I DO NOT LIST THIS CABIN ON CRIAGSLIST THERE ARE SCAMS GOING ON RIGHT NOW ON CRAIGSLIST. DO NOT BOOK THIS CABIN From anyone on Craiglsist. Located directly on a lake but in a country setting, it is only 10 minutes from downtown Madison Wisconsin, 20 minutes from the airport, and 2 hours from Chicago's O'Hare airport. Lake Waubesa is one of the four lakes in Madison, known as the best fishing lake. Barbecue and relax on the deck while being secluded from the wind! Enjoy fabulous morning sunrises over the lake.
The log cabin is located on the lake. One level ranch has 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed. The 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed with a full bed and twin bed on the top. There is a large living room with lake views. Enjoy eating at the table while looking at the lake. Everything you will need to make your stay complete is provided, from linens, towels, a washer and dryer and condiments in the pantry.
We have a kitchen that is fully equipped with cooking and service ware for up to eight guests as well as new appliances. Plenty of pots and pans, dishware, dishwasher, microwave, coffeepot, and toaster to make eating in easy.
There is an air conditioner and many ceiling fans for the summer and if you are staying in the winter we have heat throughout.
The boat launch is 2 minutes away. For our guests we have canoe. We just added a rustic 65 foot pier for our guests use(will be in the water from mid May to August). Most everyone just walks right in at the lake front to swim. The lake bottom is rocky and/or sandy.
Coming in for a UW game? Want to stay on the lake in a cabin instead of a hotel? We are a 12 minute drive to campus. Coming for IronMan Wisconsin? We are a 5 mile bike ride to the start. Stay in the comfort of a home vs a hotel.
Madison has been recognized as one of the premier places to live. The best farmers market in the US, outdoor music, free zoo, art fairs, and great restaurants are minutes away. We would love to share our city suggestions with you.
Beautiful setting with wonderful views of the lake. Nicole was great, responsive, and made sure everything was taken care of!!!
We had a lovely weekend at this lakeside home . The view of the lake and the outdoor patio was wonderful . Some of the amenities in the house could use some updates , but overall we had a comfortable stay.
We really enjoyed our time at this quaint cabin on the lake. Unfortunately we had rainy weather and could not enjoy the water but appreciated the comfy interior.
Overall enjoyable staying. Nice surroundings, close to Madison downtown is a plus
Everything you could want in a vacation rental. Indoors we're comfortable, with all the necessary ammenities (kitchen appliances, ac, w/d, wifi all in good working order), but outdoors really shined. Nice deck with table and chairs for outdoor eating. Canoe, paddle boards, and life jackets for easy water access. Fire pit and marshmallow skewers. A great package all around!
My family of four (with 2 small kids) had a great time at this house. Just right for such a size group. Bedrooms are a little small, but we used them just for sleep. The house is humble but comfy, newer kitchen and outside area. It has all the normal amenities, but the outside is nicest with the lake front view - especially at sunrise. Location is rural, but just 10 minute drive into Madison and convenient to most activities there.
This adorable cabin was in a perfect location right on the water and we enjoyed the amazing sunrises every morning and the gorgeous lake view right out the back door. The house was just the right size for my family and met all of our needs. We would definitely come back!!! Thank you!
In this summer of COVID we decided to take an extra week at a lake. We live about 30 minutes from the house and staying here allowed our kids to still go do their athletic activities while we enjoyed the lake. The house is very close to Madison and as many activities as you could want. The lake was warm and fun to play in. We really enjoyed being able to use the paddleboards at the house, playing games in the backyard, and sitting on the huge deck overlooking the lake! Great week.
We were extremely satisfied with our stay! Nicole was a dream to work with and answered all of our questions and checked in with us while we were there! We made several of our meals and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything we could need! I had forgotten to pack coffee and I was excited to see it in the cupboard in the morning! The view of the lake is spectacular and you can’t get much closer than the backyard! We will definitely stay here again if we’re in the area!
Everything a lake cabin should be, would recommend....
