The views from this custom designed cottage are some of the nicest you will find. We are situated just high enough to provide protection from the ocean, but close enough to hear the waves and surf at all times of the day. Being so close to the water, the feeling in the cottage is a lot like being on a large boat. THERE IS NO ROAD and NO POWER LINES between OUR COTTAGE AND THE OPEN OCEAN. You have an unrestricted and very private view of the open Atlantic and surrounding islands and harbors from our deck. This is hard to find, even in Maine. Nobody walking or driving on a road between you and the sea? Priceless! We also allow most breeds of dogs for a modest fee, but PLEASE CONFIRM BEFORE BOOKING that your dogs age and breed are allowed. That the minimum age of any child is 10. The cottage features two queen sized beds, one on each floor, with access to a bathroom on each floor as well. Boothbay Harbor, with all it's charm, galleries, shopping and restuarants, is less than 10 minutes away. Our cottage is situated on a little known oceanfront drive. This area is one of the best kept secrets around and offers views and ocean walks as nice as you will find, but with far fewer people. Imagine yourself on our deck with a sliver of moonlight coming across the Atlantic and right to you!

It wasn't exactly as I remembered it from 4 years ago ... it was even better!! Some places that you go back to after a few years away look tired and worn out. Atlantic Dreams looked refreshed and more breathtaking than before. I haven't felt so relaxed in a long long time. Thanks ... as always!
The property is cozy but has everything a couple needs. Easy to find, very quiet, spectacular views. Very comfortable. We plan to return when we can!
This house is perfect- fabulous location, tastefully decorated, high end kitchen gear, cozy and comfy. Check in was simple and the place delivered everything promised!
The house is wonderful, right on the ocean with fantastic views. The house is secluded and quiet. The instructions by the owner were easy to follow, the same applies to the house electronics. As a small suggestion, the internet speed could be enhanced.
Absolutely beautiful sunrises, stunning views overall, and a clean and well-provisioned home. We stayed for a week in December, and are already talking about what it would be like to stay there in warmer months.
Super comfortable, filled with light, beautifully decorated with lots of care, all amenities, view to die for - sunrise, moonrise, water forever. You'll never want to leave.
I really hate giving this property such a good review as it will be booked up when we want to travel again. And yep....as I look my dates for next year are unavailable. Ugh. The really good rentals you want to keep to yourself... Love the fall in Maine. And this location is ideal. Spent numerous hours just starting out onto the water. Did a couple of day driving adventures, but spent most of our time at the house or walking in the are. Once you are there you will understand. Very well equipped kitchen. Every utensil you could want at your fingertips. Loved the cookware as well. Plenty of books around. Fireplace was a great focal point. TV works, but didn't feel the need to use. We have to come back. Well worth the five plus hour drive. Thank you for having us!
Very cozy cottage right on the ocean. The deck right over the water is an amazing spot to relax and enjoy the view! Floor to ceiling windows provide an inside view of the scenery from the living room/dining area. The cottage was very private and well equipped. Communication with the owner was outstanding....immediate responses to any questions we had. We would highly recommend the property!
We really enjoyed our stay in the the Booth Bay area. The cabin was beautiful and very well appointed, directly on the water. With lots to do within a short drive. The first week of October was the perfect time to catch the fall colors in all their glory! Would highly recommend this property.
A great experience. Scott was responsive to my questions. A small suggestion, leave a complimentary gallon of drinking water for the next guest. The water is fine to drink, but it has a slight taste, making springwater more desirable.
A terrific place to relax and recharge your batteries. The view from the balcony is fantastic.
My husband and I stayed at this amazing little cottage in January 2020. We walked in and knew we would not want to leave this place for the entire week! We did, only to go for daily walks along the ocean and to eat! The good thing is there’s nothing to really do in Boothbay at this time of year, so its a good excuse to enjoy this comfy, but up-to -date cottage and it’s absolutely amazing view of the Atlantic! We were blessed...the first evening we enjoyed a snowy night, with the wind howling, as we were cozily reading our books in front of the beautiful stone gas fireplace. It was a fun experience. The remainder of the time, we woke to bright sun streaming in thru the wall of windows that face the ocean till well after noon. We were blessed with sunny days all week! One morning we actually sat outside reading from 8:45am-1:30pm. There was no wind and the sun was so warm, despite the 28* temperature! We truly wanted to stay another week. I made breakfast every morning and we ate lunch in too. Everything you could need is available in the modern and very clean kitchen. Granite counter tops and great gas stove. Theres also a small washer and dryer, I always love that. There were a few areas the cleaning lady could have cleaned a bit better... behind the two chairs next to the fireplace there were dust balls and under the couch...there was a dogs bone from previous renters. Other than that, I was very happy with the cleanliness. I’m quite picky too and my husband is in the cleaning business. The bedroom upstairs gets quite warm during the day...heat truly does rise! However, it’s the one we chose, because with the skylight open we could hear the waves at night and once we turned the heat down to 60* @ night we were fine. The views from upstairs are beautiful as well! Thank you Scott for sharing your home. We definitely want to come back!
