    Great Stay Old Man Bay

This was our second time in this condo and we enjoyed it. Not only the condo itself but we really like the north side of the island. Not as busy, the private beach and cove are great and the local people are so friendly. We never felt unsafe and had great conversations with some of the locals. Our favorite spots were Island Bites, best malts ever; and Italian Kitchen has the best pizza I've ever tasted!! The condo was clean and comfortable for our 12 day stay. Ernie was very responsive to all our questions before and during. Thanks for a great stay! Hope to be back someday.

The Old Man Bay location is invitingly quiet, but the various beach activities of Rum Point are within an easy drive. Easy access to restaurants/eateries: Over-the-Edge, Rum Point Restaurant, Run Point “walk-ups”, Caboose, & the nearby “taco” truck. Well-appointed condo with mask, fins, snorkel, beach towels. Condo is in excellent condition. Friendly grounds crew. Barbecue units are available, although we did not use. We enjoyed the well-kept grounds, sitting by the pool & on the beach.

Had a great time staying in Old Man Bay. It is away from the noise & 'tourist traps' of George Town. The view was spectacular, great protected swimming area & beautiful beach. Our condo was neat & clean - had everything you would need for a temporary stay. You will have a bit of a longer drive, but this was our favorite place we've stayed on the island thus far.

Just got back from a week in Grand Cayman; our family of four had a wonderful time. Ernie & Virginia's place is beautiful and has all the amenities you need. It was great with two teenagers to have their own room, much better than staying in a hotel. The kids' were able to snorkel in the lagoon and enjoyed that. It was rare that anyone else with at the pool with us. We were in close proximity to many restaurants, Tukka was our favorite. My husband also really like Czech Inn! We were close to Rum Point and took a boat ride to Stingray City and snorkeling. We had planned on doing a sunset cruise, but unfortunately the day we planned was not a great weather day. We were glad we hadn't booked the cruise prior to that day because I don't believe you get your money back if you cancel, they just give you another day. All in all we had a great time!

Great location in well equipped condo

This condo was located in an ideal location on Grand Cayman if you are looking for solitude, but not too far from everything. 10-minutes to Run Point, 15-minutes to the East End and 30-minuets to Georgetown/Airport. Lots of beach towels, a couple chairs and a fully equipped kitchen made his the perfect rental for us.

Just got back from a week at Old Man Bay condo #206 - we had a fantastic trip, packing a lot of activities and beach time into our days. First off, the owners, Ernie and Virginia, have created an amazing oasis in their beachside home, filling it with everything a vacationer could want or need. The pictures really don't do the home justice - it was spacious, clean, and comfortable with great beachy decor. Secondly, the location was perfect. You are away from the crowds and traffic and close to great beaches and activities. Must dos close by: Stingray City (boats leave from Rum Point), Bioluminescent Bay kayaking (at night from Rum Point), and the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park are 5-15 minutes away. Not too far: Pedro St James Castle (ask for Stacy Eden Hurlston as your guide - he is descended from the original owners of this oldest home on GC). The beaches nearby were great - if you like beachcombing, this is a fantastic place to visit - we found sea fans, sea beans, sea glass (even some marbles!), urchin tests, sponges, coral (SO much!), and shells. Snorkeling is good, too. (We don't dive but hear it is amazing off GC.) Restaurants are great on the island - we had a car for the week so we were able to check out things near and far. We LOVED Kaibo at Rum Point, but also Tukka in East End (go feed the frigate birds at 5 each afternoon), Eagle Rays (sister restaurant to Tukka), Over the Edge (get the coconut shrimp) just 2 minutes from the condo, Macabuca at the Cracked Conch in West Bay for a sunset, Calypso Grill at Morgan Harbour in West Bay, and Sunshine Grill in the Seven Mile Beach area. Best of all was coming back each day to this fabulous home. Thank you, Ernie and Virginia for your hospitality. We had a wonderful stay and can't wait to come back!

