More details:
Paia Bay Suites is a new vacation rental offering in one of Paia’s most desirable locations. It sits on Loio Place, a side street which is oceanside of the highway yet is just a short stroll from the heart of Paia Town. It’s a great location for guests wanting to be close to Paia Town and the ocean.
Paia Town is an eclectic town with a mix of locals, surfers, New Agers, evangelical Christians, hippies, monied people, working folks, artists, snowbirds, Buddhists, and more. It was a rough plantation town that is now transitioning into Maui’s hippest beach town destination.
The property consists of a two-story cottage on a large fenced lot close to the ocean of Paia Bay (it is not oceanfront).
(Beware of unlicensed vacation rentals. Maui County is preparing enforcement operations against unlicensed operators which may include closures with limited warning to travelers. Paia Bay Suites is fully licensed and your booking with us is secure.)
No Drugs, No Drama
Perfect place. Prime location to walk 2-3 min into town anytime and also easy access to beaches. A good starting point to explore the island.
This was our second time staying in this great upstairs apartment. It has everything one needs for a comfortable stay, with a view of the sea and a deck for a sunset drink.
This property has a fantastic location! Within a short walk to Paia town and beaches. Yet, it is in a quiet neighborhood, removed from the noise and sometimes, chaos, in Paia. There is a beautiful view to Paia Bay and the ocean. The unit is well stocked with everything you will need. Especially the kitchen. The owners were so welcoming and very responsive to any inquiries. I would highly recommend this property!
Great instructions, service, location, hosts. Everything I could have needed was available. Highly recommend.
Experienced , friendly and proffesional renters
My husband and I enjoyed our 2 week stay in this wonderful cottage. We spend lots of time on the deck in front of the cottage overlooking the ocean and surfers. 5 minute walk to the town of Paia and short drives to the snorkeling and beaches in Maui. We had everything we needed and more.
We loved our stay so much and the location could not be better. Ocean views and breeze in almost every room. The suite was also stocked so well with everything needed for a long stay. So sad to leave and will definitely return.
We had everything we needed in this sweet little condo. The view of the waves at Paia bay were fun to watch. It's an easy five minute walk to but far enough away to feel so peaceful. Everything was nice and clean and the property manager was very helpful and quick to respond to my questions.
Lovely quiet property (except for those morning 🐓🐓- but can't help that !!) Well maintained, loved the deck, nice modern bathroom. Walk to town & the point for spectacular view of Paia Bay Beach. Looking forward to staying here again
45 Loio Pl is the perfect Paia spot to stay, quiet and yet walkable to everything. Listen to the surf with windows on all sides of this cozy, bright apartment. So sweet!
This was a great home base for our Maui adventures. Walking distance to Paia shops and restaurants. Very clean and well appointed. Would stay again 10/10.
A stunning property downtown Paia! Great and responsive owners. We will be back!
Have stayed here twice, still love the location, view, and simple/comfortable space.
We had such an amazing stay at this Paia property. The management company was so quick to respond to questions and check in when we arrived. The home itself exceeded expectations! Not only clean and welcoming but ocean views and proximity to town made our trip with small children luxurious. They had everything we needed to accommodate our family and we loved listening to the ocean and enjoying the property and our time chatting with Benny who lives downstairs, she’s a gem!
Location couldn’t have been better! Nice to see 98% of people wearing masks 👍🏻
Pros: Wonderful view, walking distance to restaurants and the beaches, good A/C, good water pressure, no TV, and clean bed. Not an issue for us but possible Cons: it's on the second floor, the washer/dryer space is hard to see at night, next door is going under construction now so it can be noisy especially during the week. Over all, we really enjoyed our stay in Paia with much less crowded beaches and we will stay at this property again!
Great little perch in Pa'ia! Has everything you need!
We are so glad we decided to stay here. We are 100% coming back. We stayed for three nights. That was a big mistake. We should’ve stayed longer. This place is so open and big and clean and conveniently incredibly close to downtown.
We’ve been here a few times and my wife says it’s her favorite place in the whole world. All the windows create great lighting and ocean view is awesome. Quiet. Short walk to Paia, also quaint!!! I wish I could buy it!!!
