This Cabin is within a short walking distance of the Beach on Lake Superior and the AuTrain River. Spend some time relaxing on the Beach or swim in the warm water of the River where it empties into the Lake. This location is perfect for a home base of all of the local attractions this area has to offer. Within 15 minutes you are in Munising where you can do the Pictured Rocks cruise, Shipwreck Tour or Kayak tour and many more. Munising is the start of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and there's days worth of activities there and the surrounding area. See over a dozen waterfalls all within 30 minutes from the Cabin.
The cabin is done completely in custom woodwork. As you enter, you'll see the homemade barn doors for bedrooms and hallway closets. As you walk past, you will enter the main living area that is all an open concept and all done in custom woodwork. There's locally sourced Hemlock walls and homemade rustic cabinets. The Kitchen is part of the open concept that is perfect for anyone who likes to cook. With a central stove and counter area, the cook can engage with the other group members as they sit around the bar that goes around the kitchen or watch TV while they cook. In the corner of the cabin is a homemade wet bar, (no liquor, SORRY!) The main bathroom is large and has a custom steel shower, the other bathroom is in the back off the laundry room and has a full size tub and shower. In the bedrooms, one has a king, the other has a queen and the 3rd bedroom has a full on bottom and twin on top for sleeping accommodations for 7. All of the 3 bedrooms have smart TV's.
Out back is a fenced in yard with a covered patio with table, chairs and flattop grill. Also a fire pit area and chairs for sitting provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy the fire, outdoors, each other and the stars..... For pet owners, there's a pen area with a door to the cabin.
We're confident you will enjoy this cabin and the area as we have for years!
This cottage is 100 % smoke free of any kind. A $150.00 fee will be assessed for smoking inside the cottage.
Basic hospitality items were non-existent. Have stayed in lots of VRBO past ten years and always got at least basic coffee-tea fixings. Sugar jar had SALT in it and ruined whole pot of coffee. No bath toiletries either. Called management and got full voicemail so couldn’t even leave message. Before we arrived I emailed host with a question and never got answer so felt ignored from beginning. For the high price of this place we expected some ‘extras’. Oh ya the cabin is spacious and the beds were comfortable.
Very clean and spacious place to stay. Close to the beach and all the waterfalls. Great experience!
The cabin was in a great location for exploring the Pictured Rocks area. Plenty of room inside to spread out.
We are rock hounds, we try to travel in different areas of Michigan and see what we can find. We went on the picture rock cruise, grand marais had awesome homemade pizza at a saloon. We saw about four waterfalls, seen the bears at oswalds and ventured are way to St Ignace and saint sault marie. We were busy busy. We stayed back with the dogs and the kids went to Marquette. Cory’s home was roomy and comfortable for all of us. The fenced in yard was perfect for us we didn’t have to keep an eye on the dogs closely. The beach up the road was great with the dogs and kids. We would definitely want to stay again.
Loved this place. The inside is so roomy and open. Love the decor. The owner was great and even loaned us ramps and helped us unload our quad. Really close to the beach and trails for some amazing rides. We would for sure stay here again.
Half way between Marquette and Munising. Pick a direction and go do cool stuff. Most highly stocked vacation home we've ever rented. Crock pot, mixing bowls, griddle, pots and pans, dishes, blankets, TP, towels, board games, TV, blender, vacuum sealer, food dehydrator, washer, drier... Biggest negative was nobody answered the emergency line when we called about the well pump not working due to a power outage. Owner emailed me the next day. Appreciated the pet friendliness but did not appreciate the previous guests who failed to clean up after their pets. Overall, a great place to stay.
Great accommodations with everything you need. Would definitely rent again. Thank you!
Our group spent the weekend hiking at different ice caves and waterfalls and this cabin was centrally located. The cabin is larger than the pictures make it look, and we loved all the counter space in the kitchen and bar areas. The wet bar was a great addition for mixing up drinks. Both bathrooms are spacious which was great for multiple people getting ready. Only thing we would change was to have more blankets available, it gets cold in the bedrooms since they are farther away from the heating vents. We are planning a trip for the summer and will definitely be keeping this cabin as an option!
The property was great and the owner was very responsive and personable! We came to snowmobile and the trail was very easy to access. We would book again hands down during any season!
Super close to trails. Nice house. Ample parking. Nice bedrooms, bedding and bathrooms.
