Beautiful setting, stunning views. My only recommendation would be to have the option of room darkening curtains in the bedroom so you could get a nap. The sunrise at 4:45 is so early!

This is a quiet easy to access property with windows that overlook the bay. Waterside Adirondack chairs on the deck were a nice touch. The listing said there is no WiFi, but apparently there is (we learned the day we checked put).

Sitting on the dock was extremely peaceful. The drive around Schoodic Point was amazing! Mark was very helpful with his suggestions. We definitely will be planning a return trip. Bonnie and Mark’s carriage house was beautiful, cozy, clean, and quiet. Just what we needed for a much-needed getaway. It was close enough to Acadia and other areas for hiking but remote enough to feel away from the hustle and bustle. The sunrise every morning on the bay was exquisite. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was nicely appointed in case you want to cook there, and we curled up on the couch with books several evenings while overlooking the bay. I love that there is a great view from every spot. Bonnie and Mark were great hosts with wonderful suggestions and easy to contact if we needed anything. We would highly recommend a stay here and hope to be back soon.

Such a great stay. The place is beautiful and exactly what we needed. Our stay was during Covid and we would have been able to not interact with any other humans, which is what we were looking for. It's in a nice quiet town that off the beaten path, but there are a few harbor towns close by that are just adorable. The restaurants we went to were all very good as well and Bonnie gave instructions on how to make lobster ourselves, which was extremely helpful. Great place to stay, can't recommend it enough.

What can I say... the property is beautiful. Bonnie and Mark are welcoming, helpful, and so hospitable. The views from the house are spectacular from every window and the deck. Walk out to the dock and there is more beauty. Schoodic Drive is very close and Acadia main entrance is about 40 min, but our personal favorite excursion was Quoddy Head. We went at Bonnie’s recommendation and glad we need. Well worth the drive. This house is a good spot in between the two places. You can’t go wrong here, especially is you love a little quieter spot. Thanks again, Bonnie and Mark!

Overall impression? Not enough space to describe!! If you are looking for a quaint, peaceful and tranquil location for a quick or lengthy getaway....this is highly recommended! The property is beautifully scenic and calming at every view. Waking up after a restful sleep, on a ultra comfy bed, to the sounds of the gulls, ducks and loons was a treat. We'll miss our morning coffee on the deck, or comfy couch watching the wildlife. We had fun exploring the area, including Schoodic Peninsula, Winter Harbor, and hiking atop Cadillac Mountain at 4:15am to view the sunrise. Loved the fact we could take a quick drive to Milbridge to Chipman's, pick out our lobsters, have them steamed, and drive back home and enjoy them!! Priceless memories! Thank you Bonnie and Mark for your hospitality!! We will definately be back!!

This was our 3rd stay at Bonnie and Mark's Carriage House. The apartment was spotlessly clean, everything worked well, including WiFi. Details, details, it is the waterfront location that is the essence here and cannot be beat. We kayaked everyday, in every direction, and every tide. There are plenty of close by walks and bike rides in case kayaking on the bay gets boring. Acadia (Bar Harbor) is only 40 minutes. There are plenty of excellent food options from lobsters and crab rolls, to some of the best Mexican in the US in Millbridge. The Carriage House is a peaceful, beautiful and just wonderful place to stay. Tom and Louise

Adorable little place to stay with friendly and helpful owner. I loved being on the water and having our own dock. Just wish Bar Harbor was a little closer! The stairs will wear your legs out if you took as many trips back and forth to the dock as I did but its worth it to watch the lobster boats and birds. Be careful on the stairs and the recliners are a little tricky to work but overall, definitely a 5 out of 5. Every room is well stocked with all your vacation needs and owner was very easy to reach and had great advise.