I liked everything very much! beautiful view, gorgeous evenings by the fire. Clean and bright house !!! I recommend to everyone. Thanks a lot Nicole
The house was really clean and property was really amazing right on the lake. I would like to return in the future.
Had a great stay! The property was amazing and the owners were responsive to any questions! Would absolutely recommend to others!
Nicole was great to deal with.
We stayed here over Christmas to visit family. Everything was great, clean, and the location is beautiful. (Don't miss the little restaurant/bar at the end of the street and definitely order the grilled walleye sandwich....may be the best fish this Florida native has ever had) It's an older house, and the bedrooms are tiny...like, the bed takes up the entire room, tiny, with maybe 18" to 2' on either side to walk around it...but it was perfect for us and we enjoyed it. The cabin is stocked with almost anything you could consider needing and we added some things ourselves for future tenants. The Queen bed is comfortable and the blankets and sheets are very good. We had a little problem with the batteries being dead on the door locks but a quick battery change fixed that. The only other downside was that I specifically looked for a cabin with a fireplace for Christmas, thinking we'd enjoy a cosy fire but the rules state you're not allowed to use it. So that was depressing but understandable and probably due to an insurance thing. This is a great place in winter, and I'm sure summer is even better.
Listing was just as posted and Nicole was very prompt to respond. We enjoyed morning walks and the sunrise, as well as watching the fishing boats and ducks go by. The fire pit was also a nice additive. Kitchen had all the supplies you need. We will be back again.
Stayed here while visiting our daughter at UW. Perfect little lake escape while still being close to campus.
This was exactly what we were looking for. Very lovely and relaxing to be right on the water, and the house was clean and welcoming. The host was very responsive and responded to my texts within 5 minutes. I would definitely stay there again.
Came down for the UW game. Easy Uber rides into town. Very peaceful place to hang out and relax before the game. Utilized the lake for paddle boarding and swimming.
We loved this cabin. Great spot with plenty of toys and activities :)
Renting this property was a great way for us out-of-staters to move one kid into college while having a mini-vacation in the process. The drive to the UW Madison campus is a breeze. You can relax lakeside instead of dealing with the hassles of parking and traffic at a hotel. Walking distance from a great bar/restaurant. We did not swim in the lake but enjoyed all our mornings on the dock and patio. The house is not new but has all the required amenities. The owner was extremely responsive to any requests. Only recommendation would be to put in some shades as the morning light is dazzling. But that was somewhat of a plus, as we were awakened each morning to a beautiful sunrise. Thanks for a fun stay.
Good clean process
We were looking to get away somewhere peaceful for a few nights with the kids and this property fit the bill perfectly! The cabin actually exceeded our expectations from some of the reviews. It is charming, cozy, with nice furniture and linens. The kids loved the room with bunk beds. We didn't do any cooking, but the kitchen has everything one needs to cook, and there are also some helpful condiments in the fridge as well as essentials in the cupboards. The kids loved taking the canoe out, and the paddle boards were a nice addition. One thing to be aware of, and the owner did let us know, is that there are algae and mussels around the dock and so swim shoes are key. Lastly, the location is great because it feels remote, but it's not far from downtown Madison. There are also lots of walking and biking trails nearby. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back!
The cottage was really chill. Bring or rent a boat if you can. The drive to Madison is super fast and we were able to enjoy the zoo, State St, the Capital, breweries, and ice cream parlors with ease. Great getaway.
The cabin is very comfortable and the locations is peaceful and the view is really, really nice.. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. There was also dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher tablets, trash bags, plenty of paper towels and toilet paper. The towels were very good quality and plenty of them. The bunk beds had good and cute linens. The queen bed had linens that were cute, but felt like they were not cotton, and they felt hot. Even though there was a heat wave the we were there, the window AC unitarily cooled off the whole cabin. We loved being able to use paddle boards. The furniture outside was comfortable. The water in the lake was full of plants and did not look inviting for swimming, but farther from the shore, it was better. Nicole was one of the best hosts we've ever had--she responded immediately to any questions we had. We would highly recommend this place.
Great location, love the cabin. Not posh but very homey.
