Love coming here - our second visit. Easy drive from the airport. Enjoy the peace and quiet. Fireplace was awesome during some cool temps. Such a comfy place.
Excellent location, quiet, will book again!
The house was very nice and cozy. Loved the rustic feel of it. We enjoyed a fire outside and inside too.
This weekend away was a great compromise between camper-me and my non-camper husband. The Appalachian trail is a 15 minute drive away, so we were able to spend lots of time outdoors and still head back to satellite TV and a couch! This is an older property with an addition, so there’s some older home quirks that come with the charm. But a very nice vacation rental for the weekend. We enjoyed it.
Stay was exactly as billed. Great spot with the comforts of home in a cabin settling.
Exceeded our expectations, exceptional!!
We loved our time in the cabin in the woods as we call it. We were looking for a place to relax and just BE. The cabin was beautiful, and comfortable, and lovely! Very quiet and secluded. We definitely plan on returning for a longer stay!
Beautiful cabin in the woods. Centrally located to many attractions and small towns. Dogs enjoyed the lay of the land.
Nice clean and quiet place from which to attend various gatherings.
We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.
Had a good time. Very clean, nice location. Owner is very nice.
Cabin was as described. We loved it
This house has become my go to for an event I frequent in the area. Lovely home, clean, relaxing, has everything you need.
A perfect little rustic, yet comfortable and well appointed cabin. Loved the location. Close to a lot of activities and the Shenandoah river, yet quite private set in it's own little oasis on a beautiful lot. Will definitely come back again!
Would have given a 5 overall but experienced a kitchen sink plumbing issue which was a mess.
The cabin was lovely and in a great location to enjoy hiking. We loved the fireplace!
We really enjoyed our stay. My children and I slept in front of the fireplace all night. Decent restaurants and peace and quite were very much appreciated. The owner was very nice and accommodating. Looking forward to booking again with my wife.
I had some issues with the property...putside lights that were burnt out, locks on doors that did not work, and it just felt like it wasn't well maintained. To be honest this would get a 3 out of 5 except that dogs were allowed. The furniture cushions had noticable holes...I had to replace lightbulbs to see outside and not trip over the steps...but most important...there was no way to lock the cabin (my corporate laptop was exposed) and most of the doors either locked you out or were not openable. The owner had reasons/excuses...but I was not comfortable living alone on a property with doors that did not work properly. Hopefully that's all repaired now.
This was our 2nd visit and it feels like coming home. We love this cabin!
This home was exactly what we were looking for. It was charming , clean, and comfortable, and perfectly located near the Skyline Drive, Appalachian Trail and other hiking path heads, vineyards, and the Virginia State Arboretum at Blandy Farm, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is in a quiet location, yet near to wineries.
A great experience - we all enjoyed the coziness of the cabin and surrounding area.
It's a gem of a property in rural surroundings that are both peaceful and picturesque. We loved our hiking at both the Sky Meadow State Park and the State Arboretum which are very close by and had beautiful trips to the Shenandoah National Park which was about twenty minutes away via another very scenic drive. We had great times kayaking and fishing on the Shenandoah River at Gooney Creek. The cabin was clean, well equipped and cosy and we had a wonderful stay. we would highly recommend it as a place to have a wonderful break. Thank you Anne, we miss the fields already!
There was refuse in the kitchen trash can. The trashcan was one that had to be opened and closed by hand. The much touched area was dirty. There were three used cakes of soap in the shower and another sitting, partially melted in a wet soap dish next to the washbasin. The two beds in the smaller bedroom had obviously been slept in and the trash can in the adjoining bathroom contained numerous used Kleenex tissues. This would all be disgusting under normal circumstances, but at this time of public health crisis it is that much worse.
Very cozy cabin in a beautiful location. Easy access and clean up and pet friendly. We recommend Bear Chase Brewery close by as well as the Piedmont Trail at Sky Meadow Park. Both are stunning. Thank you!
The accommodations were spacious, clean and homey. It was easy to settle in and the location was set back on the property. Lots of bird watching that my son enjoyed within a quiet naturalistic setting. My children loved it and my wife and I enjoyed the tranquility. Lots of hiking activity around the area too.
My son and I had a great time. The area was very quiet and beautiful. The cabin had a nice ambience and is very comfortable. The host was responsive to all queries in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend staying at this property.
The home was exactly as described. A very secluded location. Very clean. Gorgeous bathroom upstairs. Close to wineries and hiking. Nice for a quiet getaway.
We loved Anne’s historic cabin. As an architect I can tell you it’s very well furnished, well equipped and Anne was very responsive to any questions we had- being local helps. We loved our stay.