This place was the perfect spot for our Maui trip. Short walk to everything in Paia, easy access to the roads that take you everywhere else. Very quiet for great sleeping when you're done exploring for the day. The antidote to huge impersonal resorts. Will try to book this again for our next visit. Thanks!
What a wonderful cottage! The sights and sounds were unbeatable. It was clean and comfy. Good wifi. Beach towels to use. A small and larger cooler were there to use as well as 2 beach chairs (we used often). There is a washer/dryer downstairs to use. Queen bed was comfortable. Coffee maker and some coffee to get you started. This a 2nd floor cottage. Perfect for a couple (us)! The cottage grounds were well kept, beautiful and green. The downstairs resident was a joy. Super sweet and great suggestions. We tried Mana Foods (market) because of her and had the most wonderful macadamia pie, fresh bread and fruit. Wonderful Ocean views. We would sleep with the most all the windows open and a wonderful breeze and ocean sounds. Rarely used the AC but thankful it was available. A couple mins down the road there is access to the ocean, it is rocky. 5-8 mins around the corner beach access through Paia. The opposite of Paia is Kaulahao beach. You can see turtles relaxing on the beach (keep your distance). OGG-Airport is 15-ish mins away, Kihei is 25 mins away and Lahaina about 45 mins away. Road to cottage is right off Hana Highway. Thanks for the great stay we will be back!!
Away from the noise, hustle and bustle, you can enjoy the serenity of an ocean view and a wave break from this property. Yet, a short three minute easy walk brings you to all that eclectic Paia has to offer. Nothing could be better! I highly recommend this property.
Perfect spot for Maui
comfy unit and located in nice location in relation to the town. Walkable to shops, restaurants, bars.
Views of Paia Bay and stunning sunsets . Excellent place to stay and able to walk to the little town around the corner. Highly recommend this one bedroom that has quiet air conditioning for hot afternoons. Plus has new appliances and new washer and dryer available.
Staying here was really comfortable, the location is great, and the view is hard to beat. The kitchen was well equipped - just wish I would have packed some spices for some of my cooking! Bed was firm and the bathroom was big!
We had an incredible time in Paia at this amazing home! Inside it was beautifully decorated and updated, with a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. The bedroom was cool and the living room and porch had amazing views of Paia Bay. The location was perfect - just off the main street and within walking distance to multiple beaches, including our favorite, Baldwin, and all the shops and restaurants of Paia. It's also centrally located in Maui, with most towns and beaches less than an hours drive away. We loved our stay here and will hopefully return!
Paia Bay is a wonderful place to stay! It is charming and just the right size for my husband and myself. It’s in a great location, off of Hana highway but a short walk into town. We loved it and will be back again!
Perfect place that suited our one month vacation. Everything we needed was there. All parts of the island were easily accessible by car. Easy few minute walk to eat or get groceries or to get to a beach. Great view of beach and very enjoyable listening to the surf as we relaxed on 2nd storey porch. Loved the privacy and the fact that we weren’t in a packed tourist condo resort.
I almost hesitate to write this review as I don’t really want too many others to know about this little gem. My wife and I have rented several other places in/around Paia but this is the best for a couple who wants to enjoy Maui’s north shore and the cool little surf town of Paia. Excellent beaches and lots of places to eat are within a few minutes walk. The listing is very accurate, so one should have a good look at the photos and description. It’s simply but comfortably furnished, the kitchen has everything a vacationer is likely to want - it also doesn’t have something that we never use in our normal life - a TV. The windows give you a nice breeze and especially also give you the lovely sound of birds all day. Thanks to Alyson who was extremely welcoming and helpful and a great communicator.
This lovely apartment is located in a quiet neighbourhood. It has all the amenities for a comfortable stay. There is a large lot stretching to the ocean. One can hear the surf. Interestingly the surf runs sideways because the house is situated on the side of a bay. When one wakes up in the morning the view out the spacious windows is of trees. There are windows on two sides of the bedroom and three sides of the living rooms. The windows open easily and the fresh air coming into the apartment is delightfully refreshing. Alternately there is AC. It is a short walk into the funky town of Paia. Also situated at the beginning of The Road to Hana. Alyson, although a distance away, responds quickly and appropriately. If you are looking to an alternative to the resort/condo option, this for you.