We stayed in this condo in August . The apartment layout is perfect for family with 2 kids or even 2 families - 2 separate bathrooms make it easier. This apartment has everything needed for perfect stay, owners did really a great job to provide all necessary stuff . I rented many condos and houses in Cayman , and this one is the best out of all of them. Building located in quiet part of the island , it has elevator. There is pool in the complex, and the natural pool , protected by coral reef. On North site is really hard to find any place with good water entry, thus, this natural pool is really big plus . Many Thanks to Ernie and Virginia for very good accommodation you provided!!

Just got home from a week in Paradise. The condo was perfect for my family of four. 10 and 15 year olds shared the super large bedroom and loved having their own bathroom. The master bath and bedroom were perfect too. Kitchen had all the amenities plus more. Super clean and perfect location. The snorkeling right on beach was awesome. Saw all sorts of tropical fish including a lion fish. The pool was super clean and very refreshing. We liked being a few spots back from the beach so the wind was not so strong. Would go back again for sure.

I wish I could wake up here every morning! We had a great time at this very comfortable condo. Many days we had the pool and the beach to ourselves. The condo was very clean and well stocked with items we used everyday like the coffee pot, toaster and blender. Ernie checked in with us when we arrived to make sure everything was ok as did the property manager, Mitzi. We enjoyed being on the quieter side of the island and visited many of the restaurants on the East Side - Tukka, Eagle Rays, The Italian Kitchen, The Lighthouse and Over the Edge. A car is necessary for your stay here but it gives you the freedom to go anywhere you want on the island,. We highly recommend Star Fish Point, Rum Point, QE II Botanic Gardens and the Cayman Turtle Farm. We highly recommend staying here!

Spacious, centrally located and beautiful views of the reef.

Thank you for providing a well equipped unit for a fantastic stay in Grand Cayman. The only thing missing upon our arrival was a coffee maker, which was broken by the previous tenants and was replace the next day. The North Shore is a wonderful area to get away from the crowds. Being snorklers, the location of Old Man Bay is in the middle of everything. Car rental is a necessity to take advantage of this location. We could get to our favorite snorkel spots at Cayman Kai beach, Star fish point, Spotts Beach and Eden Rock within 10-15 minutes. There's always someplace good to snorkel if you pay attention to the wind direction. When the wind is coming out of the Northeast, it's hard to snorkel from the North Shore. On the Bay Condo has a little lagoon that provides a barrier so snorkeling is possible even on high wind days and the lagoon has fish ( angel fish, jacks, porcupine and others). The balcony on the unit was wonderful for morning and evening meals and sunset views. I can't say enough about this location and condo. On our next visit to GCM we hope to stay at this unit again. Thank you Ernie and Virginia!!

I can't say enough how wonderful our stay was at this property. My husband and I are still in awe of our amazing vacation here. The condo is completely clean, spacious, and comfortable. We had breakfast every morning on the balcony overlooking the incredible view. While the pictures here are beautiful, in person the views are surreal. It was completely serene sitting by the pool and on the beach. It felt like our private oasis. The location is also wonderful. Just a short drive north to get to Rum Point, and a little further to find Starfish beach. We also like to drive into Seven Mile Beach to check out the shops and restaurants, and we didn't mind the 30-40 min drive where you can see great views of the water and homes along the way. There is no doubt we want to return to this fantastic property! What a dream vacation!

Very neat and clean. We couldn't swim in the ocean in front of the unit (too rough) but went to nearby beaches like Rum Point and Spott's. While that required quite a bit of driving, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the condo in the morning and afternoon. Pool is not heated but still comfortable. Well maintained grounds and unit. Thank you.

