The Carriage House is very well run and appointed. Great place(s) as they are multiple units. Very clean and comfortable, centrally located, and WIFI worked great. For TV lovers- limited offerings, but I would argue you do not come to Ashland to watch TV.
This was our second time to stay at this property because we enjoyed it so much the first time. Its perfect location to see the plays at OSF, plus the owner’s attentiveness to the small details make it so relaxing and enjoyable. It’s quiet, well kept, and welcoming. We will absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to the Ashland, Oregon area.
My two sisters and I stayed in the Carriage Cottage, a two bedroom separate building. It was clean, well-appointed, comfortable, and very reasonable. It rained our entire stay, but no matter, Val provides umbrellas, and we were cozy inside when we wanted to be out of the rain. Val provides local insights and suggestions and is right there if she is needed. We loved it.
Great place to stay. Met all our needs
Val's tidy, well-equipped cottage was exactly what we needed for this trip. Both couples enjoyed comfortable beds, the privacy of separate sleeping quarters, the well-equipped kitchen, pleasant sitting areas (inside and out) for reading and conversation, the convenience of being within a few blocks of downtown, and sweet, unique neighborhoods nearby for morning walks. We also rejoiced at having A/C to keep us comfortable during the hot days. We appreciated the personal attention from the host: personal arrival orientation, a bottle of wine, tours of the grounds, cherry tomatoes right off the vine. If able, we'll come again.
Amazing location, comfortable attractive, and well appointed.
My sisters and I spent three nights at this property. Val was an excellent, unobtrusive hostess who provided a clean, modern interior in a venerable, old house within easy walking distance of the Shakespeare Festival. We enjoyed mornings on the wisteria draped balcony, as well as the jetted tubs in the bathrooms, and the well-equipped kitchen. We would definitely stay there again.
Quiet, comfortable, well-outfitted space in the first floor of the Carriage House with pleasant outdoor space for sitting and relaxing. Well-located relative to the downtown and theaters with just a short walk involved. Val is a gracious hostess and very prompt with responses to inquiries. Would highly recommend. Plan to come back.
Close to town! Everything was walkable. Clean, comfortable, and a sweet house. Val was a great host, and the wine she left us was wonderful.
The Carriage House was just wonderful. It was very clean, very quiet, and very comfortable. The 2nd bedroom upstairs (actually a separate small studio apartment) is very comfortable and makes for a nice escape area for people traveling together. The cottage is a comfortable walking distance to town avoiding the hassle of finding parking. The friendly owner, Val, was most helpful and provided a lovely bottle of wine on arrival. We will definitely be back and will recommend this delightful apartment to our friends. Thanks Val -- we had a great stay.
Close to OSF, quiet, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Val was super helpful. We all loved it.
Convenient to OSF, fully-equipped kitchen, friendly attentive service. The two-level cottage features separate upstairs and downstairs entrances so two couples can stay and each enjoy complete privacy.
We loved this house. It had everything we needed and was pretty too. It is very well located for walking into to town whether to see a play, browse the shops, visit the park etc; all of which we did during our stay. We also enjoyed spending time on the outdoor deck.......lovely! We would rent from Ashland Guest Cottages again as long as we could work out our one difficulty. The owners expect you to arrive between 3:30 and 4:30pm and in fact you are expected to have a specific appointment time at which you must arrive to meet with them.. We have never experienced this before and have been doing vacation rentals by owners for years and usually do multiple per year. We have always been given access information and a check in after time. To be clear this is stated in the Reservation Policy Details where it says Earlier or later arrivals may be arranged occasionally if these times do not fit your travel plans. Contact us ASAP for other arrangements. I did not read the policy details carefully enough when I reserved the house in the spring and viewed our 4pm appointment time as a check in after time. Our travel plans did not allow us to arrive at 4pm and Val was unhappy with me as she considered it an appointment. It was too late to change things so all I could do was apologize and it happened that when we arrived she was there so we went over everything she wanted us to know.
The house is small (750 sq ft), but conveniently located close to the OSF theaters and very quiet, although it is in the vicinity of the main traffic artery through town. It's ideal for a family with 1-2 teen+ children, or two couples, as the entrance to the second bedroom/bathroom upstairs is from the outside of the house. Our daughter loved the privacy of her own loft....The beds are comfortable and there is sufficient space for suitcases etc. The kitchen has all basic equipment, but we would not recommend to cook a large meal there, given size constraints. Parking is convenient in front of the house. The internet works perfectly. The owner/manager of the house lives next door and is highly responsive to every need of her renters. The only drawback of the property: the living area of the house is small (see website pictures). But one can use the deck/patio most of the day (some parts will be shady), as long as it is not raining or too smokey, as it was for a couple of days during our five-day mid-August stay.