I'm a positive person in general so I'll assume everything would have been great. But actually we didn't go. My wife suffered a serious medical setback and was in the ICU. The whole trip was set up by her and I wasn't able to get into her email until around the day of the trip. I contacted Scott and he was very gracious about the whole situation. We hope to make the trip after she recovers.
Easy rental process.
Always a pleasure to return to Scott and Lorraine's ocean front cottage.
So enjoyed your cottage and the beautiful location and view. The little nearby town was lovely with fun folks and great food! Would definitely recommend this property!!!!!
My husband and I just got back from vacationing at this property and it definitely deserves five stars. The cottage itself is adorable and has all the amenities needed for a wonderful vacation. Check-in was a breeze and the Owner was very responsive to any questions we had. We have been to BBH several times and are in love with the town, but most of this vacation was spent at the cottage overlooking the water. Lobster boats were everywhere and the crashing waves were breathtaking. Great time, great cottage!
We have traveled many places and have to say that we absolutely love Maine and this spot was perfect! I just happened to see the house on Home Away a year ago and booked it and I am SO glad I did!!! The house was cute and clean and the view from the deck was simply breathtaking! We hated leaving every day to go sightseeing- and actually looked forward to getting back to the house to sit out on the deck and listen to the roaring waves! My only regret is that we didn’t book the house for 2 weeks 😂Thanks Scott and Loraine!!
Scott and Loraine have thought of everything! The home is Beautifully detailed and comfortable. We had the privacy we hoped for and a view even greater than we expected! The location made it ideal for visits to Boothbay and day trips to many other locations. To bring a little reminder of Maine home with us, we even ordered a whale rug just like theirs!
Pictures don’t do this property justice! The view is one of the most spectacular I’ve ever seen and the house is decorated like something out of House Beautiful. We loved sitting on the deck watching the Lobster and Sailboats and it was difficult to leave the house to sightsee!
We rented this house for the second time and were not disappointed! It is perfect for a small family and has a beautiful location on the rocks of King Philips trail. We rarely left the house as the views were so beautiful!
This was the first visit to the Boothbay area for my husband and I. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations. This peaceful and relaxing cottage is tastefully decorated with an amazing view.
Loved everything about it, the location, the cottage, I had a small issue the 1st day, Scott went above and beyond and showed up withing 24 hours and took care of it. Enjoyed the conversation with him and enjoyed my family's visit and new memories were made celebrating birthdays!
Everything about Atlantic Dreams was perfect.
Sharon Coates 4:02 PM (2 minutes ago) to supportreply Property and location were great. Views were spectacular; probably the best we've seen in the years that we have come to BBH. The home was very clean, tastefully decorated (including the dishes) with quality furnishings, and well equipped. Our son drove up for a day or two, caught the view, a sunrise, and fell in love with the coast. The only two things we could comment upon are that for slightly larger seniors with a bit of arthritis, toilet space was tight and both were rather small and low. The newer comfort height ones, and an air conditioner on the first floor for those hot/humid days would make the stay all the more awesome.
What a lovely cottage and so beautifully decorated. We have rented various homes over the years and we can honestly say this one has everything you need to make it feel like home, from the linens to the kitchen ware. It was so nice to find lovely dishes, glassware, and clean barely used pots and pans. The beds were very comfortable and we particularly enjoyed the cozy furniture in the sitting area. The views were spectacular and even though the weather was a bit on the chilly side we did enjoy a few days where we could use the deck. The fireplace is an added bonus by the way. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage and we would definitely book another stay. So if you are looking for a relaxing quite getaway this is the place for you.
The quintessential Maine seaside cottage! My daughter and I spent a fully relaxing and re-energizing week at Scott & Lorraine’s lovely cottage. The sunrises were spectacular. Time seemed to slow down in sharp contrast to the fast paced lives most of us now lead. The cottage is in an ideal location for local outings as well as day trips to the surrounding areas. Acadia National park is about a 2 hr drive and offers hiking of all levels.
