Caswell Beach, North Carolina
The cozy, raised cottage, is well appointed with updated furnishings. Enjoy a 360 degree wraparound deck/covered porch with great views of the Oak Island Lighthouse, the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, town of Southport, and the Cape Fear River. The deck and porch are completely enclosed making it a great place for your 4 legged family member to safely hang out.
If you have a “little” family member, a booster seat is provided for your convenience. The cottage is just across the street from a beach access walkway, so only a minute’s walk is required to get on the sand. Paradise Found is the 7th house past the Oak Island Lighthouse, and with no public parking allowed on this end of the island, only residents and their guests have access to the beach.
After a day on the beach, you can relax on the deck and then prepare dinner in the full kitchen or on the gas grill. A teak dining table and chairs for outdoor dining are located on the covered porch. At any time, feel free to grab a cold drink, sit in one of the comfortable chairs and watch the lights come on across the waterway in Southport.
Oak Island offers two fishing piers, two public marinas, three boat/canoe ramps, bike paths, and canoe trails. Several grocery stores, multiple seafood markets, cafes, bars and restaurants are also on the island and within a few minutes’ drive. Oak Island Golf Club is less than two miles down Caswell Beach Road.
Across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, you’ll find the town of Southport. Southport is a charming southern coastal community with beautiful live oaks, a waterfront park, historic homes, a public arts center, excellent restaurants, galleries, and shops. You can also take a ferry ride to Bald Head Island for the day or an auto ferry to Fort Fisher Aquarium. Downtown historic Wilmington is a short drive from the aquarium.
The views from the back deck are spectacular. We enjoyed having our meals outside while watching all the different birds in the marsh and boats on the inter coastal. Very short walk to the beach.
Paradise Found is a perfect getaway spot, especially when it's just the 2 of you and your fur babies. We expected a tiny house, but was pleasantly surprised by it spaciousness. The quiet location on the island is perfect. I hope we are able to come here again! ❤️ Thanks Jan!
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The house and its location exceeded all of our expectations. It felt like home!!! We enjoyed the back deck views of the marsh and waterways. Beach access was very convenient. The water was so warm and it felt like our own private beach. Sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking on the beach. We also enjoyed the excitement of turtle hatching season—we learned so much! Food in the area was amazing. We liked exploring Southport!
Oak Island is one of our favorite places and “Paradise Found” on Caswell Beach was the perfect location to relax and enjoy beach life with the Intercostal on one side and beach access across the street! We were so sorry to see that it had recently gone up for sale. Having traveled on our sailboat from the Chesapeake Bay to the islands many times on the ICW, the location of your place was the perfect location to revisit many memories from the past. Watching the fishing boats and ships coming in from sea to travel the Cape Fear River or watching the trawlers and sailboats heading south on the ICW made it perfect. Having the Coast Guard station eight houses away, testing their equipment at 0700 hours each morning, authenticated the adventure. We know your place will sell quickly, but we were so glad we had the opportunity to enjoy it.
We love this location. Tidal marsh full of birds and changing landscape out back and an easy walk to ocean beach across the street.
What a wonderful vacation we had here at Paradise found!! The house exceeded our expectations. The marsh view, the exposed beams, and the open floor plan was all perfect. It was exactly the space our family needed. The bedrooms are a large size as well as the bathroom. The washer/dryer is super convenient for families with kids. Everything was VERY clean and fresh. The beach access is steps away and this part of Caswell is very quiet and private. Nothing but positive things to say about this house. We already want to come back! Fingers crossed we get to stay here next summer!!
Quiet, secluded and peaceful location. Back porch has a beautiful view of the marsh. Walk across street and your on the beach! Just what we were looking for to relax, renew and refresh!!! Jan is accommodating and very sweet!!
While the beach was easily accessed and very clean we especially loved the marsh view and spent hours on the back deck. The birds, ships and coast guard gave us lots of entertainment options.
This was the second time we've stayed here and we hope to come back in the future. It's a great location and place, particularly if you have a dog.
I took pics but can’t find a way to post them. The inside of the house was fine except for the black mold all over the shower door on the inside and outside. The outside however is terrible. The outside is falling apart. The roof had a tarp on it, rust everywhere around the facia board, yard and landscape were okay. The house sits among a lot of nice homes. We felt safe but felt that we were slumming it. I wish someone had been honest about this before we rented it. The plus was it had a great marsh view, no ocean view but access was across the street and very easy. It seemed that the owners are patching things waiting to either sell or tear it down to rebuild a nice one ( hope). The area around it was great; most people are tearing down the dumpy house and building nice new ones. We never did figure out the cable/tv so we watched everything on our IPads. We would never stay at this house again. We loved Southport and Bald Head. The other plus was the fencing and gate on the deck so our Yorkie could not get out. Spend the extra and get a nicer place.
