A newly-built (just completed on 9/26/2016) guesthouse in the heart of the Old West. We also own and manage the sister property #454664. Please check out the wonderful reviews. There are no shared walls between the two properties, and they each have their own entrance.
We are located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but in reality being just minutes from downtown, this bungalow guesthouse gives you the best of both worlds.
Sit out on the large private patio and enjoy watching the quail and other wildlife, or visit with our own assortment of livestock. There is a 6-foot privacy fence around the majority of the patio. The patio also has a 22x5-foot long sitting area that is open to our pasture to the south. You can sit out, drink your coffee, and watch the sun come up. We are pet-friendly, and can even board horses for a small fee.
After you have enjoyed your day, relax around a fire in the fire pit, or soak in the hot tub while watching the sky for shooting stars and satellites. If you feel like cooking outside, there is a brand-new KitchenAide gas grill available, or you can BBQ over the fire in the fire pit.
As you enter the bungalow, you see the attention to detail. The room has a contemporary feel, with a strong accent of the industrial age. The main room is very open, with a kitchen that comes well-equipped with high-end stainless steel appliances. It has a full-size refrigerator, double-bin sink, a very nice gas cook-top, a large convection microwave, and a dishwasher . It also has a toaster oven, automatic coffee-maker, and everything you would need to cook a wonderful meal. There is a breakfast bar that seats 4 people. It adds extra counter top space, or you can enjoy your meals there.
The living area has two large couches that double as XL twin beds. Just pull off the back cushions, put the sheets on, and you are ready for bed. The linens are stored in the space below the couches. The dining room table seats 4 comfortably, and is made from an antique drafting table. There is a 40-inch television set in the living area.
The bedroom is very spacious. It has a king-size bed, a dresser with two large drawers for folded clothes, an armoire to hang clothes, and a built-in luggage rack. There is also a 40-inch television set in the bedroom.
The bathroom has a very spa-like feel, from the tile work and the stainless steel accents to the two vessel sinks and the endless counter top space. The walk-in shower is the the size of a tiny house, with lots of room to move around. This bathroom has to be experienced to be appreciated.
There is a stackable washer and dryer, as well as a separate closet to hang your clothes. Other amenities include an iron and ironing board, another portable luggage rack, and a Pack-and-Play for those with small children.
The guesthouse is climate-controlled with a whisper-quiet heating and cooling system.
Check-in time is 4PM. Check-out time is 11AM. There is a $10/guest per night fee for more than two people.
If you are looking for a smaller, more intimate space, please check out our other property, 454664.
Come stay outside the box, and experience the true West Texas.

The space was very nice with a fire pit and outdoor hot tub. There is also chickens, a horse and goats in the back yard which the kids loved watching. Very nice place!
This property was beautiful, calm, serene, and simple, yet thoughtfully staged and resourced. My partner and two toddlers joined me, and we really enjoyed every second. From the horses/goats/chickens/ducks to the hot tub under the vastly open sky, there was so much to do and check out. Also, very close to the Marfa Lights viewing area. A fun touch of magic nearby!
From the lovely and comforting decor to the fascinating chickens, goats, geese and horse right outside your windows, to the freshly laid eggs in the refrigerator, this place is one of the best!
This was absolutely perfect for me, my husband and our dog! We were in Alpine for a baseball game and it was only a 10 minute drive Kokernot Field. The location is very close to town but we definitely felt like we were out in the country. In fact we woke up and had coffee watching goats and chickens just outside our window! The little apartment is immaculate, has a comfortable bed, a huge shower and a well stocked kitchen. And Steve and Lisa were great hosts! Very friendly but respectful of our privacy as well. We will be back!
Morning teatime on the back porch with the backdrop of big brown mountains pushing into the dusty blue sky and goats and chickens clucking about, this was a refreshing getaway for me and my family. Roomy guest house and delicious omelet for breakfast from farm fresh chicken eggs left for us in the fridge by the host, I cooked in the well-appointed kitchen. Hot tub time under the star-filled skies and a quiet night slept in a comfortable bed, I don't want to forget this trip.
Perfect place to stay in you plan to check out the Marfa lights. We had a nice evening enjoying the dark sky. Place was nice and very clean. Perfect for a family of four.
Our stay was absolutely amazing! The property was beautiful and clean, exactly as pictured and described and then some! The beds are extremely comfortable and the living and dining areas have a wonderful view of their farm. The kitchen was very well equipped and had lots of unexpected extras, like farm fresh eggs, butter, condiments, high end appliances etc, thank you! The bathroom was beautiful and had lots of counter-space and the shower was huge! We enjoyed using the outdoor hot tub at night while stargazing! And our favorite part? All of the farm animals!!! We loved waking up and spending time with all of the cute goats, chickens, ducks, and Thor the sweetest horse!! The property is in such a great location too. Short drive to Marfa, Fort Davis, McDonald Observatory. And it’s not too far from Big Bend. The owners Lisa and Steve were such kind and gracious hosts. This was our first time staying at a VRBO and they have set the bar very high. We look forward to staying on their property again. Thank you Lisa and Steve!!
My wife and I took a short road trip through the Davis mountains and Alpine and were looking for a scenic place to stay for a night. This property came up and it was perfect! It's outside of Alpine but still has easy access. It's nice and quiet, really well-maintained, and beautifully designed. You can tell the owners put careful thought into all the details of the property and have done a great job putting it together! The amenities were perfect- from the updated full kitchen and bathroom to the firepit and hot tub, to the custom furniture and comfortable bed, to the great view of the farm animals out back, it was an awesome place to rest and relax. I wish we could've stayed longer!
We loved our stay at Steve & Lisa’s place! It looks just like the pictures, only better! Great hosts, terrific location & adorable place! Lots of little extras & we loved all the animals, very private as well!
What an amazing property with elegant finishes, very comfortable bedding and pleasant surroundings of local farm life. Bonus farm fresh eggs were provided and they didn't disappoint. This property is less than ten minutes from groceries and downtown Alpine and was much better than we expected. Check in and check out procedure was simple. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.
The property is very well maintained and scenery is gorgeous. I was happy to see the owners were aggies, so I was confident I had picked the right place. Loved the farm animals and night sky. Owners made sure to include many little things, such as bathroom and kitchen essentials. Overall, a great and interesting experience that is definitely worth checking out.
Property is clean and offers amenities not usually provided. Lisa provided some eggs from their hens, and provided a list of local restaurants for dinner.
We really loved staying at this property near Alpine. It's a semi-rural setting only 3 miles from downtown Alpine. We enjoyed breakfasts with the chickens and goats, and spent our evenings relaxing in the hot tub. Lisa and Steve were wonderful hosts.
very clean - we absolutely loved the hot tub
Upon arriving, the atmosphere was very calm and welcoming. We were greeted with farm animals, an amazing overlook of the beautiful hills/land and a hot tub where you can relax as you gaze into the stars. The room itself was well kept, clean and all the amenities we needed. The experience of it all was wonderful. I can’t thank Lisa and Steve enough for their hospitality and accommodating us.
very comfortable, modern, love the animals, a great find
The place was spotless. Loved watching the farm animals. Wish our stay could have been longer!