This was the most amazing cottage right on the ocean! From the moment we arrived, to the moment we (sadly) left, we enjoyed spectacular views, and the sound of waves crashing literally below the deck on the cottage overlooking the ocean. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and enjoy wonderful meals before cozying up by the fireplace. The cottage is decorated beautifully, and the beds were so comfy we didn't miss a single moment's sleep. The downstairs bathroom heater was not in working order during our stay, which made getting out of the shower (it's the only bathroom that has one) and mid-night trips a bit on the chilly side, but other than that minor issue, this was a perfect stay. We look forward to a return trip to East Boothbay and this beautiful slice of heaven on earth that is the Atlantic Dreams.
We are seasoned VRBO travelers so can say hand on heart this is an excellent vacation cottage. Our first time in Maine, I don't think we could have chosen better accommodation or location. The cottage was clean and furnishings tasteful and comfortable. It was a little chilly during our stay but the heating really kept the cottage cozy. All instructions with regards to appliances, garbage pickup, TV controls etc are clear and everything is in great working order. The pièce de résistance is of course the view as mentioned may times by other reviewers. It is beyond compare. There is a lovely walk around the local neighborhood taking you by the coastline and through a wooded area with lovely views. Very peaceful and the few people we did encounter were most friendly. The town of Boothbay Harbor was really just opening up but we did eat several times at the wonderful Thistle Tavern which was supurb (also recommended by Scott). We visited nearby towns, notably Rockland for the Farnsworth Museum (Archers on the Pier great location for lunch) and Camden. Portland is lovely to stroll around and Freeport is great for a rainy day. The botanical gardens in Boothbay are also worth a visit also but perhaps more so in the summer/fall seasons. Overall the highlight was our stay at the Oceanfront Cottage, and waking up to the incredible view, that really made our time in Maine special. Thank you!
Beautiful little cottage nestled right on the seacoast. A quiet complement to the chaos that can be everyday life......
Overall a great getaway. Maine is beautiful in the winter. The cottage was well appointed and comfortable. Scott was great to work with as well. Highly reccomend.
The views are phenomenal and the house is beautiful. The cottage is nicely equipped and very comfortable even in the middle of winter. The owners are very responsive to any questions or arrangements needed. Would definitely go back for another vacation.
A wonderful waterfront home - great view. Quiet, private and peaceful. November is a great time to come. Owners were very responsive.
This cottage is even better than the pictures. From sunrise to sunset the views are spectacular! The location is close to activity but private and quiet once you are home. The most relaxing vacation I've ever had. The only negative part was leaving. But the hope is.....to return! AS Mass.
The only downside of our week at this lovely cottage was leaving. The setting is magnificent - set on cliffs right above the ocean. Sitting outside on the lovely deck each morning and watching the lobster boats haul their traps was a spectacular start to each day. The cottage is comfortable and very cozy. Everything we could have wanted was provided. We loved being close to lots of restaurants and sights, but coming back to the cottage felt like coming home. Don't miss the Maine Botanical Gardens and Pemaquid Lighthouse - but our quiet hours in the sweet cottage and its beautiful views were really the highlight of our week.
We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing vacation by the sea. The house is comfortable, well appointed and the view from the deck is beyond compare. It's on a lovely winding road perfect for evening walks and a short stroll takes you to a spot where you can walk on the rocks, explore tide pools and gather shells. This home earned high marks in all of our must have categories: comfortable beds, well appointed kitchen, cozy living area and of course, the sound of waves crashing just outside the windows!
From the very first moment that we stepped into the cottage it was heavenly! The cottage has a charm all of it's own, a cozy, modern rustic feel. This was by far the best place that we have ever rented, we did not want to leave! It was so welcoming, the views from every window were amazing. The sounds of the surf were so soothing, I brought some books to read thinking I'd have plenty of time to read them but found myself getting lost in the hypnotic sounds, the sea breeze instead! It was by far the most relaxing getaway. We took walks down the road and met some very nice neighbors and one day some of the local artists working on their master pieces. We had a few days with some fog, but there was even beauty in the fog, being photographers we took full advantage of these great photographic opportunities. Thank you Scott and Loraine for sharing your wonderful cottage
A fantastic location with amazing views. The cottage was clean, well equipped, and had wonderful décor/design. My wife and I stayed for a week to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and this location was a perfect getaway. I would love to return in the summer and sit out on that deck all day.