We spent a little over a week in this apartment in Old Man Bay and we had a fabulous time. It's a great set up for small children (we have a 6 year old with a physical disability and it was perfect) and the beachfront location is awesome. We were there over easter week and the beach was nearly deserted whereas every other beach on the island was packed. I cook a lot and the kitchen was well stocked and ideal for cooking three meals a day. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was impeccably clean. The washer dryer was super convenient, as was the cable TV. The view from the balcony was really wonderful. We liked the location - not touristy but easy to drive to Morritt's and Rum Point. We also went to the botanic gardens which are amazing. I recommend Hurley's grocery store over Foster's especially for meat, fish and produce. Definitely bring water shoes because there is a lot of coral on the shore. The snorkelling right in the lagoon was pretty impressive and perfect for our 7 year old to snorkel on his own. The lagoon is also great for swimming laps and the roads out of the apartment are safe for running for a woman alone. Ernie (the owner) was very responsive and helpful. We almost never go to the same location twice on vacation, and we are already planning to return . Cayman is fabulous and this apartment is the perfect getaway. We are all in withdrawal!

We had the good fortune of staying here for two months this past winter. This unit is very nice and well maintained. Since we were there for two months, we obviously did a lot of cooking in the unit. The pots and pans are not the flimsy little things that burn everything when you try to cook. The only thing missing was a cookie sheet! All the appliances were in good working order. Good supply of beach towels...plenty of linens. Seems as if they made it for your convenience! Couldn't ask for more. They called after we checked in to make sure all was ok and if we needed anything. Very accommodating! We prefer to stay here as Georgetown gets to be a bit crazy. There are several eating places nearby if you want to go grab a bite. Not wall to wall people!! We loved it here and hope to come back!

As other reviewers have said, this condo really did have it all. Very comfy for our fam of 4. The balcony and its view were great for morning coffee, board games with the kids and just relaxing and listening to the waves. Inside the unit it had everything we needed for a full week, including some extras that were very nice: beach umbrella & chairs, beach towels, extra flippers and snorkels, lots of linens, plenty of kitchen accessories, the list goes on. It had strong wifi and my boys loved their room with the game system, twin beds and their own bathroom. The pool was a wonderful spot and we spent several hours in it and relaxing poolside. I would recommend that bldg management and/or owners have it cleaned more than once a week...during our Sat - Sat stay the pool tech only came once, on Friday. During the week, we scooped a few dead crabs out (I get it, it's the Caribbean) and it collected quite a bit of sand and debris even though rinse buckets and hoses were available...just unaviodable when you have kids about. All but one group that we met on the property had kids. The beach in front of the condo was indeed rocky but not impossible to walk on. Compared to 7 Mile, our little cove seemed less than impressive...my boys chose not to swim in it much. We also did not snorkel in front of the condo although there are some great spots nearby. During our particular week they had several days of rough/choppy seas so we kept to more kid friendly areas like Rum Point and 7 Mile beach for snorkeling. If quiet and peaceful and a good deal for your money are important to you, I highly reco staying in Old Man Bay. This condo was lovely and we would stay again. Owners were very responsive to our pre-trip questions and follow-up after departure when we thought we left something behind. Go, enjoy!

If you're looking to get away from the elbow to elbow spacing of Seven Mile Beach - this is the place. You get the beach and all the serenity that goes with it to yourself. You will lack nothing in terms of amenities, and if you cook - it will save you a lot of money as restaurants are expensive. My family had a great stay. The place is immaculate and the owners were 100% responsive to every little need or request.

This was the cleanest condo I have ever rented. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable for a family of 5. The area was private and quiet. My only disappointment, and it has nothing to do with the condo, is that the beach alcove was very rocky. Great for sitting, relaxing and admiring the view but not for recreation.

We stayed at this water front condo for 10 days. The condo itself is large, bright and tastefully decorated. Kitchen had everything we needed. The best feature is a big balcony with magnificent ocean view. The swimming is perfect (if u have little kids it feels very safe). The beach felt super private (that's what we were looking for). The weather was fantastic. We didn't want to leave. It was truly one of our most relaxing vacation ever and we travelled a lot. Our favourite restaurant is Over the Edge which is right on the ocean, 2 min from the condo. the food was fresh and tasty. We had a great time on the island. I highly recommend this condo. The owners were very helpful and thoughtful.