My husband and I stayed at both of the properties at this location - on the outbound and inbound portion of our Big Bend adventure. We could not be happier with both properties. Our hosts thought of every detail and put so much thought into the design and comfort of each one. They were so responsive and friendly. We loved the animals on the farm and enjoyed the serenity. Either rental is an excellent gateway to the Big Bend if that is your destination. We highly recommend either property and only wished we had time for a longer stay to explore more of the local area. We did find time to get up to the McDonald Observatory for a star party and that was great! The town of Alpine is very charming too. We are very appreciative to have found these properties!
This property was very clean and comfortable. We used it as a base for trips to Big Bend. What a treat to watch the goats, chickens, horse, and birds from the window or from the large private patio.
Felt like home staying at Sierra Vista! The animals on the property kept us entertained! Thanks Steve & Lisa
We can't say enough about this property; it was exactly like the pictures but even better live. We loved the chickens, goats and the one horse. We visited them every day. The was a great location for our day trips to Ft. Davis, Marfa, Alpine and Big Ben. The drive to Big Ben was about an hour and half but we enjoyed it. I highly recommend the home; the owners did a great job in design and decorating.
We loved our stay at this house! Our kids, ages 8 and 11, loved petting and feeding the horse and other animals that are right outside. The house was clean and also really cute! It had everything we needed. The owners were lovely and always responded quickly to any questions I had. There were fresh eggs in the fridge on arrival which was a really nice touch. We also all loved the hot tub. We would definitely return to this house if we’re ever in the area again.
Excellent place to stay and enjoy the serenity. Lisa and Steve are more than accommodating. This place is a true gem. Very clean, everything inside the guest house is top tier in terms of finishes and decor. Not to mention the windows that lead to the gorgeous mountains in the background along with the animals. Hot tub and fire pit are an excellent touch. If you’re one for stargazing and being mesmerized by shooting stars and constellations at night then this is the place for you. Beyond highly recommend.
Fun, cozy, and MAGNIFICENT! We were traveling back and forth to Big Bend, and celebrated our daughters 13th Bday here. She was in heaven. Loved the view of all the animals. Stargazing from the Hot tub was a highlight for the whole family. We turned out all the lights and the sky turned on all of the stars. Loved the decor and fresh farm eggs! ( local..... out side the Vrbo). The master bed was so comfortable and welcoming after a long day hiking and canoeing. This place was laid out and we highly recommend.
The property was wonderful. The attention to detail was obvious and the whole experience was top notch. Lisa welcomed us and I highly recommend this place if you have a small kiddo who likes animals! It’s a petting zoo outside your door. The Hot tub and fire pit were awesome! We had the best time and we will return in the future. Awesome place!
Enjoyed our stay from start to finish! Close drive to Davis Mountain SP for hiking.
A beautiful, peaceful guesthouse. The animals in the property were a joy to watch. It was a wonderful place to rest and see the stars.
The fresh eggs and friendly animals were the highlight of the stay! The unit itself had everything you would need for a comfortable stay while day tripping down at Big Bend. Enjoyed spending time outside seeing the stars in the dark sky and sharing some nibbles with Thor and friends.
The stars out here are beautiful. We were staying for two night to visit Big Bend, and we could not have asked for a better experience!
This was my second time staying here. We enjoyed it so much the first time we had to come back. The inside is beautiful and relaxing, and I love being able to watch the animals they have on the property!
We really enjoyed staying at the this guest house. The layout of the house is really nice and spacious. The bed was comfortable, and the large shower and dual vanities is a plus. We utilized the kitchen for cooking and even used the grill once on the patio because they weather was so nice. Also really enjoyed having the private hot tub after a long day of hiking. The location is great to take day trips for Marfa, Marathon, Fort Davis or Big Bend, and of course don't miss what Alpine has to offer. The only downside to the location is that it's just outside of town so it's not walkable but a very quick drive to anything you need. One potential drawback could be the animals outside. There are goats, chickens, and ducks and a horse on the property, and while it is fun to see them out the window against the picturesque sunsets, the chickens do start crowing at dawn, which was around 7am during our stay. The noise did not bother me, but if you are highly sensitive to noise it is something the consider. I would definitely stay here again.
We loved staying here. The photos don’t do it justice. It is extremely clean and well appointed. The hot tub was already heated when we arrived. New furnishings. But the best part is the farm behind the property. You wake up and can see the chickens and goats and a horse thru the bay window. Easy check in. Completely lovely. And we had fresh eggs for breakfast. A stunning stay.
Honestly the casita was the best thing about our whole little weekend getaway. The hot tub under the full sky of stars, quiet, no light pollution. It was so awesome. We were greeted (behind a fence) by chickens, roosters, ducks, goats, and a sweet horse named Thor. Fresh chicken eggs in the fridge. Shower, beds, linens, towels, kitchen - so much provided and everything was awesome!
We really enjoyed this beautifully furnished comfortable guest house. The owners are nearby and available for anything you need. The country setting with farm animals, beautiful sunrises and night skies full of stars make this location delightful! Fresh eggs from the chickens was a great treat!
Great indoor space with all amenities, and great outdoor space with fire-pit and hot-tub. Chickens, goats and a horse right outside added to the unique and special nature of the place. The place offers quiet nights and star-filled skies. Located just a few miles from Alpine, it was conveniently located to offer short drives to Marfa and Fort Davis. The space inside is comfortable and thoughtfully designed; it was ample for a couple, with lots of space to snuggle or separate. Outside is a patio/sitting area to watch the farm animals or take in the mountain view. The fire-pit sitting area and hot-tub both offer seclusion and secluded views of the stars. Very satisfied with this rental and would highly recommend.
We only stayed one night and loved it. We somehow missed that we were staying on a ranch and we're really pleasantly surprised. The guesthouse is renovated to be spacious, practical and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was huge and updated, towels were soft, and there were items for breakfast including fresh eggs from the chickens that were right outside. We woke up to a gorgeous sunrise and Lisa feeding her goats, chickens and horses. We loved the experience!
This is one of the most clean comfortable VRBO's my husband and I have ever stayed in. Perfect location just outside of Alpine and for hoping from Big Bend Nat.Park and Davis Mountains. Added bonus of watching all their adorable farm animals from the deck. Plenty of little extras like coffee, cream sugar and farm fresh eggs!
The location is perfect, town is only a few minutes away for convenience but you are far out enough to feel away from everything Sadly the town seemed dead probably because of covid, but our goal was exploring the out doors and that was plentiful. The room and amenities were just right, cozy and clean, fire pit, gas grill, hot tub were all clean and worked well. This is a pet friendly location so we did find some pet hair and stains on the couch pillows, but nothing smelled bad and the bed was very comfy and clean. Host were great and helpful.