We recently stayed in Scott and Loraine’s fabulous cottage, and there are simply not enough superlative words to describe our week. The views from the house, whether from the porch or windows are amazing … the ocean swirls unobstructed below, loons dive underwater, gulls and raptors swoop by, even Mallard ducks come to visit the yard. Lobster boats check their traps in the mornings, and you never know – one of those could be your dinner that night! Though there were many sunny days, we had the genuine fun of a Nor’easter while we were there, with requisite wind and choppy surf. It was pure fun to watch from behind the sliding glass doors, fireplace glowing, and glasses of wine in hand. The bedrooms were comfortable, offering plenty of privacy for three adults, and like the rest of the cottage, the décor was beachy, bright, and tasteful. Scott’s artwork is amazing! The kitchen was well appointed, everything we needed to cook excellent meals. There are spices, oils, etc. so you only need to buy main ingredients for your shopping needs, which is easy to do with the Hannaford a few miles down the road. There is plenty to do in the nearby towns for shopping, touring, hiking, or dining – or not to do if you prefer to curl up with one of the many books, movies, or puzzles available to you in the cottage. We are already planning for a return trip in the future at this perfect gem of a cottage!
The cottage is absolutely lovely in winter. You can get a general feel from the other reviews, so I thought I would add here what it is like to stay there in March. During a blizzard. When we arrived, it was windy and the temperature was in the single digits. The Rinnai kept the cottage warm and cozy that day and through the next ten. We stocked up at the grocery 15 minutes away and settled in. The storm arrived a couple of days later - our phones suggested that the wind gusts were in excess of 40 mph and the snow fell everywhere from a light dusting to a horizontal whiteout. It was stunningly beautiful to watch and a perfect day to curl up with a good book. The driveway was plowed by the time we woke the next morning and we shoveled the small porch and steps. We poked around the nearby towns which were pleasantly occupied (not the ghost towns you find in some resort areas in winter), yet certainly not crowded either. The most enticing attraction though was the view out the window. Our goal for the vacation was to slow down and relax in our own little retreat. The cottage was perfect. The furniture invites sitting, the kitchen was fairly well stocked, and we watched a movie or two. Delightful!
Just got back from an amazing time in Boothbay. We stay at this cottage each winter for a week or two; it's our favorite time of year to come. There are plenty of shops and restaurants open but far fewer people than the summer. The other reviews will attest to this beautiful cottage and magnificent views but there is so.uch to do here even in winter. We visited the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens festival of lights for the first time..it was beautiful! If you are looking for the perfect Maine vacation this is it..book a week here if you can find an opening!
We spent the final 2 weeks of October at this charming Boothbay Harbor cottage. The leaves were still gorgeous and the ocean views from the cottage were breathtaking. The cottage decor is perfect and has all the comforts of home. There is so much to see & do in the area. Although some restaurants close around Columbus Day there are still many wonderful ones to choose from.
We spent two weeks in this lovely house on the water, watching the lobster boats and the local wildlife...we even saw an otter on the rocks below.....and enjoyed every bit of it. The house is immaculate and has everything you would need to prepare meals, cook up the lobsters, and relax in front of the fireplace. We did tear ourselves away to look at some of the sites in this region but the majority of our time was spent in the house and on the deck. Drive down Rt 96 and look at the spectacular views down at Ocean Point....not to be missed! The local brewery, The Watershed restaurant, was a wonderful experience....great food...and six craft beer flights to boot! If you are wondering where to get a fish tile like the one in the mantle, you can find that and other gorgeous tiles at the Tile Connection, about 15 mins away. We bought quite a few art tiles there. The whole area is lovely to look at ...we took drives around both peninsulas while we were there and enjoyed the distinct beauty of this part of Maine. Loved it! The leaves were already turning brilliant colors so we were treated to that on our way out last week. All in all, a perfect vacation ! Look no further, you've found the place for next year! (if you can beat the competition for reservations)
Our family stayed here in July of 2016. This cottage must have one of the finest views I have seen on the coast of Maine. Period. We had a list of tons of things to do and see in the area but I must confess that with the splendid weather we had we never ventured far from this amazing spot. Highlights were Harbor Cruise in Boothbay..kayaking out to White Island to see the seal pups..and great meals at the Thistle Inn not to mention local lobsters from the docks that we cooked at the cottage! I hesitate to even review this cottage as it is already so hard to get a week but the owners have really created a p effect vacation spot here!
STOP! Don't ya move a 'goldarned' inch, as the old Maine story goes from Marshall Dodge. This is the place you have been looking for. My wife walked through on our arrival and out onto the deck and said, This is just as it was described. I certainly agreed and breathed a huge sigh of relief. This was the 1st week of a 3 in Maine for our 50th wedding anniversary. The second 2 weeks to be in the Belgrade Lakes at another of Scott's properties. The cottage has been expertly renovated and decorated by Scott for your stay. The amenities are as described. The kitchen will accomodate all your culinary needs. We chose the loft bedroom for it's view and coziness. If it gets foggy, you will not care!