Stayed for a week and really enjoyed it. The pictures are very representative of the condo and grounds, condo actually felt a little more spacious than it looked. It was very clean, well-equipped and comfortable. The grounds were quiet and felt private, we were in the pool daily and never shared it with anyone. My son (7 yo) liked snorkeling in the small cove, not exactly like a reef but there were a few fish and urchins and he was quite impressed. Enjoyed a trip to Rum Point, and on an iffy weather day went to the botanical gardens which we liked, the kids were excited to seek out the rare blue iguana. Had dinner several times from Kurt's Korner which had very friendly if somewhat relaxed service and good food. Some gracious locals helped me negotiate my way into the attached liquor store a few minutes after closing time. Ernie the owner was responsive and very helpful, we're already thinking about a trip back next winter.

We had a perfect island vacation at Old Man Bay with our 3 teenagers! This condo was wonderful for us with all the comforts of home and we really enjoyed the quiet north side location. The kids loved the lagoon and were in the water constantly. The condo, pool, beach and grounds are very clean and beautiful. Rum Point is a fun place to hang out for a day and the snorkel trip to Sting-ray City and renting jet-skis there was a highlight of our vacation. Morritts Resort on the east end is also a great place to hang out for a day and we had fun on the beach there also but our favorite place to relax was on the beach and property at Old Man Bay. Driving around the island is easy and having a rental car is a must. We will visit Grand Cayman again and I can't imagine staying anywhere else!

Outstanding!!!! We had the best time at Old Man Bay. The condo was like our second home, felt welcome from the minute we walked in the door. We are already planning our visit for next year, and would recommend this great condo to anyone. Rum Point, just a 10 minute drive, was our spot to just chill. Beautiful beach, nice spot for lunch, great rum runners, just awesome. Over the Edge, a restaurant just around the corner was recommended by Ernie and Virginia, we went there several times. Good food, great view, reasonable prices. Kurt's Korner, just a 2 minute drive from Old Man Bay, awesome too!!! Can't wait to go back next year and the next year and the next year. We can't wait to recommend this property to all our family and friends, and of course to return soon. Our favorite fun place was Rum Point and the Waverunner tour. Our favorite restaurants were the Calypso Grill and Papagallo. We also visited the Botanical Gardens, National Museum, and Motor Museum among other points of interest. What a great find! And I must give credit to the friend I travelled with as she found it. We were more than thrilled with ALL that this condo had to offer. And Ernie, the owner, was extremely responsive; the place was immaculate; and any surprises we had were pleasant ones. The private beach, the cleanliness, the comfort of the condo - all even more than we could have imagined! And if that wasn't enough - after leaving the island, I'd lost two little parts to a wood carving I'd bought. Ernie arranged to have friends purchase the SAME carving, then he shipped it to me!! Now that's over and above anything I would expect, and I will be forever grateful. I hope one day to return!!

Had the most fabulous 8 days of rest, relaxation and adventure. The condo was perfect. It was clean, spacious and comfortable. The view of the ocean from the balcony was wonderful. The design of the complex is great in the way that all the balcony's provide privacy as there is no direct line of sight to other balcony's when you're relaxing on your own. A car is a must for the North Shore, but I would have wanted one anywhere for the freedom of driving around the Island. There is so much diversity between the areas and so much to see. This condo was the perfect home base for all our travels... the longest drive anywhere was about 35 minutes. A few highlights are: Only 10 minutes to Rum Point where we caught the catamaran out to Stingray City - totally awesome! Only 10 minutes to Morritts where I set out for my breathtaking scuba adventures. Only 5 minutes to Mastic trail - local floral and fauna hike Only 10 minutes to Lighthouse restaurant - Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Only 15 minutes to Tukka's - Great food (Native fusion), service and scenery as well. Only 2 minutes to Over The Edge - great breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar options - went more than once :) Right from the time we booked the condo, Ernie, the owner, was quick to answer any questions we had and provided a lot of very useful information... his support made everything flow so smoothly. This is the first time I have booked with VRBO and because of this amazing experience, I would never book any other way in the future. The property is in a quiet and beautiful area of the island yet still easily accessible to restaurants and grocery stores. Pictures cannot convey the incredible beauty of the location. The condo building and grounds are immaculately kept. All the amenities of home were provided to include a 42 LCD TV and WiFi. The beach was perfect- do not forget to wear swim shoes if you are adventurous in exploring the coral areas otherwise you may meet a sea urchin like I did. The pool water was crystal clear and the water was warm. We loved it so much, we are already planning our next trip back. The owner provided a lot of material on things to do and places to see. We especially enjoyed the hike through the center of the island (Mastic Trail) with the trailhead within a mile of the condo (best to wear running shoes or hiking boots to do it). Within a few days on the island, we felt like it was home.

