Beautiful setting, great space, wonderful experience!
All worked out well. 3 couples with bedrooms to accommodate all. All of the amenities were provided except wifi access - a little pricey if you need it. Unfortunately, we did. Not related to the rental but the ticks are bad in the summer of 2021.
This was our second stay here and we're booked again for this fall. This is a clean property with lots of trails and wildlife. Kitchen is well stocked with pretty much any utensil you need. Loved having sharp knives and a Cuisinart grill! Thank you for all you did to make us feel welcome!
Enjoyed my stay- the owner was very responsive, the property exactly as advertised. Great views. A good place for a group to gather
We had a lovely stay at Whitetail Waters! It was just as advertised, clean and with little things like paper towels, dish soap, hand soap etc included. The best part ended up being the so-so cell service (we didn't buy the wifi), it made our teens get off their phones and spend more time with us! :) Anybody with teens these days knows what a blessing that is. Truly had a wonderful time. Everything was very clean and we appreciated the attached garage to store our skis/poles/boots (we cross country skiied and downhill skied in the area). Also loved bringing our dog, she loved running around outside. Great communication with the property manager, no complaints at all. Thanks for a lovely stay!
This property is absolutely amazing with groomed trails, serenity and wildlife abundance surrounding you.it's definitely a place to go reflect about how blessed we are to be surrounded by Nature's glory. The fire pit was a winner the owner was extremely responsive. Well appointed and safe.
Awesome! Kitchen was well equipped with any size dish, pan or utensil needed. Bedding and towels were high quality. Couldn’t have asked for better accommodations for the six of us.
Beautiful well kept home out in the country. Lived waking up to the sounds of nature!
This property is located in a great location if you are looking to get away from it all. The property has a network of hiking trails for taking a stroll. Plenty of wild life around. The deck is comfortable and has a great view out over ponds and grasses and woods. The house is comfortable and well equipped. We think it would be ok for 6 people (we were just 4 on this trip) but might be a bit crowded for 8. We will book this place again for next year.
We stayed at this property to go waterfalling in Northern Wisconsin, this place was in a good location to do so. The place was nice to come back to each night but still get away from the daily grind.
The lovely peaceful rural surroundings are filled with amazing wildlife - deer, water birds, turkeys, - that you enjoy seeing alive.
This house served as the perfect getaway to enjoy nature in the Ashland area. We took full advantage of the 3 mile hikes around the property with our dogs and saw a lot of wildlife. The deck provided the perfect viewing platform. All amenities were excellent, including the grill and fully stocked kitchen. Thank you for sharing your retreat with us!
We had an excellent time. The cabin was perfect for 6 friends. It was in close proximity to the trail system and the heated garage was perfect for storing all our gear.
We particularly enjoyed the space on the upper level. We had our 17 month old grandson with us on this trip. When not in the yard, he loved roaming around island. The kitchen was well equipped, I appreciated the Keurig ! The location also allowed my 17 year old granddaughter to practice drive, needs time behind the wheel. It was perfect for day trips in the area. Staying a week, it seemed to be slower around some areas midweek. Thanks again for welcoming us into your home. The Schreuders
We very much enjoyed our trip up to the property in Ashland. The house is located on a great piece of land which was very quiet and allowed us to unplug and get away for a weekend. The house was very spacious and clean. The owners were very responsive to questions during the booking process and while we were there. I would highly recommend this property if you are looking for a quiet place with great atmosphere.
They property was well equipped with the essentials needed for camping. Location was located within a drive-able distance of Apostle Islands and Copper Falls State Park. Had a large group and we were able to pitch tents and enjoy the outdoors. Kahron was very fast at responding to questions about the place. Thank you
Whitetail Waters is very comfortable and definitely for those who like nature. Very relaxing few days there. Saw several deer and an interesting, but not identified raptor (flight pattern was sort of like that of a kite, but don't know if they're in that area). Very relaxing; enjoyed all the recliners for reading.