Fantastic place...super cute and loved the farm animals right off the back porch. Enjoyed the hot tub to view the magnificent starry skies!
If you are staying in Alpine, we highly recommend this place. The entire home is updated and very clean. We enjoyed seeing the farm animals as well as the outdoor fire pit. Great place to stargaze!
We really enjoyed our stay. Lisa and Steve thought of everything to keep us comfortable! We loved the farm animals; clean accommodations; barbecue grill;, fresh eggs, jacuzzi; and the fire pit. We used all of the wood one night and by the next evening they replenished our wood supply without us asking. They truly think of everything ! We will return!
My friends and I stayed a night here after camping in Big Bend. It was exactly what we needed. Comfortable beds, huge modern bathroom and appliances, washer and dryer, and cozy homey feel. Loved the big windows facing all the farm animals. We watched the sunrise from the hot tub. 10/10 would recommend.
I love that the guest house shared a wall with all the farm animals! It was so cute to see them. We absolutely loved that the fridge had a dozen of their fresh chicken eggs also! What a great touch. There were no walls (sliding barn doors and air gaps throughout) so unfortunately not much noise reduction between rooms, but the bathroom was amazing and the hot tub was relaxing under the beautiful sky. Loved our stay!
Very clean in a good location with a comfortable bed. All that and fresh yard eggs.
The pictures online don't do this cute guest house justice! We had a welcoming party of goats, chickens and a horse (behind the house) that were so fun and entertaining the entire time we were there. And the house had everything we needed and more. We cooked most of our meals. It was exceptionally clean, a great location and the property manager was very responsive. We will definitely go back and hopefully stay longer!
We stayed a night here after four nights of camping in big bend - this casita is like a spa experience. We could’ve stayed here for days...
We loved it here. Great location central to all we wanted to do and outside of town. The lenders were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed visiting with them! The patio area was perfect and the accommodations very clean and comfortable! I’d highly recommend it!
The very well appointed unit was immaculate and it is a great spot to access Bend national park or, like we did, as a rest stop on your trip across country. I loved the fact that the place has a view of the farm with chickens, goats, and a horse. ( and you can get fresh eggs for your breakfast) The owners really did a great job with this place.
My husband and I stayed at Sierra Vista for the first time over the weekend. We had a wonderful time, and the property was exactly as shown online. Its beautiful, comfortable and very relaxing. The farm animals were fun to watch.....our dog was entertained the whole weekend. It was a great venue to celebrate a birthday and relax and have fun. We're ready to go back as soon as we can. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a great place to stay. Lisa and Steve are right there to help with any needs. Great people.
We Loved this place! It is so cute! Everything was very clean and many kitchen amenities were provided. Even some great fresh farm eggs! I would definitely stay here again. We visited Davis Mountain State Park one day and BB National Park and BB Ranch State Park the next day. It is definitely doable but a lot of driving. We have a large dog that I was worried about being around her farm animals, but it was fine. Stargazing from the hot tub was an added plus! Thank you so much Lisa and Steve for letting us stay in your lovely apartment.
Enjoyed the stay in this guest house just north of Alpine. Close enough to go to Big Bend a couple of days while we were there. Lots more animals than expected- goats, chickens, ducks, a horse. The rooster will crow in the AM but is not obnoxious like some and the walls are insulated very well so you don't hear the animals except the rooster. All the comforts of city life- wi fi, good tv channels, hot tub, nice shower, along with farm isolation and dark skies at night. Would return! Oh and don't buy eggs owner provides plenty fresh.
This was our 2nd stay. We came for our 30th anniversary. This is perfect location for traveling between Big Bend, Fort Davis, Marathon & just outside Alpine. You have dark skies for star gazing and they have thought of everything you might need. The unit is very clean with nice linens. Thank you Lisa & Steve
We really enjoyed the property and the animals!
The guest house was ideal for our vacation, and to explore the beautiful Big Bend area. Just outside of Alpine and centrally located to all the places we wanted to visit including Marfa, Terlingua and Fort Davis. The desert and mountain views are incredible, especially the drive along the Rio Grande between Terlingua and Presidio. All the great reviews for this property are spot on. Very clean and well appointed. Very comfortable bed and a bathroom that would rival any luxury hotel. The chickens and goats outside the patio were very entertaining, especially at feeding time! Was great to meet Lisa and Steve? Would recommend this location and would definitely return.
PROPERTY VERY WELCOMING, LOVED ALL THE ANIMALS. WILL STAY HERE AGAIN WHEN WE ARE IN TOWN.
What a terrific stay. The property is beautiful--impeccably clean, well furnished, and very comfortable. Lisa and Steve are generous hosts: There if you need them, fun and--most of all--very kind. Their critters are wonderful diversions and well cared for. The place is convenient to Fort Davis, Alpine, Marfa, and environs. The clear skies and layers of stars made for sacred space. We hope to be back!
We loved this place. Quiet and peaceful. The property and room was very clean. The owner was so nice. Recommend highly! We will be back on our next trip to Alpine!
Loved the guest house, property, and animals. Everything was clean and we really enjoyed exploring the area. Looking forward to staying again.
Amazing communication with the owners who go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. They truly thought of everything when creating this space. Can’t wait to return for our next visit!
The property was perfectly clean and decorated beautifully. The kids loved the animals and the hot tub was amazing to sit in at night and watch the stars. Great communication with owners who always responded quickly to any questions.
One word: spectacular. There are not enough stars to rate this amazing little guest-house in Alpine. TX. From the view, to the hosts, to the animals, it all exceeded our expectations (and we were expecting a lot based on the photos). 5 stars simply doesn't do this place justice. We used this as our jumping off point to visit the Big Bend area. Truthfully, we could've hung out at the guest-house and been perfectly happy for three days. The cottage is sparkling clean and very well appointed. The care and attention-to-detail the Goynes have put into the property are immediately evident upon arrival, and their ongoing hospitality throughout our visit exceeded even the accommodations. Our kids spent 90% of their time simply watching the animals on the ranch. The twice daily animal feedings were a highlight as was getting to meet the super-friendly horse, Thor. While we used this stay to visit other parts of Texas, this is most definitely a destination property. You could visit this guest-house alone and feel as if you received a luxurious, relaxing getaway. Book this place, you will not be disappointed.
Nice little getaway with nice views of the mountains during the day, and excellent fot star gazing at night. Very clean and great communication with the owner.
