We are one of the most frequently rented properties for under $150 per night on the entire island. We have also earned "Super Host" status on Airbnb with many positive reviews there.
You will not find any vacation rental closer to the Ocean than this one! Sea Spray cottage was just updated on the inside in the summer of 2016 and a new and expanded exterior deck in 2018. It is an air conditioned vacation rental with direct waterfront located on the calm and beautiful Caribbean side of the island in Alice Town / Hatchet Bay Eleuthera. It has long been a very popular “locals only” secret on the island and part of a larger 2 acre water front property called Seven Gables. There has never been any advertising on the Internet, only local word of mouth on the island. The location is perfect situated half way between Gregory Town and Rainbow Bay which are both less than a 5 minute drive.
We have a discounted kayak rentals of $30 per day or just $115 per week as an option with your rental. You can walk to the "Da Spot" and "Seaside Club" which are local bars. Da Spot in particular is one of the islands favorite hangouts with an eclectic mix of locals and tourists. Not a high end nightclub, but an open air hangout that can get pretty lively and also has some great home made island food. You can also walk to "Front Porch" and "Twin Brothers" which are some of the best restaurants in all of Eleuthera specializing in Seafood, steaks and frozen drinks. All have positive Trip Advisor reviews. There is some great snorkeling right in front of the property and off the point you can see off the deck. There are two local beaches just a few steps away, along with incredible beaches like Rainbow Bay Beach, Surfer’s Beach and Gaulding Cay Beach just a short car ride away. There some lesser known, yet no less beautiful beaches, less than one mile away that no one goes to so you have them all to yourself. You can also fish right from the property and catch your own dinner most nights.
It is a studio style bungalow with a full bed that sleeps 2 people and an optional floor mattress for a 3rd person. We normally rent to 2 people only, but have gotten many request for a 3rd person. Warning it is a tight fit with not much room for the 3rd person with the floor mattress if you choose that route. The inside has a bright and airy decor, lots of windows and truly amazing views. Listening to the ocean each night as you fall asleep along with the gentle trade winds provides for some real peace and tranquility. You have a little kitchen area with newer mini fridge and freezer, microwave, hot plate, kitchen sink and freshly painted cabinets along with the basics for cooking and eating. As we said earlier there is air conditioning along with a ceiling fan and Cable TV and WiFi on the grounds. Cell phones work in the cottage and have good internet with data roaming turned on to check emails and such, but note there is NOT Wi-Fi inside the cottage itself. There is a small table with two chairs both inside and outside. Eating breakfast every morning sitting on top of the ocean with a personal view of the Caribbean Sea is pretty awesome. Sea Spray cottage sits on roughly two acres of landscaped grounds with some other similar type cottages, but do not worry about privacy as Sea Spray sits out on the peninsula and the deck is totally private once you get up to the cottage. Rarely are the other cottages occupied and 90% of the time you have the entire 2 acres to yourself. It is romantic, tropical and overall a neat place to hang out. You get to see both sunrises and sunsets from this hidden gem on Eleuthera.
It is owned and operated by a local Bahamian family that lives right in town so when staying at this cute little rental the money goes right back into the local community directly which is great for the island. The family hand painted much of the art hanging on the walls and they take pride in their rental. They are also an excellent resource for information from a local perspective and have many kayaks for rent. They can do island tours as well when time permits with their schedules and are there to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The price is excellent for what you get compared to other options like a hotel room in this dollar range that is not on the water and no kitchen.
If you are expecting a 5 star high end experience with daily maid service, massages and valet parking this is not for you. The Cove Resort or French Leave Resort would be more your style, but be expected to pay for that! This is an affordable, cute, clean and casual laid back type waterfront cottage and it comes with the world class views. Many people say Sea Spray is the best kept rental secret in Eleuthera!
Property is exactly as described - small (intimate) cottage located within driving distance of everything on the island. Several really wonderful local restaurants and a few nice beaches within 10 or 15 minutes drive and others quite a bit further. Nicole was wonderful as a host who lives in another house on the property. Enjoyed our stay a lot!
Beautiful view, island is breathtaking!
Everything here was wonderful. We came for a week long getaway and loved the friendliness of the people in Eleuthera, the water and endless secluded beaches, and the experiences we shared here. The cottage is small but neat and with amazing views of the Carribbean. I doubt they can be best anywhere on the island. The sounds of the water and views of the stars at night were amazing. We watched the sunrise from the deck every morning and loved it. The kitchen is small with only a sink and a two burner hot plate, but for two crafty people we made it work. Ate seafood we harvested ourselves and cooked 90% of our meals this week. The carribean off the cliffs beside the cottage isn't exactly easy to access. It's a tough walk down rocks to get there, not for the faint of heart or barefoot. The nearby beach is easy to access but we were hoping to easily snorkel the rocks beneath the cottage and had trouble. Only real problem was that no where in our trip planner or correspondence with our hosts did we learn that the water on Eleuthera isn't potable. I drank probably a few gallons of it before my girlfriend convinced me that the slightly brown color probably wasn't good. I walked to Cecil's to ask and he indeed confirmed no one drinks the water but buys it instead. This would've been good to know upfront. Even this isn't a major complaint, since no one got sick. The hosts were great though and we loved out experience!