The pictures do a little too much justice. The house needs a little TLC. My first impression of the house wasn't the best, but I will say that the house did grow on me and I realized that the house just needs a little more maintenance. Door knob kept falling off, a lot of bird poop on the grass, house could use a paint job.. Nothing major. I did enjoy the locale though.
This is a cabin, not a lake house. It has the look, feel and smell of a cabin. Unfortunately for us, the weather did not cooperate but this would be a great place to hang out on the lake. We loved the drive from Madison to the cabin, you were so close to Madison, but felt like you were much further away.
The owner Nicole was quick to respond to my questions. It was well stocked with all the essentials needed. Reasonably priced. Pub and Grill within easy walking distance.
Great location and close enough to everything, including downtown Madison, and yet still felt like you could get away from it all. The house was cozy and relaxing. Nicole was great to work with!
We had a great time and enjoyed the cottage. I was so excited to be able to bring our Goldendoodle, Lacey Marie to meet family. She loved the Cottage. We look forward to staying here again soon.
Have stayed several times, and each time the cozy cabin does not disappoint. Not posh, but a good solid quiet place to relax and enjoy the lake
I would highly recommend to anyone who needs a place to stay in Madison, WI. Steps away from Lake Waubesa and a short drive to downtown, it is a perfect location. Perfect cabin where I will stay the next time I visit!
We enjoyed our stay! Lake Waubesa is gorgeous, and this property is the perfect place to soak it in. It couldn't be closer to the water, and with the dock it provides it's own lake access! My husband and I cooked most of our meals and the kitchen was stocked with all the utensils, cookware, and dishware that we needed. The bathroom was fully stocked, and the place was clean when we arrived. The WiFi worked, which is always a plus! The cabin is a short walk away from Christy's, a great restaurant and bar where we enjoyed spending our evenings. It's also a quick 15 minute drive from downtown Madison, where we found everything that we wanted or needed. The whole process was completely hassle-free. Seriously, no complaints from us at all! We will be returning!
Easy to get to and not far from downtown Madison. We went to the UW football game and were a 10 minute drive to the stadium and Monroe St. Loved the fully stocked kitchen and comfortable family room. Kids loved the bunk beds. We will be back- hopefully in the summer to enjoy the lake
Great location, close to Madison, yet quiet, private and peaceful! Clean and well stocked with any amenities you might need. Nicole was a pleasure to work with as this was my first experience staying in a VRBO and she answered any and all questions. As our daughter lives in Madison, we definitely look forward to staying here again.
Nice cottage with many amenities. Nice scenic view over the lake.
This property in is need of a lot of work. From outside to inside it’s clear not a lot of time or money has been spent on upkeep. The house has a musty odor throughout. Along with this, every corner of every room were covered with spider & cob webs and the carpet was filthy. One of the couches is completely worn out to where you almost are sitting on the floor when you sit on it. The bathroom is disgusting - we purchased cleaning supplies just to make it usable for our stay. The refrigerator was not cleaned out and had remaining perishables from previous renters. To top it off there were noticeable mouse droppings in some of the kitchen cabinets along with the bathroom closet. The backyard is a storage area for old unusable boats & boat lifts. Landscaping is minimal and mostly overgrown with weeds. The “rustic” pier is just plain rusty and needs to be replaced as it was unusable during this trip. This was partially due to the water levels being high, however it appeared to be a very un-safe dock regardless. It is disturbing to know the amount of money I paid to stay at this property for what we got. Our family has rented lake homes in the past and this one is by far the worst!
We stayed for a couple of days before our kids went back to school and the whole family loved being on the water. Our host was great, very responsive to messages, and we had everything we needed. We would come back for sure, cheers!
Clean nice set-up, they thought of everything. Very nice to deal with, too. Were looking forward to coming back.