This is the best STR I've stayed at! It was beautiful, more than well appointed, the owners are friendly and kind and you can't beat the neighbors (goats, chickens, ducks, cats and a dog and a horse named Thor). The owners have done a wonderful job of making sure anything you need is available - shampoo, soap, laundry detergent, coffee, creamer, condiments etc. The hottub was awesome and the star gazing from the tub couldn't be beat. The unit is private and quiet, very clean and spacious. Will definitely come back again. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
We loved the property. The apartment was clean and well furnished. The farm animals were wonderful to watch and we enjoyed the hot tub a couple of nights as well. The property is located near Fort Davis, Marfa, and the Big Bend area. Great experience for us.
I can't recommend this place highly enough. It's cozy, tastefully-appointed ranch chic at its best. The owners were warm, gracious hosts, and meeting their horse Thor was the icing on the cake. Five stars.
The guest house was very clean and provided a contemporary decor. We loved the chickens, ducks, goats roosters and a friendly horse. The hot tub was a plus for stargazing. We would love visit again for another relaxing getaway.
Love the stay. Will definitely return soon. Suvh an awesome place to unwind. Loved just chilling with all the farm animals, so relaxing. Had everything we were looking for plus some. A must stay!!!
This is a beautiful property, wonderful hosts and great price. We will certainly come back !!
Such a cute, well prepared place to stay. All kinds of amenities and the farm animals are a delight to observe. So quiet and peaceful! LOVED IT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Would definitely return
After 3 days of hiking in Big Bend, Sierra Vista was just perfect for our family to relax. We all loved to watch the silly sweet goats, horse, chickens and ducks. We enjoyed a bit of hot tub for our aching muscles. This is our first time staying in a guest house, so you will see the owners, but they are only taking care of their livestock. My only regret is that we may miss out on some baby goats soon?? or little peeps??
Beautiful property, nice, clean & loved the animals!
It is a warm &welcoming, beautifully decorated guest house. All the necessities were there. I could have spent all day watching the goats & chickens. It is a wonderful place to relax
Great property, great location, we will definitely be back.
A great place and very clean. The owners are on top of it and great hosts. Our kids loved the animals. Highly recommended!!
We absolutely loved our stay at Lisa's place. Our fence neighbors (goats, chickens, and her horse) added to our experience. The fresh eggs to cook were an added treat. The bed was very comfortable, the hot tub enjoyable, and the decor and place were so inviting. We took our pups with us and they had a great time talking to the animals through the fence. We explored Big Bend National Park during the day and were close to Fort Davis and the Davis Mountains. Here you are about a 2 hour drive to Big Bend, but it was well worth it. We highly recommend Lisa's place for a stay, especially if you have your pets with you. Allison
Creative property! Wonderful hosts. Extremely fun to watch all their animals...funny goats..lots of chickens...big Thor the horse..etc. and all of that in the fun town of Alpine. Not too far from wonderful Big Bend.
We enjoyed our stay. The chickens and goats were entertaining. The quiet and private setting was just what we wanted. Apartment is well appointed even including eggs from the chickens. Only one suggestion: a full length mirror would have helped us dress for events we had at the university.
One of the best properties we have stayed with through HomeAway. Great weekend, very nice property, quiet location and the barnyard behind the unit was very entertaining. Fire pit and hot tub were also very nice. Well designed and great place. We will return.
Very nice property.
A comfortable and homey spot with chickens and goats to watch. Clean and beautifully decorated with a great bed, fantastic bathroom and excellent kitchen. I would give it more than 5 stars if Icould!
This was hands-down the nicest place we’ve ever stayed! The cleanliness, amenities, and hospitality of the hosts made our anniversary trip one of the best experiences we’ve had. And those stars! The hot tub under the beautiful stars was amazing after a long day of activity. Thank you again again for creating and sharing this amazing place.
The little animals are right by the house and are very adorable. Great place for a peaceful getaway.
This property is a lovely place to relax in. The space is well thought out and well kept. The location is just a couple miles out from the city and is nice and peaceful. I highly recommend star gazing in the jacuzzi, it’s absolutely stunning.. My favorite thing about this place is the chickens and goats in the yard behind the house.
Wonderful property just outside of Alpine with beautiful views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We loved this property. The hot tub was great after a 7 hour drive to Alpine. The house was very clean and comfortable and the animals in the barnyard were entertaining. We wanted to visit Alpine, Marfa and Ft. Davis and this property was in the perfect location.
Beyond our expectations. Couldn't have been better.
The guest house is really spacious, clean, and well-equipped for all of your vacation needs. We loved having our coffee on the back porch watching the chickens and goats have their breakfast. It's only a short drive into Alpine, and 30 minutes to Fort Davis or Marfa. And it's dark enough at night to get in some good star-gazing!
I didn't think it was possible to find a place as comfortable as our own home. We found it with the Sierra Vista Guest House. The place was as clean and well-cared for as it looked in the photos and the onsite hosts were friendly and helpful while still respecting our privacy. We're already planning a trip back to the guest house next year!
The property was wonderful! The guest house was well furnished and private. Mountain views and close to town for shopping and dining. Would love to stay again!
From the gracious hosts to the amenities of hot tub, firepit, gorgeous interior and exterior of guesthouse I can just not say enough! The fresh free range chicken eggs for breakfast. Visiting with the animals. The goats are fun to watch. The chickens made me laugh. The Views of the mountains are wonderful. This place is a must stay. When you stay, try Cow Dog food truck, the Ritchey hotel for a glass of wine and wonderful platters of cheeses, fruits, and breads. Museum of the Big Bend is great not to mention The Brick Vault Barbeque and Brewery in nearby Marathon. We did not visit the Wasserman Wranch that has alpacas and a kangaroo as well but we did shop at the store in town. Wassermans. Great find. And if you just like to sit... bring your telescope and check out the night sky. Make a trip to Alpine and stay at this VRBO.
Cows, goats, chickens, horse, ducks, dog & cat entertained us. Hot tub was awesome. Slept like a baby! Fred yard eggs waiting for us. Very nice stay. Owners thought of everything!
This property is amazing! I'm so impressed that I'd like to make a return sometime in the future. Amazing views, a relaxing hot tub and in such a friendly town.
We were so pleased with our stay at Sierra Vista Guest House. This was such an amazing, relaxing experience. The house is comfortable and clean and we loved sitting on the patio watching the animals. Lisa is very gracious and welcoming and we loved stargazing in the hot tub.
Check in and check out were super easy, and the house was lovely. The property is also home to dozens of chickens and goats, two cows, a horse, a doggo, and an unusually chill kitty. I had almost as much fun watching the animals as I did watching the stars at the McDonald Observatory. If you're planning a trip to West Texas, I could not recommend this place more!
The rental process was easy, however VRBO did not collect some tax which then required separate arrangements with owner. The owner was very easy to work with. I would highly recommend this property to anyone and return when in the area again.
Property just close enough to town to be convenient and far enough out for gorgeous mountain views and dark skies. Unit is very well laid out and fully equipped. Sheets very good quality. Spotless housekeeping. Owners are responsive and easy to work with. If you’re coming out to West Texas this is the place to stay. Would rent again in a heartbeat.
