We loved this cabin! The setting is beautiful nestled right up against the forest. The backyard deck and seating areas and lights at night were perfecr for unwinding after a day of hiking. We played games on the deck and enjoyed movies on the projector screen. The host thought of everything with all that is provided in this cabin! Plenty of soft towels, everything you could possibly need in the kitcken too! We had an amazing week exploring Mt Ranier and coming back to the cabin at the end of the day was wonderful. We hated to leave and would defiantely come back! Perfect location too!
If you're looking for a cabin getaway, this place is it! The cabin itself is in a great location and is beautifully constructed. Besides the nosey neighbors that like to stare out their windows at you, you will also see elk, black tailed deer, squirrels and hummingbirds. We closed the blinds to the neighbors. I would have no problem with the small-cat sized dust bunnies that filled each corner and crevice of the cabin because, well, it's a cabin, however, they charge a high cleaning fee! If I (and anyone else who stays there) is being charged that much for cleaning, then I think it is reasonable to expect the place to be clean, which it definitely was not. Those floors have not seen a vacuum or mop in who knows how long. We also found some syringed tube port cleaning device of some sort in the couch. Gross. I emailed the property manager twice asking about all of the extra fees and asked about the cleaning fee because, you guessed it, the place was not clean by a long shot. I also provided pictures but did not receive a response. I guess they just want the cash but not the feedback. Hungry? Help yourself to the myriad of food options left in the freezer, but avoid the ice cream. It appeared to have been melted, all over the drawer, and then refrozen when the freezer was turned back on. Yum. Or check out the Shakeology powder(expired in 2020, no biggie) that can be found tucked away on a shelf in the beautiful kitchen. I wish I had 1500 more characters to keep going.
We stayed here 2 nights and had a great time. The loft area upstairs was great for our kids and there was a baby gate since it's a stair/ladder down to the ground. One thing to note is the beams beneath the loft (to get to the back deck) are maybe at 6'4 or so, so very tall people might have to watch their heads there, as I did. It's easy to get to, but not secluded, there are neighboring houses/cabins. Overall, I'd recommend this cabin as it was very comfortable.
Great property, could have been cleaner
Unfortunately during our stay there were forest fires higher in the mountains. Management was quick to help ease any concerns we had about them. But overall, not really impacted when we were at the cabin. We were looking for a place to relax, refresh from hectic work schedule and that’s just what we got. Located in a nice, quiet neighborhood and the porch and back deck were nice to laze around on.
We checked in and the place was spacious and very comfortable. The weather was hotter than we expected but we were provided fans for every sleeping space and were comfortable. The instructions for staying at the cabin were very clear. We didn't realize there wasn't wifi and we did miss that. It was a peaceful and rewarding experience. Thanks!? ?
We enjoyed our stay here very much.
We had a wonderful stay in Packwood. The house was perfectly situated for visiting Reflection Lake, and hiking in Rainier. We took advantage of sitting outside for dinner, and enjoyed using the well appointed kitchen. The house has a semi-modern cabin feel. While there were lots of traditional cabin details, there were some wonderful modern farmhouse additions-especially the bathrooms! Our son loved having the loft space, and all of the games etc. Packwood was a fun little town, and we had some great beers/food at Packwood Brewing while listening to live music. The town, and house, were perfect after a long days of traveling and outdoor adventures!
We selected this property for its proximity to Mt Rainier as we are hikers. Communication with the property managers via email to rent the house was very challenging. Repeated emails via VRBO with no response. On the last day before departure to the property I had the good fortune to contact Laurie by phone who helped me finally get confirmation, property location and check in directions. She deserves a 5 star rating for taking my repeated calls and getting me the necessary information. The house is in a neighborhood a ways from the town of Packwood. There is no air conditioner and we arrived on the hottest days of the year. While very hot, the interior of the house is nice and roomy and has all the amenities you need in the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. There’s a nice deck in the back that faces the woods that we used in the evening.
