Beautiful holiday rental with infinity pool and incredible views

Woodlands, Trinidad

At 'Sundowner' we offer a beautiful 2 bed apartment with infinity edge pool and incredible views.
In a unique position, overlooking the Caribbean, Sundowner enjoys stunning, uninterrupted views of sea, mountains and rain forest. You can swim or lounge around the pool or simply relax in the tropical gardens. The apartment is entirely self-contained and has a large west facing veranda, affording spectacular views of sunsets and bird-life.
Since we are atop a hill, nearly 1000 feet above sea level, we enjoy relatively cool breezes for most of the time, compared to the coastal areas. Also we have relatively few bugs and mosquitoes.
(You can view data from our own weather station at )
There are two attractive double bedrooms (with air-con), large bathroom (with American style washer and dryer) and 'Caribbean' themed lounge and dining areas - although most people prefer to eat 'al fresco' on the veranda.
The pool area also affords fantastic views. The pool itself is 16x20ft, perfect for a cooling dip and it also has an underwater seat along the infinity edge. If you need more in the way of exercise, there’s a jet that can be used to swim against and if you really want to work out we have some exercise equipment on the veranda.
The owners, Annie and Roger Williams, live at the property for the winter half of the year and are on hand to answer your questions, give advice and assistance - as will Roseanne, our housekeeper.
We also have two friendly dogs, Daisy and Jackson plus Rosemary our cat. However, none of our pets are allowed in the apartment.
Although there's a large, well equipped kitchen, we do provide some starter items for your first morning.
We operate a strictly 'non-smoking' policy anywhere on the premises.
We do not consider the property as suitable for younger children (under 8 years) due to liability concerns relating to the steep terraced gardens and the unfenced infinity edge pool area. For exploring the northern part of the island and access to the property, the hire of a 4wd vehicle is strongly recommended. We can assist with this and also with meet and greet and free airport pick-up included with the hire.

    Peaceful retreat with superb views

We had a wonderful week in Sundowner Villa in its rural Tobagonian setting looking down over stunning rainforest views to the sea. Annie and Roger were excellent hosts and could not have been more welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Annie baked delicious muffins to go with our home made granola and yoghurt on the first morning, which we ate sitting by the infinity pool, accompanied by birdsong whilst watching an enormous and brightly-coloured caterpillar demolish a bush overhanging the pool. Beds are very comfortable and the apartment is spacious with a verandah for evening sun and mosquito-free. Numerous humming birds and many other species were regular visitors to the bird feeder. We also enjoyed meeting Annie and Roger's dogs and cat, especially Jackson. They are very well behaved and not allowed in the apartment. Annie and Roger were always available to give advice and chat but also respectful of our space and privacy. The 15 min drive up from Castara/south of the island, takes a little getting used to, but is definitely worth it. Our second week in Castara down at sea level was as noisy as Sundowner was quiet, more humid and we were attacked by midges. In summary, we had a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing week in this secure, natural and tranquil retreat. We would love to return.

Had a lovely time at Sundowner in February 2018. Roger and Annie were brilliant hosts. The views from Sundowner are amazing and was a great location for us to explore the island in the jeep that we hired. Thanks for everything and would love to return in the future. Dave, Clare & James.

Do you enjoy staying in a spacious apartment with tasteful furnishings? Would you like to eat and relax on a balcony overlooking the ocean and green hills? Does the idea of an infinity pool with a view sound attractive? Can you stand the squawking of parrots and the trilling of other birds in the trees? Would you appreciate hosts upstairs who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable? Are you adventurous enough to drive a jeep on the wrong side of narrow winding roads? If you can answer those questions with a yes, you will LOVE Sundowners. Roger and Annie are incredible hosts and extremely helpful. Driving is a challenge and a rental car a must. They suggested we use Taylor's, a local car rental place, who dropped our jeep off at their place (4WD highly recommended!), and then drove us to Sundowners from the airport. Finding your way there, especially after dark, would be a challenge. We enjoyed a very pleasant week!

Sundowner is in a fantastic location, conviently positioned out of the hustle of Crown Point but close enough to civilisation that it is possible, as we did, to do activities every day. Roger and Annie are great hosts and the apartment has everything you need for a week of bliss. Sitting on the deck, drinking a Stag watching the hummingbirds hum against the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea is as nice a way to watch the sun go down as anywhere in the world!