Clean and spacious home with all the amenities and nicely appointed. Enjoyed early morning coffee on the deck and watching wildlife and waterfowl. Great sunsets. The property trails are nice for taking a country stroll. Many sites to see in the area- Copper Falls, Bayfield and Ashland shopping, great restaurants, trout stream fishing, and even swimming in Lake Superior! Can’t wait to visit the area again.
Very peaceful and quiet location in the country surrounded by wetlands and farmland. about a 15 minute drive to Ashland. The home is large and comfortable with a well appointed kitchen, nice deck with gas grill overlooking the wetlands, lots of space in the common areas such as dining and living rooms, 3 bedrooms each with a full or queen beds, and 2 bathrooms. Very clean with plenty of towels, bedding, etc. Washer and dryer. Kahron was very responsive and helpful. We had a very nice stay. Our stay was late June, 2019 and the countryside was lush and green. I would stay again. We only had a group of 3 people but the home can easily and comfortably accommodate a larger group. Internet service is an extra charge at $20 per GB and it worked without issue. There were televisions in the living room and bedrooms but we did not turn them on so have no knowledge of signal quality or content.
Well equipped home. Close to Ashland. Beautiful property.
If you are looking to fall off the grid to recharge, I highly recommend Whitetail Waters. Even though it is very peaceful, my cell phone did work very well. This place is located just off a major highway, yet far enough you couldn't hear a thing. It is also on a dead end road so traffic was non existence for the most part. I stayed for a full month and saw less than 5 vehicles drive past.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It’s very quiet with no noise other than the wildlife. We did a number of day trips including kayaking- touring a number of waterfalls- going to Madeline Island. Plenty to keep us busy along with just sitting back an reading without any interruptions. Strongly recommend whitetail waters.
The home in the middle of a nature preserve was beautiful. However it was less than 10 minutes from Ashland and the Lake Superior waterfront. We had deer in the yard and am quite confident that we saw an eagle sitting on the same branch of the dead tree that is in the promotional photos. We had an enjoyable experience!
This was a very nice clean home to stay. It had everything a person needed. Very peaceful. The owners were very helpful with everything. It would have gotten 5 stars except for the mile of gravel road, we were on motorcycles otherwise that would have been fine also. We wish WI FI would have been included in the price as other places we have stayed it was included in the price. A hot tub would be great also. We would recommend this property .
Our family enjoyed staying here. Plenty of room with all the amenities provided. Pretty view. Close to town and copper falls state park.
This home has lots of room for entertaining and family activities. It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the outside views.
We enjoyed watching the swans, bull frogs, blue birds, deer and more from the house (great spotting scope from living room window). The house is modern, clean and well-appointed and the perfect place to come back to after a day of adventure: mountain bike riding the CAMBRA trails, kayaking sea caves, hiking at Copper Falls State Park, etc. We loved both the house and the area and hope to be back again!
Inside and out Whitetail invites it’s visitors to relax and tune into the birdsong, frog calls and wildlife wandering among the ponds beyond the decks! We found everything we needed for a lovely stay. The kitchen was spacious and well provisioned. The living-dining rooms were modern rustic with a wildlife decor as were the comfortable bedrooms. Outdoors a grill was provided on the large deck overlooking mowed walking trails around the wildlife ponds. We loved this place and found the owners to be very friendly, helpful and responsive! I would definitely recommend Whitetail to friends and family!
It was a really nice place, had everything we needed. Couldn't ask for much more, 1 Suggestion is we had 6 guys and even though there is ample space to sleep maybe add a hide a bed couch or 2. Otherwise it was fantastic.
We stayed three nights at the end of December '17 and had a lovely experience there. The house was very comfortable and had everything we could have wanted. There are trails in the woods behind the house that were fun to snowshoe in and on two occasions we saw a bald eagle sitting on a tall stump in the field. We weren't prepared for how insanely cold it is up north at this time of year and that was a problem, but of course that was no reflection on Whitetail Waters which was warm and comfy. We would definitely return here if we come back to this area in the future.