My wife and I were stunned by the beautiful vista we were blessed by after stepping on to the deck behind the house! The family that cares for the property are the best! I highly recommend this little bit of paradise
Fantastic property. Nicole and Cecil were very accommodating. Cottage was clean, quiet and relaxing. Loved Hatchet Bay and the entire island. Beach after beach and amazing people.
Property very well described. Not big but clean and quaint. Nice little kitchenette for coffee and eggs in the morning. Perfect size for my wife and I for a short stay. Amazing view from deck that overlooks the Caribbean. I recommend printing the guide the host sends with you, it has alot of information about the island. Hatchet bay was a great location with a rental car. No wifi in the cottage but could find some on location and nearby businesses. We used the cooler and beach chairs provided daily. Mattress was firm for sure. All in all a great property which highlighted our fantastic vacation.
My husband and I had an awesome experience staying at Sea Spray cottage! The view was amazing and everything was just as described. The stars at night and the crystal clear water were incredible from the deck! Cecil was there to answer any questions we had and to address any issues. Eleuthera itself is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been! So many natural wonders all in one place! And the shells!!! Our only complaint is that we ran out of time before we could see everything! Can’t wait to come back!
Unfortunately we only had two days to enjoy this place but we enjoyed it a lot. Communication and organisation in preparation of our trip was perfect and thanks to Marielbys' information material we managed to book a very nice daytrip to the pigs, too. The cottage is small but provides you with the essential equipment (there is a fridge, coffee machine, toaster, hotplate). It's very clean and tidy and a cozy place to stay for 2. Listening to the waves in the evenings let us fall asleep immediately. The deck is a great place to watch sunrise or enjoy a Kalik (bahamian beer) during sunset.
Good location but not as private as the pictures implied. VERY small. The bed was too small and too hard for both of us so we brought an air mattress, thank God. Also would have liked a change of sheets and towels half way through. But the sunrises and sunsets from that wonderful deck made up for the missing parts. A good location to start from to see north and south Eleuthera. Definitely have the prime rib at the Rainbow Inn on Tuesday, which is only five minutes drive south.
The Sea Spray cottage was exactly what we needed for a relaxing time on our vacation and celebrating our anniversary. The proximity to the water provided unobstructed views of the beautiful blue waters, as well as views of both sunrises and sunsets. We saw many other places from resorts to homes, and wouldn't trade places with any of them. None other could provide the total experience we had. We were most pleased with the extras provided -- chaise longues as well as a table and chair on the deck, beach chairs, and a cooler to enhance our enjoyment, plus motion-detector outside lighting to guide us when returning after dark from a daily adventure. We were contacted to make sure our needs were met (they were) and knew we could contact someone if necessary. Especially helpful was the trip planner provided to us to prepare for our stay. It was complete and full of tips and ideas of what to do and where to go. A recent reviewer commented that the little village is a bit rundown, While true, it was no different than any other village or settlement in the Bahamas. Dunmore Town on Harbour Island, with its high-end resorts, also has areas which are a bit rundown. This is typical of much of the Caribbean and part of the experience. But the greater experience is looking past those conditions, meeting and talking to the people. Everyone we met, whether locals or tourists, was genuinely friendly and helpful, which contributed to a feeling of happiness and comfort. We never felt uncomfortable or apprehensive at any place or at any time, day or night. We miss it already.
The first few days were windy. It was really loud, almost deafening. There is no shade at all except inside. The little village is a bit run down and walking alone was not entirely comfortable for me. The beach is very near and is exceptional. Beautiful, clean and very quiet. The owner stopped by for a moment, othwise there was No one around. A bit isolated for me.
Great view from the deck!
Well where to start. We checked in on Sunday December 1 The first thing I seen was the flowers and bushes hiding the cottage from view. I'm thinking this is nice even though you pass two other houses to get to the deck. When you get to the deck you see the ocean but when you get to the front corner and make a right to enter boom two huge condos and seawalls. Wow very disappointed. With the view. This also means you have to go through 30 yards of Bush and vegetation to get to the water once again disappointed. The cottage is as explained well ventilated plenty of windows. Every thing is as pictured only issues was the breaker for the bathroom would trip every now and then. Other then needing updated photos and yard work it was a good . I wont say it was a bad stay just a little up dating on Homeaway would be nice. Thanks for everything. Bruce
Everything was great. Very clean small house, not for more than two people which was nice for me. Nice breeze all the time and it was nice being able to sit out side and just listen to the waves of the ocean. Only bad thing was the very loud bar and it's music across the water on Fri. and Sat. night. Area was safe and walking in the small town was good. Twin Brothers restaurant was a great place to eat. The whole island does not mark roads etc., but it is not hard to get use to when driving. I would stay again!!
I came to Hatchet Bay solely for the purpose of stay in Sea Spray Cottage. The description of the cottage while booking is absolutely accurate. It was nice and clean and had all the amenities listed. The views from the deck are stunning. The deck is large enough for loungers so one can relax and listen to the ocean right below. Very much enjoyed my three nights at Sea Spray.
Overall a wonderful stay, cute, little cabin overlooking the water. It is tiny, but was perfect for us. Wish there had been an outside shower and maybe some shade on the deck. Loved being able to walk to a great beach and to a couple of restaurants. Only complaint, the locals like to party on Fri and Sat nite til 2am, very loud music that shook the house. But, it is their home, only wish we had known ahead of time. Overall a lovely vacation.
