which were great!! I will definately be returning to the house!! Thanks Owen Chris Freeport, Long Island
Smallwood is a great get away for a couple or small group. My fiancee and I had a wonderful weekend their, the lake was frozen and it was snowing. The fireplace kept us warm and the kitchen was great for preparing large meals.I recommend this place to anyone A++++.There is also a pool table(awesome).
This was a great experience. The house exceeded our (already high) expectations. The vicinity is peaceful and magical. Not even a minute of our stay there was wasted or boring. Contact with the owner was very friendly, pleasant and professional. We will visit again.Thank you!