Not only was this a beautiful home to rent but the property outside of Ashland was amazing. The wildlife was abundant and we could relax in the peacefulness. It is only 10 minutes from town and the city of Ashland has so much to offer! The house was very well stocked altho we didn't cook a lot except to grill out for a gathering. The owners are so wonderful to work with and we will definitely come back if we need a 3 bedroom place! Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise.
Kahron was a pleasure to deal with prior to arriving. She sent us several emails with suggestions for attractions in the area that we expressed an interest in. She also texted us a few hours prior to arrival to make sure everything was set for us in the house. Upon arrival there was small container of jam waiting as a welcome gift along with a note. The house is located on a beautiful parcel of land with plenty of trails to explore. We ventured out through the trails on multiple occasions to take in the beautiful and peaceful setting. The layout of the house worked perfectly for us with 3 bedrooms and a family room downstairs and an open layout upstairs with the kitchen, dining and living rooms. Everyone said they had the best night's sleep they had in a while with the comfortable beds and serenity of the setting. The location made easy access to Ashland for supplies and was centralized to explore Bayfield and the Apostle Islands while also visiting Copper Falls State Park. In addition to the popular tourist sites, we also visited Houghton Falls and Potato Falls. Just north of Bayfield are several Orchards and wineries with a variety of fruits and baked goods available. It was always a pleasure to return to the cabin at the end of the day, especially being able to stand out on the deck and watch the starts fill the night sky. It's a unique opportunity that a lot of people don;t get the chance to experience anymore. Thank you for sharing your home with us
This home and setting are absolutely beautiful. The hard work and dedication to the property is so evident! The home has gourgeous with modern finishes, The bathrooms have the prettiest fixtures and hardware. Open concept, comfy furniture and beds. Quality sheets and towels. The kitchen is equipped to do any possible cooking you need. Location was perfect for our group, about 40 min to Bayfield where we kayaked and shopped dined. The owner is so nice too! Great communication. We accidentally left behind a few inexpensive items, Kahron and the cleaning crew were very diligent in finding them! Thank you! Would love to stay in winter to enjoy the massive fireplace.
Very relaxing! The home is immaculate and exceptional! Kahron and David think of everything! Can't wait to stay again!!
We had a great time at the cabin. It was clean and spacious. Saw amazing sunsets and lots of nature from the deck. would definitely recommend this cabin.
Enjoyed our stay, it was so nice to ski right out of the door. The owners were great to work with. The house was very comfortable.
Where to start, first of all the owners are wonderful! They kept us informed of getting the keys, working the water, sending pictures. They are wonderful to open their home to others and they are so easy to work with. Second, the place is gorgeous. Everything you need is in the kitchen. It is super clean, very well decorated and scenic. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area, I will definitely stay here again. Best vacation home I ever booked.
The house was very clean, warm in ambiance, and well equipped. We enjoyed walking the fields and seeing all the ducks and wildlife. This an excellent property to get away and get back with nature. Was surprised at how quiet it was at night and the view of stars off the large deck were phenomenal - we could even see the Milky Way. The best part of our stay was either sitting in the living areas or deck to view the wildlife. We even had a couple fawns in the yard in the early morning and evenings. I would definitely recommend staying here. Tom
We definitely enjoyed our time here. Very comfortable home, well-equipped kitchen, and very, very comfortable beds! We enjoyed walking and biking on the many trails that wind around the property. Although it's 8 miles to Ashland, it's a super easy drive. We would stay there again.
Lovely home. Fully stocked and ready for you to come enjoy your stay. Our family had a great time. Very comfortable stay with our two little girls. Kahron was very accommodating and helpful! Look forward to staying again.
The home was extremely comfortable for our group of 3 couples. Everything was clean & well maintained. 3 good sized bedrooms with lots of hooks & hangars for convenient unpacking. The 2 bathrooms are large & have a generous supply of towels & bathroom needs. The open-concept kitchen/dining/living area is comfortable & uncrowded. A large dining table as well as a kitchen island with many stools for casual dining. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the tools needed to feed a big group. There's a beautiful deck where we enjoyed our morning coffee & watched the birds. There were lots of problems with the surrounding roads due to torrential rains the previous week. We found our way to Copper Falls State Park, where we hiked & spent the afternoon at the beach on Loon Lake. The drive was longer due to the flooded-out roads, but we got there in about an hour. We also went to a concert at the Big Top Chautauqua, which was just a 45 min. drive. We went to Bayfield & took the ferry to Madeline Island for sightseeing & lunch. Our trip was filled with fun days. The house was perfect for our needs & located in a perfect spot for getting around to the wonderful activities offered in the area. We will go back there again!
