We stayed here so we could be close to Gore and Garnet Hill skiing. Everything was great. It is a compact space but was perfect for the four of us. The kids loved the original schoolhouse chalkboard. We stayed plenty cozy with the propane fireplace in the living space.
small, clean, and cute. 10-15 minutes max from Gore and downtown North Creek. description and pictures on vrbo are accurate. plow service was onetime during snow. only tricky thing was the gas fireplace was hard to work
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again! The place was cozy, comfortable and serene. We loved the gas fireplace and the sauna. One day it rained all day and we enjoyed staying indoors and keeping warm by the fire. Beautiful places nearby - Indian Lake was awesome to kayak on and hiking Crane Mountain was a highlight of our trip - stunning views at the top, especially during the Fall when all of the leaves are turning. Highly recommend staying here; give yourself enough time to both enjoy the home and also explore the Adirondacks.
The property is great. It is quiet and very clean. I wouldn't mind renting this property again.
In the country but close to North Creek, NY businesses. I enjoyed hiking some trails in the area.
The school house was a great place to stay for our trip to the ADKs. The accommodations were nice, and it proved easy to get to a number of places to explore - Indian Lake, Lake George, Lake Placid. I would recommend this place to others looking to enjoy the area.
Honestly, the place was really wonderful, clean, cozy and perfect for a weekend getaway!
Nice and quite. Very close to Gore mountain. Definitely will do it again.
Clean property....very close to gore mountain. Definitely would stay again!
We had a lovely stay and would return again next year. All the amenities are as stated and even better.
This place was amazing! I spent a couple of days here with my Aunt and Uncle and we made memories we will never forget. The cottage is beautiful and so cozy. The beds are also very comfortable! The area itself is so beautiful you have no problem getting into relaxation mode as soon as you walk through the door. I also loved finding out that this place was actually an old school house. The original chalkboard is still in the cottage! I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone! It was wonderful and the cottage and area is so beautiful.
We had recently stayed here with my cousins and aunt and uncle and we had a great time. This wouldn't be the first time and I'm certainly hoping won't be the last. The upstairs had more than enough space for all of us plus gave my aunt and uncle their own room! It may just be me but I love staying at a place where I can get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and take some time to unplug and spend quality time with the family and this space certainly does all that. I cannot recommend this enough. Another note, if you like to see the stars at night this is a prime location - light pollution is low in the area and can be a great late night activity.
What a relaxing time away to relax and unwind! The master bedroom was so cozy with a large window near the bed to look out to the beautiful woods, especially this time of the year. Nights were so peaceful because of the outdoor fires we could enjoy and then indoors while watching a movie or reading after a filling dinner we cooked in the provided crockpot and/or oven. The upstairs bedrooms accommodated our nieces and nephews, where they each had their own bed and space to play a board game on the carpeted floor. Each morning we would brew coffee and walk up the beautiful street to enjoy the views. This spot is perfect to stay to enjoy a quiet environment, but near a local downtown within 15 minutes to do the grocery shopping and grab a cup of coffee at the cafe. Driving distance to Gore to ski or snowboard also. We will be back.
This is our 3rd time staying here. We were very happy to see the kitchen was redone and a sauna added to the bedroom since our last stay. The sauna was a great new feature after a long say walking around in Warrensburg. We are looking forward to returning . Always a pleasure to stay at any of the owners houses. Thank you for making our mini getaway special. See you very soon!
This place was amazing. If I ever come back to this area, I will use again.
The cabin was beautiful and charming and would be great for a family with children, however for two grown adults it is not ideal. It was a little smaller than the pictures let on, and going up those narrow stairs for an adult was a bit tricky during the day so imagine going down at night. I ended up sleeping on the couch, which was amazingly comfortable. We would have liked to open up the windows to let the fresh mountain air in but there was only a screen in the bedroom window. Although the cabin was very clean and comfortable, unfortunately the outside was a little wanting. I would have liked to sit outside but the spider webs were out of control so I couldn't use the firewood or chairs to sit by a fire. The cabin is very remote, but sits nicely between Lake George and Fort Ticonderoga. It worked nicely for us.
We stayed for 2 nights in July. The cottage was small but adequate for 2people. Oddly laid out. Bed was very tight in the bedroom
We stayed for three nights, the place is very nicely decorated. All the kitchen appliances are updated and clean. As well as the rest of the home. Very cozy and comfortable. The front porch was great for having morning coffee and enjoyable to sit outside at night to watch the fireflies and great for star gazing. I would definitely recommend this rental property.
This cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway. The kitchen was great for cooking, the living room could not have been cozier, and the bedrooms were perfect for two couples or a family. Only suggestion is to have salt, pepper, and cooking oil on-site.
We have stayed at this house twice now and will certainly return. The interior of this schoolhouse has been renovated and is charming. It is only a few miles from Gore Mountain which makes the skiing experience all the better, The owners have two other rental properties in the area and my family has been renting from them for the last 5 years. They have never been anything less than over-accommodating at all times. We highly recommend this rental.
This adorable cottage style 2 bedroom home was clean and comfy. It was perfect for the 2 of us. It had all the necessary amenities in the kitchen and baths. It was a good option to renting a hotel room. The owners were easy to get in touch with and accommodating. We did lose power from the snow storm one night and we were easily comfortable by the fireplace for heat and light. I would recommend for sure!
Everythin we needed
The cottage was toasty warm when we arrived. Rooms were all clean and comfortable. The upstairs bedroom with four beds allowed each of us to have our own bed. The kitchen had all that we needed to prepare our food. It was a short drive to Gore Mountain. We really couldn't have been happier. We highly recommend this lovely cabin in the woods.
This was a bit of a mixed bag. The appliances worked and the house was generally comfortable, but it was all of the little things that made it sort of a C+/B- experience. We saw numerous ants crawling around the kitchen area while were there, the fire place never worked, a lot of the house appeared unfinished (as in exposed door jambs, multiple instances of exposed, unfinished plywood, obvious patch jobs in dry wall that weren't covered and repainted, etc.), and this host does not provide towels (they may have stated that in the listing, but failed to list any reminders with the other critical info that was sent just days before our visit). And even if you mention it in the listing, I found it odd that a house would be provided with all other furnishings (kitchen with utensils, pots and pans, dish towels!, bed sheets, pillows, blankets, etc.) but no towels. Maybe other guests dry themselves with the blankets?!? All in all the house had most of what we were looking for but just fell short in few very noticeable ways.
We actually ended up staying at another house owned by the same owner. They were kind enough to offer us a place in North Creek much closer to everything because the weather was going to be really cold. We enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and the fire place really hit the spot.
We traveled to the Lake George area for an event and wanted to stay outside of town. We enjoyed this rental. It was a great price and very cozy. The cabin was clean and had a few things that were helpful to our stay such as cups and plates.
I have stayed here the past few years. A beautiful place for my wife and I to get away. And the main town and skiing isn't far away. I love that it was an old school house and has that theme. Looking forward to going back.
My wife and I have stayed here the past few years. An amazing quaint place. I love that it was an old school house and it still has that feel. We can't wait to come up again this year.