This cabin is located in a great neighborhood directly on a great Madison lake! These lakes have never been know to be clear or the best swimming lakes but it is enjoyable to have the experience of taking your boat from lake to lake and going through the Lock entering lake Mendota to stop at The Memorial Union for food and ice cream right next to where you will park your boat! It’s also a runner or cyclists dream stay to be able to run or bike along the lakes and go over the new boardwalk on Waubesa that you pick up from the camping area entrance on the northwest side of the lake. You can also take the capital bike trail around lake monona and back. Would be a perfect location for Ironman participants or even Madison marathon! We enjoyed the quaint cabin. It had everything we needed while we were taking a break from outside. Our boys really liked Netflix and catching some frogs and toads just added to their experience! We docked our boat on the pier ( with our bumpers- bring your own if you have them) and Nicole was so accommodating! We hope to stay again when we are in town!thank you for sharing your wonderful place!
It was a nice quaint cabin. The view was great.
A great place to enjoy the lake front. Clean, well-stocked and peaceful. Not fancy, but a wonderful place to relax.
Our kids love to play on the frozen lake- We brought ice skates(it's challenging with all the bumps) and a sled and had a great time in the yard and on the lake. We saw a lot of ice fishermen as well. Low key location but close to Madison to get food or go shopping. We also enjoyed skiing at Devil’s head about 45 minutes away.
Awesome view! Love the lake view bar! Great kitchen... Well stocked! main bedroom bed was very comfy! Only real Issue was comfort of bunk bed mattresses for adults.. Thanks!
Beautiful lake view and fall colors can’t be beat!
We had a wonderful stay at this cottage! The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable and the living room area was spacious. While we were not able to access the lake due to time of the year, it was lovely to look out at the lake during the day and to see the beautiful sunrises in the morning. It was fun to sit at the long bar facing the lake to have lunch and watch the birds. My family very much enjoyed our stay!
Stayed here while in town for an Epic conference. Great location to downtown Madison, Airport and Epic. Great alternative to a hotel stay and much more reasonable. Would stay here again!!!
Location near but not in Madison was perfect. Lake side on quiet street. Could not have been nicer. Fully equipped cabin with nice deck.
Coffee out on the pier, bonfires at night. Very clean, close to zoo and campus.
Had a great weekend boating, grilling and sitting by the bonfire.
Lake Waubesa house was very comfortable. Kitchen well equipped, laundry facilities, touch pad lock very convenient. The deck and view were outstanding. Partial shade almost all day so we spent most of the time outside. Lake is very quiet. Proximity to Madison was great.
Right on the lake and close to town. This is our 3rd year here. Will be coming back again.
I would definitely recommend this property and would book it again in the future. I am a "city girl" myself so I enjoyed the fact that it was close enough to Madison to be able to easily run into town yet still in a wonderful peaceful location on the lake. Appreciated the fully equipped kitchen, extras like life jackets, beach towels, etc. Appliances very nice. The only reasons I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that the second bedroom with the bunkbed -- double on bottom, single on top isn't really fit for a couple on the bottom... Mattress very poor for two adults. (we stayed there with my parents so needed both doubles). One child would sleep well there though. Also, the dock doesn't have bumpers to protect a boat from banging against it.
We had a wonderful time! Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived. We lived sitting out on the deck in the sunshine watching the boats go by. Highly recommend!
I was planning a girls getaway weekend and this cabin was perfect. The cabin was clean, organized, and the amenities were spot on. Nearly everything you could need is provided. The majority of our time was spent on the back deck and pier overlooking the lake. The BBQ grill on the deck worked perfectly and served our dinner needs. The addition of a fire pit made for lovely evenings. Everything was just beautifully taken care of and the area was wonderfully peaceful. Nicole was very helpful and responsive to emails. She was a great host. I would definitely recommend this cabin for your next trip.
Our family of four adults just returned from staying at Nicole's Lake Waubesa cabin. The cabin is very comfortable with an amazing view of the lake. We were there to go to the Wisconsin Badgers vs Ohio State game. The location was perfect. We were able to get Uber to pick us up with no issues. Nicole was extremely accommodating in helping us figure out the TV, and heater when we had questions. She called us back promptly and also gave us advice on local eateries. We weren't there long enough to enjoy the nice deck and yard area. The living area is quite large and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to come back to this cozy cabin. Thank you Nicole for your hospitality.