We loved staying at Bonnie and Mark's carriage house. The apartment was cozy and comfy. We arrived after 5 days/nights on the road. It was so nice to settle into a homey situation instead of a hotel room. We did not cook while we were there but the kitchen seemed well stocked with everything one may need to prepare full meals including sugar, spices and some coffee. Mark greeted us as soon as we arrived and gave us some delicious restaurant suggestions. There is also a list of restaurant and attraction suggestions on the refrigerator. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

We loved our stay at this seaside carriage house. The cottage was decorated beautifully, so homey and cozy. The weather was awesome for 6 out of 7 days we were there. The 1 day it rained we stayed in and listened to the rain; even that was enjoyable as Bonnie and Mark have supplied everything you need to be comfortable.! Watching the sunrise over the water each morning and listening to the seagulls was the highlight of our day. The pictures on line describe the cottage and property perfectly. We did a lot of exploring in Acadia, MDI, the Schoodic Peninsula, and drove to Lubec one day. Bonnie's suggestion to hike Gorham Mt. was great, and we also hiked Beech Mt. to the old firetower. Jordan Pond was awesome, and the drive up Cadillac Mt was fun with a panoramic view once you get up there. We ate dinner out most nights, but the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook. We ate a lot of lobster; had dinner at the Bar Harbor Reading room for our 16th wedding anniversary, one night at the Crocker House Country Inn, Jack Russell steak house, and Bella Vita italian. All are recommended! We would love to come visit again and thank Bonnie and Mark for opening their home to us. We had a terrific time!!

The second I walked in the door I knew it was going to be a fantastic stay. Lot's to see in the area. Schoodic Penninsula, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor . . just some highlights of where we explored. It's about an hour drive to Acadia but well worth it - it's a beautiful drive. Bonnie was always quick to respond to our questions and left a list on the fridge of some of their favorite places to visit. We did most of them and were not disappointed!!! A perfect place for two. Highly recommend!!!! Beautiful views of the Gouldsboro bay from the bedroom, bathroom and living room windows. A small dock with Adirondack chairs to sit and watch the wildlife. The carriage house is ADORABLE(and well equipped), the housekeeping skills are IMPECCABLE, the view is AMAZING. It was better than what we thought it would be. Roughly 45-50 min drive to get deep into Acadia but everything along the way is pretty to look at so it was well worth it to enjoy the park and have a wonderful place to retreat back to from the crowds. About hour and half to Campobello but again beautiful drive. Wish there was an option to give Bonnie, Mark and the carriage house a 6-star rating!

They truly are interested in providing a pleasant experience during your stay. This is evident in the personal touches furnished to the house; and, the sharing of recommendations for points of interest or local services. The location is great for commuting to Acadia or taking a morning walk in a semi-secluded area. Awesome view from the house and even better on the dock. Kayaks were so fun. Calm shallow water. House is great. Downside - it says ceiling fans but there is only one in the living room. It was warm and uncomfortable in the bedroom. It would have been fine with a fan. Also it was about 1.5 hrs to the main Acadia park. The nearby part has Schoodic Point which is a don't miss but it does not connect to the main park. Bar Harbor is an hour. Would be great if you want to spend a lot of time at the house. Also no internet and I didn't have cell service.

We had a wonderful time celebrating our 21st anniversary here. The house is comfortable and decorated so cute. It was so peaceful sitting down on the dock in the afternoon and watching the lobster boats. The owner is very friendly and accommodating, I highly recommend this place. It's not that far to Acadia or to Moose Horn up north and the drive up the coast north is gorgeous. Go to Schoodic point, it's close and you'll see eagles, deer, and beautiful coastline. This place is in a great location!

    Even better than the pictures.

My husband and I always wanted to visit Maine and this was the perfect home base for our trip. This location is about an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We spent our days exploring and returned in the evening to eat our fresh lobster! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed the pier/dock everyday. No matter what time of day we were relaxing by the water, it was always amazing! The lobster boats, birds, bald eagles and the ever changing tide kept us amused. Don't forget to get up early for the sunrise - you will never forget it! We had never kayaked before and truly enjoyed kayaking in the calm waters of the cove. A review would not be complete if we didn't mention our hosts. Bonnie and Mark were wonderful. They always had suggestions for places to eat and things to do. When we return, we will stay here again!