We absolutely loved staying at this property! Our hosts were incredibly knowledgeable, kind and helped us arrange our entire trip to Tobago. The view from the infinity lined pool has to be one of the best views we have ever seen, and it made our trip extra special to be able to walk outside and see all of the fruit trees. Nothing like being able to have fresh passion fruit for breakfast! We highly recommend staying here for an incredible peaceful holiday!

Staying at Sundowner is more than a vacation. It's an experience. Renting Roger and Annie's downstairs apt, was a window into the world of Tobago, all while staying at a wonderfully immaculate, comfortable, well appointed rental with views to die for. They were open, warm and helpful whenever needed (shopping and sightseeing advice, making reservations, etc), but never intruded -- and the same is true for Spice, the on-premise caretaker. We were the only tourists in Moriah, but never felt that security was an issue, because they were there. One of the few drawbacks is that good beaches, restaurants, etc. are a minimum of a 20 min drive away. Despite that we recommend wholeheartedly recommend Sundowner, which should also be called Sunriser because, along with the sunset from our deck, we watched the the sunrise each morning from the pool area.

From Annie' s delicious home-cooked curry upon arrival to the departing farewell drinks , Annie ,Roger and Spice were attentive to our every need, whilst being discreetly in the background - ready to assist when called upon. A very well stocked kitchen and wonderful light and open planned lounge /dining area, complimented by a large verandah with spectacular views through the forest to the Caribbean - all that with an infinity edged swimming pool for cooling off.- we highly recommend this property - off the beaten track but close enough to great beaches and towns - looking forward to retuning ......soon!

This was our second stay in Tobago. Therefore, we can say in comparison, what a great location Sundowner is. It is fantastic to enjoy the view overlooking the sea. In particular, the sunsets are great there. The apartment is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable holiday. We like to use the infinity pool with its warm water every day. The chairs provide a nice resting place there. Fantastic is also the Garden this is maintained by Spice. He also provided us with fresh fruits from the garden. Through him and the two dogs we have always felt safe in the house. The dogs are very loving, affectionate and were always there. Due to the location of the house you need a car (with 4x4 because the access road is quite an litle adventure). Supervision by Taylor Rentals has worked very well, with collection us at the airport.

Could'nt wait to stay there again. On arrival, Annie and Roger will immediately make you feel at home and provide you with plenty of advice on where to go and what to see if you need it, a palm fringed beach and the warm ocean is just short drive away at Castara. Totally relaxing, a true sanctuary from the everyday rat race. Sundowners is the perfect place to unwind, but at the same time not too far to get out and about to explore the island. Then back for a quick swim before watching the sunset and relaxing on the very comfortable guest apartment's large balcony, which is also a perfect early morning spot to watch so many exotic birds feed. I cant imagine visiting Tobago and staying anywhere else - you will not be disappointed at Sundowners, missing you lots Annie and Roger, your 2 lovely dogs, Rosemary the cat and unforgettable Spice the handyman whose conversation is always entertaining.

Roger and Annie have built their home with it’s holiday apartment in a wonderful location with truly glorious views. The apartment is airy and well-fitted, we certainly didn’t need the air-con. Memories – Roger and Annie are there to help but not intrude, the birds taking their turns to eat the fruit that Annie regularly puts out, a well fitted kitchen kitchen, the views – this cannot be overstated and a great location. Then there is Spice who helps in the garden and on projects, go for a hike with him if you can. Thank you both

You will agree the photographs of Sundowner, and the views from it, are absolutely stunning, but these don't do it justice. Being there in person it is 10 times better! When you arrive at Sundowner after an 8 hour flight, all your worries and tiredness just drift away as you slip into 'Island time'. All that I want to say about Sundowner and Roger and Annie, the owners, has already been said by previous guests, so I would just like to use this review to say a great big thank you to Roger & Annie for making our stay with them a truly wonderful experience. If you are considering Sundowner for a holiday...then go ahead and book it, you won't be dissappointed, I have no hesitation in recommending it.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Sundowner. After a long day of travelling, we arrived and we were amazed with the beautiful and spacious apartment. Every detail is perfect, the kitchen has all the appliances you may need, the 2 bedrooms are most comfortable and well decorated. A home- made lasagna was waiting for us in the oven. What more can you ask for? Next morning it became even better. When we saw the infinity pool with the amazing view on the mountains and the ocean, with parrots and all kind of birds flying over our heads... Our sons of 13 and 19 had a great time, we used to take our rental jeep and visit the different beautiful beaches, waterfalls and other sights and in the evening we played games or used our laptops (highspeed internet is great). Roger and Annie are wonderful hosts, they were very attentive to our needs. We will definitively come back one day.