This was exactly what we were looking for. A charming cabin on the lake. Would like to go back in the summer!
This rental was very comfortable. The view of the lake was gorgeous. The house had everything we could have asked for, and it was very easy to get everywhere we needed to be in Madison. I would happily stay here again if I my plans were similar.
Get the best of 2 worlds. Quiet, peaceful lake near Madison where you can partake of city attractions and then retreat to a restful paradise. The lake is merely steps away from the cottage so a quick dip in the water can be just that - a quick dip in the water. The cottage itself is quaint, with all the modern amenities. Plenty of attractions, restaurants, and things to see in Madison only 15 min. away. We've vacationed here 2 years in a row, and will happily return again in the future. We love feeling like we've come a long way for our vacation because of how remote the lake feels from our home, but it's actually only 2 hours away from the Chicago suburbs.
We enjoyed the lake cabin a great deal. It was clean and comfortable. The temperature outdoors was quite warm but the house cooled nicely with the AC. We took advantage of the grill as well as the canoe. It was very close to downtown Madison and to the University, only 15 minutes. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.
Our stay at this cozy cabin was excellent. Nicole communicated everything very clear so make sure that our stay was as comfortable as could be. If we make it back up North again, we'll definitely be staying here. Beautiful view of the water. Loved being able to watch the sun rise from the living room, or the deck.
We came in on Wed and stayed until today. It was quiet and in a nice area close to it all but yet tucked away. The house was perfect for the 4 of us. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property to anyone staying in the Madison area that want's to be close but away from the hustle and bustle. Thanks for a relaxing time.
Coming off a bad experience in Minneapolis last summer, I was uncertain about trying again with this sort of accommodation option. However, from start to finish I had a very good experience with Nicole and with this comfortable Lake Waubesa cabin. It was very clean and cozy. I had my two sons (9 and 13) with me, as well as a standard poodle and my husband joined us for part of the time. There was more than enough room for the four of us plus the dog. I found that the kitchen was better stocked than I had expected, with plenty of pots, pans, knives, etc. Also the cupboards were well stocked with salt and spices and cooking oil and things like that. We had a dinner party and were well supplied with everything we needed. The grill and patio area were lovely. Also, outside there is a shed that had inflatable rafts, and life jackets, as well as other outdoor stuff. My kids took out the canoe and paddled around a bit. The lake itself is very pretty, and the location in proximity to Madison was perfect for us. We had one mishap with a broken door knob and Nicole had a person out to fix it right away. I also especially appreciated the super deluxe washer and dryer. The only reasons I haven't given it five stars: The windows in the bedroom wouldn't open and it was kind of hot and stuffy in there, even on cool nights. The bedroom is tiny, such that there's not a way to have a lamp or side table. (One idea for a solution would be to install a headboard with a shelf behind it so you'd have a place to put your glasses, book, a clock, etc.) Also, to me five stars implies it's fancy, which it isn't. This isn't a place with Egyptian cotton linens and luxury spa toiletries. The linens are actually kind of low end, and the furnishings show some wear and tear. For me, this made it seem more homey. Sometimes in a place that's too fancy I spend all the time worrying my kids will spill something. This is a clean, simple cottage in a pretty location. It's well run and you get the sense it's well loved. If that's the sort of thing you're looking for, I would highly recommend it.
We had a long weekend at Nicole's cottage and hated to leave! The cottage is the ideal Wisconsin getaway. The lake was beautiful, water was very clear, and the deck and pier were perfect for relaxing . We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the home, the grill and all updating making a wooded getaway really comfortable and relaxing. Supplies were high quality and all kitchenware was like being at home. I can highly recommend Nicole's cottage for a quality destination. Crystal W
This is a true 'Up North' cabin without leaving Dane County! The living area is huge with plenty of space for games and lounging, it 'lives' bigger than the pictures, the chairs and ledge along the lake window were perfect for coffee and sneaking in some work before everyone woke up. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the cooking pieces we needed and the laundry room was fabulous. A huge bonus was the swim towels in the cabinet - thank you! The beds and bedding were wonderful and we had a marvelous family stay. All the appliances, water pressure etc is new and fully modern but is it sill a real cabin and not a tear-down-rebuild-new-house - we loved it!! We walked up to Christie's for walleye and volleyball, the kids also found several Pokeman there too! Nicole is very attentive and loves the property as much as we did!