The view is surreal. The place is small but perfect. I would definitely be back.
We had a wonderful time on the island of Eleuthera. There are amazing beaches everywhere you look. The glass window bridge, preachers cave, the queens bath, and lighthouse beach were must sees. We enjoyed the view from Sea Spray Cottage, Nicole and Cecil were wonderful hosts, especially after the recent weather the island had experienced. The cottage really does have a million dollar view, just keep in mind it is very small.
The weather even cooperated a few days during the hurricane season
Cottage was clean and as described. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The only downside was A/C struggled to keep cottage below 80 degrees during the day but was comfortable evenings and mornings which was the only time we were there anyway. Overall it is a great place to stay while exploring the beautiful beaches on the island!
My husband and I stayed here 3 days and loved the view! The cottage was just right for us two! Cecil was there when we needed snorkeling gear and we didn’t have to wait at all! Nicole made sure we had chairs and an umbrella for the beaches as well! It was a great stay!
My daughter and I gifted each other plane tickets to the Bahamas for our birthdays, and we couldn't have been more impressed with our magical find. The view was spectacular and the neighborhood was extremely welcoming. We had a spectacular time and hope to visit again.
Let me start of by stating, one of a kind experience This truly was such an amazing location. Peaceful, private and beautiful everything one could ask for. The view was like no other, the breeze was such a calm and the ambience was just so right. Everything was as describes not to mention the additional information given to us by the staff which really helped. A great escape from realty and this cottage more than filled the void. Truly truly amazing. You have to see it for yourselves. Pictures don't do it justice. Thank you again.
My husband & I rented this house in July & absolutely loved it! The house is small, as is stated in the description, but it is perfect for a couple & the location is spectacular! We saw sea turtles, several eagle rays, a stingray, a couple of smaller sharks & all sorts of tropical fish from barracuda to blue tang sitting on the back deck in the evenings. Going to sleep to the waves crashing against the cliffs below was definitely some of the best sleep I have ever gotten! The description is very accurate & the trip planner that is provided with the rental is very helpful. We used the car rental person that was recommended in the planner & he was great! The caretakers of the property were very helpful & friendly as well. We loved the house being in a true Bahamian town. The locals were all very nice & very willing to offer help if it was needed. I will say to do your due diligence on Eleuthera before you come & be ready for an adventure, but we loved every minute of this trip. I was looking for adventure in a relatively safe place for our first trip out of the country & I definitely found it here. This place felt like a second home to me. I just can't say enough good about it & I can not wait to go back. We saw so much in 8 days, but there is a ton left to see. We will definitely be back soon!
Sea Spray is a perfect location to relax in Eleuthera after exploring all the amazing beaches. My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here. The view was breathtaking and watching the wildlife below was amazing. The trip guide was so useful and Chris, the car rental suggestion, was spot on. The locals were so friendly and the food was amazing. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime. Sea Spray had everything two people could need. The cooler was great for days on the beach. We were there for 7 days and went to a different beach everyday. Thanks for having us! We loved our time at our little cottage with the huge view.
What a wonderful place to stay. Hearing waves crash as you go to sleep at night and waking up to the sound of waves. What an experience! Coffee on the deck each morning as you see eagle rays swim by. The house is small but it was big enough for the 2 of us. We cooked breakfast in the morning and fish, that we caught, in the evening. There is enough cooking supplies. The beach is a very short walk, we had it all to ourselves. We did make our way to the Rainbow Inn 3 nights while we were there, they have great mixed drinks made by the friendliest bartender. We had dinner 2 nights at Daddy Joes. Crab cakes and the burger were outstanding. Billy and Brenda’s BBQ, only served on Friday and Saturday, is a must! Da Spot and DePerk coffee was great too! Also, Monica’s in Gregory Town is a must. You must try the pineapple tarts, delicious! Such a beautiful island with lovely locals. Can not wait to make it back!!
Hubby & I visited Eleuthera for a week in May 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sea Spray Cottage! In short, it was exactly what we wanted for our vacation. The cottage is adorable, a short drive from the heart of Hatchet Bay, & convenient to other areas of the island. It’s a perfect size for 2 people. The views are amazing & the location is very private. We even saw shooting stars! Sea Spray is an apt name since we saw sea spray in the air when the waves kicked up! The pictures show how lovely the cottage is - but they can’t show how happy you’ll be when you are there! I wish we were there now. More thoughts: The mini refrigerator/freezer, TV, microwave, coffee pot, & AC worked well. The breeze from the water was often cool enough at night without AC. We didn’t cook meals at the cottage, but had everything we needed to heat leftovers. The deck was wonderful and we enjoyed relaxing in the evenings to the sounds of the ocean. The grounds around the cottage are lovely & the wifi worked there. Snorkeling around the cottage was terrific - we spent days exploring above & below water (many barracuda near the point across from the cottage). Hubby loved fishing & flying his drone from the deck & nearby areas. There's a bright light on the cottage 15-20 feet away from the Sea Spray that shines directly in the window over the bed & a sleep mask was helpful. The bed felt like it had a spring-coil mattress. The hot water switch is on the wall near the sink (we accidentally shut it off). Linens for the week: 1 sheet set, 4 towels, 4 washcloths. The climb from the cottage to the water is a bit rough. The newly built houses along the beach may have eliminated a pre-existing path. There were many rusty nails & screws near the houses’ security wall, where we got in the water, so water shoes are a good idea. We rented an SUV for our stay (recommended), which allowed us to explore and eat whenever & where ever we wanted from the centrally-located cottage. Hatchet Bay and southern Eleuthera are delightful, with so much to see & friendly people to meet. I want to send a special Thank You to Nicola for all her help during our stay and to Marielbys who helped before our trip and shared a terrific guide to the area! We'll definitely stay in the Sea Spray should we return to Eleuthera & we highly recommend it! Supplies we found helpful: shamp/cond, bodywash, bathroom handsoap, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, citronella candle, portable drying line
Had a very nice time at Sea Spray cottage. Central location on island for day trip to Harbor Island, Gregory Town, Governors Harbor. Quiet place with great ocean breeze. Porch overlooks rocks and is great for coffee in the am. Beach a short walk, Front Porch restaurant nearby. Everyone is very friendly on the island.