Having lived in Tobago for several years running a guesthouse, and moving back to the UK a year ago, I wondered how It would be returning for a holiday on the island. No worries,' Sundowners' was fabulous and Annie and Roger the most wonderful hosts. I loved their pets who are all perfectly behaved, and chatting to Spice their handyman was entertaining. I really enjoyed sitting on the enormous balcony watching the parrots fly over, surrounded by beautiful flowers and foliage, with stunning views and brilliant sunsets - total relaxation. The apartment is great, very spacious, cool and comfortable and very well equipped. My large bedroom overlooked the beautiful pool, which enticed me every morning, with the sun sparkling on its water. Sundowners location at Moriah is about 20 minutes from Scarborough, not far from the sandy beach at Castara, and the rain forest is a short drive away. For me the location is perfect for a relaxing 'get away from it all' holiday. Annie and Roger get top score for making my holiday so perfect, and if its your 1st visit to the island their knowledge will ensure that you see the best of the island. I would recommend 'Sundowners' to anyone who is looking for a totally relaxing vacation, with hosts who will really look after you. Cheers Annie and Roger for a magic holiday!

Having just returned from Sundowner It gives me pleasure to write this review and share my experience. My partner and I had the most wonderful time and this is down to the hosts Annie and Roger and pets (Polly,Sally and Daisy (the dogs) and Rosie (the cat),who made us feel very welcome indeed. The apartment itself is large, clean and very well equipped. The large terrace is an amazing place to relax and take in the stunning scenery and birdlife and has incredible views to the south west across the Caribbean sea. The infinity pool and area is superb and just right for cooling off in the heat of the day. Annie and Roger are the perfect hosts, Thankyou both for making our holiday very special. If it's a relaxing, refreshing place you're looking for we would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sundowner. It really doesn't get much better than this..Go enjoy! .

We have recently returned from Tobago having stayed at Sundowner. Annie & Roger were lovely hosts & really make the stay all the more special. From the beginning of the process when booking our stay, Roger was very helpful & booked a car for us through his contacts (a car is a must when staying on Tobago). We arrived late in the day, therefore Annie prepared a lovely homemade meal for us, we were then thoroughly spoilt with a homemade breakfast of chocolate & banana muffins the next morning! Sundowner is a very comfortable home from home with everything you need and more. There is a balcony with amazing views of the sea (which I am missing right now as it is a lovely place to eat breakfast watching the birds and taking in the view) and a pool that also has amazing views of the sea and surrounding areas. The pool is a smaller pool, however this has a jet that enables you to have a decent swim (make sure Roger shows you how to use this) Dog lovers will appreciate Annie's love of three very friendly dogs & one cat that live with with them upstairs. Annie & Roger are lovely people who really cannot do enough to ensure you enjoy your stay. Having the perfect mix of knowing when to leave you to it, or being there for a glass of wine on their balcony watching the sun set and a chat. Also with their local knowledge they booked places to eat or gave recommendations of where to visit. Our only reason for the 4 star review is that it is not walking distance to places to visit and the pool is a little small. However that is a good reason to ensure you explore the island. Thank you Annie & Roger for a lovely stay!

