Nice and quiet 2-bedroom A-frame cabin available to rent nightly or weekly. Ideal for a weekend getaway in the woods, yet close enough to Athens for anyone visiting our local events. The cabin has 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom and 2 porches with serene, country views. Both bedrooms are upstairs, and the bathroom is downstairs. We can setup a bedroom in the livingroom no problem, just let us know. Located only 5 miles from East State St the cabin is easy to access after the short drive. The two bedrooms are each furnished with a king sized bed. For entertainment the cabin comes equipped with satellite television, DVD player, blue-tooth music player. WIFI, we no longer provide a hotspot for this cabin, we do however have a really strong cell phone signal for hotspotting a phone.. Amenities include washer/dryer, full kitchen with coffee station, fire pit in private backyard for evening enjoyment.. We would also like to note that the stairs to get to bedrooms are steep, we can furnish the livingroom as a bedroom no problem. Thank you for your interest please messege any questions.
We were in town for OU graduation so did not spend a lot of that the property. I would have liked to take advantage of the fire pit and the lovely back decks.
We loved our weekend stay at this great little cabin! It was easy check-in, very clean, great communication with the owners, and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this rental and hope to return. Thank you for an enjoyable stay and for helping save my husky!
Plan to stay again in future.
My family and I had a good time staying here. Pros: the kitchen was fully-stocked with all pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. that you could possibly need. The oven was brand new, as well as the kitchen counter. The living room had new furniture. The view was completely amazing. Two new decks had recently been built and they were really nice. The location was wonderful. It was quiet and we loved seeing and hearing the wildlife. The owners were very nice and quick to respond to any messages. They left us eggs fresh from their chickens and that was really cool. The beds were both king-sized and very comfortable. We all slept well every night. It's also a plus that they accept pets, as we were able to bring our dog and he enjoyed himself, as well. For the cons: It was honestly difficult to believe that any sort of cleaning had been done before we arrived. The listing said that all high-touch surfaces are cleaned after each guest, but the refrigerator handle, as well as the inside of it, were very dirty and covered in old pieces of food. We had to clean it before putting any of our food inside of it. I did tell the owners about that and they apologized and said that they were planning on replacing that fridge soon. That wasn't the only thing that was dirty, though. The kitchen table had crumbs on it, the front door was covered in some brown liquid, there were spider webs all over the kitchen, the drawers were not clean inside, the light switches in every room were dirty, the knobs on the oven were dirty, and the floors appeared to have not been swept. The bathroom had dried toothpaste spit on the walls above the sink, and every wall in the cabin was covered with bug dirt. There were a lot of stink bugs in the cabin, as is expected when out in the country, but it would've been nice if their dirt had been cleaned off of the walls. There were trails of it everywhere, including on the wall that the bed was backed up against, so that was pretty gross. The cabin is currently under construction and I can see that they are making wonderful improvements, so I do feel bad even noting these things, but it definitely needed to be cleaned a lot more before we came in for our stay. We had to clean a lot of things ourselves upon arrival. There was also an outlet cover missing in the living room, which was a little dangerous for our child to be near, and the whole place smelled like moth balls, which we quickly got used to. I give this cabin a 3 overall.
Enjoy the country as if it were home. The Bush family provide a great cabin for relaxation.
We were pleasantly surprised when we go to the property. The owner had done some upgrades. There was a new porch in the back and a new balcony off the one bedroom. The steps leading to the bedrooms had been replaced. They put new furniture in the front room (a double recliner/rocker and two new chairs). The bedrooms each had a king size bed and they were very comfortable. The scenery was gorgeous. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone. Mr. Kish was very nice. We had a great time exploring State Parks in the area. It was wonderful.
The Bush's were great. The cabin had way more available then what we expected. Even though they are right down the street, we had our privacy. It cozy, the views are amazing and it was just fantastic. Thank you George and Katrina for such a wonderful stay. We will be back 😁😁.
A little funky but good for the price!
My family and I were looking for a weekend getaway and that's exactly what we got! George and Kat supply the cabin with more than we expected! They were even able to bring us a wifi hotspot to use so my son would survive 😆. We enjoyed our time in the cabin and are already trying to figure out when we can return! 9nce again I would recommend this cabin to any of my friends or family!! Thanks again for everything!!
We were very comfortable staying here. Very relaxing.
What better way to spend our 50th Anniversary than a cabin in the Hocking Hills. Peaceful and Beautiful!
Great owner, very nice. Provided snacks, and coffee. The location was great, many animals like cows and bunnies. Great stay
we really enjoyed our time and will make our way back around again.
The towels were delightful... and that is about all we can say positive about this property. The walls and floor were tilted and leaning. The 3 AC units were so loud one could hardly talk to each other. The stairs were like climbing a cliff face. We were greeted with a nasty odor which we eventually just got used to. The porches were filthy and the furniture was torn apart and run down. The screen door wouldn't close. Several lightbulbs were not working. The toilet seat had paint chips coming off of it. Overall it just did not seem like a clean, sanitary place to stay. Also - this property should not be listed under Hocking Hills area. it was a good 45 minute drive to Hocking Hills.
I was highly disappointed
I have absolutely no complaints! We would definitely love to stay here again. The Bush's go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and have what you need. Thank you so very much!
We had a wonderful time. The place was clean, had everything we needed, and was very spacious.
Will go back
I loved staying at this cabin, and the hosts are very communicative and accommodating!
I did not see the info on the property that Informs the stairs to the bedroom is up some very steep stairs. All bedrooms upstairs with one bathroom downstairs. This was very difficult for me since I have one bad knee. The outside of the property was not very well lit and had stumps and runts which were unsafe when getting to the front door. Much better stay for younger people and maybe only 2 days and nights as opposed to a week. The kitchen “table” was very tiny and had supplies on top. There was no coffee table in the living room to set up table game or even eat comfortably there instead if the kitchen. The owners were very nice. I think it just is probably a better place for a younger crowd. They accommodate dogs which is a plus!
A great place close to campus to visit for parents and dad’s weekend
Everything was terrific...very thoughtful owners gave us every comfort of home
The cabin was clean and welcoming. The beds were comfortable. It was quiet with a lovely view. Check in was simple. The cabin is off the beaten path. Saw lots of wildlife while traveling to and from town. The cabin was unique but suited our needs.
My friends and I had a great time at this location! We loved the kitchen and the cool bedrooms! Star gazing is a must!
Property was in good location for overnight stays in the Athens area. Could use some TLC in my opinion....Owners were nice and very helpful.
Very nice place, quiet and comfortable, had everything we needed.
Great place to stay and get away for a long weekend. Easy access to town but in the country enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. Missy R.
Quiet, peaceful & off the beaten path but also convenient for OU student visit!
Real nice place for the price. As advertised stairs are a bit steep, but other than that i would definitely recommend this home to others. Great views. In the country. Very quiet. We will be back.
Very nice place George and his wife go way out of there way to make your stay perfect. If you have any questions and problems they jump right on it !
Quiet and comfortable. Very clean. Polite owners with excellent communication!
Awesome people, made sure every amenity was there. Great views. Will be returning.