Had the privilege of staying at this amazing cottage for a couple nights, very last minute. Upon arrival, it was clean and exactly as advertised! Clean, furnished, on the harbor. We heard geese, ducks, and well, I'm not sure about the other birds, but it was amazing. We had s'mores on the fire pit, tried to watch a sunrise, but was overcast both mornings. That didn't stop me from enjoying the view, and watching the fishermen going out for the day. We'll be back, Bonnie is terrific to deal with, went out of her way with eatery suggestions, and things to do. She suggested Campobello, FDR's summer home, a beautiful trip, well worth the hour + drive up. Be sure you have a passport, as its Canadian! Thanks for your hospitality and graciousness.

Bonnie was extremely helpful and gave great recommendations for restaurants. The favorite part of our stay was the sunrise here. Make sure to not miss it!! Absolutely surreal on the dock. Between the moose, birds, and beautiful colors it's something out of a movie! We greatly enjoyed our stay and would love to return some day!!

This small vacation house is the perfect place for a romantic, peaceful, getaway. My husband and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and this was everything we could have asked for. The house was emaculate and adorable. We were away from any other house, and had quite a bit of land to explore. There are two kayaks and a canoe if you're interested, and a couple of small islands you can go out to. Absolutely stunning. They also have a nice fire pit with marshmallow skewers. I talked with Bonnie, the owner, a couple of times over the phone and she is very nice and she really wanted to make sure we had the perfect vacation at her place. In hindsight, I really wish we would have spent more time just relaxing here instead of driving to Acadia, Bar Harbor, etc. It is definitely a place we will never forget. Thank you so much! This place is about 1 hour from Acadia, so plan accordingly. Also, the cell phone signal is spotty and no internet.

We booked this cottage for my birthday getaway this past Memorial Day Weekend. My one complaint is that we didn't have more time to stay in this splendid carriage house and explore this beautiful area. When we first arrived we were stunned by the gorgeous views and the impeccable condition of the house. Pictures do neither justice. The house is spotless and tastefully decorated. The walls are painted a light coastal blue and the decor is perfect for a seaside home. Everything is light, open, and airy. The spacious kitchen is equipped with everything you might need, and the double doors lead to a cute deck with chairs--perfect for drinking your morning coffee while taking in the view. And speaking of the view--it's fabulous. This home is set just steps from the water. Lobster boats rest quietly on the island dotted bay. Sea birds gather on these islands, calling out to each other. The house faces east, and the sunrises are nothing short of incredible. I woke up early every morning to watch it. I would sit on the new pier and just take it all in. The rising sun cast brilliant shades of pink and orange over the glassy water. The sound of the awakening birds and the scent of the salty sea air was so peaceful. One morning I was lucky enough to see the resident harbor seal. The other activity I enjoyed was kayaking, and this rental actually includes two kayaks at no extra charge. We explored the bay and the islands, paddling by nesting birds and lobster boats. This rental also includes a large grill and a fire pit. The warm fire was perfect to sit by on brisk nights. Even though it was hard to leave this little paradise, we did venture out. The Schoodic peninsula is just minutes away and is a very pretty drive. The fishing villages of Winter Harbor and Corea are worth a visit while in that area. Corea was by far my favorite. I took many photographs of this traditional fishing village. We also took a trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National park. We ate really well while here. Don't miss Friday nights at Chester Pikes. Delicious seafood and the chocolate chip pie is to die for. We also had lobsters from Trenton Bridge Lobster pound--delicious! And now I would like to talk about our gracious hosts, Bonnie and Mark. They went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Bonnie even dropped off a jar of homemade blueberry jam and a card for my birthday. You don't encounter kindness like that too often these days. It truly made our trip a memorable one.