My husband and thoroughly enjoyed our three week stay at this property. The cottage has been nicely updated and furnished. The kitchen and living room had a lot of natural light and a nice view of the ocean. There was also a large back yard to enjoy. The location is ideal - extremely quiet, peaceful and private, yet only a couple of blocks to the centre of Paia and a 10 minutes walk to the beach. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Two things which I really appreciated was the good quality mattress, (firm but not too firm) and good quality kitchen supplies. The owner clearly put a lot of effort into the quality of this vacation home experience. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation.
We loved staying at this cottage in Paia! We stayed with our 4 yr old son and were comfortable. The short walk into town to Hana Foods, great restaurants and shopping as well as the sound of the ocean right outside our windows were great pluses!
Couldn't be more convenient to Paia, Up Country, Hana, and the rest of the island for that matter. House is in exceptional shape, and the peek-a-boo views and sounds of the ocean are awesome. We'll be back for sure!
Perfect rental!!
Good location with everything you would ever think of needing available.
This is a small place, best for no more than two adults, but it's well designed and had everything we needed during our visit, including beach towels and chairs. It was clean and comfortable. We like staying in Paia, where we can shop at Mana Foods. After traveling around the island each day, we returned to Paia to relax and cook dinner. The apartment's kitchen area was well-stocked with pots, pans and dinnerware. We're happy we stayed here.
This lovely cottage could be my dream home! Every detail perfect and in a heavenly location. I cannot imagine any better place to stay - or live - on Maui.
We had a great time in Paia . The apartment was very clean and organized . We walked everywhere to the restaurants in town and to the beaches . It was very quite and the view was fantastic . We will be back .
Loved the property and location! Was very clean and welcoming! Would definitely stay there again!
Perfect place for a couple with one bedroom, nice living/kitchen area, wonderful AC and fantastic views! We could easily walk into town and the beach. Turtles like to hang out a short walk down the path at the end of the road by the tide pools. Can't wait to come back and stay again!
The location was perfect for us! We've been staying in West Maui for year and decided it was time for a change and this beach house was great. The location was within walking distance to everything in Paia, we never used the car when in town. Centrally located to Upcountry, Hana Hwy, and Kahului/Airport. Easy drive to South Maui too. The property was perfect for the two of us and had everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely recommend this house!
Our first stay in Paia, and very happy with Paia Bay Suites. We look forward to returning.
We absolutely loved our stay here!
The property is located 2 blocks from town so it was easy to walk into town for a meal or to shop. Paia doesn't have as many tourists as the other side of the island which made it easier to get around The geographic location of Paia made for a shorter drive to areas we wanted to see. The house was clean and the furnishings were quite comfortable. We would stay here again if we return to Maui.
We will be back.
We loved our stay here, the location couldn't have been better! You can see the ocean from the living room, and the sea breeze is so nice coming through all of the windows. Just a short walk into downtown Paia, which is so charming. Allyson was extremely responsive when I had a question, and she had really thought of everything - extra beach towels, linens, chocolate upon arrival (!!!), beach chairs, toiletries, etc. We would 100% stay here again and will absolutely be recommending this place to any friends that visit Paia in the future.
My family stayed here (my wife, 2 year old son, and I) for 3 nights (which very sadly ended up being two due to a flight delay). While we never met, Alyson was incredibly responsive and helpful with all communications from booking, check-in, to departure. The property had everything we needed and was a short walk from town and the beach. I would highly recommend this for your place to stay in Pa'ia. We hope to return soon.
Beautiful property and very well appointed. The owners have gone to great lengths to supply all the amentities a guest needs
We loved our stay in every way. Beautiful view, close to town, quiet, clean, and parking. Everything was amazing. Would stay here every time I’m in Paia.
Place was great. Great views and amenities. Perfect for 2 people on a windsport getaway. Easy parking and access to Paia restaurants shops. 15 minutes or less from any launch. Perfect yard to clean, dry and re-pack your gear after a day of riding.
We stayed here for a few days, we missed the first part of the week do to a funeral. We arrived to a card and gifts to help make our stay more welcome. Waking up each morning to the ocean, roosters and birds was like being transformed to another world. We will be back! Great location, walking to Paia for shopping, restaurants and the beach.
We loved our stay at this quaint Paia Beach cottage. It was perfect walking distance to town yet seemed so private and secluded. We enjoyed doing yoga on the massive yard each morning and starring out at the water from the living room. We also really enjoyed the short walk to the end of the street to watch the turtles and waves. Can't wait to come back.