Sundowner is a great appartment - all you could want in terms of location to explore the whole island and an appartment that has been thoughtfully and cafeully designed as a holiday appartment - and the pool was a great bonus - the view is truly lovely. We ate in most nights as after a full day sitting on the terrace with a beer was a great way to tnd the day. Roger and Annie were on hand with good recommendations of places to go to eat and see. We loved Tobago and we loved the appartment it was very hard to come home. ,

Annie and Roger were fabulous hosts. Upon arrival Annie provided a hot meal, fresh baked bread & muffins, fruit from the property and groceries to get us started. Roger was kind enough to pre-arrange our rental car for the week, which we completed on-site at the apartment. Very low stress! Having Annie and Roger as a resource on our trip was invaluable - it was nice to have someone watching out for us. The apartment was beautiful and well equipped for our needs. The location was beautiful, and we wouldn't have had it any other way, but it is a bit remote from some of the conveniences that we are accustomed to having. Driving at night is not an option, so we missed out on Sunday school in Buccoo and other evening activities. However, at the Sundowner, we enjoyed watching the sunset each night, and early to bed so we could take advantage of the sunlight for our adventures. The house was full of candles, which we enjoyed for very romantic evenings. One of the hightlights of our trip was a hike through the rough vegetation from the apartment to a isolated beach below with the Sundowner's caretaker, Spice. Spice was very friendly and shared some great experiences with us. Don't plan a hike without him...there's lot of bushwhacking - not for the faint of heart (or out of shape)! When we visited there were 3 dogs (Daisy, Holly, and Sally) and 1 cat (Rosemary). Even if you are not a fan of dogs, I could not believe how well trained and behaved they were. We had to beg them to come visit us so we could pet them! The infinity pool was incredible, although a bit cold for my taste (January visit). The only thing we missed was a TV with a DVD library to watch movies at night...fortunately we had a laptop and one of my Netflix movies :) Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation. Thank you Annie and Roger for making our trip so special.

We stayed for 2 weeks at Sundowner on our honeymoon in August 2010. The place was truly amazing, location, space and of course Roger and Annie! The accommodation is ideally located in the middle of the island, meaning nothing is too far away and it's close to the best beach on the island...Englishman's Bay! The apartment is amazing, the photos do not do it justice. We walked in and our first words were 'WOW!'. Even though there is so much space inside, we spent most of our time on the verranda, with views of the rainforest and sea and the sound of birds. The best part of the whole experience was meeting Roger and Annie who were the perfect hosts, advising and helping us about where to go and how to get there. Also Annie's cooking and Roger's cocktail mixing added to the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere at Sundowner. Other highlights include: the pool, which was truly amazing-whatever the weather!; Bruce's car hire which was much needed and organised through Roger; the apartment being kitted out with everything you need and more; fresh fruit breakfasts prepared by Annie and not forgetting her fantastic home made muffins! We cannot speak anymore highly of this amazing place and it's owners and would whole heartedly recommend it to other couples looking for a get-away from civilisation where you'll be spoilt by everything the island has to offer. Thank you, Matt and Naomi

We enjoyed a two week stay at Sundowner in May 2010. We agree completely with all the positive reviews that have already been written for this home-from-home. It must be the best equipped villa we have ever stayed in (which is quite a lot). We were made welcome from the start by Annie and Roger and the dogs and Rosie the cat although none of them were intrusive! Access to Sundowner is slightly remote/rural and we were glad to take up the owners advice about hiring a car and being driven to the house from the airport on our arrival. It is well worth the journey - the views of the sea and sunsets are amazing and the altitude of the house means its cooler and breezier than properties nearer sea level. We were not particularly adventurous rather preferring to find shady beaches to catch up on our reading and simply relaxing in the sea. There are so many choices of delightful beach and we found that most were very quiet with very few tourists apparent. We left England with a coalition government to find that election fever was also prevalent in Tobago and another coalition came into power. One very positive aspect of the campaign was the resurfacing of a lot of the roads around the island which are in a much better state than the ones back home after the winter snows. I don't think we could consider bringing our grandchildren to Sundowner as the garden is very steep and the drop from the pool quite alarming! It is a lovely house though with plenty of space for four people and, importantly, a large covered terrace to enjoy the open air. As well as a large table and comfortable chairs on the terrace there were also several exercise machines but we felt we shouldn't wear them out. We're very happy to recommend Sundowner (although as a previous reviewer has said - please don't book it when we want to return!).

Chillout and enjoy the views at Sundowner.