Our family of four had a nice stay, really enjoyed the lake view, canoe, fire pit, patio, BBQ, residential street to walk/run on, and proximity to town. Drawbacks were that we didn't swim there, our oldest is only four and wanted to wade in water but it was too steep, rocky, mossy at shoreline. I'm sure older kids can swim easily at end of dock in the deeper cleaner water. Also, coffee pot took over 2 hrs to brew a pot of coffee but this can be easily replaced. Would certainly recommend and may stay there again.
Due to the layout of the home, it "makes" the family come together. Priceless. The home is small but functional. Master bedroom is somewhat tight but the bed is very comfortable and I am a harsh critic of uncomfortable beds i.e. hard or saggy beds as sleep is a precious commodity while on vacation. (Sounds like Goldilocks and the 3 bears). The room darkening shades are great as it bright is the eastern exposure. 2nd bedroom (faces west) small but comfortable sleeps 3 and again, bed was very comfortable. Brand new washer/dryer. Kitchen has new appliances plus garbage disposal. Plenty of seating either at kitchen table (seats 4), counter stools in kitchen (seats 2), or at the large table/counter overlooking the lake and I must say, it is a very pretty lake to look at - very peaceful. Gathering room has lots of windows - great - great unobstructed view of lake which is about 15 paces from house! Because of all the windows and sun rise view I did wish for the option to pull some shades in case someone had slept on the couch. Large flat screen above fireplace (non-functioning). This area is where the only a window air conditioning unit is located but there are several fans to keep the air moving. Deck is nice sized and great for having morning coffee while watching all the fishing boats. Fire pit with plenty of wood to be found. LOVED that we had use of canoe, life vests, and more. Much appreciated for anyone who wanted to fish or just sight see from the water. We rented a pontoon boat in the area and had a great time as well. Parking for a few vehicles. Great infrared grill with full tank. Must mention to people who are not use to the country: Please secure the garbage can lids as the raccoons love your garbage. If you ride bicycles - this location is for you! Large park with dog area nearby. Home has lots of extras. I do wish it was easier to walk out into lake (for the kids or dogs) but small "sea wall" makes it a little tricky. No biggie. A must visit for breakfast - the Squirrel's Nest in McFarlane. Walleye and eggs for breakfast? Um, ok! "When in Rome...." lol - For everyone else, there's eggs, hash browns, and Rum Chata french toast to die for. Hang out with the locals...great people. Nicole was a pleasure and provided a quick security deposit refund. The entire process was seamless from beginning to end. We would definitely recommend as the family reconnected (husband/wife, 15, 17 year old and visiting 32, and 17 year-old)
Overall we have no real complaints. However the coffee pot needs to be replaced. Or maybe just cleaned properly . Beautiful peaceful spot on Lake Waubesa!
Nice, older property. Comfortable and plentiful seating in living area, new appliances in kitchen, gorgeous view of the lake. This property is really just steps from the water. The house was very well stocked - much more so than many other houses we have rented - trash bags, dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper, etc. were plentiful. Lots of dishes/pans/utensils. Easy drive into Madison. The only negative was that the bedrooms were really small - there wasn't room for a nightstand beside the bed, so there was no bedside lamp and nowhere to put my glasses so that I could reach them before I got out of bed. I would definitely stay here again - I would love to come back when the weather is warmer!