We loved our stay in the cottage. The location is good---just a short walk to town. The most outstanding feature of this apartment is how thoroughly every detail is thought-out. It was exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything you would expect (and even some extras). We would definitely stay again.
The Carriage House was comfortable, clean and well stocked, and so close to the theaters, shopping, and bike trail. The owner was super nice and very helpful. We had a great stay. We’ll be back!
Just a quick walk into Ashland Town. Super cute accommodations. Air conditioned. And Val is awesome.
This was perfect for our us and our 2 teen-aged grandkids. We were able to cook most of our meals and had plenty of space. The rooms are very nicely decorated and Val is a wonderful host.
Perfect for two couples or family with older children. Loved the outdoor patio space for dining, reading or relaxing in the shade. Walking distance to theater, restaurants and shopping. Val very helpful and available for any question. Would absolutely stay here again!
Owner was friendly, helpful and fun. Worked perfectly for two couples with each having their own space. Darling cabin which was well stocked and comfortable. Will stay again!!
Val is an expert and attentive hostess
We had a excellent time at the Carriage House. Very comfortable accommodations, lovely patio and a short walk into downtown Ashland. We'll be back.
We loved having room to spread out to talk and eat. We enjoyed the sunshine on the patio during the day and the cozy living room at night. Walking distance from town and shows was enjoyable and not long. Val was delightful and very helpful whenever we had questions. We'll be back!
The Carriage House was perfect for my wife, daughter and me while visiting our son in Ashland. Clean and neat as a pin, this property is right in town and walking distance to everything. Val, the owner/operator was terrific. I highly recommend this property. We will most certainly be back.
This was our third stay at Ashland Guest Cottages and our first in the Carriage House, the largest unit. The upstairs was perfect for our grown son who had his own room (K bed), bath, small kitchen and deck. Downstairs we had a larger porch with space for 4-6, a small but very comfortable living area, separate bedroom with Q bed, and a well-equipped kitchen which even had a dishwasher! WiFi and climate control both worked great and rooms were very clean. Owner Val even surprised us with some wine to enjoy when we arrived. She has made good use of space as well as taken great care to make the various amenities comfortable and the decor appealing. Parking for this unit is just a few (level) feet away. Theaters are an easy 5-10 minute walk.
This was a great stay for us, and we loved being able to walk to town. The cottage is small, comfortable, and very clean. The owner was great, we would recommend staying here. Our teens stayed in the upstairs room.
The Carriage House lodging was perfect for 2 couples visiting Ashland and the Shakespeare Festival; very clean, comfortable and easy access to downtown (especially if you like a nice walk between plays). We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Carriage House to others and/or would book a future stay for ourselves.
Val was awesome, very helpful & generous, sweet place, close for walking to plays.
Despite the smoke, we had a great visit to Ashland. Val was very warm and friendly upon our arrival. Access to Lithia Park and the plays was wonderful--10 minute walk. Slight negative was that it was close to N. Main, so much noisier than the places we had rented in the past. The upstairs trundle/king/4 inch foam was not comfortable at all. We removed the foam and slept on the twins (cross-wise) which was at least more comfortable. Both units were furnished well and in perfect taste. We enjoyed our stay and the plays were wonderful! Marvis Forst and Judy Taylor
2 couples, 2 floors, all within walking distance to everything. Very clean and tastefully done. Thanks for a great weekend! Val was wonderful!
We stayed in the Carriage House. Our suite (ground floor) was clean and attractive. The kitchen was nicely stocked with dishes, silverware, pots, and pans. The proprietress pays attention to the needs of the guests. She is warm, welcoming, and helpful. We liked the convenient location to downtown and the theaters. We would certainly stay in AGC again.
It was a delightful place with all conveniences and close to the Shakespeare venue. Ashland was at our doorstep and the owner was a delight.
I rented two of these cottages in May, and plan to rent a third in July. I've stayed in several rental homes in Ashland, and these cottages are now at the top of my list. I came with a friend, and it was great to have separate spaces, with a cozy gathering area and lovely deck seating. The cottages are beautifully decorated and equipped, and close to the theaters. A small grocery store across the street is another plus. Our host, Val, was welcoming and helpful (and she lives in the complex).