If you lead a busy life style and you want to do nothing more than relax and appreciate tropical, undeveloped paradise for a week then this is the place for you. Sundowner sits up on a lush forested mountainside with spectacular 180 degree uninterrupted views to the sea and glorious evening sunsets. There are beautiful little bays and sleepy coastal villages within easy reach - but to be honest we found it really hard to drag ourselves away from the fantastic infinity pool, the sundeck and those magnificent views. The apartment was beautiful, a real home from home - comfortable and spacious it had everything we needed and much more. Every day we would spot different types of tropical birds from pairs of parrots swooping and squawking along the mountainside below us to humming birds buzzing about the passion fruit tree at the pool. The property is gated and fenced and we always felt completely safe however this is not a place to bring young children as there are some steep drops. The real gems of this holiday were Annie and Roger the owners. Always helpful but never intrusive they were always on hand to help and give advice on such things as places to visit, things to do, the weather forecast or restaurants. Annie is a great cook and we especially recommend trying some of her homemade muffins and bread. You will need to rent a Jeep to get around and Roger arranged for the renter to take us from the airport to the property, stocking up at the supermarket on the way. Annie and Roger were so friendly - we really enjoyed swapping stories and sharing a drink with them on the Veranda, we especially loved the occasional company of their very well behaved dogs Polly, Daisy and Sally. So if you want to get away from the tourist trail and sample the unspoilt delights of the real Caribbean then Tobago is a great place to go. Tobago is much smaller and safer than Trinidad, the people are friendly and life is slow and simple. Restaurants on the island are typically quite basic but there are some great places to eat and the whole island is within reasonable driving distance of Sundowner. Roger and Annie will be happy to point you in the direction of the best restaurants, we particularly enjoyed the fish pot and listening to evening surf at the Seahorse Inn.

We were greeted as friends, and the relationship remained throughout our extended stay. Roger and Annie were helpful and happy to recommend beaches and places to eat when we didn’t feel like cooking. The apartment is very well equipped with all you need for home from home living - the dogs and cat made it for our teenage son! What a wonderful place to be stuck due to volcanic ash! Annie and Roger were truly wonderful when we found our flight was cancelled, they put us in contact with helpful Brian at the airport and said we could continue to stay at ‘Sundowner’. Our extra 9 days were spent making the most of the sunshine and little beaches. A car is essential and Bruce offers a really good airport collect and return service with his car hire, ask Roger for details. We could recommend the Fishpot restaurant in Mt.Irvine for a nice meal, and the Boathouse at Little Castara for friendliness and a romantic setting, sitting under the palm trees watching the pelicans dive to feed as the sun sets into the sea.

Roger and Annie made us feel so welcome as soon as we arrived, in fact we felt we knew them before our arrival, such were their e-mail communications. Everything, but EVERYTHING is provided in the exquisite accommodation on the ground floor of their 2 storey home. We felt very safe with their knowledge and advice, their 2 dogs and the gated property. Wonderful views out to sea from the pool area and sunset from the verandah is ideal while enjoying a 'sundowner' before dinner. The only sounds were the chatter of the birds and the distant echo of an occasional dog barking. Stonehaven Villas (lunch only as our budget didn't run to dinner) and the Fish Pot were wonderful places to eat - very different from each other, but both with their own particular charm. We are only sorry we do not live nearer to Sundowner so that we can return before too long. Thank you Sundowner, Roger and Annie for reviving two exhausted souls ready for the next onslought of work!

We stayed at Roger and Annies beautiful apartment for the last week in Jan 2010. The apartment is large, more than adequate for two couples and well furnished with a very large modern bathroom and kitchen which was well used as we did much of our own cooking, often using wonderful fresh fish easily available daily from local fishermen at ridiculously cheap prices. The high spots for us were the truly amazing views from the large balcony where we spent much of our time, and from the infinity pool where we swam daily and consumed many beers gazing out over the Caribbean towards Trinidad. The balcony is above a lush garden with uninterrupted views over the sea, and has adequate seating and tables for lounging and dining. Roger and Annie could not have been more helpful, providing a welcoming meal and loaning us a barbecue which we used most days for cooking on the balcony. All the windows are fitted with mosquito mesh and the open aspect above the sea provided a lovely cooling breeze such that we were never uncomfortably hot, a huge bonus to us Brits. We had a hire car which is essential as the property is rather remote and Roger organized this locally at competitive rates (we checked). We also ate locally and can recommend Madalenes in nearby Castara. The property is well placed to explore the beautiful beaches of Englishmans Bay and fishing village of Parlatuvier which we loved, and only a short drive from the Forest Reserve where we greatly enjoyed the rainforest walk, and the lovely Charlottville and Speyside in the north of the island. It is an ideal base for exploring the island. We can hardly recommend Roger and Annies place, or indeed our hosts Roger and Annie, too highly.