The setting was so much fun, however the outside of the cabin had issues- the dock was laying by the side of the property and that was fine, but there was paper, wood, and other messy items strewn everywhere so it looked like it was tended well. I actually cleaned up some of the pieces of wood and moved items over by the canoe so that it looked cleaner and more appropriate. After that I loved the view, and we really enjoyed the porch. The porch door has blown open and bent, so we could not close it. The inside of the cabin was very clean and cute. We just weren't used to the sound of the water base board heating, so it kept us up at night. It isn't anything that can be changed, but it would prevent us from renting it again since you want a good night sleep when you travel. We had a great time, but since you are asking about our impression for a 2nd time, I thought I would let you know. Thanks, Lyn
It was nice to walk into the warm property. Enjoyed the waterfront views and location. It was nice to be able to take our dogs with us.
Lovely, quiet house with easy access to lake. Nicole was more than helpful and in contact with us with any questions or concerns. Very easy to get into Madison if you wish. Would definitely go back!
This is an older home with wear and tear, but it was cozy. Nice windows across the back to the lake. This house is very close to the lake so nice view. Nice deck but there is about a 3 ft. narrow walkway from the back door to the deck with no arm rails. You have to be very careful, because you're natural tendency is to look at the deck, not directly at your feet. The fall is about 18 inches or more. Unfortunately, the house hadn't been completely cleaned when we arrived in the evening, and we had to do bedding and bath. The carpet has lots of soiled spots. The out of state owner was very gracious about the cleaning issue and offered to reduce the cleaning fee. She was also very helpful with locating grocery stores and eating places near by. Especially fun was the small bar and grill within a block or so. We will probably stay again. I imagine the cleaning issue was an over site. Because it looked like it had been started.
I would recommed this property
My wife, myself and our 4 kids stayed in the cabin for 3 days from 9/7/15-9/10/15 and had an AMAZING TIME! It was very clean and well kept. We swam, water skied, fished, jet skied, and went to kids museum downtown! We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay for anyone and hope to get back soon! The owners were really friendly and accomedating also. Thank you!
Instead of getting a hotel room for 3 nights while moving our son in to a new home at UW Madison we decided to extend and make a mini vacation and found this great cabin on the lake. You will find everything you need for cooking, playing games, canoeing, grilling, etc. You feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere however its only a 10 minute ride to UW Madison. UBER even picked us up out here for a night out on State Street and the Terrace! We would definitely recommend and will be going back.
Our family rented this cabin for a short three day visit. It's a comfortable cabin with all the amenities needed for cooking and grilling and it feels remote despite being only 15 minutes from downtown Madison. The view from the living room is very nice and there is a large deck and lawn with a firepit that also faces the water. Our only disappointment was that Lake Waubesa had a bloom of toxic algae and was closed for swimming. If you're traveling with kids that are hoping to swim, check the condition of the lake. It's worth noting that the two other large lakes in that area (Mendota and Monona) were not having any algae trouble and are close (so other beaches and boat rental areas are only a short drive.)
This is a very nice place and very well maintained! Nicole is awesome to deal with! Would definitely stay there again. Sunrise and sunset are beautiful...Christy's is a nice touch. It is a very calm and peaceful lake....unlike any I've been to. Read a lot and relaxed! Will go back!
This is a great place to stay. Comfortable beds, full stocked kitchen, large living room, peaceful deck, and a fire pit for those evening campfires. The owner provides you with information about activities near by. The only reason we gave it a 4 star is because the boat lift was in rough shape.
Lovely cottage very close to the lake! Just walk outside the door and walk a few feet and you're there! Had lots of fun splashing around, and there's even a tree that hangs over the water that you can float under if you need to get out of the sun. Madison is a great town. Ate at Brasserie V twice. Area is beautiful with scenic hills and wide-open spaces. My husband enjoyed bicycling around both on the road and bike paths for his daily exercise. He was concerned that the hills might be too high for him coming from flat Illinois, but they were not. Will be coming back!
We found the place quite charming. It was well equipped and there were wonderful views of the lake from inside and the deck outside. The lakeshore at the cottage contained a lot of blue-green algae so swimming was not an option. We checked the swimming area at a nearby park and found the algae there also. We did not do any boating but saw many people out on the lake, so I'm guessing that swimming away from shore is OK.