The stay I had scheduled for two people and four nights unfortunately turned into a stay for just one . This was not a problem as Val helped in many ways and my stay was all in all delightful. The accommodations were fine and location made it an easy walk to down town and the plays. The beauty of the days made sitting outside a real treat to read, talk and doze. My trips to Ashland over the past years have usually been with a variety of family members and thus I had some degree of trepidation knowing I would be here on my own. Thanks to Val for making everything indoors and out feel like home.
This is a wonderful location for an Ashland stay - 4 easy blocks to walk to the Plaza. Val is a great host--she moved us into the Romeo & Juliet cottage when rain was forecast, since she knew we wanted enough space to sit & knit--very thoughtful of her. The cottage is well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Very clean, lots of nice little touches like a variety of teas; extra blankets & pillows; plenty of seating. The deck & view were great, I hope we can return when the weather is nicer so we can enjoy the outdoor areas. Thank you, we will be back!
This was a nice property, well maintained, very clean, and in a wonderful location that was close to the theaters and main part of town. The living room was a little small--fine for one or two people but not adequate for more. Overall, a very good experience.
From the moment of our arrival, Val made us feel at home in our home-away-from-home. Our rooms were ready and the amenities well thought out. The private deck was perfect for our morning breakfasts and afternoon cocktail hour. We were so grateful to leave the car and walk to town and the OSF for the three days of our stay. The Carriage House was perfect for us in every way. We will return to enjoy once again. Thank you, Val, for your exceptional hospitality.
We spent three nights at the Carriage House with our parents and would highly recommend the property when visiting Ashland. Val the owner is a wonderful host and offers excellent customer service; the property is newly remodeled, clean, well maintained, and both beds were very comfortable. We also enjoyed the outdoor space as it was perfect for having our snacks and wine before dinner. We have been going to Ashland for years and were in town to fish, go to the theater, and eat out!!
So comfortable and so conveniently located. Many thoughtful touches: electric tea kettle, cozy blankets and a welcoming bottle of wine. High recommendations.
The Carriage House is ideally located close to town, but not in the middle of all the noise. It has been equipped with jacuzzi tubs, modern appliances and good beds. It is clean, clean, clean! Three of us stayed there. The couple stayed downstairs, and I had the upstairs to myself. The Carriage House accommodates 4 comfortably. Two upstairs and two downstairs. We did not use the kitchen during this stay. We ate out, but it is adequately equipped, if you want to have meals.
The Carriage House was a perfect place for we two couples attending plays for a week. Upstairs was a small studio and downstairs a larger space with kitchen. It was quite comfortable and lovely, clean and well-maintained. We loved the patio with table, umbrella and overhanging wisteria. It was an easy 10-15 minute walk to the center of town and the plays. Val was a very kind and helpful hostess. We would be happy to stay there again.
We stayed in the comfortable carriage house and enjoyed it, and the location. The accommodations were small with amazingly ample space, including a perk of a separate space upstairs - housing a total of 4 adults nicely. The wonderful porch area was my favorite.
During our recent two-night stay in Ashland we utilized two of the rental units at this property. Both were very comfortable, well-appointed, and very clean. The location in relation to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and downtown Ashland is convenient; the walk takes about ten minutes. There is some reworking of the garden areas underway and should make the property even more attractive in the future. Val, the owner/operator, was very friendly during our visit. Our only concern is the owner/operator's inflexibility on the check-in time. Whereas we took the agreed upon checkin time of 4 PM as a no earlier than guideline she wished to treat the 4 PM time as a commitment we had made upon reservation to appear at the property no earlier and no later on the day of check-in. When I emailed Val two days before our arrival to let her know that we'd be visiting Crater Lake National Park the day of our check-in and would certainly not arrive before 4 and more likely would reach Ashland in the late afternoon or early evening she called the next day to inform me that I'd committed to the 4 PM arrival, that she had our deposit money already, and that she was not going to be held hostage to our plans. She made no suggestion as to how she might be able to be flexible or accommodate the uncertainty of our vacation travel. I have not been able to get a reply from the VRBO customer service to clarify whether this expectation is usual or not; this was my first use of VRBO. In summary, I liked the property and location, but one should be aware of the owner/operator's expectations regarding check-in.
Clean, comfortable, convenient digs close to theaters and central Ashland. Our family of four found everything we needed and more here. Looking forward to a return visit.