Bonnie and Mark have the gift of hospitality! They will truly make sure you have the vacation of a lifetime at their rental. The carriage house's decor is beautiful and allows your mind to unwind in such a peaceful setting. The house faces the East so you are bound to experience a spectacular sunrise while sipping coffee oceanside. The majestic woods and the glistening waters of Joy Bay are breathtakingly beautiful. This setting made my vacation feel like a vacation with no worries in the world. I also love to get out on the water to explore new sights and rented this home bc 2 kayaks were included. I had a chance to paddle Joy Bay, Gouldsboro Bay, and West Bay. I especially enjoyed paddling Joy Bay because there was rugged wilderness along the western shoreline. Trees lined the shoreline with very few homes. I felt like I was experiencing the scenery I'd see on a rugged backcountry camping trip, yet had the luxuries of a modern home! I wish I lived closer because I would rent the place year round if I could!! :)

Nestled in the woods overlooking the bay, you will feel right at home. The Carriage House is tastefully furnished, comfortable and has everything you need to relax and take it easy, right down to the soft linens and fluffy robes. The kitchen is generously furnished with all the necessities for preparing simple meals or a gourmet dinner. We enjoyed watching the lobster fishermen at work in the bay and awoke to the sounds of sea birds and gentle waves each morning. The sunrise was beautiful from the deck of the house. There was a fire pit for enjoying a fireside evening overlooking the bay.Chairs on the dock provided the perfect spot to watch the birds and other wildlife. We tried several restaurants,Chester Pike's on Friday night for a great seafood meal, save room for homemade desserts and also for a delicious breakfast...yummy wild blueberry preserves.Ruth and Wimpy's Kitchen in Hancock has a great menu for a taste of Maine. The Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound is an experience not to be missed where wood fired boils are prepared.Choose your own lobster or twins and get ready for a feast. Bar Harbor is about 50 miles away but an easy trip if you want to tour Bar Harbor or catch a Whale watching trip. There is a large selection of restaurants and shops to choose from as well. If you find yourself in Bass Harbor stop by the Seafood Ketch. The scallop rolls were delicious served on their own in-house prepared buttered rolls. We sat on the outside and had a wonderful view of the harbor and mountains of Acadia. Schoodic Point is a short drive from the house and one of my favorite spots to view the granite coast and crashing waves. It is quiet here and there are not as many visitors as in the other parts of Acadia National Park.We hiked the Gorham Mountain trail and were rewarded by incredible views at the top.If you prefer not to drive the whole park area, there are Island Explorer Shuttles that connect you to all the other areas of the park. Your park pass entrance fee supports the Explorer.Stop by the Hulls Cove Visitor Center north of Sand Beach and Bar Harbor Green for more information and maps. My husband and I also travelled to Campobello Island, Roosevelt Cottage and the Head Harbour Light station in New Brunswick. Bring your passport, well worth the day trip.Mark and Bonnie were warm and wonderful hosts. They anticipated our every need. You will love it here.

We had a wonderful stay at this ocean side carriage house. It was just as it was described in the write ups and pictures. It was very clean and really did have everything that we could possibly need. The ocean views were just beautiful at all times of the day. Since we were there in the fall we were also able to enjoy the beautiful fall colors as well. We enjoyed kayaking around in the bay with the extremely friendly and photogenic harbor seal. We were also surprised one day when a mature American Bald Eagle flew directly over our heads. That was amazing! We also got a good lesson in how tides work when we went out kayaking at low time. It did get lower! We enjoyed so many things about our stay at your carriage house. We will definitely tell out friends about it and to anyone trying to decide whether or not to try this place we say go for it. You will not regret it. The people are very friendly in the area. The food was excellent everywhere we went. There were places to shop, visit, hike, sight see, kayak, explore, you name it. The owners are wonderful, friendly and welcoming host. What more can I say. We had a fantastic stay. We will definitely plan to go back again. Thanks so much!

