This property is as remote and lovely as the pictures show it. The nearest town is a quick 15 minutes away (Scottsville) and has great restaurants, an adorable bakery, and a wonderful book/coffee shop. Thirty minutes further you are in the downtown of Charlottesville and have a variety of options to entertain yourself. I would highly recommend this property for those who are looking to be off the grid, but not too far from civilization. The owner was super responsive to any questions we had and also provided a lovely welcome basket for us. Clean, comfortable, and very relaxing!
This property is great if you are looking for a quiet weekend away within driving distance to the mountains. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The owners live on the property nearby and were very welcoming. Be prepared for minimal cell service (Verizon was on SOS mode, T-mobile had 1-2 bars). Scottsville is a 15 minute drive away and had a food lion and several places to visit. Had a wonderful time, thank you!
My husband and I stayed in this cute cabin for our 10 year anniversary. It was very cozy, super clean, and in the perfect location! The trails were nice, so bring shoes you don’t mind getting red clay on. There isn’t internet so if you want to watch movies I would suggest downloading them before you arrive. Also let family know you won’t have cell service while at the cabin. But it was honestly nice to put phones away and just enjoy the time. We very much enjoyed the visit and have talked about coming back!
Serene, quiet, and quaint. Not the place to go if you want cell service. The hosts home is close, but we didnt see them other than passing in the driveway. Cozy cabin feel, sweet kitty out in the gardens, if you want to escape the world of technology, its a fantastic stay.
Property was very clean, host was very sweet and hospitable. However… I thought this would be a quiet get a way with great fishing. Essentially this is a mother in law suite, where the host is a stone throw away. They were always out, doing things on the property. We were unable to fish on “our side” of the lake because of the marsh, it was impossible. Which was a huge bummer! The only place to fish was directly in front of their home. Which made it slightly awkward. They also had guests over which were loud, we could hear from inside our cabin. There was absolutely NO privacy. Overall, was it horrible? No. Just not what I expected, nor wanted out of a getaway vacation.
The cabin was very clean and thoughtfully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked and we were even able to bake a birthday cake in the air fryer. The water is just beautiful and we enjoyed a night by the fire. I do wish we’d known ahead of time just how close the host’s home was to our place. I think a little fence between the houses would help guests feel like they had more privacy. That being said, we were left alone and really enjoyed our stay!
Beautiful cabin lakeside with great fishing (catch and release only). Very comfortable and everything was there for you. I recommend shopping for groceries before you get there. The only drawback is that you are completely communications isolated. There’s no WiFi or phone service and no landline. Thankfully we didn’t have an emergency of any kind. The owner’s house is close by, but they weren’t home when we were there.
Perfect weekend getaway. Makes you forget all about the busy world elsewhere. Largemouth were fun too!
Beautiful location- we went to the town of scottsville to eat at Tavern on the James, and Bateau. Enjoyed the lively Tavern on Friday night and - the food. Also traveled to both Trump winery and Blenheim. Beautiful scenery- quiet. Lovely time.
Quiet cabin on secluded property. Beautiful pond and surrounding woods
Very relaxing in nature.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay , took several beautiful hikes around the property and caught(released) several fish . Hosts are onsite but are super friendly and leave guests to enjoy their stay . Owners have also installed privacy screens / shrubbery to add further privacy . Can’t wait to book our next trip !
It was truly a FABULOUS getaway.
Great place for my daughter's and I. Camp fires, fishing, bunk beds. Scottville is a short drive away for a meal if you don't want to cook. Cabin is clean and has that great cabin feel with a wonderful view of the lake. We caught a few fish from the shore. Has everything you could think of and things you probably wouldn't think to bring but would need. Just well thought out property for guests. Will be back 100%. No cell service just FYI.
Our recent stay here was more than warm and welcoming. We relished every day we got to spend in this beautiful cabin, far from the city life. Our host was more than helpful and kind enough to answer every question we had. The space was very comfortable and well-managed. The beautiful fall scenery left us in awe, especially during our hike around the property. We would, easily, stay here again.
If you’re looking for a completely remote location just to get away from the hubbub of everyday life, then this is the place! So peaceful and relaxing with all of the comforts of home. The attention to detail was amazing, everything just like new and really, all you need to bring is some basic food items. Not a whole lot to do around the area but bring your walking shoes for a hike in the woods or around the pond or some bikes to ride around on. We really enjoyed our stay there and the host is absolutely endearing! We did venture out and explored the area. Tons of vineyards and a few distilleries with Charlottesville only 30 some miles north. Check it out, you’ll love it!
We absolutely loved staying here to celebrate our anniversary. The host was amazing, super sweet and nice to talk to! The cabin was clean, organized, and the property was beautiful. Our favorite part were the views and fishing. We caught probably 25 fish at least which were bass and blue gill(catch and release). We enjoyed doing fires, fishing, and relaxing but we also ventured out to some surrounding breweries and downtown Scottsville, as well as the Totier Creek Resevoir where we hiked and caught more fish. Breweries/winery we highly recommend is tasting room at mount ida reserve(30min north), James River brewery, Wood Ridge farm brewery(45 min west) , and Lickinghole creek brewery(1 hour east). We will def be coming back to visit again! Thank you!
The area it resides within is lovely and being able to see the mist lift from the lake every morning while drinking a cup of coffee with the family just gives a different ambiance. I have lived in AC essentially my whole life and this experience made me open my eyes that there is actual beauty in this world. All I would see in the morning is the usual crackhead in AC. The owners were extremely friendly as well and very accommodating. Finally with a local town about 25mins away if you need supply's for cooking or need internet you can just pop by the library where even the staff is just as nice. Stop by Baine's pretty good coffee and bagels.