Unique little house on a unique cliff location. Very happy with our stay. Thank you.
This was the perfect place to unplug and unwind. Truly magnificent views and the star watching at night was spectacular. You must go to hidden beach we had the beach to ourselves. The only thing I would change as far as the cottage is to upgrade the linen. Otherwise I definitely would recommend and come back
I am a bit sad that I was not able to use the cottage. Maybe sometime soon in the future. I have told several people about the place and they are all very interested. Robin Vinson
Could not have found a more beautiful, serene, secluded dream vacation cottage!
We found Sea Spray Cottage browsing rentals in the Bahamas. At the time, we had never heard of Eleuthera and had to look it up. We were immediately drawn to the simplicity of the island and the promise of pristine, private beaches. Sea Spray Cottage met all our expectations and our stay in Eleuthera was magical. The property description was very detailed and accurate, so there were no surprises or disappointments when we arrived. In fact, when I noticed that beach chairs were not included, I contacted the owners asking if it would be possible to get some before our trip and we were thrilled to find two brand new portable beach chairs and two lounge chairs on the deck when we arrived! I'm sure this added convenience will make future renters even happier with their stay. There just aren't words to describe how beautiful this island is, and staying at this cottage put all that beauty right our your front door (literally). We spend most of our time away during the day exploring the beaches. We used the Beach Book which helped us tremendously in finding our way to beaches we could have never found without it. (best beaches we found were Lighthouse, Gaulding Cay, Sandpiper, and Surfers) The caretakers were friendly and helpful, as were all the locals we encountered. A rental car is a must if you want to enjoy the island. We had some problems with the car company recommended in the trip planner, and I would not recommend them, but were able to get another car from Coco's in Gov. Harbor at the last minute and they were wonderful! The best pina coladas EVER are at Twin Brothers just down the road. We went multiple times and got them to go to enjoy on our deck at the cottage. From our deck we saw a spotted eagle ray, a HUGE stingray, and a 6-foot shark. We haven't been able to stop talking about Eleuthera since we got back! Unfortunately, we probably will not return to Sea Spray, NOT because of any negative experience. We just want to bring our entire family with us next time, so we will need to find something bigger. But for the two of us, this was absolutely perfect. We never want to vacation anywhere else again! Finally, all you've heard about noseeums on the Island is true. We made the mistake of eating at Leo Rose outdoors after sunset, and we had hundreds of bites the next day! If you don't go outside after sunset, you will be fine. Can't wait to return to Eleuthera!
This place was perfect for our getaway. Nobody bothers you and the view is spectacular. Loved watching the fish swim by. Can’t wait to go back
Wonderful and beautiful relaxing hideaway. If you cannot relieve stress here, seek professional help. Nice, quiet, secure, with easy access, and friendly owners.
We loved our stay at the sea spray cottage ! The owners are so friendly and helpful , and the views are absolutely spectacular! We cannot wait to return someday !
My Husband and I had the honor of celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary at the sea side cottage on the beautiful island of Eleuthera for a total of 6 nights at the end of March. Getting there was quite a cluster, not any fault of ours but rather the private airline we booked our flights from Nassau to Eleuthera with. I will next time use Pineapple Air and Ill fly into Governors Harbor as its closer to the property than North Eleuthera Airport. While planning our stay I was unable to get ahold of a rental car company that was listed in the trip planner instead I used my google skills and found “Rainbow Car Rental”. Laura and her Husband William were angels! After our plane with “Le Air” and “Southern Air” took us to the wrong island (YES wrong island) and we were stuck on Nassau for the night, Laura with Rainbow Rental grabbed all our luggage from the plane we were supposed to be on when it arrived at North Eleuthera Airport and held it for us until we arrived the following day. She also coordinated with Nicole, one of the owners and made her aware of our debacle. Laura also picked us up the following day from the airport and even dropped us off early in the morning the day of departure. I also found her rates to be the best I had quoted, and the Jeep Liberty was perfect for the rocky back roads we explored during our stay. Everything about the cottage was perfect for the two of us! It is important to know that we are not “5-star resort” people, we vacation to experience the different cultures and relax in the local atmosphere. This is a beautiful property, just breath-taking views every hour of the day and night. Definitely better than any “5-star” resort views I’ve ever experienced. The house served its purpose well for us during our stay. We kept the windows open the entire time allowing the ocean breeze to flow in and had the sounds of the ocean crashing onto the cliffs below. Everything was neat and tidy upon arrival, and we had everything we needed for just us two. We especially enjoyed the private beach just to the left of the cottage. We snorkeled everyday there and were able to see barracudas and tons of fish. Some of the other guests staying close by were spear fishing and able to eat every night off what they were able to catch that day. Make sure to try and eat at the local restaurants during your stay. We had breakfast and lunch in the cottage but ate out every evening. It was nice to not have to clean up as the kitchen is r
Heavenly vacation. Very private and quiet. Plenty of hot water and lived up to our expectations.