Ferry available at rum point to Georgetown(across the bay) but a car rental is a necessity to get around the island. This was our first time traveling to the Cayman islands and thanks to the owners of our condo at Old man Bay, our visit was great! Ernie and Virginia were so helpful with any questions we had and even checked in on us when tropical Storm Ernesto came through. The condo itself is very nice and doesn't scream Beach House , because the color and decor of the interior are tastefully done. We had a wonderful time traveling throughout the island during the day, but were always happy to drive back to the quiet North side of the island. The amazing scenery and friendly local folks made this one of our most memorable vacations ever!

Let me start off by saying this was our eighth visit to Grand Cayman and this condo is AMAZING. You definitely get a lot for your money. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. The condo is very clean, cozy and spacious. The owners are super helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The community was a deserted ghost town which was nice as you felt the place was all yours. The location is great because it is at the end of the highway (a two way road that you do not hear from the condo) which leads to the other side of the island making the commute to the west side not that long (20 minutes or so). The community is also well kept, the pool was clean, BBQ's is good condition but bring charcoal and lounge chairs were in good condition on the beach. Although we did not bring our children, the lagoon would be perfect for small children. TV and satellite worked great although you are in Grand Cayman, live a little! ? Close by: The Reef Bar ~ Great food, great service. Over the Edge ~ Decent food, good service. Rum Point (10 minutes away) Fun place to hang out during the day. I would HIGHLY recommend this condo for people of all ages.

Beautiful condo (better than the pictures) in a small, private complex on a very quiet part of the island. Ernie and Virgina were wonderful to work with and went the extra mile to make our first trip to the island very memorable. The only negative was the shore was very rocky except for the man-made beach at lagoon and we went had go to Rum Point when we wanted to just hang out on the the beach. Sturdy footware is a must to protect against the sea urchins in the rocks when entering/exiting the water while snorkeling.

A stunning condo in a great location

If you are looking for a spacious condo in a quieter part of the island then look no further. It is well maintained, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. It is extremely spacious and the photos don't really do it justice. Location: The condo is part of a small complex consisting of 12 condos with a beautiful shared pool right next to its own private beach and swimming lagoon.Because it is a small complex, the pool and beach were quiet most of the time. It is situated on the quieter part of the island away from the hustle and bustle of Seven Mile Beach where you feel like you are on a Caribbean island rather than in Florida. It is about 10 minutes away from Rum Point and the Kaibo, 45 mins to Seven Mile Beach and 35 mins from the airport. You definitely need a hire car. Eating Out: Despite being in a quiet location there are several great places to eat nearby which are also reasonably priced and serve delicious food. Rum Point and the Kaibo (15 mins drive away) both have beach bars serving burgers, wraps, local fish etc; Over The Edge(our favourite restaurant) is 5 mins drive away serving lots of fresh fish, jerk chicken/pork and rice and beans on a verandha overlooking the sea; Tukka is 15 mins drive away serving a 'fusion' of Australian and caribbean food. Supemarkets: The closest supermarket (Fosters) is in the East End which is about 15 mins drive away but it is fairly small although it has a reasonable selection. There is a larger Fosters in Savannah which is about 25 mins drive away which has a much better selection and further afield still there are some even larger supermarkets. Overall: If you want to be close to the hustle and bustle of Seven Mile Beach with its numerous (expensive!) restaurants, bars and shops then this is NOT the place for you. If you want to stay in a gorgeous condo in a quieter and less developed part of the island where you really can get away from it all but still be relatively close to some excellent places to eat/visit then book this condo now!