The quintessential Maine rocky coast - times 10!!!! One of the most relaxing vacations I have taken. I've been renting in Maine for years, up and down the coast, but this was my favorite by a long shot. The vistas, the waves, the sounds, the sunsets, the house - all A++. I stayed for two glorious weeks. I cannot say enough about the house, the location, and the owner. The rest of the reviews written about this place are all true. It is hard to put into words what this place was like. Even the amazing photos do not capture the sophisticated decor and the truly amazing location. Thank you Scott!
My husband I were hoping to find a nice place to stay for our annual summer getaway. I never dreamed we would ever stay at a place so beautiful, so peaceful, so amazing as Atlantic Dreams! It was absolutely perfect--when we wanted to go into town (to shop or to go on a cruise or to eat out or...), it was a piece of cake to get there and back--quick, too. But we did a lot of just hanging out, playing board games, reading, and listening to the water. I cannot say enough about the deck! Leaning back in an Adirondack chair, watching sailboats pass by, lobstermen raise and lower their traps each day, birds, waves--perfect. Just watching the tide come in and out was fascinating to me. The kitchen is great, had everything we needed. Parking is a cinch. Scott was a dream to work with, too. Answered every question we had, sometimes almost immediately! If you are looking for an ultra-relaxing, absolutely beautiful place to enjoy your vacation, Atlantic Dreams is it!
Atlantic Dreams is a wonderful place to stay! My husband and I stayed there for two weeks at the end of April and beginning of May, to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. We could not have found a more excellent vacation cottage. It is right on the ocean, with nothing to block the spectacular view in any way. With all the windows, it is light and bright, and watching the sunrise each morning is amazing. It is the quintessential ocean cottage, and it is designed and decorated just as the perfect ocean cottage should be. Everything that is needed for a great stay is there, but the setting and views are a prime feature. As another person said, it was hard to tear yourself away from the views, even to read the great books we had brought. We watched lobster boats going in and out, we listened to the waves, and saw many sea birds. We even saw ships in the distance. The cottage has DVDs to watch, as well as CDs and a great CD player. There are many books to read, if you forgot to bring your own. Though the cottage is on a wonderful quiet wooded road, it is easy to get to everywhere you might want to go. However, we could always look forward to returning to our beautiful cottage at the end of each day. Scott was wonderful to work with, and he answered every question or concern. He made recommendations for places to eat and visit, and was easy to reach by phone or email. Our stay was everything we wanted it to be, and even more. We can’t wait to return.
Atlantic Dreams is indeed truly special. Every positive comment by previous renters is absolutely true but I'll still add my 2 cents worth. First, it's about location, location, location. One of the reasons we rented this cottage was to have an unblocked view of the ocean and the rocky coast of Maine....Got that big time. We sat out on the deck every possible moment and although I brought plenty to read, I found myself spending much of the time simply gazing out at the ocean that was RIGHT THERE! Second, but not really second, the cottage itself was like something straight out of a Down East magazine. Whoever decorated the place got it absolutely right on, beautifully and comfortably decorated but not detracting from the awesome view outside. We both enjoyed our stay there so much that we've booked another 2 weeks at a future date.
Beautiful property with gorgeous view. Property was described accurately and was very clean upon arrival. We had a great time and would recommend this property to others.
There is little to add to what has already been said. It's simply breathtaking. Beautiful sunrises - the house is flooded with sunlight in the morning. Sitting there watching the boats come and go. The sound of the birds and the waves. The occasional harbor seal sighting. We even recorded 2 minutes of audio on our phones to take us back when needed! It's a great cottage in a wonderful location. We loved walking down the road and climbing on the rocks. We will return in 2015!
This was simply the best cottage we have rented with amazing views and sounds of the ocean lapping even with the windows closed. The house is bright, airy, super clean and beautifully decorated. The fireplace was perfect for chilly evenings and the kitchen was well equipped. The owners are lovely and very responsive to questions. We cannot wait to go back and sit on the deck!! Pure Bliss!!
This charming cottage, situated on a winding forested road is perched overlooking a broad expanse of ocean. From the deck you can take advantage of wonderful sunrises and a spectacular view you won't tire of. A well maintained place that is exactly as advertised, it was a pleasure to stay there and would be somewhere I would enjoy returning to in the future. Be sure to try the great muffins and pizza in the local general store.
No photo can convey the scope of the view from this cottage. My wife and I were here during a cold week in early March, and the freezing temperatures could not keep us off the deck in order to absorb the sights and sounds of this gorgeous location. The cottage was perfect for an ocean getaway with comfy furniture and expansive windows. Scott made the rental process easy, and he remained in continuous contact to make sure all our needs were met. We cannot recommend this cottage too highly.