The cottage captures the spirit of Eleuthera! We absolutely loved listening to the lapping waves while falling asleep and sipping coffee on the deck while taking-in all the incredible sunrises. The small kitchen was nice for making breakfast each day and a few other meals. The location is convenient as we found a liquor store and market nearby, as well as several restaurants. We never had any issues with bugs and the Wifi worked great near the parking spot. Breathtaking views, nice breezes, and fond memories! Thank you for the lovely stay!
When we first arrived we were worried that the cottage may be too small for our almost 2 week stay. Once we got settled in we absolutely loved our little place! It had everything we needed, and the location and ocean views were amazing. We spent the mornings on the deck drinking our coffee and watching all the sea life. We spent most days exploring the island and all the beaches. In the evenings we sat on the deck with our cocktails for sunsets and enjoyed the breeze. We were able to see sting rays, manta rays, lots of fish, and even a small shark right from the deck! The cottage is very secluded and private. We requested additional lounge chairs and Nicole brought them to us the next day. Cecil and Nicole were both very friendly and helpful, responded quickly when we emailed them and checked in with us to make sure things were going well. We purchased some groceries to take for lunches at the beach, and even cooked dinner in the cottage a couple of nights. Kitchen supplies are limited but everything we needed was available. We really enjoyed our time at Sea Spray and felt safe and very welcomed by everyone in Eleuthera. We would highly recommend Sea Spray!
we had a very nice, quiet 6days in this cottage,it is small but you are told that up front.Very nice for two people I wouldn't put the third in the cottage very snug you better like them! The deck was are favorite place to eat, drink,be merry! just the right spot.a lot of water life visted us every afternoon stingray, colorful fish,we were in the water everyday snorkeling, visited the caves, lighthouse, beaches, alot to do,great food, nice people .Cecil came by once to check on us,very nice man,we had him come to help us with tv it was our fault we messed up the remotes. If you want quiet, layed back vacation this is the place to be .we rented a jeep it is a must if you are adventurous and want to see everything you can while there we will rent again
The view from the deck was picturesque! Sunsets amazing!!. Really enjoyed watching the sealife from deck. A family of 8-10 spotted eagle ray hung out in the cove for several days. Even saw a 8-10ft shark a few times!! Snorkeled the cliffs right below cottage and saw lion fish, small reef shark, as well as an array of tropical fish. The cottage was cozy. We enjoyed everything about our stay with the exception of one thing, the bed....Woke every morning stiff as a board. Even joked when leaving that we we're pretty sure we could see bruises on our ribs due to how hard the bed was. But no worries, everything else about the place made the stay well worth it!
We came to Eleuthera for our honeymoon and the Sea Spray Cottage was perfect for the occasion! It is small and quaint, but was just enough room for the both of us. The cottage has everything two people would need. The ocean views can’t be beat. We got to enjoy the beach that is just a minute walk away. It’s a five minute walk to town where we met the friendliest natives. My husband and I look forward to visiting again. Thank you guys for everything! -Madison & Anatoliy
Tiny Beach Cottage but everything was there for a wonderful stay. It is appropriately named Sea Spray Cottage as there was always trade winds with the waves lapping along the rocks and an awesome view. It is centrally located on the Island with beautiful beaches in both directions. Grocery Stores and Gas Stations are few and far between and restaurants even further between. We went during the off season so quite a few places closed. Great place for a quiet, relaxing vacation.
My husband and I stayed for a week at Sea Spray and we really injoy our “ tiny home with tons of personality “.Amazing views ,refreshing breeze , quiet place well taking care of is all you need for adventurous vacation in Eleuthera . We definitely will come back and recommend this place ! Thank you Nicole !
My wife and I's stay here was awesome! The house is pretty small, but just what two people need! The view is stunning and the constant sea breeze never got old! We never even used the AC, just opened the windows and let the fresh air in and the sounds of the ocean! Wifi was nonexistent, but cable TV was a plus, even though it was lacking a few channels. Overall our stay at the Sea Spray Cottage was awesome, would thoroughly recommend it!
I loved my stay in this quaint Bahamian cottage perched on the edge of paradise in a local village with friendly people. It feels remote and isolated when you're sitting on the deck gazing out to sea but is an easy walk to the town beach for a swim, to the store for basic supplies and to Da Spot for an ice cold beer/snack or Twin Brothers for a full meal...although don't miss the mac and cheese at Da Spot! The cottage is cute/clean, the location is amazing! Make sure to take a headlamp or flash light since the path is dark if you are returning after sunset. Enjoy!
Small property, but definitely has all you need. We are English, used to small places, and after all, what do you need to have a chilled holiday? We have rented places all over the world of all sorts of sizes, but both agreed this is the best we have ever stayed in, mainly because of it's location. The deck is the best place to spend an evening on the whole island, and the locals were so friendly.