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in the Madison area without worrying about what to bring- look no further. Fully stocked kitchen, bedrooms are nice sized, awesome back deck with a big fire pit area. Nice dock that you can fish off of. Our group stayed to fish the lake and get away. Great choice. We drove to Christy's Landing a few nights, great food and drink specials and very friendly staff. The cabin owner is very responsive and is committed to your satisfaction. Highly recommend!
Thanks to the awesome owners for letting a few of stay and spend our winter days on Waubesa. Great cabin with a great view of the sun rise over the water. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a place to stay!
A nice comfortable place with everything a family needs for an enjoyable stay. Not fancy, which I prefer, but very clean. Comfortable beds. Good kitchen. Perfect location.
This cottage has fabulous outdoor spaces including lakefront, fire pit, gas grill and deck with table/chairs. Sunrises over the lake are stunning. The inside is a work in progress, with a classic cottage feel. It is clean. The kitchen has good appliances and is one of the best stocked kitchens in a rental I've seen. Included spices/oils/snacks, which helps if you want to cook on short trips. Nicole was a pleasure to deal with and provided some good insider tips for going to the Farmer's Market. We would rent here again if staying in Madison.
Thank you for a very comfortable stay at your lake cottage. The place is set up for a family with young children, and our 3 yr old daughter enjoyed playing with the toys, games and puzzles as well as out in the yard and by the lake. It was a nice place for us to have dinners and relax at night, and still be able to enjoy Madison and our friends in the area, especially after a long day of travel from San Francisco and before a long drive to Minocqua for the family wedding. Thank you!!
Very cozy small home with comfy couches, chairs, games, well-stocked kitchen utensils, and life jackets/paddle for canoeing right out the back door. Heat worked perfectly for early fall chilly evening/mornings. Gorgeous sunrises & sunsets on the lake. Great windows for viewing over the lake (it was too chilly to sit on the outside deck). Nice neighborhood with bar & decent bar food within a 10 minute walk. Owner was extremely helpful with my many questions as a 1st-time renter, and provided suggestions for area activities and food. Clear and detailed instructions were easy to follow. Very satisfied & would stay again!
We had a great time and will definitely be back again when it's warm enough to jump off that pier! Thanks!
This was a great place to stay. The homeowner was great to work with and provided a lot of information of things to do around the cabin. The cabin was filled with a lot of ammenities that I have not found that other places I have stayed at were provided. The cabin comes with great views. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away for a weekend.
I stayed there over a weekend with group of friends from Chicago. It is right on Lake Waubesa, with inviting back porch and fire pit area by the water. The house itself is well laid out, with a large living room providing a nice place for everyone to hang out. Appliance also seemed new, and kitchen is equipped with double sink and powerful dishwasher that made cooking and cleaning easy. House is also clean and well-maintained, with AC and fans keeping the place plenty comfortable through hot and humid days. There's space to park two cars easily, and Walmart is within 5 minute drive if you forget something. We drove out to downtown Madison one night, and it was also a convenient quick trip as well. Also, another big plus was that reservation process being painless and smooth. Most of the necessary information was right at our fingertips, and Nicole was friendly, informative and helpful. I booked this place somewhat last minute but there were no problems at all. There was another place that practically interviewed me via phone and made me feel judged because not all of us were married with children, but that was not the case at all with Nicole. Overall I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick lakefront getaway without wanting to wander far off the grid or having to prepare everything ahead of time.
We stayed here for a total of 4 nights with our 2 children as well as another family and their young son. Between the living room and nice sized yard, we had plenty of room to play and run around. We made good use of the kitchen, grill, deck, campfire, canoe and dock, all of which was well stocked and prepped for our use. They had thought of everything so we were able to sit back and relax. The location is just far enough out of town that we felt secluded yet close enough that we could easily travel into town and see all the sights that Madison has to offer. We greatly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to coming back again and again!
We loved staying here. The location is ideal. Secluded with a wooded lot on one side and only a few other homes along this section of the lake. Sunrise views and a short walk to Christy's bar and grill. The cabin has two small bedrooms and new appliances in a small kitchen (with a breakfast island). Large deck facing the lake and a small section of dock in case you want to fish from shore. Classic cottage feel.