This place is wonderful, we rented from the UK so were a little apprehensive...absolutely no need, Scott was wonderful to deal with, and even emailed us when he was on his holiday to see if always ok! The house is beautiful..even th elovely photos do not fully capture it, the owners have thought of everything, we wanted for nothing. It is immaculate and very tasteful and top notch on comfort. Next to the location....waking up to the most amazing view everyday.. The light is so beautiful, we had a white Christmas and was wonderful to go walks in area. Lovely general store just down the road. Cannot recommend this place highly enough...we hope to visit again! :-)
This cottage is just beautiful. I was looking for a cottage with fantastic views and a great kitchen, and luckily we got more than we bargained for. The cottage is clean, wonderfully designed and maintained, and the owners are a pleasure to deal with. The location is perfect if you want to get some exercise and some great photos. We are hoping we can manage to go back again!
My husband and I rented this cottage for a get-away for our 10th anniversary and we couldn't have been more pleased. The setting is cozy and comfortable, private and beautiful. The view is so spectacular that we both felt like we were on a ship! The cottage is filled with conveniences (although no dishwasher) and the owners are attentive and kind. We loved the quiet and seclusion of the neighborhood that is also close to Boothbay Harbor. We were at the cottage off-season which means it can be challenging to find shops/restaurants open, but we loved the East Boothbay General Store and The Thistle Inn. We cannot wait to get the chance to return!
What a fantastic vacation retreat! The cottage is adorable, perfectly decorated, and very cozy. I came with a goal of reading a book, but couldn't take my eyes off of the water...the views are absolutely amazing....truly like a postcard! Scott was a pleasure to work with, and we can't wait to return!
My husband and I (and our dog) got back from this amazing vacation in East Boothbay (It did help that the Red Sox won the World Series, and we could watch it, with the sound off, listening to the waves). We have rented on the coast before, this is by far the best house and location! The house was immaculate and cozy, tastefully furnished, everything you need. Scott was very attentive and responsive to any question. The Boothbay Land Trusts are great for off-leash dog walks. Such a gem of a rental.
My husband and I just returned from a delightful week in this lovely cottage at the mouth of the Damariscotta River. Make sure you get there while the sun is still up. We had a bit of difficulty finding it, but we'd have been fine if we'd arrived before full dark. That doesn't matter because the views are even more extraordinary than you see in the pictures here on this site. Scott & Lorraine created an idyllic place to relax and rejuvenate. Their attention to decorating detail qualifies the cottage for one of the HGTV shows. The Rannai heaters were amazingly efficient and simple to operate. The owners promised the wonderful sounds of waves, and we had them. Those plus the soft coo of the loons and lobster boats putt-putting all served to remind us we were in the beautiful state of Maine. While you’re really out in the “boonies,” a quick drive gets you to civilization and the quaint towns of the region. Make sure you visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. What an amazing spot. We got in on one of the last days the offices and gift store were still open. I know the owners can’t take credit for this, LOL, but the leaves were beyond beautiful, and the temperatures were delightfully cool. We look forward to returning for more of those spectacular views!
Breathtaking Views clearly describes this wonderful cottage. My fiancé and I rented this gem the third week of September and had a wonderful time. The location is great; close to anything you need yet private and quiet. Nice walking area all around if you can pull yourself away from the glorious views. Mornings capture a beautiful sunrise that fills the room in a warm glow. The cabin is well appointed yet comfortable and cozy. Scott was very accommodating and helpful. This is a place that doesn't disappoint. We hope to be back very soon!
The most difficult part of staying here was talking ourselves in to leaving and not staying on the deck all day.. or walking the loop with our dog.. or visiting Carlton Plummer , artist 4 doors down. Having just visited Winslow Homer's studio at Prouts Neck and being a docent at our local art museum- trust me- the view at Atlantic Dreams was better. The house was beautiful and Scot's attention to detail made it perfect. By this: I mean coffee filters, spices and totally immaculate.
The perfect getaway. The perfect blend of quiet time to re-charge your batteries, and play time with the many opportunities offered in the Boothbay region and nearby. But our favorite thing always came back to the cottage itself. It met all our needs, and then some. But the view. . . .how do you pull yourself away from that view! Spectacular, day or night. We happened to select the perfect week. Temps in mid to high 70's, and beautiful sunshine. At night, there were too many stars to count. And as you can imagine, the restaurant selection in the area and a bit south were wonderful. Le Garage, just across the bridge in Wiscasset is very good and reasonably priced. Also, but a bit further to the south off Route 1 is JR Maxwell's in downtown Bath (excellent steaks). While in Bath, we went on the tour of the ship building yard, Bath Iron Works. It only takes an hour, and is quite impressive.