A small, simple, rustic place, perfect for one or two - this is not club med (thankfully) so do not expect granite and stainless. Located almost on top of the turquoise waters of Eleuthera, it is truly an amazing spot. A short walk to local beaches and some decent snorkeling right below as well. The sound of the ocean day and night and the constant breeze (when i was there) was just perfect. You do need a car to tour all the island has to offer and to pick up supplies etc. Highly recommended.
What a wonderful tiny cottage with a million dollar view on the the waterfront deck. Perfect for a couple. Did I mention the views? Everything was perfect and it has everything you need.
The cottage worked out well for the two of us. Great proximity to restaurants and beaches. The property could use some maintenance and could be better equipped with essentials.
Cottage was what we were looking for in privacy and low key. Hatchet Bay was a quiet little town and the people were great.
My husband and I spent two nights at Sea Spray. Cecil was great to communicate with...always wrote back into hours! The cottage is exactly as described. It is very small, very little room to cook or store items but we expected that! We found the bed to be very comfortable and air conditioning helped on the day since it was in the 80s! The deck is wonderful for morning coffee and afternoon cocktail before dinner...sunrise and sunset as described! Unfortunately, there are two huge houses being built next door with tall walls surrounding them right to the edge of the water....affects the charm of the town in my opinion. We enjoyed dinner at Front Porch one night (2 minute ride or perhaps could have walked but very dark and lots of potholes in road) and Rainbow Inn the second (10 minute drive)...remember to make reservations! You really can't get in without them! I wish there would have been two beach chairs to borrow to bring to beach, a small shelf in bathroom to hold toiletries. We brought our own shampoo, soap and hair conditioner. Wifi was non-existent even outside of property but that wasn't huge for us...we went to Front Porch restaurant since they had given us their password and used theirs so we could figure out our directions to our morning adventure! Good value and interesting property!
This place was very accurately described with very nice and accommodating owners and worth the money. Besides some dust on top the picture frames (hotel management experience makes us notice) this place was very clean. Cable tv was nice, as an end of the day comfort, but would not count on WiFi anywhere on the property. We were able to get a strong signal in the driveway but couldn’t get anything to load. Nicole and Cecil were both very attentive to this situation but we were never able to use the internet. We also didn’t have a problem accesssing any other WiFi connections on the island. As a matter of fact “twin brothers restaurant and bar” has a great connection and is highly recommended for food, drink, and friendly staff. (In hatchet bay, 2 min drive from sea spray) also recommended is Ryan neiley, which is sea spray’s recommended excursion guide for seeing pigs (what we did) or fishing. We went with his son, as Ryan was booked for a fishing expedition, and he showed us a great time for an affordable price. In short, my wife and I got married at a 14,000$ a week house located in governors harbor and chose to return to Eleuthera because we felt we didn’t get to explore enough of this expansive island. Needless to say from $14,000 to $700ish cottage there was a big difference but besides the WiFi we were not disappointed with the accommodations. We seldom visit the same island twice, because there is so much we still have yet to see in the Caribbean but Eleuthera is worth coming back too, there are just so many hidden gems. Many thanks to Cecil and Nicole for sharing this gem and we recommend anyone looking for a basic place with incredible views and loads of charm to check out sea spray.
This cottage was absolutely amazing! It was in a great location, close to Twin Brothers (BEST DAIQUIRIS), The Front Porch and The Rainbow Inn Restaurants. It was also right in the middle of the island, what I mean by this is, you could choose to go North or South for the day and it would be a fantastic day trip, which is actually what we did. As I said this view is just so hard to beat, every morning and every night was just perfect to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner, have coffee/beverages and have a sea breeze and breathtaking view right outside your front door. The small kitchen had a small fridge, sink, and a little table inside with 2 chairs, with the full size bed as well as the bathroom to the left with a shower. Cecil and Nicole were also so very nice and helpful when needed, as far as the wifi we ended up having to borrow Nicole's due to recent outage of the cottage wifi, which they contacted their service immediately to have it fixed asap. I do recommend taking bug spray on your vacation, with all of the beautiful plants on the property it is only natural for there to be some bugs (which is actually everywhere you go, and its much worse at night). This property was just so fantastic, thank you so much for allowing us to stay for our first trip to the Bahamas, it was the best time, and we will definitely be back! :)
Low key, friendly owners, great view, and central location.
A friend and i stayed at sea spray in April and we were highly satisfied and cannot wait to return. The cottage has gorgeous views of the ocean. We spent every morning on the patio enjoying the ocean and our morning coffee and breakfast. The cottage was clean and comfortable and was the perfect size for the 2 of us. The WIFI was not accessible In the cottage but you could get a signal on the grounds not far from the cottage which was fine because we wanted to spend as much time outside as possible. Check in and out was simple and the host was more than happy to answer our questions. The host provides a huge document with tons of information about the island which was very useful and helped us plan our trip. This was way better than staying in a resort. The settlement of hatchet bay is small and all of the locals in the area were very inviting, helpful, and nice. The location of the cottage is wonderful. It Is only a half hour drive from north Eleuthera airport and there are lots of great sites to see close to the cottage. It was too windy to try snorkeling by the cottage but we did see some beautiful sunrises from the patio. There is also a wonderful organic farm just 5 minutes south of the cottage where loved to get fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies as well as all of our produce for the week. The kitchenette was perfect to cook up a quick breakfast and coffee before a full day of adventures. I would highly recommend sea spray. We honestly can't wait to book our next trip back.