All of us were very excited about staying at this property and were not disappointed. The view of the ponds was wonderful we even were able to see deer feeding by the ponds in the morning of our last day. There are mowed paths around the ponds for hiking, telescopes for bird watching and a beautiful deck to sit and watch the wildlife around us. The great room had large windows for viewing ponds and wildlife. The kitchen was fully equipped and we lacked for nothing. Kahron and Dave went out of their way to ensure that we were accommodated even when a terrible storm earlier in the week caused road closures in the area and threatened to keep us from coming up north for our weekend. We found many good restaurants and in area and we were only 30 minutes from Bayfield and the harbor. All of the roads are like brand new and the area is a great place for hiking and sightseeing. When I come up to the Apostle Islands again, I will definitely stay at this house again and would definitely recommend this house and our hosts to all my friends and family.
Very nice place out of the way from people. Lots of wildlife and only a few minutes from town. Didn't have to worry about anybody steeling anything. Loved it.
Super comfortable cabin in a wonderful wilderness setting. This sweet cabin had everything we needed including nice views from many window. Lots of wildlife and great sunsets off the deck. We enjoyed X-skiing and snowshoeing right out the back door, with many trails to play on. Great ice fishing and stream/lake fishing very close by. We had a fantastic stay in the winter and will definitely be back come summer!
My spouse and I spent a four day weekend at Whitetail Waters and plan to make this semi-annual trip; once in the winter and again in the summer. We live in the Twin Cities and needed a peaceful place to relax that was close to good restaurants and shopping (for me) and ice fishing and cross-country skiing for both of us. I travel extensively for my job and didn't want to stay in a hotel or have to board our dog. This is our first VRBO experience and it was amazing! Ashland is a quaint town that has a wonderful Chinese restaurant! The town is located on Chequamegon Bay which we followed in our car one day and ended up in Bayfield -gorgeous! From Bayfield you can take a ferry to Madeline Island which we plan to do this summer when we return. Bayfield is a shopper's paradise with so many unique shops and boutiques. We stopped by the Apostle Islands information center and learned about touring the islands. Another adventure awaits this summer as I have never kayaked but am convinced it is the best way to experience these beautiful islands. The owners refer to the lodging as a cabin -but it is truly a home with all of the modern amenities! A huge deck was the perfect spot to sip on wine and watch birds, deer and we even saw a fox! The fireplace kept us cozy at night and honestly we had a hard time leaving to return to the hustle and bustle at home. I hope my review is helpful for people wanting privacy, a glimpse at nature and so many options for day trips to Bayfield, the Apostle Islands and even Duluth which I learned is less than an 1-1/2 hours away.
My spouse and I have stayed at Whitetail Waters several times of the year but last fall was the best. The cabin is at the end of a gravel road. Ron did not know that and kept asking if we had arrived yet. When I told him it was the house on the left - he said that is not a cabin! . It is a beautiful house with a well groomed yard; from the deck you can enjoy the ducks swimming on the pond. That pond is one of many as you will discover when you take the RV trails. There are apple trees in the back which the deer love to sample and the grouse and other game are not far from the house. The house has a well equipped open kitchen which flows into the dining area and the living room which makes for easy entertaining. The main level is up from ground level so your view of the country side is breathtaking. You can grill on the deck , have a drink and watch the sun set. It is gorgeous. The bedrooms are downstairs, which also has a full bath and a laundry area. Go four wheeling, get dirty, shower and wash your clothes for the next day. It has all the amenities plus a feeling of seclusion and relaxation. Very good for relaxing and renewal of spirit. Plus you are not far from Ashland and all the area has to offer.