Our stay at Sundowner was one of those very memorable events for us. The accommodations were wonderful. The place was very clean and in excellent condition. Annie and Roger did everything they couldl to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The infinity pool was a rare treat, rivaled only by the incomparable sunsets. They suggested a great Italian restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed. All, in all, you cannot go wrong with this great retreat.

We stayed in this wonderful apartment from 18th to 25th November 2009 and it’s impossible to do it justice in only 2500 characters! Firstly, the owners Roger and Annie are so welcoming that you feel as if you are staying with friends rather than in a rental. They provide invaluable local information and lots of laughs as well. We arrived late, but Annie had cooked us a delicious chicken pie. Security can be a problem in isolated rentals in Tobago, so it’s a real advantage to stay somewhere that is a proper home - plus the added benefit of three lovely dogs Polly Daisy and Sally (even though they are real softies and incredibly well behaved!) The location of the house is amazing –you feel like you are living in a tree-house in the rain forest. It’s much more authentic Tobago because you are literally off the beaten track. If you love birds and wildlife you will be in your element. We got up every morning at 5.00 am to watch the bats hand over to the birds and the dawn chorus begin. You’ll be serenaded by feisty little house wrens, chirping banaquits, tropical mockingbirds and very noisy chachalacas. The antshrikes with their punky hairdos were a favourite of ours, and there was a beautiful jacamar always on the same branch hunting butterflies. Lying in the infinity pool watching a humming bird drinking papaya flower nectar just inches from my face was another high! And there are red squirrels at the bottom of the garden. It’s great to have all the amenities of a home-away-from-home, with washers and driers so you can launder your clothes after muddy rainforest treks and salty snorkelling trips. There’s everything you need in the kitchen, and it’s such a pleasure to sit on the verandah having supper under the stars. You will need to rent a car here, but the location is really good for visiting all points of the island. Road signs can be in short supply (the locals all know where they’re going!) but people hang around at the crossroads and are happy to tell you the way. We recommend any of the boat trips, where you’ll be visited by dolphins and swim with the gentle manta rays. A trip to Speyside and the Little Tobago bird reserve is not to be missed where you will see red-billed tropic birds, brown boobys and ospreys. We hope to come back to Tobago really soon, and thank you Roger and Annie for a wonderful stay.

We're conflicted about writing this review accurately because if we tell you how good it really is, you're going to book it, aren't you? And we want it to be fully available the next time we're able to visit. Which we hope is very soon. This is what we've told our friends. What was great about it is that we felt that we were living in real Tobago rather than in a resort. We bet that when you make that first drive up to Moriah you'll wonder where on earth you're going to end up. And then you'll be shown the view, and the infinity pool, and it will take your breath away. And you'll realise that there are stunning, quiet beaches only 20 or so minutes away, and you're on the edge of a rainforest. And there are coconut trees the other side of the verandah and mangoes falling. Fruit will arrive on your balcony for breakfast. Parrots - yes! - may fly past. Get up early and listen to that dawn chorus. The accommodation is excellent. We're parents with two teenage daughters, we're pretty well-travelled, we stayed for three weeks and we'd rate the comfort factor at Sundowner very highly. We enjoy cooking, and everything we needed was there. And there's reliable broadband, which we needed for work while on holiday. What did we like best? Rastafiarian fishermen at Castara. Bread baked in a traditional oven at Castara. Pirate's Bay. Scarborough market. Tobago music. Sunday School at Buccoo. Nylon Pool. A day's sail on Island Girl. Local food at local food stalls. And that gorgeous Sundowner pool! Oh, and Sally the knock-kneed dog. But the main advantage for us was the presence of Roger and Annie, who are extraordinarily kind and good fun, there with advice, sunblock, gin and tonics, mangoes in the morning and advice on the weather all through the day. And will go the extra mile to make your stay perfect. Ok, we loved it. Just don't feel you need to book :)

