Perfect for any season, this year-round retreat is located in the village at Palisades Tahoe, just walking distance to many attractions, particularly the ski lift and golf course! Enjoy hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and communing with nature during the warm months, while pounding powdery snow in the winter season. Though this spot is quiet and peaceful, you'll find an array of local eateries and entertainment available to provide fun for the whole family. This home is also close to the starting point of The Western States Endurance Run. Make sure to wrap up your day relaxing in the hot tub that's on-site.
Inside you'll find tranquility at the forefront with simplicity and relaxation throughout. Prepare meals or on-the-go snacks for your group in the full kitchen with a breakfast and coffee bar, or curl up for movie night in front of the stacked-stone fireplace, which has a large TV above it. Challenge each other to various board games on-site and make treasured memories. Relax and rest your head on the comfortable bed while the air-conditioning keeps the room nice and cool, or soak off the campfire or sunscreen in the roomy shower. Loved staying right at the village and it was an overall great unit and stay
Save yourself the aggravation and run from this property. Or better yet, if you like the location, like we did, just book direct through Palisades. This property is NOT managed by Palisades, but by a company called Vacasa. Unbeknownst to us, the Palisades employees are not supposed to help you with anything because they don’t manage the property. Need towels or a maintenance person or housekeeping? Good luck getting a hold of Vacasa. Vacasa waited until the last minute to send us access information to the property, and their instructions said to get keys from a lockbox at “Dave’s Boardshop”. They failed to mention that the lockbox is not anywhere in Olympic Valley, but at the bottom of the canyon. Check in time is at 4:00 pm, so that meant sitting in skier traffic for hours to get back down the canyon. Also, the shop is not actually called “Dave’s Boardshop”. If you plug that business name into Google Maps, it will take you to a shop in Tahoe City. Vacasa was non-responsive to both our texts and phone calls, but thankfully one of the Palisades bellmen took pity on us and helped us figure out where to go. Interestingly, he mentioned that all the condos on their property managed by Vacasa seemed to be problematic. If that weren’t enough, this condo is not maintained well – probably because the property managers have never been there. One of the windows is busted, the bathroom sink leaks and the cabinet underneath (where spare towels are) is full of mold. The television in the bedroom doesn’t work, and the Internet network Vacasa sent us doesn’t exist. We found so many dirty dishes and utensils put away in drawers that we ended up washing everything before using the kitchen. The kitchen is pathetically stocked, there were hardly any paper products, and no coffee supplies. I could go on and on, but imagine it being furnished and stocked by some bachelor with no attention to detail who also never stays there, and you’ll get the idea. Not only would I never come back or recommend the place, after this experience I’ll run like hell whenever I see the Vacasa name. I really can’t believe we paid as much as we did for that hole.
Our stay was horrible from beginning to end and I would not suggest anyone rent this condo. We rented this 8 months in advance of our stay as it was our daughters winter break and we wanted a nice vacation. It was also the World Cup and we knew accommodations would sell out quickly. On our arrival date we followed the instructions to get a key from the lockbox, there wasn’t a key inside. It took 4+ hours and several phone calls with very rude and unprofessional vacasa representatives to get a key. Upon entering the unit, we found a long list of unacceptable and unsanitary conditions for our week long stay. The toilet seat was cracked and could cut our young children, the toilet leaked, the bathroom sink leaked and mold was growing underneath, the tv didn’t work and the unit was never cleaned. There were dirty dishes put away, the bedding had stains, there were beer bottles on the patio. Most of the kitchen items were broken. We have spent weeks discussing the poor conditions of this rental and need for some type of refund given the condition and difficulties. Vacasa has been difficult and rude and in turn only offered us a credit for cleaning that is less than the cost to fill my car with gas, pathetic. I later learned many of the same conditions were reported weeks before but not fixed. We’ve asked Vrbo to remove vacasa. as a property manager and I would run as fast as you can from this unit and vacasa.
We enjoyed the unit very much. We had a few slight hiccups initially such as the check in instructions stating the unit was in building 1, 2nd floor when in reality it is in building 5, 1st floor. In addition, we had no access to wifi initially. The wifi instructions are not accurate - the hotel staff was kind enough to provide the actual login information for guests of the resort on the second day of our trip. Lastly, we had no bedding for the pull out couch, but I will say within a few hours they were kind enough to bring over a complete bedding set. All in all a good location and clean unit. We'd stay again.
I stayed in this unit this past weekend with my husband and 2 young daughters. With the amount of snow that has recently fallen, Palisades was extremely busy. Having a place to stay in Palisades Village was priceless in terms of not having to deal with traffic and parking (the unit comes with 1 underground space) and being located so close to the mountain (the unit is in building 5 on the edge of the village - a short walk to the lifts). The convenient location of this unit was well worth it, and I would definitely stay here again. The check-in process was easy - you pick up your keys at Dave's Board Shop which is a short drive away, and the unit was clean and comfortable for our family of 4. Jake with Vacasa has in touch via text and very responsive to the small issues that we encountered. It was nice to have a real person to address them in a timely manner.
The unit is in the village at Palisades, obviously it is a great location. It looks out on the parking lot but it is across the hall from the sauna and hot tub area so that was good. The furnishings were fairly nice (e.g. Pottery Barn sofa bed, granite countertops). Unfortunately, the great location and good furnishings were overshadowed by Vacasa's inability to properly respond to simple issues. We checked in on a Sunday. When we arrived there was a large stain on the blanket in the master bedroom, no blanket for the sofa bed, the wifi network had been changed by the resort, and the sink was leaking in the bathroom which had been fixed by putting a bowl and towel underneath, leading to mold/mildew growth. We contacted Vacasa and were told that no one was available to deal with any of these issues, but their local staff would contact us. The next day, after hearing nothing back, I washed the stained blanket at my own expense ($7) in the shared laundry room. 2 days alter, I contacted Vacasa again and the remote help desk said At the moment I cannot give a definitive timeframe on when the local staff will be there. We were a little bit short-handed. Later that day, a local staff member called me. He dropped off a blanket, but was not able to get the updated wifi information, and said he would contact the owner. The staff member told me over the phone that I can barely get anyone to work during the week, let alone evenings or weekends. At the end of the stay, 5 days later, we still never got wifi access. I hope at some point Vacasa got a plumber to fix the leaky sink. Vacasa clearly does not have the staff or organisation to manage this rental properly, which is unfortunate because it is a nice unit.
