I could smell the cleaners upon my arrival and the view is completely accurate on the site. I even saw many dolphins on my last day just before 10:00 am. Not fancy but 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and beds we’re comfortable and the place had everything I needed including a corkscrew and coffee maker. I would definitely stay here again.
The condo is in a nice location. It was clean, however dated. The living area needs more lighting as there is only one small lamp. It also needs more comfortable seating. Otherwise a nice place.
The unit is close to the ocean, with access to a pool, which were the main attractors, given the reasonable price. For the most part, neighbors were quiet. The place is also close to amenities in town. That said, when I got there however, the tiny rod that switches between bath and shower in the kids' bathroom had a leak, causing a horizontal spray, while the right handle of the sink faucet also had a slow leak. I made a point of reporting these problems to Oak Island Accommodations the very next morning. They were responsive, to a degree, and sent someone to verify my assertion. That person left a note that a plumber would stop by the same day; that plumber would eventually come two days later and only fix the shower (he wasn't apprised of the sink leak and wasn't equipped to fix it). He would return the following day to deal with the sink, at my behest. In addition, cook pots and pans are fairly decrepit, those of them with teflon have the coating worn out. My wife used a pot to fry eggs, as the frying pan was unusable. Finally, the place could definitely use a coat of paint and a significant face lift. The master bedroom smells musty and a portion of the insulation in the ceiling is exposed, within the closet. The kitchen appears about 40 years old.
Unit could use some updating but the patio/view made up for that fact. We did, unfortunately, have a huge water issue from upstairs unit so had damp carpet, an entire wall of missing drywall/exposed studs and then had a dehumidifier running all week. Couldn't be helped but that was less than pleasant. Maintenance were fantastic about patching the leak and getting out...thankfully we weren't bumped from our reservation.