The carriage house is the perfect location for a retreat from the fast paced world. It is quiet, immaculate, well thought out, beautifully decorated with fantastic views of the bay. The carriage house even had a hair dryer which pleased my wife. Our many rounds of questions were answered promptly and honestly. At first, we were a little concerned about the carriage house being away from it all but in actuality it is a perfect location to rest and relax and yet is close enough to great restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping. This is the ideal location to explore Down East Maine. While we stayed at the carriage we checked out the most of the byways of the Schoodic Penninula, Acadia, Lubec and New Brunswick as well as many other locations. It was a real treat for us to see where old family friends grew up in Lubec and then to see whales swimming off the coast of New Brunswick by East Quoddy Light. We are both intrigued by light houses and had the opportunity to photograph many during our vist. We had simple but excellent meals consisting mostly of crab, clams and lobster. While we thoroughly enjoyed the carriage house, our meals, traveling in Down East Maine, kayaking and even swimming in the bay, the best part of the trip was how well we were received by Bonnie and Mark. They treated us like old friends from the start and it only got better after that. ALL of their recommendations were perfect including where to find sea glass in the rough, where to go out to eat, where to pick sea lavender, where to buy fresh crab meat, etc, etc.We also got the chance to see their beautiful home and to go out to eat with them. The ONLY disappointment we hd on this trip was that we had to leave this beautiful part of Maine. Bonnie and Mark typify the Irish expression that a stranger is a friend I have not met yet Thanks to Bonnie, we both gained a pound or two feasting on her blue berry cake. Do not miss the chance to experience this part of Maine and the genuine Down East hospitality of Bonnie and Mark !

My now-husband and I were on the search for a honeymoon destination that was laid-back and promised relaxation in the beauty of the northern New England region. After finding this carriage house and reading the description and reviews, we were immediately sold. However, after our week-long stay in mid-June we couldn't believe how much the property greatly exceeded our expectations! When we very first arrived at the house, we were blown away. The carriage house is private and secluded, directly on the water, overlooking an inlet where several lobster boats anchor - absolutely beautiful! We loved that the place had a dock to enjoy the wonderful water views and a fire pit to sit by on the cool evenings. The inside of the house was gorgeous and absolutely spotless! We couldn't believe the attention to detail that Bonnie and Mark spent on everything - anything that we would have ever needed was provided there for us. We loved having coffee on the balcony in the mornings and cooking on the grill at night. We were also very greatful for the list of their best recommendations - mountain hikes, bike trails, restaurants, bakery, harbors - who better to get advice about the area than them! The Gorham Mountain trail they recommended was breathtaking - awesome views of the ocean! We ate at the Crocker House Inn for some fine-dining - wonderful food and atmosphere, and at Chester's Pike for fish n' chips - also very good! Perhaps the very best thing that my husband and I enjoyed about our week in Maine was the hospitality that Bonnie and Mark provided. It is sometimes hard to come by these days, but from the very second that we arrived at the house, they made us feel right at home! We didn't get to cross a couple of things off our list of stuff to do that week, like using the kayaks they provided or cooking our own lobsters from the fishermen, but we do plan on doing them next year. We loved our stay so much, we plan on making it an every-year trip!

I stayed at the Carriage House for a week in mid-September and absolutely LOVED it. I felt at home from the moment I walked in. The kitchen is very well appointed -- it has every single item I wished for, including lots of dinnerware (not just 2 sets like some places offer) -- all in beautiful seafoam colors that make it clear you are in an oceanfront setting. The small living area was perfect for my needs, complete with a recllning leather loveseat that was the perfect ending to a long day of sightseeing. The bedroom is done is navy and white and it's crisp colors give a refreshing, nautical appeal. The bed is very comfy, and the chair overlooking the bay provides a nice peaceful place to read or daydream. The balcony off the kitchen provided great views of sunrises and sunsets, and many pretty pictures were taken from that vantage point. My absolute favorite thing about this rental was the kayaks that are provided! Two really nice ones.......you can launch right from the shore just a few yards from the front door. The bay is a beautiful place to spend sunny mornings exploring the small islands or talking to the lobstermen in the bay (and you can even pick up a lobster at the shack in the bay and paddle home with him)!! The deck has two gorgeous adirondack chairs and gorgeous views. The area is very quiet and fairly secluded offering lots of privacy. It's not at all touristy like Bar Harbor (a plus in my book!), and yet Bar Harbor is a close enough drive (about 50 mins) that you can go there for lunch or a tour at a moment's notice. It's very close to the Schoodic areas of Acadia, and Schoodic Point was gorgeous on the day I went, as a hurricane was brewing at a distance in the Atlantic and the storm was producing some fantastic waves. Bonnie and Mark were MORE than accomodating, answering all my questions and making sure I had everything I needed (and then some). And lastly, you have to try the fish and chips at Chester Pike's on Friday night -- there's nothing like it. All in all, this was a great place to vacation -- close to tons of major attractions and also perfect for day of relaxation without going anywhere. I'd done so much sighseeing that when it rained my final day there, I was happy to stay in sweats and watch TV and read in the cozy little carriage house. I highly recommend a visit to this area of Maine, and I absolutely assure you you'll love this home!