We stayed here last year in July and loved it so much we came back again. The cottage looked the same and the views are just amazing. We took boat trips, shopped, explored lighthouses, and of course ate lobster from the dock every. We found new things to do that we didn't have time to do last year. We have already booked our return trip for next year.
There is just something about this cottage and location ... It is difficult to put into words what a wonderful ambiance has been created by the owners. It was as if they had opened their private home to us, supplying all the essentials and more. We especially enjoyed the selection of books, CDs, and the photo album that included before and after pictures of the Atlantic Dreams (previously known as Rocky Ledge). The view from the cottage is phenomonal. If you've seen the pictures online... trust them! It is exactly what it is advertised to be. This was our first experience using VRBO and we are completely satisfied. We were fortunate enough to have chosen a perfect week with perfect weather (a thunderstorm thrown in for effect which we loved) in the midst of the blooming season. If you have never been to been to Coastal Maine and want to experience it -this is the perfect place to stay! We hope to be back soon.
Our stay at this beautiful Maine cottage was fantastic! From the moment we opened the door and entered until it was time to say good bye and had to close that door behind us, our stay at Atlantic Dreams became our dream. It was Perfect. It was more than Perfect! Our group was made up of women who have been friends for over 50 years. We get together every two years or so and we have all voted this sweet little cottage on the Maine coast to be the best of the best! We only had one windy, rainy day....and even that was fabulous. We would don our rain gear every once in a while during the storm and venture out into it just to catch a glimpse of the crashing waves on the rocks below. The owners of Atlantic Dreams have lovingly created such a wonderfully serene haven of escape from our busy lives. We all felt lucky to be able to have experienced it for one moment in time. We hope that we will be able to do it again soon!
We spent a wonderful week in the most beautiful cottage.. Atlantic Dreams was truly a gorgeous location with a cozy cottage experience. The home is decorated with impeccable taste and all the amenities you could ask for. We loved the views from the cottage, the strolls around the area exploring the coastline, and the East Boothbay's general store for awesome food. Definitely will return for another week soon.
Scott and Lorraine have done an incredible job with the cottage. It is charming, comfortable and has everything you will need during your stay! The main attraction is the view and the sound of the ocean crashing against the rocks. It was sunny and gorgeous every day of our stay so we saw some beautiful sunrises. We were also lucky enough to see the moon rise during our stay. The way the moonlight lit up the river was spectacular.
We grew up in Maine and then moved away for many years but upon our return to the pine tree state we were talking about how we have never stayed at the ocean. So, we started looking and found this wonderful cottage with amazing views. Scott and Loraine have done a great job with the remodel as there are pictures showing before and after in a book at the cottage. They thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had several amazing sunrises as we enjoyed our morning coffee and the ocean was just beautiful. It was a great getaway and we had plenty of time to just relax. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to enjoy being right next to the ocean. It was wonderful and we would definitely stay there again.
My partner and I rented this house for a week in March, and we could not have been happier with it. The property itself is filled with light, cozy but not cramped, and has an unbelievable 180-degree vista over the bay. It is well-stocked with kitchen supplies (we cooked almost every day), an automatic fireplace, cable TV, and heater. The owner was wonderfully attentive and responsive; he made sure we arrived okay, gave us great recommendations for local places to visit, and even arranged and paid for a snow plow service when we were hit by a snowstorm! Speaking of the snowstorm, we were a bit hesitant to visit Maine in the winter (we were first-time Maine-vacationers from Washington, DC) because we were worried the weather would be bitterly cold. The experience was actually a pure delight. All of the nearby nature hikes were open, walkable, and gorgeous. Except for the one day the snow hit us late in our visit, the weather was lovely and not too cold (high 20's and 30's). The majority of the restaurants and shops in Boothbay Harbor were open -- and stores in nearby towns and cities like Bath were totally open -- so there were lots of things to do. We also found some fun excursions to places like the Railway Museum, the Maritime Museum, a few lighthouses, and antique store. In all, I can't recommend the experience highly enough. It converted us to Maine living, and we hope to make it back soon.
We stayed in the cottage for 9 days in November, and had a fabulous time. It is a beautiful house in a fabulous spot. We loved the deck, the views, the sunrises and sunsets. We watched the fishermen pulling up their lobster pots every morning, and a big storm (with a dusting of snow) come and go. We explored the area, and loved in particular all the beaches which were deserted at this time of year (to our toddler's and dog's delight). The cottage is very comfortable, and is absolutely as described. It has been very thoughtfully renovated. It's well-equipped, everything worked (not always the case). We could happily have stayed right through the winter!