Perfect spot for a snowmobile trip. Easy access to groomed trails. Good parking for trailer and sleds. Gas easily accessible. Very comfortable place to stay and relax after a day on the trails. Cory was great to deal with.
We had a great time. Corey and staff were friendly and very helpful. We plan to stay here again if we come back to the area.
Property was very nice and everything to make a nice comfortable week. Definitely would recommend!
Came up in early January to see waterfalls and hike. The area and scenery was awesome. The cabin had everything we needed and then some. A well equipped kitchen and big griddle on the patio made for an easy and delicious breakfast for a group. Gas fireplace made it cozy. There are two bathrooms and one of them has an awesome shower with 2 shower heads and great water pressure. Check in and check out was easy. We’re already planning a trip during warmer weather.
Highly recommend. Thank you.
We had a wonderful time in this fun cabin. The place had everything we needed and was a cozy spot for our winter getaway. The kids want to come back in the summer.
The inside of this property is beautiful! Lots of special and unique finishings. The kitchen is fully loaded with gas stove and very nice appliances. Memory foam king bed was very comfortable! Also great outdoor area for campfires which we didn't have a chance to take advantage of. Quick drive to Munising, Pictured Rocks, Miners Beach and a bunch of waterfalls. Great place to stay for outdoor enthusiasts!
Wonderfully comfortable place to stay! The location was perfect! Close to stores, the town of Christmas & Munising, and Lake Superior. Everything inside the cabin was clean and made cooking, showering, sleeping, and relaxing very easy and enjoyable! Definitely has a man cave vibe to it, but made you feel cozy during your visit. We were sad to leave and wished we had booked one more day. We will DEFINITELY be back! 😊👍❤️
Spacious home with awesome location close to pictured rocks. Pet-friendly with fenced in yard which was a plus. Definitely would stay again!
We could not have asked for more. The cabin-style, dog-friendly house, with enclosed backyard and fire pit, was perfect for us. The location — a few miles from pictures rocks, 3minute walk from the unique Au Train River / Lake Superior beach, and across the street from kayak rentals — gave us a whole host of fun activities. Roughly two hours from the shipwreck museum & Falls to the east. Perfect place to experience the U.P.!
The Au Train house is perfect for a relaxing getaway on the U.P. First, the owner quickly responded to questions we had. Upon entering the home after driving up from Ann Arbor, we found it spotlessly clean, and very well appointed. Great sitting/tv and kitchen area, and the fenced-in yard was perfect for our dogs. There's also a fire pit and table for eating outdoors. The kitchen had plenty of spices and all manner of cookware and baking accessories. The bedrooms were a little small but we didn't find it a big deal since we spent most of the time enjoying the outdoors and hanging out in the family room. Geographically the house is a short walk to a beautiful beach on Lake Superior. It's also close to hiking trails, and a convenience store, deli, gas station, and kayak rental are all within a short walk. We also found the cabin to be very centrally located. A short drive to the east is the town of Munising, Pictured Rocks, and related attractions. A short drive to the west is the city of Marquette. In all, if you're looking for a very comfortable and quiet place to relax on this part of the U.P., look no further.
This is the perfect homebase if you're trying to do a lot of sightseeing. We did a lot of hiking in Marquette and Munising and this is located right between the two towns. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities and was great for cooking/entertaining. Beds were comfortable. The floors were a little dirty with sand/debris when we arrived but nothing a quick sweep couldn't handle. We would definitely stay here again!
This is a man cave but we were overall happy with it for our family trip. The kitchen was super well equipped, the beds and bathrooms were clean. There is an unusual amount of weird stuff and clutter in this place but it is large enough that it’s not a huge problem. We did not find the yard or grill very clean, tidy or useable.
We had a great week here. Kitchen beautifully stocked, and everyone slept well! Loved how easy it was to kayak the river with Da Yak Shak.
Cute cottage, convenient location to all things we wanted to do
Our family of 4 visited the area for a few days and were very pleased with this property! Easy check in/out. Great recommendations for things to do in the area provided by the host. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. Beds were very comfortable. We would love to come back another time to stay at the property and keep exploring this beautiful area of Michigan!
Very good I will come back for sure.
This is a beautiful home filled with everything you could ever need right down to seasonings for cooking. Walking distance to Lake Superior. Also suggest... Kayak the Au Train River. Definitely on the top of my list of an amazing and memorable vacation. Thank You so much Cory!!!!!! Sincerely, The Miller’s