The cottage was pretty much what we expected, clean but small cooking in the cottage is very challenging. The view was great. The deck is not in great shape boards sticking up nails sticking up you did have to be careful of where you stepped. The owner Nicole is very nice! We would rent this cottage again.
Quaint, spectacular view, cozy little cottage. Enjoyed the local atmosphere and walking to town to eat and enjoy the beach. We usually stay in Governors Harbour but enjoyed Hatchet Bay as well.
The place with Sweet and quaint. Who had the most amazing view of the bay Excellence snorkeling. Would recommend this place to anyone that wants to get away from it all just to relax. Only thing that we would have liked to have more of would have been towels and a little bit more dishes to cook and eat there. We felt very safe and the people were super friendly.
Our stay at the Sea Spray Cottage was wonderful!! The view is absolutely the best part with the beautiful water so close to the deck. The cottage is quaint and small but provides everything you need...a bed, kitchen including a microwave, fridge, and coffeepot, and a bathroom. We used Chris Darling for our car rental. He was the best! He met us at the airport with the car and literally drove us to the cottage. Otherwise, I know we would have gotten lost even with the great instructions. I think the instructions should include the entrance name to the cottage area ... the Seven Seas Cottage. The cottage is difficult to see from the entrance so we weren't sure we were in the right place. The car is necessary to discover all the incredibly beautiful beaches on the island. We ate at the Front Porch - huge thumbs up! Great seafood for our anniversary dinner and the couple who ran the place was very friendly and helpful. We also loved the Rainbow Inn for great food. Note: The High Rockin Band is a four-piece band that plays reggae on the island. Look for them - they are fantastic! Get out and meet the local people. They are the nicest people you will meet. Other than that, we truly enjoyed our stay and felt this was a huge find! Thank you for the great tips on restaurants, snorkeling, car rental, and owners. It was all a great experience.
The property is exactly as pictured on VBRO. Nicole and Cecile were friendly and helpful. Relative to other rental options on Eleuthera, this is affordable and good value for your money. If you are visiting Eleuthera, I strongly recommend both Sea Spray Cottage and a rental car. Enjoy.
Thanks guys! Marielbys and Tommie and Nicole were excellent with communication and accuracy of details. They gave us excellent directions and recommendations for places to shop and eat etc. They hooked us up with a guy named Chris for a car rental. He met us at the airport with the car and actually led us to the front door of the rental and then we dropped it off at the airport when leaving. Nicole arranged for us to access the cottage a bit early to coincide with our flight schedule. We really appreciate it. The actual cottage has breathtaking views and good for sunrises and sunsets. The grounds are also very beautiful with coconut palms and all kinds of birds including hummingbirds. Very peaceful. The little kitchen area is perfect for having small meals in between restaurants etc. Also, great location to see a lot of the Island. Definitely recommend and will look them up next time we go over. Thanks again. Abe and Julia
Quaint, clean, friendly little spot perfect for 1 or 2. Right on the ocean, beautiful view, and really friendly hosts and neighbors. We are DIY fly fishing people and were out early and back late. It had the basic necessities and met our needs perfectly! Tommy and Marielby's were excellent communicators and great hosts. We had a flat tire one morning and the neighbor helped us fix it! Found all the tools we needed. Many thanks. We had a great trip and highly recommend this rental. It's advertised accurately.
We had such a relaxing and peaceful getaway, can't get any closer to the ocean. Friendly and accessible host who gave us great local tips. Pictures are accurate and up to date. Looking forward to going back.
All was very lovely at Sea Spray Cottage. Nicole, Jenny and Cecil, the owners, were so nice. The weather was a bit cold during my stay, but you can't beat the views from the deck. They were beautiful and dramatic. Thank you for all your kind help over the past months in preparing for this trip. It was most valuable. I will return in warmer weather months!
Very beautiful house with a good sea view , and very clean ,we really like and enjoyed it . landlord is very nice , so I think this is a very good choice for couples. Thank you
We had an excellent time in our few days here and plan on coming back. Owners are very attentive and made sure we were comfortable.
Our stay in the Sea Spray cottage was great! From the moment we've made our reservation, Marielbys and Cecil were so responsive and nice. They also put us in contact with some car rental, kayak rental options, which was very helpful. Early check-in was not a problem and the cottage was the same as in the pictures. Very cute, small place with an amazing view for a really good price! We liked the location as well. However, you would need a car in this island to explore all the beautiful beaches. The location of the sea spray cottages is more like a residential area and we had the chance to interact with many Bahamian people with great hospitality. Overall, we really enjoyed our vacation and would definitely recommend this place! We will come back again !:)
Cozy and clean cottage right on the face of a small cliff overlooking azure waters inviting you to take a cool dip and view wonderful wildlife. My wife and I had a great week long visit and enjoyed our time at Sea Spray in Hatchet Bay. It's a great central location on the island to beach hop from North to South and the value cannot be understated compared to higher priced rental homes. Cecil and Nicole were wonderful and attentive hosts. I would recommend Sea Spray to couples and we will definitely stay there again. Cheers!
