The property was mostly run down! The shower was nasty! We were not given a secure access to the property through code or key once we checked in. We were initially let in remotely. We could lock up when we were there, but we were told by the host to leave the door unlocked when we left. He said he secures the property 24 hours a day and he wouldn't let anything happen when we were gone. (There were outdoor cameras.) We were very uncomfortable, but went out for a bite to eat anyway. When we returned the door that we left unlocked was locked. We couldn't get in! The host had to let us in remotely again. Then he asked us to remove the batteries from the door. Our son went to bed on an old uncomfortable futon/couch. We got ready for bed, I went into the kitchen and discovered a 360° light socket camera above the refrigerator! I couldn't reach it to unscrew it, so I turned it to face the wall. Knowing that there was a camera and that we were potentially being spied on...freaked us out! VRBO's policy states- NO cameras or recording devices by the host are allowed inside the property at anytime. We didn't want to approach the host about this since we were extremely creeped out. We had a kid with us! We called VRBO and they contacted the host. I think he may have told them that the camera was in a common area! He sent a text asking us to unscrew the camera and put it with the door batteries. No thank you!! By the time we got that text we were on our way to a hotel!