We were looking to get away for a long weekend for some rest and relaxation, and this place delivered. The cabin was very clean when we checked in, and check-in was a breeze. The location was a big plus: it's only a few minutes drive to Sky Meadows State Park, the Appalachian Trail, the State Arboretum of Virginia, a number of wineries, and some nice places to eat (like the Buttery in Millwood and the Hunter's Head Tavern in Upperville), but it's pretty secluded and you don't get much, if any, traffic noise from the highway. We got to take advantage of the fireplace a couple of nights, which was fun. Bringing able to bring our dog was a big plus.
We had a wonderfully relaxing time. The cabin is perfectly comfortable. The large stone fireplace when chilly outside is delightful. Everything we needed was provided. And our sweet 11 year old Goldendoodle loved playing in the country. We will definitely be back! We look forward to our next round of R&R. Thank you, Anne
We enjoyed our stay and the cabin was extremely updated especially for its age. Would stay again! Only issue was check in which was a bit stressful due to an issue with communication. We did not receive a key code or info on how to access the cabin which as it turns out is due to the property being unlocked. Very safe neighborhood and this ended up fine. Next renter just be aware re this.
Great little cabin. Loved our visit. Property owners were wonderful!!
WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK.
Only issue was road noise (not bad though). Great accommodations - and location. Nice owner for sure.
We really did enjoy our stay. The location was right, we caught some fish in the nearby river, we were an easy drive for lots of the stuff we wanted to do. The cabin was clean, no need for an air conditioner with all the windows open. I have two gripes. For the cost, I would have hoped the kitchen would have been better stocked and maintained. They need a $50 run to the dollar store for a decent set of drinking glasses and measuring cups. Also, the sofa is made of fabric and if you have a pet allegery your trip can be ruined.
We loved the house and enjoyed our stay while at the Loudoun Benefit horse show!
This is our second stay at the Kennel Rd. Cabin, and we love it. We are a bunch of horse people who travel with our well-behaved dogs, and the cabin is perfect for all of us. It's comfortable inside and out, with a great dining room, front porch, palatial upstairs bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and plenty of running room for the dogs to play. What more could we want? We'll be back!
Great, secluded, little cabjn in the woods. We loved our stay!
Hoping to come back sometime soon! Would recommend to anyone kids or no kids. Also thanks for the list of places to eat!
We had a lovely stay here. The home is outfitted with everything you could want, is charming inside and out, and is situated in gorgeous rolling hills close to hiking and nature walks. We had a very relaxing stay.
This 19th century cabin is a great spot - furnished with antiques and super art. Situated on 5 wooded acres it was so much fun. Centrally located - minutes to the village of Millwood, 20 minutes to Middleburg and one hour to the Washington Metro area. We had a great time.
My husband and I along with our daughter and son-in-law spent a lovely weekend in this charming and private hunt box surrounded by woods. We visited several local vineyards, a meadery, and a cidery. Not enough time to investigate all the quaint towns and hiking trails!! We enjoyed dinner out one night and cooked in the next, enjoying a cozy fire in the stone fireplace. Although just a little over an hour from the city, we felt a lifetime away. The only drawback were the single beds...(but they were antiques and had fluffy comforters) . This log home is even lovelier than pictured.
Kennel road cabin was the absolute perfect getaway! We love the rustic historical feel and the surrounding beauty. We look forward to another visit.
This place is every bit worthy of it's description Perfect.... We had a wonderful time here and most definitely hope to stay here the next time we travel to the area. SO peaceful! We were visited every morning by a doe between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.; a turkey and her chicks wandered around and a nest with baby birds were in the porch rafters. Saturdays we heard the hunt bugle sound and the dogs baying as they took off. Wild raspberries are everywhere and sitting on the porch in the evening watching the thousands of lightning bugs among the trees was amazing. The house itself is incredible! For an original 1800s home, it is extremely well maintained and everything you need is provided. The owners are very helpful and it is obvious from the care they give this home and its occupants, they truly care about this home. Can't wait to go back!
We loved our stay at the cabin. It's exactly as pictured in the photos, and worked perfectly for three of us and our dogs while we were in town for the Upperville Horse Show. I would happily stay there again at any time!
I rented this for 4 friends attending my daughters wedding in Upperville, VA. They absolutely loved it. They are city girls and loved the quiet as they sat outside listening to nature. They thought it was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Highly recommended! Anne was so lovely to work with and responded immediately to all my questions.
This 19th century cabin is a real find - charming and private. Nicely furnished. Very close to Millwood and Upperville, we found great restaurants close by in Marshall and Middleburg.
We had a wonderful time staying at the cabin! On the way in, we followed Anne's recommendation to visit the Locke Store to stock up on provisions and stumbled into a fantastic wine tasting--the weekend just kept getting better from there. We fell in love with the adorable and well-appointed cabin at first sight, and it served as the perfect base for our weekend adventure of wine tasting, long country walks, and coming home to build a roaring fire. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, and we can't wait to go back again!