Initially I was a little frustrated with the check in process. I think VRBO is more complicated than using a hotel room, especially trying to determine the actual cost of the rooms because of the fees involved but thats not on the owner. As for the room itself, we couldn't have been more pleased with the location and the facilities. I hesitate to brag too much or else everyone else will discover this place and we won't ever be able to return. The location is about 2 miles outside of town so its close enough for town activites but far enough to be quiet at night. It has a hot tub (which we never used) and a barnyard located behind it which we enjoyed immensely. Be prepared for a few flies being so near a barn yard but thats what goes with living near farm animals. The house sits back from a highway but at night cars passing are rate. My favorite activity is sitting on the porch at night enjoying the cool desert winds, especially after leaving the Houston heat, and just reading a book. I am looking forward to returning and enjoying the cooler temperatures and the blazing starljt nights soon..
Loved the place... Watching livestock was a nice touch.
Not only was the casita comfortable, but the stars at night were clear and bright from the hot tub, and the goats were friendly and curious, letting us pet them through the side porch fence. Henny Penny even left a dozen fresh eggs in the fridge for us! Long way of saying Lisa and Steve are wonderful hosts!
Great visit to Ft Davis and Alpine. Beautiful lodging in convenient location. Lisa was the perfect host.
Well-maintained guest house. Definitely worth staying at if you are traveling through west TX.
There is something magical about West Texas and Steve and Lisa's guest house captures it all. Gorgeous interior, well maintained premises, huge West Texas skies, and a backyard full of farm animals. Our kids loved seeing schools of chickens, goats, and ducks everytime they went outside, plus 2 cows and a very sweet horse. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in the lovely town if Alpine.
Lovely place just outside of town. Modern yet simple. Owners were friendly but not intrusive. Highly recommend.
This guest house was fantastic! Bed was top notch. Whole apartment was beautifully designed and furnished. But what delighted us were the friendly goats and entertaining chickens, ducks, horses and cows. Like a petting zoo right outside our door. You can see the mountains in the distance. Whole check in process was easy and efficient. Can’t say enough about how happy we were with this lucky find.
My husband and I were driving through West Texas moving us and our dogs to our new home in Florida and wanted to drive through Marfa. We ended up staying at Lisa’s place and it was perfect!! After two days of driving we had a super comfortable king bed and the softest sheets, not to mention the jacuzzi! It was so fun seeing the animals they own just outside the window and the stars were so beautiful!! Definitely would come back!
This is the best place to stay. It is beyond words. I will be back.
The perfect place for us. The property is beautiful, the rooms spotless and the hosts accommodating in every way.
The property was amazing and the owner was very friendly and helpful! I would definitely recommend staying here.
Lovely, well planned and cared for. Near town with benefits of country living. Thank you so much for having us.
Awesome property. Nice views of the mountains as you loom across the highway. Farm type setting. Loved it...
This place has it all, every thing you need! And it was super clean and comfortable. There was not on thing I would change about our stay there, except leaving. ;) The farm animals were a sweet touch! My husband calls me Ace Ventura, and so of course I felt right at home. We are planning our next stay already.
Our hosts have a great eye for the details in their VRBO rental. Both in terms of the layout/ furniture/furnishings/decor. All was great and made for a perfect stay. The best amenity, fresh eggs from her hens!
I stayed with my parents and my 5 year old son and we all love the stay. It was exactly what we expected through the listing on website. It was an easy process, clean, and we all loved all the animals at the property. My son loved feeding the chickens and the goats. Very nice and attentive property owners.
I've visited West Texas multiple times, staying in all kinds of accommodations and this was by far my favorite. The hosts are kind and helpful and the views are gorgeous. Would go back!
Tired of city life? Experience West Texas. This property is great & one also experiences farm living right outside the door. Imagine waking up WITH the chickens and eating farm fresh eggs! Alpine is a good location for day trips to Fort Davis, Marfa & Big Bend. Fort Davis is a must see. The views & history are beautiful. You won’t be disappointed in staying in this modern industrialized mini home decor.
Very comfortable and clean accommodations with everything you need besides food. Bed is comfy, the hot tub is private, animals to entertain you. Great location.
Nice room, nice Decour, the AC needs work very noisy. It makes sleeping difficult at night.
Comfortable, clean, large room. Great beds. Wi-Fi & usable selection of TV channels. Convenient location for driving to the Marfa Light viewing area. Owner is friendly, has fresh coffee in the reception area in the morning.
We stayed here with four people on a birding trip in April. Plenty of room and comfortable beds for all of us. Lots of barnyard entertainment. Just great.
Great atmosphere, Great Style, and Great Comfort.
Went on a overnight trip for Easter Weekend. The guesthouse is so charming and accommodating. The farm animals were a huge hit for my 3 year old daughter! Hot tub and star gazing was the icing on the cake. Don’t hesitate and book it!!
House had everything we needed and much more. The animals were a HUGE hit and our kids were in absolute heaven. We'll be back!!!
We enjoyed our stay. The whole experience was great. Perfect layout, with plenty of privacy. The goats, horse, cows, and chickens just added to the experience. Close to town and the owner's were very responsive. I would highly recommend this rental for a great experience in Alpine or visiting Big Bend.
After a 9 hour road trip We are generally too tired to do much. However, upon our arrival at Sierra Vista, the beautiful home and location served as a rejuvenating tonic to our road weary bones. The house was exceptionally appointed in a southwest modern decor. The kitchen and bath were well stocked. While the decor, furnishings and supplies are important, what made this house a “home” was the great interaction with the owners and the wonderful livestock at the back of the house. There was a horse, dog, several breeds of chickens, goats , ducks and cows. All were friendly and willing to be scratched/petted. An apple or other nourishment would not be amiss either. The whole package was a an uplifting and refreshing breath of the west.
Such a fantastic space - so comfy and inviting, and secluded. Great place to kick-up your feet and wind-down after exploring the area. Loved the details put into each unique room within the space. And the view!! Beautiful sunrise and sunset. Just can't say enough wonderful things about this special ranch retreat! Lisa was very accommodating and made sure I had what I needed. There were even some farm-fresh eggs from her hens in the fridge - made for a lovely breakfast with my cup of coffee. I hope to make it back into this part of the country again, and will definitely stay here!
We enjoyed the modern feel of the place, very tastefully decorated, and everything we needed for our stay. The farm was so relaxing watching the horse, goats, chickens, and ducks! Nice and quiet.... Hot tub was great and the stargazing was quite spectacular! Thanks for the fresh eggs!
This is a wonderful guest house with attention to detail. Very peaceful and if you love farm animal as I do, you’ll get a bonus with a horse, two cows and lots of chickens, ducks and goats! Don’t forget to ask Lisa the owner about watching “The running of the Chickens” Its absolutely hilarious!! Wonderful owners.