    Best Family Vacation Ever

We are three-generation party of divers, snorkelers and swimmers. We were so comfortable in this condo, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Had to work a little while we were there, and found the WiFi works great! We snorkeled a bit in front of the condo, and found a vibrant, little marine community right out front. Having been to Bonaire several times, we found the diving to be easy and spectacular on the island!!! Although we did most of our diving near Georgetown, later found out that the East End has some of the best diving in the world, and will be returning to explore those sites. If you are going for the full Cayman experience and want a tranquil stay, this area is the place to be. This is a gorgeous, well-equipped unit with thoughtful, concerned owners who called us during our stay and were genuinely interested to hear our adventures and make sure we were having a good time. On the Bay is a quiet, family-friendly complex with all the amenities of home, and none of the crowds, even when the cruise ships are in port. The Foster's express recommended by Ernie and Virginia is well-stocked, and there is a Dunkin' Donuts and excellent gift shop next door to it. We enjoyed every minute there.

This condo retreat was wonderful...certainly better than the pictures! Our family of four adults found it very roomy and relaxing. In addition Virginia and Ernie were very responsive and even called us after we had arrived to see how we were doing. We followed several of their recommendations (Over the Edge restaurant, Morrit's beavch, grocery stores, etc.) and were happy with all of it. The condo unit was very quiet at this time of year - possibly only 3-4 condos in use. We were able to visit Sting Ray sandbar and do some diving - all departing from approx. 6 miles from the condo. Lovely!

3/13/10 We just came back from the Caymans and we loved this condo. The location is away from the crowds with lots of wonderful restaurants nearby. The condo is very spacious, clean and offers lots of privacy between the bedrooms. The beds were very comfortable and the sound of the water rocked us to sleep each night. Virginia, the owner, was great to work with and offered many wonderful insider tips. There is great snorkeling site a few minutes drive from the property that is easily accessible. There were very few other people on the property and all who were there were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this rental.

This condo is the perfect vacation spot. We were there for a week and I felt like it was our own private resort. It had a private pool and beach we usually had to ourselves. It was such a great location, close to everything but far enough away from the crowds. The place was spotless and had a perfect view of the ocean from the deck because it sits right on the beach. I would recommend this condo to everyone. It truly was the perfect place to enjoy the Cayman Islands.

This is a great spot for vacationimg. It's a beautiful condo. Good size bedrooms and a large kitchen. Lots of things to do. We rented a car which was good because we were on the quieter side of the island. Would definately go back to this unit again.

I just spent a week with some friends at this Condo. It was even prettier in person then in the pictures. The location was perfect. Close enough to everything we wanted to do, but far enough away to get away from the crowds. There were 5 of us and the condo was plenty big enough to accomodate us. Since there are only 12 condo's in total, many times we had the private beach and pool all to ourselves. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in visting the Grand Caymans. I would love to go back there again!!

My friends and I just spend a week here and had a great time. The accomodations are perect. A rental car is a must. Have map, will travel. We saw most of the island. The location is secluded but only minutes away from water sports and restuarants. Having a private pool and beach just a few feet away is a plus. I can't wait to go back again.

Our family recently spent two weeks on vacation at this retreat. It is truly the perfect island escape with everything you need -- spectacular view, sunsets, pristine beach with snorkeling, swimming and water sports right out the front door, quiet and private setting, spotless and spacious accommodations, private pool, access to great restaurants, the list goes on. We have stayed at many condos and resorts in Florida and the Caribbean, but this may be the best yet. It is a real gem!