There is a reason we come back to Paia Bay Suites every year - it provides a complete break from daily stresses. Walking distance to our favorite fish restaurant, surfing and for the runners out there wonderful routes along the coast and thru the sugar cane fields.
Such a fabulous space to stay in! Lights, great views, and love walking distance while still off the beaten track. Will try to come again!
Loved this place. In town and could walk everywhere but seem far away and quiet. Perfectly set up with everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.
This was a perfectly located, quiet retreat. Always felt good to return to it at the end of the day, or to spend an afternoon reading in the sun. Nice to walk just down the street and around the corner into town — or down the path in the opposite direction for some sea viewing. Also nice to watch the tide roll in from our upstairs window. Morning bird sounds abundant. Thanks, we hope to come again.
As I opened the gate to the house my jaw dropped. It has a breathtaking view of Paia Bay and a beautiful yard to walk around in and grass soft enough to sleep on. The yard also has an outdoor shower which has warm water! So much fun! Beach access is an 8min walk. If you don’t want to view the ocean from your backyard you can walk down the one lane private street and reach a beautiful coast with a secluded view of the ocean. The home is very nice and has everything one needs. Literally almost everything was provided that we may have needed. This home was also very clean and well taken care of. We had a very nice stay to say the least and if you come check this place out please check out Mana Health Foods we walked everyday to pick up lunch.
This place was exactly as advertised. Perfect location, we'll stay there on future Maui trips!
Great cottage. Right on edge of town. Everything supplied and extremely clean. Only suggestion is a TV sure missed watching the morning news with coffee as l enjoyed the view of the ocean.
Loved the the view and the location of this cute upstairs apartment! Such a great place to chill and we really liked that there isn’t a TV because the ocean view and the sound of the waves is so lovely. We spent days at the beach or upcountry and walked into town every night for dinner. Perfect location for north shore adventures!
Very private cottage down a quiet road. We would stay here again.
Everybody has a different experience in mind for their vacation. This wonderful little hideaway was our ideal experience (a family of 3). We are not resort people and like to explore places on our own terms. The apartment had everything we needed and much care went into making the space warm and inviting. We loved being able to walk to the market and shops. The beach was a short skip and a hop. This was a perfect place to land and launch from for our own adventures about the island. Sincerest thanks to the owners for making this space available, it was magical and we were grateful to be there.
We spent 3 nights in the Paia Beach House and found it very comfortable and relaxing. We had everything we needed and highly recommend this place. Alyson was extremely responsive and friendly.
We really enjoyed staying at the Paia house. It is a short walk to town with lots of shops and restaurants. Great beaches, road to Hana, airport and up-country all very close. Apartment is nicely updated with tons of windows and a view of the incoming surf. As a bonus this apartment had A/C which made sleeping more comfortable. We would stay here again!
As above
This was our second stay at this vacation home. It is very cozy and the views are stunning. The air conditioning was a welcome addition. It is within walking distance to town. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is large. We loved this little house so much the first time we stayed here, we just had to rent it again for a few days on this trip as well. We divided our trip into two areas, north and south. The location is perfect for the north side attractions and very close to many fine restaurants. It is also in a very private location.
The second floor apartment is 5 minute walk to Paia town and a mile or so form Baldwin beach. Although small it's very comfortable and quiet. Ocean views and many windows for light and air. A really terrific deal. We would come back!
The view is spectacular none of the pictures do it justice. Alyson was great and responsive! We loved it!
My wife and I have been coming to Paia for over 10 years and this second floor cottage has been the best accommodation yet. Nestled on a quiet road on the edge of town it offers water views and short walks to the town and beach. The cottage is bright, clean and perfect for relaxing with views of the surf over the green garden. You feel welcomed the moment you open the gate.
Paia Bay Suites has a great location, it’s a short walk to town or beach . It’s clean and well decorated and stocked with all your needs for Maui.
we enjoyed our stay.like to have the news no tv . was disappointed. great location.
We loved this place! Everything was perfect. We spent 3 days here celebrating our honeymoon after staying in Kīhei with our original wedding party. Absolutely beautiful view, very peaceful, and in our favorite city on Maui! We definitely recommend staying here!!!