No stone was left unpolished in this Alpine gem of a vacation rental. Our family of 4 had plenty of room to rest and relax. Great style that was homey and appealing. The shower & bathroom are fabulous. A hot tub on the patio soothed our achy muscles after a week of hiking & camping Big Bend. My daughter fell in love with the gentle stallion in the pasture just next to the house. It was so much fun to pet the goats and watch the chickens. Fresh eggs were delicious! 👌 Thank you for a lovely home away from home on our trip!
It was a relaxing, comfortable place to stay. We will come back.
My first stay in a VRBO and it was amazing. The animals, the decor, the stars! Everything was great!
Everything about this rental is perfect, and the bed is really comfortable. You have the feel of the country but just a few minutes to town and restaurants. The fresh eggs were fabulous. Really enjoyed watching the farm animals...so much more entertaining than tv! Highly recommend this rental and hope to make it back in the future! Thanks Steve and Lisa!!!
Very comfortable and private cabin. Even with both cabins rented & the owner on the same property. Everything we need for our stay was there. The star gazing hot tub was amazing. As an animal lover the farm was a total bonus! We loved our stay & highly recommend it.
Clean and neat with a lot of character A+ location, and the owners have thought of Everything you need to make an enjoyable stay-- We had a Great Time!
My husband and I loved staying at Sierra Vista Guest House! We will definitely stay in the future! Lisa and Steve's place exceeded our expectations and more than met our needs! It's perfect because of the privacy, location, cleanliness, amazing amenities, spa-like bathroom, thoughtful interior design touches, hot tub, fire pit and best of all looking out at the animals! We didn't need the tv because the chickens, goats, ducks, horse and cows were so much more interesting to watch. It's completely evident that Lisa and Steve take great pride in offering an amazing retreat for travellers. Count yourself lucky if you book the Sierra Vista Guest House!
We LOVED staying the the Sierra Vista Guest House. Everything was really clean and had all the amenities we needed. Loved sitting on the porch and watching all the farm animals and really enjoyed the farm fresh eggs!!
Beautifully decorated and clean interior paired with an exterior stocked with barn yard animals made this an absolutely unforgettable experience for us! Will definitely stay here for any future trips to Alpine and will be recommending to others!
I will definitely stay here again when we are in the area!
This was our second time to stay at Sierra Vista Guest house. Wonderful place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of real life. Great location to make day trips to Big Bend and all the surrounding areas. Very clean and comfortable, owners are very nice and respectful of your privacy. The hottub under the West Texas Sky is just something you will have to experience yourself to understand. Will be recommending this place for years to come.
Super clean, spacious, beautifully built property. The owners are extremely nice and friendly. They are easily reachable by email or phone. The animals are tons of fun. Highly recommend this place! We hope to come back.
My family and I stayed here for New Year and we had a wonderful experience. The owners were welcoming and helpful. The lodging is cozy and well furnished. The bathroom had two large sinks and a large shower. There is one bedroom but the couch sleep two more. The kitchen and living areas are nice and we spent a lot of time there during some icy times outside. More than enough room for two adult and two teens. Wonderful experience all around. The Guesthouse has a hot tub right out the front door with plenty of privicy. The porch and Guesthouse also have access and view to the barnyard and various animals. They are not intrusive at all as long as occasional animal sounds don't bother you. The rental is a few minutes from town so shopping and eating is easy, but it's far enough to feel away from everyone. We highly recommend this rental.
The property was perfect for a relaxing getaway! The barnyard out back is adorable, and the hot tub at night is perfect for stargazing. I’ve already recommended this place to several of my friends and family.
We loved the location, decor and the community of Alpine. We traveled to Big Bend National Park which was a nice day trip. Planning a family trip or getaway for two at Sierra Vista Guest House should be your first choice. We loved the fresh eggs provided by the family chickens, we made best french toast and omelets.
Beautifully decorated and comfortable place. We loved the animals that all came to greet us! Thank you so much!
Comfortable and relaxing, just minutes from town
We stayed last year for a girls trip and some of us returned this year to relax, feed and watch the animals and enjoy Alpine. Lisa and Steve are very responsive and hospitable. They have put together a great guest house with everything you need....amazing views, comfortable and easy accommodations and a homey atmosphere. We will likely come again and again!
One of our favorite experiences ever! The house was designed and decorated with with such thought, care and great taste. The amenities were top-of-the-line, and the accommodations were pristine yet comfortable. The farm animals made our stay that much more fun and special! The hot tub, fire pit and grill in the private patio were amazing! Cozy and rural but just about 5 minutes from town. We will def be staying here again! Lisa was fast and flexible with communication and check in/check out.
The guest house was amazing. Well equipped and comfortable. The retro farmhouse decor was well done! The grounds and room was well maintained and clean. The barnyard out the back was a hoot! We loved watching the animals. It is just the right distances from Alpine to still be quite and centrally located to other areas. We will be back!
We loved this little guest house. It was perfect for our family of three adults. Our son slept in the living room and said the couch/bed was comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed and there were a dozen farm fresh eggs in the full size refrigerator. The bathroom was huge, including the walk-in shower. But my most favorite part was the array of animals! There was a cat and dog, a horse, two moo-moo cows, a handful of goats, and dozens of chickens. I loved having my morning coffee on the porch talking to the animals and spending the evening in the hot tub under the beautiful west Texas sky. Again, LOVE this place and wouldn't hesitate to stay again, when in the area.
We loved this property for a five night stay. It is upscale with great layout, finishes and furnishings. King bed was most comfortable. Very convenient for day trips to Big Bend, and shorter jaunts to Marfa, Marathon and Fort Davis. Anything you need is in nearby Alpine. We particularly enjoyed the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross University (and its free!!!) Barnyard animals were a treat to watch from inside or outside. Owners were great hosts. Highly recommended.
This was an excellent place to stay. It's so much fun with all the animals right outside as well. The interior is amazing and so comfortable. All the amenities are top notch. Lisa and Steve are great hosts!
The home is probably one of the best and cleanest homes we have stayed in. Everything has been thought of for your stay. Couldn't have asked for a better get away and we will definitely be coming back.
The Sierra Vista Guest House had everything we needed. It was comfy, relaxing, private, and super clean. Thanks to Lisa for being a fabulous host and ensuring we had a lovely night. Watching the animals on the farm was best part. It was so relaxing to us and our little yorkiepoo, Stella. The goats and chickens were friendly and greeted us all. I highly recommend this Airbnb. We stay in them quite often and this property is everything it said and more. I wish we would have stayed more nights.
This place is amazing. So many things to do right at the house...fire pit, jacuzzi, horses, cows, chickens, goats, that kept us laughing. Better than the TV! House was very clean. Incredible walk-in shower. Nothing was left out. Clean, clean, clean! Don't stay anywhere else in Alpine!!