Nicole and Cecil made us feel welcome immediately. They greeted us on arrival, earlier than check-in time, and allowed us to go straight to the cottage. The space is represented accurately in the photos and description. It is small but cute and so bright and airy. The view is incredible. You can climb down some rocks to the beach which is great for snorkeling or you can walk a few minutes to the local town beach. We were provided with a full list of other amenities and recommendations on the island. We went to most that were mentioned and were not disappointed! Cecil and Nicole also let us check out at our convenience and without hesitation. This was really helpful as our flight wasn't until later that day. I would highly recommend Sea Spray Cottage. It is the perfect romantic get away - in fact, so perfect that my boyfriend and I got engaged! Thank you for a wonderful stay Marieblys, Cecil and Nicole!
Pros: Low Price, Deck and It's Views, Good Water Pressure in Shower, Bed was Comfortable Cons: Value, No pleasant greeting from anyone, No brochures/map in property on arrival, Paint on building is sloppy (lots of different colors, probably not primed), water pressure non-existent in kitchenette and very low to toilet, Wifi didn't work (until you walk out to McCardy Drive) which is not good if you want to Skype while drinking your coffee, door handle is a little loose, Salt/pepper/coffee filters/dish soap were not provided (not mandatory/but cheap and nice for places to provide these as they can be used by the next guest), air conditioner was very loud and both was probably found at a garage sale or junkyard, mini-refrigerator had to be held closed with chair when barely full, bathroom is very small / outdated and if you were a large person (say 250 pounds) you may have some difficultly navigating it. We made the most of the few days we were here - really did enjoy the deck, but we relocated to a much better villa early, despite pre-paying for this shack on the water. If I owned this place, I would put no more than $2000 in upgrades and raise rental costs about $10-20 a day to more than make up for the cost. It has a lot of potential. At a minimum, all it needs is fresh paint, fixed plumbing, new AC unit and mini-fridge, and Wifi.
This cottage is perfect if you're looking to focus only on the beautiful waves and water around you. A great family environment all around. There's also a great bar restaurant within walking distance into Hatchet bay.
This is Maria Munoz and I rented the Sea Spray Cottage in August 2016 before the new renovation. For me it was a pleasure to say YES when I was asked to write a great review about my fun days in Eleuthera. We loved the cottage on the inside and the outside grounds were lovely. I want to say a big thank you to Cecil and Nicole that own the property. Their family was so nice and helpful and attentive to our needs daily. I highly recommend anyone to stay at Sea Spray!
I stayed here last month and had a nice time. The cottage was in a great spot on a sea front peninsula overlooking the town. Before arriving I could not quite grasp the idea of a sunrise and sunset from the same property, but it is true, as the location has water on 3 sides. I saw more sunsets than sunrises but both were nice. It was a short walk to the grocery store, local bars and some restaurants. We opted to roll without a rental car and that was a mistake because to explore the island you really need some transportation. The kitchen was small but did the job, the place was clean and had AC that cooled well. Beaches were good most days depending on the winds. Overall quite happy with the little cottage.
Marielbys here is the quick review you requested for my visit to the Sea Spray Cottage. To sum it up simply - my stay was awesome!! The cottage was quiet and had great views of the ocean. I loved falling asleep to the waves at night. It was very nice to be able to walk to places int own also. My overall experience was excellent and the McCardy family, Cecil and Nicole, were so nice! Lisa L.
We are long time renters at the Sea Spray rental, before it was listed here. Marielbys asked us to write a review and we were happy to do it so here goes ya. Not much in life is guaranteed, but what is guaranteed every time is a fun time at this place. It's always a pleasure to stay there with just the right mix of coastal casual digs and a relaxing Bahamian atmosphere mixed with amazing views all around. If I were an author ( I am not ) the deck would be where I would write my masterpiece with a glass of vino in hand. It is so wonderful seeing the ever changing shades of the ocean, smelling the jerk chicken mixed with the sea air and hearing some local music in the distance. My hubby and I love walking the local streets into town at sunset and making small talk with the locals. Friendly and safe and that is saying something these days. We always miss leaving and look forward to coming back. A precious little piece of paradise.
I had a great time staying at the cottage. It is true there are fish right off the deck and not all small ones, occasionally you see some big cuda or jacks. Also true you sit atop the ocean waters out on the point with nice trade winds and sweeping views. Fun to stroll down to the Da Spot for some beers and such. The local beach across the little cove does not look like much but the sand goes way out and there is a little bar right next to it. Cool area and very cool rental.
We stayed at Sea Spray rental last Thanksgiving. I was a second honeymoon of sorts for my husband and I. We are on a tight budget and were limited on where we could stay. Sea Spray did not disappoint in terms of value for dollars spent and the enjoyment we had staying there. It is small, but fine for 2 people. We did not cook a big Thanksgiving dinner in that there is a small studio style kitchen, but went out for dinners most night. The kitchen was fine for breakfast and lunches and keeping some beverages cold. It is rustic and has character and terrific views abound. The local beach was fun and we saw some of the same people a few times and made some vacation friends. Front Porch had a great food and views. We had a car, recommended, and we did a lot of exploring. Hatchet Bay, confusing but also called Alice Town is located in a good spot close to a large array of things to do. We had the whole 2 acres to ourselves as there were no other rentals at that time. For what the price is and what you get it is excellent and recommended.