We spent a week at the carriage house from late September til early October and did not want to leave! Everything in the house was first rate and was beautifully decorated and immaculate. We had everything we could have wanted or needed available to us from the kitchen to the kayaks and bikes. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to explore the real maine and relax in its beauty. Bonnie and Mark were excellent hosts and were willing to help in any way during our stay. Chester Pike's in Sullivan has great fish and chips every Friday evening and the Schoodic Penninsula and Acadia National Park are a short drive from the house as are lobster pounds and breathtaking scenery at every turn. We just returned home from our vacation in beautiful Maine with lots of video footage, pictures and cherished memories! Our stay at this cottage was everything we had hoped for. Mark and Bonnie are the most gracious and accomodating hosts. They made us feel like family. The cottage was very clean, beautifully decorated and stocked with everything we needed. It sits right on the water with a private beach area where we could sit and watch the wildlife, launch a kayak or enjoy a campfire and the night sky. Bonnie gave us a best list of things to see and do that helped us navigate the area with ease since this was our first trip to Maine. Without their help, we would have missed so much. The cottage is conveniently located in the middle of the downeast region of the state, where you'll find friendly people, lots of wildlife and gorgeous views. It is within 45 minutes of Bar Harbour and Acadia National Park, 15 minutes from the Schoodic Pennisula where we found quiet coves and hiking trails with breathtaking scenery, and around an hour from Lubec and Quoddy Lighthouse State Park, the furthermost eastern point in the nation. Centrally located to all the area's attractions. Country living and 45 minutes to Acadia National Park by car. Bird's eye view of Bald Eagles, bay and lobster boats from your window Toured Bar Harbor, Acadia Nat'l Park, Whale watching, Schoodic Bay, numerous fishing villages such as Winter Harbor, seals Real fishing villages abound--not the tourist trap feeling you get in other so-called quaint fishing villages. This area is surrounded by real lobster/fishing villages Carriage house was immaculate! Used the Canoe and kyaks on the property--they were a blast! View from the Carriage house was absolutely beautiful--as a amateur photographer, I could not get enough of this area People that work and live in this area of Maine--wonderful people!!! Every where we went in this area, people were more than helpful and very nice. As a Georgia native, I can say folks in the South could learn a few hospitality skills from our Maine cousins. I can't say enough about how nice people are in this area. The owners--Mark and Bonnie were wonderful hosts. They were very concientious that every detail was taken care of prior to our arrival. They were also proactive in making sure that our needs were met without us having to approach them. Reality was they had already taken care of everything and then some, but they still checked occassionally via telephone to make sure everything was going well at the house. Mark (Owner) works for Acadia National Park. He and Bonnie provided maps/info about the park with personal notes about each site. They also provided insider info on local attactions such as Bar Harbor. Attention to detail was evident everywhere. The Carriage House was very well appointed. Cookware was top-notch, stove/over were top-notch, grill was new and gas tank was full. With the cookware at hand, no reason a fine gourmet meal cannot be prepared right there in the Carriage House A lobster pot and cooker is also available. Recommend getting lobster from one of the local lobster fishermen and saving yourself some money. Plus you are getting the freshest lobster possible. Mark and Bonnie can point you in the right direction. Recommended Chester Pike's for their Friday night Fish -n- Chips which is located about half way between Ellsworth and Gouldsborough. Recommend Reservation Can't wait to go back! One week was not enough!