This was our second year to visit. It is a great place to get engaged :) and holds very special memories for us. Lisa and Steve are perfect hosts. We are already looking forward to next year!
Terrific top-notch place to relax, unwind and enjoy Alpine and surrounding areas. Amenities are plentiful: kitchen, den, bedroom and bathroom are extremely well appointed. My stay was wonderfully restful and I will definitely consider staying again the next time I'm in the area.
We loved our stay at the Sierra Vista Guest House. The home was very clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. We cooked dinner and breakfast most days, and the kitchen was sufficiently stocked for our meals, and had farm fresh eggs! We really only spent some time in the mornings and got in late in the evening, but loved coming back from our long days out to the guesthouse. We got so much enjoyment out of watching the chickens and goats meander in the back yard! We would stay here again!
This was a great rental. Decorated so beautifully and just the right size for 2 people. I loved the animals being right out your door. Great views and the kitchen had everything you need to cook out. Will definitely visit again.
I was in a rush when I booked this property, only needing a place to stay for one night while picking our daughter up from camp. I did not fully read the reviews and description. We arrived exhausted, to a beautifully relaxing place. Everything you could possibly need is inside and every detail from inside the home to the rocks and plants on the walkway are immaculately placed. We were thoroughly entertained by the goats, chickens, horse and calves running around! We were able to love on the animals while enjoying the view. Owners are on property and very nice. The property was easy to find and the views are awesome. We will be back.
The property was clean and spacious. Our hosts were very accommodating. Can't wait to visit again soon!
We enjoyed our stay at the Sierra Vista Guest House! Property was very clean, beds comfortable and kitchen was well stocked. The farm fresh eggs from the property owners hens were a big plus. This property is on a farm and being able to pet the horse and goats was awesome! Will definitely go back!
We loved the animals, hot tub with amazing night sky watching and the casita was clean and well appointed. We will be back! The owner was very responsive and friendly.
Still the best Guest House?Room ever!
We booked so we could watch our son play baseball at Kokernot field. Only 4 miles away from the field. Lisa was a great hostess! We had fresh eggs every morning. It was fun watching the goats, chickens and horse. The hot tub was great too!
This place is beyond description. It is large, comfortable and decorated wonderfully. It is conveniently located right outside of town. Everything you need is there. Absolutely awesome.
This place was awesome. Very clean and accommodating. We will definitely book again.
This guest house is wonderfully decorated and so clean. Kitchen is well equipped with anything you need to cook. We visit the area often and this is by far our favorite place we have stayed yet.
Lisa was the perfect host for our quick stint in Alpine on our way back to Austin. The property was so nice, clean, and comfortable/perfect for a night of rest before a long drive home. Lisa even went as far as to give us 2 dozen fresh cartons of eggs from the hens on the way home! Would recommend this property to anyone, and hope that we can come back and visit again!
We hope to return in the future
My wife and I visited West Texas about a week ago and spent some time in Alpine. Lisa and Steve were great host and the place exceeded our expectations. The patio at night was a fantastic added feature with hot tub, privacy and a relaxing setting with gorgeous views of the stars. The interior was new, clean and beautifully designed. If we are ever in the area again, we will stay here.
Very nice property. Quite well furnished and very comfortable. Has all the high tech amenites. The owner, Lisa, was a gracious host. We particularly enjoyed interacting with her farm menagerie. Will definitely stay here again while in the Alpine area. Highly recommend for anyone traveling with a pet or a small family. Thank you Lisa for the wonderful stay.
We loved our stay at Steve & Lisa’s guest house! Very accommodating and comfortable. Thank you!
Once again, Lisa and Steve were perfect hosts. While we appreciate the privacy of Sierra Vista, it has been delightful to visit with Lisa and Steve and to have them available for assistance when needed. The room was spotless and contained all the necessities for a comfortable visit. The ranch animals were entertaining and the Spa was superb. The cold, clear nights are perfect for star gazing in the Spa and we were lucky enough to be there for the Lyrid Meteor shower on April 21-22. We look forward to our next visit in July. Still our vote for best Bed and Breakfast worldwide.
Hosts we're great. Place was darling. Loved the farm animals.
We stayed here with our two teens and wish we could have stayed longer. Lisa is a wonderful and welcoming host. The place is beautiful and very comfortable. We had the bedroom and the kids were on two built in couches in the living room. Everything was very cleverly designed. The views are amazing and the hot tub and fire pit are so nice that we hardly wanted to go into town. The animals on the property were a bonus and kept our kids entertained, but you could also ignore them easily if you’re not an animal person. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Helpful to love critters, which we do... very open, modern and organized, all the kitchen needed an then some fun to watch farm in motion out windows The drive from Marfa not too bad and Alpine is cool too!
We were greeted immediately upon arrival by Lisa. She was very welcoming and kind. The guesthouse was amazing. It was beautifully decorated, clean, and had every amenity one might find necessary during their stay. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
The property itself is incredibly comfortable and well thought out, and Lisa is a wonderful host. The location was also great for us. This was our first (but definitely not last) visit to west Texas, and this was a good central location—just under two hours to Big Bend Ranch State Park, a little more than an hour to Big Bend, 20 min to Fort Davis and Marfa, and 45 to the observatory. And wherever we roamed, we always looked forward to coming home to a restful night at the guest house. Definitely a five-star stay.
This guest cottage made the perfect launching point for my wife and I to visit the Big Bend area. The cottage is spacious, clean, well stocked, and comfortable. Most anything that I say will likely only be repeating the accolades listed in the many other previous reviews. This really has to be the best place to stay in the area. The only additional advice that I might offer is that this property is best suited for early risers. The goats will definitely serve as your alarm clock every morning. Overall though, the animals do add to the relaxing atmosphere of the cottage. Shadow is just the sweetest dog, and greeted us at the gate every time we came home with a happy face and a wagging tail. We would not hesitate to stay here again, and would certainly recommend this property to friends and family. Thanks so much to Steve & Lisa for providing such a great place to stay in Alpine. We certainly hope that we get another opportunity to visit soon.
We will stay here again! Very peaceful place, no intown noises!
Lisa is an awesome hostess. Her lovely home away from home is complete. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay down to the farm fresh eggs!
What VRBO dreams are made of. The modern farmhouse decor, supremely efficient and beautiful space were enviable. Thanks Lisa & Steve.
Very clean and well thought out guest house. Fully set with good appliances and comforts of home. Bonus chickens, goats and a lovely horse. Just minutes from downtown Alpine and short drives to Fort Davis, Balmorhea, Marfa and much more. Perfect fit for 2, but does sleep 4.