    Perfect place for a sundowner!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Sundowner for 5 nights and I have got to say that it was absolutely the best getaway we had. The setting of the villa is so romantic and the views are just breathtaking! The villa is set on the edge of mountain overlooking the sea, we had BRUNCH almost every day out on the veranda since we slept so well who could get up for breakfast! The accommodations are not like a hotel, it is well equipped with everything you could possibly want, it feels like a home. If you do need anything just give Annie or Roger a shout and they would be more than happy to help. The dishwasher was definitely appreciated since we made quite a mess cooking at night and who wants to waste time washing so much dishes! There is also a washing machine and dryer which in my books were essential for a long stay. Annie I assume was responsible for the eclectic decor and the great attention to detail from the bedrooms to the bathroom! There is no television but they do have internet access and a radio for your use as well as board games and a bookshelf full of great books. The infinity edge pool is a great place to spend the hot afternoons with a nice cold drink and I can bet money you cannot find a better view anywhere else on the island. The location of sundowner was a bit tricky to navigate the first couple times but we got the hang of it! Really though nowhere in Tobago is that far! It is approximately 20 minutes from Scarborough and about 30-40 minutes (depends on your driving) to Crown Point. It is ideal for exploring the NE coast since Castara is a mere 15 minutes drive from the villa! Perfect spot for exploring the off beaten track. Roger and Annie are just the most generous and gracious hosts, along with their 3 well behaved dogs and the cutest little cat called Rosemary! I would definitely recommend Sundowner to anyone who craves serenity and peace on their vacation.

This apartment was very well appointed with great views and very welcoming on-site owners. There was just the 2 of us but it was plenty big enough if there had been 4 as there are 2 good sized bedrooms and heaps of storage as well as a huge fridge freezer and washer and drier. We really valued having the clothes washing facilities as we'd been on a birding tour first and really needed to wash lots of clothes and having them also meant you could rinse and spin your swimming things after you came home from the beach. And unlike many a self catering place they had all the soap, washing liquid etc etc provided too. The property is lovely and just as per the photos. The pool was almost, but not quite, finished but that didn't bother us as we swam every day at Castara Bay - which for us was the best beach as it is relatively close and is gently shelving. We were given home made bread, muffins, cake, yoghurt along with milk, cereal, butter, juice, jam (jelly), etc. and home grown fruit - e.g. passion fruit. So whilst it was self catering the provision for breakfast was excellent. We had dinner with Roger and Annie the night we arrived and as we are vegetarian they made us a veggie meal taking into account a range of foods I also cannot eat. We were only staying 3 nights so having so much provided was a real bonus. I cannot emphasise just how friendly and welcoming Roger and Annie are. They will offer you a chat and a drink, but if you just want to be left alone you have your own private space. We would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay centrally within short driving of beaches, towns etc. If you like birds plenty visit the garden - ant shrikes, house wren, yellow bellied eleanias, blue grey tanagers, chachalacas, to name just a few and had views over wooded hills and valleys which were visited by orange winged parrots and out to sea where the frigate birds soared. We hired a car, not sure if you could get by without one as we didn't check evening buses. We had a car big enough to put all our luggage in the boot (trunk) out of sight, and the car was a little large for the track to the villa and the parking, but that wasn't a major problem. With such good clothes washing facilities you don't need to take too much with you so less suitcases means smaller car posible! They do have 3 dogs and a cat but they are unbelievably well behaved. I am not used to dogs but found them to be no problem at all.

A superb place for individual tourists

We had a great time on Tobago with the Sundowner having a large influence on this. We really enjoyed having such a great accommodation! The view from the infinity pool is actually stunning! We also enjoyed eating fruits like passion fruit or mango which we just got from the plants growing on the Sundowner property. Spice is a very nice housekeeper with having to tell a lot of interesting stories about Tobago's nature and the living on Tobago. We also enjoyed the very friendly and well-educated dogs Jackson, Daisy-Mae and Lizzy as well as Rosie, the cat! No doubt, we will recommend Sundowner to anybody who is interested in a vacation on Tobago. Thank you again for making possible a really enjoyable stay on Tobago.