We have stayed all over the seacoast of Maine and this home is far and above all the other rentals hands down. The view, cleanliness, amenities, comfort of furniture and beds exceeds any other of our many, many Maine rentals. We ate most of our meals right there and even had lobsters delivered right to the front door. You also can get a wealth of information by reading the very informative notes posted at Atlantic Dreams. If you like seafood, take a short ride into Booth Bay and eat at McSeagulls and enjoy their varied menu. Once again from a well traveled renter this is trully a 6 star home. The cottage was amazing!! The view was spectacular between the water, the stars, and the sun rises! The cottage was very clean, well organized, and set up very nice. There was everything we needed to cook a lobster meal (and more)! The decor was very well done and the gas fireplace added to the overall ambiance. It was a very relaxing place to be!
If you are looking for peace and solitude, yet 15 minutes from a lovely waterfront town filled with art galleries and fine dining; if you are looking for one of the quietest, loveliest roads you have ever had the pleasure of walking along; if you are looking for daytime views off your deck of lobster boats and any number of other interesting sea craft; if you are looking for being lulled to sleep by the waves hitting the shore; if you are looking for shooting stars in the darkened night ........ this is the rental for you. We couldn’t have asked for more.
We had a fabulous time at Atlantic Dreams. The pics online does not do it justice. When we walked into the cottage, the view took our breath away. The owners made sure we had everything we needed when we arrived and the cottage was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed waking up every morning to the ocean waves to sitting on the deck drinking our morning coffee and having lobsters delivered right to our door. Boothbay harbor is only a 10 minute drive with lots to do there. We went on a sunset sailing cruise, a whale watch cruise and went to cabbage island for a clambake (you need to check this out...it is awesome!). Our vacation was perfect and we will definitely be back next year and will recommend this to our friends and family.
A trip to Maine was on our bucket list. We were looking at the Bar Harbor area when we came across this cottage which fit our requirements for ocean front and view, size and price range. 4 adults shared this cottage wonderfully. The views lived up to the pictures. We watched lobster fishermen everyday from the deck. The town of Boothbay had wonderful restaurants and bars with plenty of outdoor seating and fresh seafood. The residents were very friendly and helpful. One of our goals was to eat lobster every day and we did! We bought it right off the docks and cooked it at the cottage several nights. We will definately be planning a return trip to this cottage. We have passed this cottage info on to our friends who want to visit Maine.
'Atlantic Dreams' exceeded all our expectations. What a beautiful, relaxing cottage with the most fantastic views - I'm still sitting on your deck! Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with us. See you soon as we will be back!
We rented this wonderful cottage for a week last August and cannot begin to describe how amazing both the cottage and the location are. We are fortunate to live in a very beautiful area of Wyoming, but thought we would try something different and take a vacation on the East Coast. Some friends recommended the Boothbay area, and we were very pleased with our experience! The cottage had just been finished right before we rented it, and the “new” cottage was far more than we had expected. The attention to artistic detail, with the Atlantic theme both inside and out was amazing. The interior of the cottage was bright and welcoming with fantastic views of the surrounding ocean and great views right down the coast as well. The magnificent fireplace is made local, wave-washed stone. Waves and surf sung us to sleep every night and woke us gently in the mornings. We loved the large, well appointed kitchen where we cooked the fresh lobsters we bought in town. We spent hours just sitting on the deck, watching the ocean’s changing moods. The best parts were all the sailboats that came right past the house, and the lobstermen hauling in their pots so close below the deck that we could hear them talking to each other. We could hardly tear ourselves from the deck each day to enjoy the many activities in the area. We discovered exciting hiking trails in numerous conservation reserves. One trailhead is an easy walk from the cottage door. Both Boothbay and East Boothbay offer wonderful restaurants and shopping. We went on a whale watch and, though we didn’t see a whale “breach” like we hoped, we did see a mother humpback and her baby, which was very exciting. We really enjoyed both the cottage and the location and will definitely be back! Next time we’ll go deep sea fishing.
This was our first visit to the southern Maine coast and the Rockledge Cottage was perfect. We arrived at 1:30am with only the sound of the ocean. We woke up and looked out the bedroom window to see a breathtaking view of the coast. The cottage was well equipped with towels, linens, cooking tools and dishes. We really only needed to bring our personal belongings and food. We enjoyed the great view from the cottage and we extremely comfortable our entire visit. If you seek to take in the beauty of the coast this is a great spot - you are set right atop the rock ledge coast of Maine.