The house and grounds were beautiful and so peaceful! The welcoming committee of the gentlest horse on the planet and his many chicken and goat friends made simply arriving at the property a treat. We loved watching the animals graze mere feet from the windows. The house is beautiful and comfortable and the amenities are well thought out. Despite being located pretty much in a barnyard, the place is somehow spotless. We even got a fresh egg from the chickens, and our younger son loved helping feed them. The only thing i would change is the orientation of the fridge doors so they open toward the wall. Obviously that’s a tiny thing lol but truly this place is perfect for just relaxing or for a jumping-off point for day trips to Fort Davis, Balmorhea and even Big Bend. We can’t recommend this house enough. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
I re-read the reviews to see what I could add...and the answer was nothing. Previous reviewers commented on how well-thought-out the design was, and they are absolutely right. We were amazed at how effectively Lisa and Steve have used the 660 square feet. Everything is durable and functional yet still stylish (a hard trick to pull off). The large windows overlook the animal enclosure and watching the horse, goats, chickens and occasional visitors (bunnies and quail) is hypnotic. I had no idea we could spend that much time just happily watching farm animals graze, sleep, and play. Lisa told me that their goal had been to build the best guesthouse in Alpine. They have more than succeeded. We've been staying at vacation rentals in the US and Canada for nearly 20 years, and I'd put this property in the top five for comfort, convenience, and value.
The photos are just what you get; eclectic rustic industrially decorated. Comfortable but not over done. The only thing we needed was a snow shovel. It snowed for about 2 days, 5-6”. Thor the horse and the goats kept us entertained through the large windows in the main room as they roamed through the snow. (The chickens stayed in the barn!) the acoustics of the home are great, we never heard a rooster before about 8:00am. Will definitely stay again if out that way. Great central point for Big Bend, Ft. Davis, MacDonald Observatory, Marfa Lights, etc.
THE LOCATION The guesthouse is situated perfectly between the McDonald Observatory and Marfa, TX (we spent time at both). We enjoyed the city of Alpine as well. THE HOSTS Lisa and Steve are delightful! They are easily accessible on the property, yet we felt we had tons of privacy to do our own thing. It was great fun to watch them feed the chickens, goats, and horse each day. And although this can not be guaranteed to future guests -- we got to hold three-day old baby goats! THE SPACE It is a lovely guesthouse. It is clean, has great lighting, and a warm, cozy feel. We slept, fed, and entertained four adults very comfortably. We cooked several meals in the kitchen, which has a great layout and lovely cooking tools. The bathroom is luxuriously spacious. The living space converts into beds for two in the evening. in the daytime, the bench couches look out into the farmyard. We enjoyed watching the sun rise and set over the farm yard (and the mountains!) each day. We used the hot tub in the evening (with all of the lights out) to see the stars in the night sky. we could even see the milky way clearly.... can't wait to visit again!
I only wish I could give a TEN star review for Lisa & Steve's, perfect in every way, guest home~ This cottage could not have been any more well thought through. We had everything we needed at our fingertips. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is large and luxurious, the bedroom is perfect with a KING size bed, lovely crisp linens and intentionally designed for travelers. Outside is just as great. The patio is private, with hot tub, fire pit and gas grill. Around the corner is a barnyard/pasture with lots of chickens, goats and Thor the horse. I don't know how Lisa and Steve keep the animal area and house as spotless as they do, especially in the desert. The views with the mountains in the background are spectacular. Five minutes to Alpine. We are already planning our next trip and it definitely will include lodging at Sierra Vista~Thank you for a wonderful, restful, and relaxing stay~ Kathy & Chris~
We spent our 7th Anniversary at the Sierra Vista Guest House from 11/06/2017 - 11/11/2017. Property is clean, modern, and cozy. Photographs of the property truly reflect what it is. There is farm animals in the backyard. Don't worry, they are harmless and separated by a fence. Location of the property is pretty great. Very near town. Would have liked if there was a fence door at the entrance of the walkway in case you wanted to release your pets temporarily. Overall, very nice place and good location! Thank you Lisa and Steve!
We absolutely LOVED this place! We were greeted by Shadow the dog, Aggie the cat, Thor the horse, and about 50 goats and chickens. We had smiles on our faces the whole time. The house is immaculate and incredibly comfortable, and sitting in the hot tub under the stars was the cherry on top. I can't say enough how much we loved this house.
Moments after stepping out of our car we knew that this guest house was going to be outstanding! From the turn into the property, to the walkway to the entrance, this piece of Texana depicts West Texas with style and class!! The bed incredibly comfortable, the linens top notch and soft, a hot tub under the BIG SKY full of stars, fresh eggs in the morning, is there anything else to say? Yes there is, Lisa. By far the most gracious hostess we've encountered and we are well seasoned VRBO'ers! We WILL be back, having gained a friend in Alpine.
This property was simply amazing. My husband and I wanted a last minute getaway and this property was the perfect choice. We enjoyed the beautiful decor and the entire layout. We enjoyed being able to relax in the hot tub as well as the relaxing morning view of chickens and goats! We didn't notice when we booked but they do have a bbq area that would be great to grill up your own steaks and relax on the private patio. We only stayed one night but this place would be perfect to stay longer. The kitchen is beautiful and they provide dishes, pots and pans, and even baking dishes! We were truly amazed at the beauty of this property and at such a great value!
This was perfect for our quick stay in Alpine. It was nicely decorated and had everything that we needed.
This cottage is welcoming and comfortable and has everything you need. The beds were the best! It was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed hanging out here. It's super comfortable and so nicely decorated. Lisa and Steve were so nice and the yard eggs were delicious! We loved feeding the goats, chickens and horse. The hot tub is a very nice one and we loved it! This has been one of my favorite home away rentals to date. We want to come back! Check out the food trucks Smoking Cuban and Thai Way while there.
I stayed here during Viva Big Bend and enjoyed every second of this place. It's clean, it's modern, it's industrial and the bathroom was to die for!!! I sat outside and watched the farm animals for hours... my favorites were the dog, and the horse that thinks he is a dog! and of course the chickens and goats... Lisa (the owner) was awesome and so sweet. She gave me fresh vegetables from her garden and fresh eggs!! If you are looking for a place to stay in Alpine, THIS is the place to stay! I absolutely loved everything about it!
What a wonderful surprise to arrive and find a new, sleek and very comfortable guest house on a ranch just out of Alpine on the edge of the Big Bend National Park. We enjoyed our stay and found the guesthouse to be comfortable and have all the comforts of home while making it possible to enjoy the great outdoors, good company with friends and all the ranch animals! We are already planning another trip!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lisa and Steve's lovely place. The accommodations were top notch and as a special, added bonus we got to watch the animals go about their daily lives. Goats, chickens, horse and dog, all doing what they do. It was very peaceful there, though Alpine was but five minutes away. We highly recommend this location.
We have stayed in many hotels, motels and Bed and Breakfasts worldwide and this simply the cleanest, friendliest and most stylish of all. This was our eighth visit and hopefully we will stay with Lisa and Steve many more times in the future.
A wonderful place to stay. Exactly what we were looking for. Thank you for a great and relaxing stay.
