Deming, Washington
Welcome! The property is a wilderness with beautiful views of Church Mt that blends with a wildlife preserve. It reminds me of Jurassic park! This historic ski cabin is an oasis to come home to for a hot shower or soak in the bath. If you do not feel like cooking dinner, just down the highway1/3 mile, there are three great restaurants and the Wake n Bakery and the Mt. Baker ski area is a 20 minute drive to the ski area. Free WIFI and parking.
Comfortable beds, 2 bathrooms, a private master bedroom and beautiful carpets through out the cabin. There are extra cozy throws to wrap up in when you are watching some of our great movie selections, reading or listening to music on the fabulous sound system. There is a small library of interesting books.
Cabin history: This is a rustic, cherished cabin that our family built. Otto T. Trott, M.D. was co founder of Mountain Rescue of the U.S.A and a Ski Patrol doctor at Mt. Baker for 44 years. Dr. Trott was an original organizer of the National Volunteer Ski Patrol. He was a famous diagnostician, surgeon, epidemiologist and tuberculosis expert and his teaching lectures are still being used today in hospitals and Universities. A ski run "Ottobahn" is named in his honor.

Thank you!
The setting was sublime, the location perfection, the facilities extremely clean, and the hosts responsive and organized. I couldn’t have asked for a better vacation spot to unwind and soak up nature. I would love to return in the summer and hike. A real treat!
Me and my guests just completed a wonderful trip to this delightful forested preserve of a property. It was cozy and inviting, with comfortable beds, piping hot showers in demand, and a gorgeous view of Church Mountain. We cooked delicious meals together with a full kitchen, and played on the large rotating Scrabble board both nights. We could have watched some fun looking titles of the film selection, but had too much fun just playing and reading. It is great to have good reading lights above each bed. We discovered the long railway easement road across the highway opposite the cabin which takes you through a lovely moss covered walk all the way into Glacier, where we enjoed a muffin and coffee at the Wakenbake Bakery and Cafe. The helpful signs the host put up gave us good instructions about how best to manage this lovely secluded cabin in the woods. And it was SO quiet, we could hear owls!
We’ve stayed at the Trott cabin several times now and it’s always a great stay. Renate and Norman are wonderful hosts. The cabin is comfortable and in a perfect location for skiing at Mt. Baker.
Very private with great character. The property has a great view. Loved the chairs under the apple tree.
This is our third time at the cabin and it’s always perfect for our family’s Mt. Baker stay - close to hikes and skiing, dog friendly, and friendly hosts. We’ll be back!
We really loved this cozy cabin! It has a gorgeous view, is situated on a large property, and only a couple minutes to get to the amenities in Glacier. We loved learning about this cabin's history and the life of Otto Trott. I stayed up one night until 1 a.m. reading the book about him at the cabin, made by what appears to be one of the family members. Such an interesting person and the book is a wonderful tribute to him and a true labor of love! The cabin had all of the amenities we needed and we appreciated that it's dog-friendly. The do wish I had known that the cabin is situated right off the Mt. Baker Highway. While it still feels private, you can hear the traffic and we did need to worry about the dog and make sure he was always well supervised outside and didn't wander near the traffic. I was hoping the dog could have freedom on the property, so may have chosen a different place to stay if I had known this. It would be helpful to mention in the cabin description. Despite that one issue, overall this is a wonderful place and I highly recommend it!
Our family loved staying at the Trott cabin for our short ski vacation at Mt. Baker, and we'd love to come back again. Even with the challenge of a 24-hour power outage which affected the whole area on the coldest day in a long time (low single digits!), we had fun, thanks to incredible communication/support from the owners and their well-prepared supplies of water and firewood. We were so glad not to miss our two bluebird days at Baker, using the cozy cabin as a home-base. The house is very clean, well-organized, stocked with everything you need, and full of little creative and historical touches. We had a great time!
Nervous contacts from owner months before rental detracted from pleasure. Instructions everywhere caused us to never forget we were usurpers. I do understand there is a need for accountability, but we also had the need to relax. Instructions for wifi on fact list not accurate . Power lost morning of leaving...no instructions regarding this....no contact numbers. Our holiday was lovely but this is not a cabin to relax in.
Superbly organized, spotlessly clean, private & unique, we had a lovely stay. Easy access to sights & trails. A few minutes to Glacier for a meal out, but everything available in the cabin for a quiet evening. Enjoyed being awakened by the sunrise behind the mountains. A treat!
It’s a beautiful cabin and the history is so interesting. The area is lovely - private and a beautiful view! Surrounding towns are so quaint and awesome views at Mt Baker. Renate was a great and very responsive host!!
This family cabin is located off of a mountain highway, but set far back on the property with clear views, and surrounded by giant old trees, ferns, thimble berry bushes, and numerous other native plants. The air smells so sweet and clean, and the relaxation that comes from looking at that much lush greenery is significant. Inside the cabin, you’ll find anything you need for a comfortable stay, plus an excellent set of 3 foot tall, old school speakers. We’ve stayed at the Trott Family Cabin numerous times, and I always look forward to listening to their CD of Fleetwood Mac. We recently stayed during a mini heat wave, but temperatures at the cabin were consistently 20 degrees cooler than out on the road, and it cooled down to the 50s at night. This place is an authentic gem, family owned with lots of personality and love.