My husband and I and another couple stayed in the Carriage House for 3 nights. Val was a great host and was helpful and responsive to our needs. Her place was clean and had everything we needed. We were able to walk to just about everything in town which was great since theater parking can be difficult. My only issue with the Carriage house were the low ceilings both upstairs and downstairs. Our friend is 6'3 and hit his head a few times on the ceilings and doorways. This was not a problem for my husband and I as we are only 5'6, but the other units on the property would be more suitable for a taller person as they do not have the low ceilings. When we were checking out we asked about her other units on the property and Val took us on a little tour to show us the other cottages. We plan on coming back to Ashland and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Our party of four found the Carriage House to be very good rental and affordable but not cheap in it's appearance or amenities it offers. While it is not high end, it offers a lot of a what we look for in a good rental. Spacious enough for the number in our party, exceptionally clean and pleasantly decorated, nice patio outside, a well stocked kitchen, and very friendly, on site hostess who was available to our questions but otherwise gave us our space to enjoy our weekend. And best of all a few blocks 10 minute walk to the Theatre District. Thank you, Val, for offering such a convenient and lovely rental.
We were met by Val and showed everything thoroughly in the two units we stayed in. Very walkable distance to the theaters. Kitchen was extremely well stocked and we ate almost all breakfasts there plus dinner one night. Would highly recommend and we're hoping to return.
The Cottage we stayed in was very clean, modern and centrally located to everything we wanted to do while in Ashland. Our cottage had absolutely everything you would need while away from home. The owner ( Val) made you feel like you were visiting your best friend or family member. She is someone you would look forward to coming back to visit. Val was extremely accommodating and helpful with information regarding things to do around the area, restaurant locations and shopping. We look forward to our next trip to Ashland and hope we are fortunate enough to be able to rent one of Val's cottages. We have been recommending the units to all our friends who also travel to Ashland.
Two couples stayed in a two bed/two bath/two kitchen unit with separate entrances. The lower unit had a sitting area that was comfortable and inviting. There is a great deck with views of the mountains and comfortable chairs. Easy walk to theaters, restaurants and Lithia Park. Nice bottle of wine waiting on arrival and host is a wealth of information about the area. Would definitely return.
Just wonderful. Will go again!
Val was very helpful and let us check in early (after an excellent morning of mountain biking). I would stay here again.
A friend and I shared the Carriage House and we had a very enjoyable stay. It was a perfect location, we could walk to the theater and shopping, the house was furnished with everything we needed and we enjoyed exploring Ashland and then returning to relax on the deck. Val greeted us with a bottle of wine, which was very welcome after a long drive
Owner absolutely so welcoming. Rooms in back cottage perfectly appointed; she makes the most out of a smaller space. Shower fantastic and while we didn't prepare any meals, the kitchen was ready if we had.
Beyond my high expectations. The owner has poured her heart and soul into this place and it shows. So perfect for two couples. Plenty of privacy and common space. Clean as a whistle and a short walk to town.
We arrived late, around 10, but Val I was there to meet us. She was very helpful. The cottage was lovely and appointed with everything you would need for your stay. There was plenty a coffee, towels and even Netflix on TV, which my daughter loved. I would definitely stay here again. It's close to everything and made our stay perfect!
This space was so perfect for 2 couples. One couple had the upper bedroom and the other the downstairs with kitchen. We could be separated or together depending on our needs. The patio made it so pleasant to dine in the outdoors. We enjoyed our little walks into town. Easy walk and nice to be away from the town hubbub. During our stay we played golf on two different courses and we spent a day going to Crater Lake before our evening play. It was great to be so central to so many activities. Val was very available if we had questions or needs.
Val is very friendly and helpful, she was there if we were to need her, but gave us our space. The Carriage house was well furnished, tastefully decorated, and worked perfectly for our stay. It is so convenient to walking into town and Lithia Park. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends!
What a lovely stay we had with Val at the Carriage House. My husband and I took the downstairs bedroom and our adult daughter and a friend had the upstairs set up with twins. There are separate entries so the bedrooms give a great deal of privacy between the two spaces, if desired. Everything was fresh and comfortable, with nice linens. The small kitchen was supplied with coffee and had the basics for whatever you needed. Val left a bottle of red as a welcome gift, which we shared with her and enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the sunshine. Val had thoughtfully supplied a number of necessities in case you forget anything; A nail kit and sewing kit, toiletries, a spare pair of earbuds and charging cable. The spa tub in the bathroom was relaxing and nice for a soak. The location was great, just a bit north of Lithia Square and the theatres; well within easy walking distance. The Minute Market across the street is handy for picking up basics. A very nice set up!
I loved my stay here. I wanted a romantic evening with my partner. It was very romantic, private and cozy. Decor is well done and the unit is walking distance to downtown. Lots of eateries, music, ect. for entertainment. We walked in nearby Lithia Park and had a great afternoon, busy evening and romantic time in our cozy bungaloo.
