We had a wonderful time at the cabin. It’s very cozy and private, perfect place to recharge.
We came up for the week of Christmas and couldn’t of asked for anything better. Our family loved everything about the cabin and property. It was a perfect Christmas and we even got the snow we hoped for. Thank you Mary!
This was a seamless rental experience!
What a wonderful place this is. My husband and I were celebrating his 62nd birthday during the pandemic. Where to go? How to mark it? I stumbled across Mary's place on VRBO, and we feel so lucky to have found it. It is private, large, has a great kitchen, and a very comfortable king sized bed. Dogs are welcome. There is a large fenced garden area to wander about in, and hikes, short and long, right outside the door, and yet it's not far from Hailey and Ketchum. Mary went more than an extra mile to secure our reservation when we ran into some problems with VRBO, and an onsite friend of hers greeted us and showed us the place when we arrived. We are so grateful to have had this weekend that felt safe and exotic at the same time.
We loved the cabin. Stayed 5 nights and everything was well stocked and cabin was comfortable. Yard and stream were great...Location was peaceful. Great hosts. 🙂
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin sits in a beautiful setting to relax. In the night, we sat in the backyard for stargazing .... we saw Saturn, Jupiter, and the Milky Way!!! Our dog also enjoyed the place very much... running around the fenced-in backyard, and taking a long walk without the leash. We also enjoyed the cabin with lots of memorabilia letting us learn the cabin’s history. Thank you for allowing to stay such a wonderful place.
We loved our stay at the cabin. The setting is so peaceful and relaxing. The owner and the caretakers were extremely helpful, considerate, and very pleasant to work with. We can't wait to come back.
We had a lovely stay. The cabin is welcoming and comfortable and the location is spectacular. Both the owner and caretaker were very responsive, friendly and helpful. Just wish we had more time!
This was the most incredible place to stay. Our family had one of our most magical Christmas ever. This place was beautiful and peaceful. It was so much fun to ski from the cabin and to come back and sit in front the fire. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. I hope to stay here again soon. Our entire family thanks them for making our experience so wonderful.
This is a fabulous home, and very warm, comfortable, lots of amenities, clean. The surrounding hills are quiet and full of wonderful sage brush. We skied right outside the door, walked the dogs and explored the beautiful hillsides. Highly recommended.
Red Elephant Ranch is a magical place. From the moment we arrived we and our two labs never wanted to leave. Mary was wonderful to chat with throughout our stay, checking on our well being and any needs. The Ranch is a quiet retreat you never need to leave or just 20 minutes away you can see a movie, fly fish, mountain bike and dine at a variety of superb restaurants in Hailey. Venture further to Ketchum for concerts in the park, Bald Mt and more restaurants. Even further there's Galena Lodge, Redfish Lake sunset cruises, white water rafting in Stanley and more fly fishing. Don't miss out on such an extraordinary experience.
Our family has stayed at many summer rental properties over the years. The Red Elephant Ranch is hands down our favorite location. The true Idaho experience that you have when staying in this rustic cabin is a one of a kind experience. The owner Mary is very accommodating. We have stayed at this property for the last three summers, the kids loved the brook that runs through the property and all the wildlife that they had seen during our stay. If you want to get away from it all yet be close to town, this is the place to stay.
My husband and I , and our two dogs, had the most peaceful, nature oriented stay at Red Elephant Ranch last week in the middle of October. The owner, Mary, is so delightful and caring, and she loves dogs! Mary had the cabin all ready for us with all the personal touches of home. There was a basket of cookies , a bottle of wine ; and the wood burning stove greeted us with a cozy warmth as we stepped in to the Swedish cabin. If you want to be away from everything with every window view full of beautiful mountains, golden wheat pastures, a light dappled , bubbling creek, and herds of sheep and cows roaming back and forth; then this is the place for you. You can unplug with ease and forget about your troubles at The Red Elephant Ranch. We highly recommend staying at this little slice of heaven! Thank you Mary! xoxo
The cabin and the whole experience was absolutely great. We found ourselves opting to stay in at the cabin, relaxing, playing cards and boardgames, building a fire, instead of venturing out as much as we thought we would. The property was great as well. It was peaceful and we enjoyed walking around, taking it all in. Mary, the owner, and Eric, the caretaker , were absolutely great. The communication from booking to the end of the stay was perfect. We were well informed and everything was as expected. We can't wait to visit again! Thanks again Mary for everything!
had a wonderful time here. location is beautiful & peaceful yet easy access to town. vistas are amazing. log cabin itself had everything we needed. it's bigger than it looks in the pictures. hoping to go back in the summer! mary, the owner, is a treat & we look forward to our return! :)
I can not say enough great things about our stay. It is a charming family place to ease your soul. The views are magnificent and the house and property offer you comfort and charm. Every day was better than the last .
My husband, myself and our 2 dogs stayed at this property for about a month. It was absolutely wonderful! We read in a previous review and Mary the owner said it to us too, you'll never want to leave. They were right! There is something almost magical about this place. You feel this amazing sense of calm and contentment with a splash of curiosity. The property is spectacular! There are numerous places in the yard to sit and enjoy the scenery. With the way the property is situated you have 360° views. Both my husband and I worked remotely while here and 80% of the time my office was outside on the deck or by the creek. It was a dream! If you have to work while here the Wifi is great and our cell phone service worked perfectly. I don’t think I’ve seen our dogs happier either! The yard is fenced in and they could roam freely. There was so much for them to see, sniff and explore. The yard was full of green lush grass that they could roll, run and nap in. The free range cattle were grazing around us and that was constant visual stimulation for them. It was doggie paradise. The cabin itself was very welcoming. You could see and feel the pride in the craftsmanship of the home. I loved wandering around and finding little bits of history throughout it. It seemed like everything had meaning, a purpose and a story. We stayed in the bedroom downstairs and it was very comfy. My husband and I remarked at how well we slept here. The house has everything you need. We also fell in love with the town and surrounding areas. The people in Hailey are so friendly and Ketchum/Sun Valley has so much to offer for the outdoor enthusiast. We hiked every evening with our dogs and rarely repeated a trail. The area is very dog friendly. The views were breathtaking, from rolling hills to the national forest to Wood River. Something for everyone! We've rented numerous vacation rentals over the past 7+ years and I’ve never met an owner like Mary. She called a couple of times to see how we were doing. I found myself swapping stories and pictures with her about our adventures. You could tell she knew that the place was special and she genuinely wanted you to feel that too. I really can’t say enough about how much we loved this place! We’d been traveling all summer renting vacation rentals along the way and this was our favorite! I’ve been sharing our journey with our friends and family and this place quickly became a favorite with them too! We can’t wait to come back!
