Parking notes: There is free parking available for 6 vehicles.
Dock details: Yes, the creek is tidal.
At low tide, there is approximately 3-5 feet of water at the end of the dock. That said, the creek has several oyster beds that are only visible at low tide, so if the person is putting the boat in at Salzburg Landing - the public ramp that is about 1.2 miles from the house - they should consider putting in at low tide the first time so that they can see the beds.
Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

This rental is remote, but that is what we loved about it. The views were spectacular and we saw an abundance of wildlife every day. It was so tranquil there, we were truly able to fully relax and unwind. The cabin is a bit rustic, and could use some TLC, but we found everything to be clean, well stocked and very comfortable. The only negatives were that the internet was not adequate for my husband to work remotely and the yard was in desperate need of mowing.
I love how secluded this home is. I didn't mind the long sandy roads and had no trouble driving on them. I had saw a previous review that made me worry just a little bit about whether I could get my little car down them but, I had no trouble at all. Will definitely try to book it again in the future for another family vacation.
Someone needs to investigate these places before they are listed. When we arrived at the location there were 2 dogs on the premises. Trash scattered underneath the house. My husband is allergic to dogs. Upon entry you can smell the stench of dog urine and smoke Carpets filthy revealed that several pet accidents occurred. We walked back out. Was told that we would be placed in a new place, but no one called back. Additionally the location is very secluded. We drove several miles on dirt road a few miles to property. Horrible conditions over-all. Do not waste your time or money. I haven't heard back from the property management. I called them twice and sent email
I enjoyed my visit here. Perfect for my needs. I would repair the hole in the deck next to the grill before someone steps through it and gets seriously injured. Also, the water pressure is highly irregular, so something needs fixing there.
Location was great, quiet and private. Setup was good for our needs . The two baths were some what of a challenge due to the low water preasure . We could only use one water faucet at a time, just be aware of that . Overall it was good for us as a weekend getaway.
There were many great aspects to this property. It’s rustic older cabin feel is nice but could use a little tlc. We did fishing, camp fires, kayaks, crabs… it’s salt water with a tide. No swimming! There are small sharks and a strong current at times. Our main thing was that it was just Soo much driving and when it says suv, it’s more like truck or sport suv. The 10-15 min drive down the dirt causeways are tough! Then you still have at least 30 min to get to a city or destination. Since we’d driven a long way that made it hard. Maybe for others it’d be easy. It was hard on my vehicle though. Definitely a beautiful, peaceful place. The area does controlled forest fires that smoked us out a couple days with ash. Not something the property manager would probably know but was unbearable at times. There was no good way to contact the company. I never got responses from my messages. It was just pre-populated texts for ratings and a “check out” That you left. Very different from other vrbos. I’d go back for a weekend with adults that didn’t mind the driving. Teens just get really tired of being on the car for an hour just to go to town.
Perfect house to unwind in nature while close enough to visit Hilton Head, Beaufort, Savannah and Charleston! The setting was gorgeous, set on the tidal marsh and surrounded by huge live oaks dripping with moss. Great deck and dock to enjoy the moving tides, beautiful wildlife, the sunrise and sunset… and the occasional shooting star. The house is rustic and remote including the long dirt road to access, which added to the experience. The house could use some TLC as it was a bit dated. The amenities were great and had everything we needed for meal prep, laundry, etc.- plus a generous supply of toiletries and kitchen basics. We loved our stay at Coles Island.
The property and views are spectacular. Very remote and private. This is a property for anyone wanting to get away from everything except natural beauty. The house is rustic. Expect a cabin in the woods feel rather than a modern home. Our only complaint would be the lack a kayak launch. A shore launch is possible at very high tide, but you must get back out before the tide drops much. The bank is extremely steep and muddy at low tide. We hauled kayaks to Salzburg, but the creek by the house is much nicer. A kayak dock makes a wonderful stay perfect.
This was our second stay on Cole’s Island. The property is magical, great fishing off the pier, boat ramp is easily accessible. Dog friendly, perfect porch for family and dogs. Porch safely secure for any size dog with secure gate. House nice, clean, cozy, accommodating. Huge yard, dogs can run and play freely. Can’t wait till next year!!
We needed a last minute reservation for family coming Ridgeland for a funeral. Found this gem just 15 minutes from town. While the road to the property can be a bit intimidating for some city folk, the site of the property once you get to the clearing is amazing. They provide amenities to accommodate all of the comforts of home and the convenience store near by is great as well. The home was very clean, all things considered, there will be spiders and other insects in the woods. The view from the Great Room and wrap around porch are stunning. City folk, if you are looking for an off the beaten path getaway, this place is amazing. Experienced campers and fisherman, you couldn't ask for a better place.
This is the only place we rent. The property is beautiful and right on the inlet. It is so quiet and peaceful. If you love to fish and you need peace and quiet this is the place to be. We have been 5 years in a row and we always book a year in advance.
It was an amazing time. We will return to the SC lowcountry!!
Great house with private dock. The host was available and quick to answer any questions.