Location was excellent. Quiet, down a small street from downtown, very very close to everything! Could not ask for anything better. We definitely want o come back to Paia and stay in the exact same place. We only wish we would have booked more time there!
This is a beautiful, secluded home, conveniently located near Paia town. Sit at the kitchen table, look out the multiple windows, take in the view and hear the waves. It's a short walk to town and the beach. It is delightfully decorated. Parking is secure. Furniture is comfortable. It has all the amenities and then some. We would stay here again and highly recommend.
Great house in great location! The views were AMAZING and it was so great being able to walk to town or to the beach. We loved every minute! It was truely an absolutly highlight -quiete street, beach front, walking distance to town. Lucky to have stayed in this wonderful place on Maui! Your home is highly recommended! Thank you so much!
Great property and you just can't beat the proximity to waking to all the great shops and restaurants. Would stay here again in a heartbeat
We had an amazing time in this lovely property. The location is perfect for a short stroll into town and the property has everything you'd need and was really well setup. I completely recommend it for a stay!
Perfect location i.e. in the center of Paia and without the noise (except the ones from the nature;-). Nice and comfortable flat. Nice view. Nice host.
My wife and I loved this apartment in Paia. It had everything we needed during our stay with an amazing view of the water from the living room. The property was only a few minutes walk to the heart of Paia and 10 to 20 minutes to two great beaches. We would highly recommend staying here to any couples!
We stayed a week and it flew by - what a great little rental! It has amazing views from the deck, is clean & comfortable, and is situated in an ideal location - walking distance to town and to the beach. It was a perfect size for my husband and I, and our 18 month old son. The owner also made a pack n' play and high chair available, which was extremely helpful.
Peaceful setting with a great view. Unit is very well appointed, clean, comfortable furniture, especially the bed. Loved the welcome basket. A little gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Paia but just a few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants when you need them.
Great location: Beautiful views. Quiet, except the Roosters.
We really enjoyed our stay at the house in Paia. It's a very cute, nicely decorated place with terrific views and walking distance to the main drag.
Perfect combination of proximity to town and feeling of seclusion when we were home. Hope to be back soon!
Our stay in Paia was wonderful due in large to our stay at Paia Bay Suites. The home is so conveniently located to walk right to town. The cottage had everything we needed along with ocean views, bay breezes and the sound of crashing waves. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Property has a Lovely view of the ocean
Thanks for this wonderful stay ! Iman and Patrick
Clean, quiet, quaint, private, well stocked, view of the beach, easy to locate, ideal location. We went to Ho'okipa Beach and watched the waves and people. Great mix of families and locals and sufers. A good amount of parking but never hurts to get there early or late in the day when people are leaving. We had the fortune to see a Hona- sea turtle come up on the beach to rest. Mana is a grocery store just a short walk from this place. It has a good selection and fair prices for health food items. In the same day we drove the first ten miles of the road to Hana.
Had a great time staying here for 3 days while in Paia. The place is exactly as described in pictures, the hosts communicated well, and the location is very convenient to everything in town. Highly recommend.
Very comfortable stay, great location, nice touches with coffee and chocolates supplied, Needs a bit of a spring clean outside of building verandahs, windows and stairways need a good high pressure hose, fly wire door needs replacing. Expected a bit better for the price.
The location of this house is perfect. The view is perfect. You are within walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops. Aly was great to work with. I would highly recommend anyone coming to Paia stay here!
We really enjoyed our stay at Paia Suites. The location is ideal and the house had everything we needed. Very clean! Alyson was very accommodating and quick to respond. I would recommend this place to any couple as it is the perfect size for 2! Pomegranate mojitos at Flatbread Company, sangria at Cafe Des Amis, fish and chips at Paia Fish Co. -- all highly recommended!
Our visit was excellent and the property was exactly as advertised. Wonderful location and quiet dead-end street. Hassle free, very clean and updated. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great get-away! Thanks!!
The place is very quite, clean and beautiful. The management is very great. Very nice and friendly manager. We spent a part of our honeymoon there. And I wish we could spend the whole honeymoon there. Delicious and organic breakfast with homemade cookies. Brilliant experience!
The house was just as it says it is, and Allyson was really helpful. Lovely views, clean and tidy, and a short walk to the shops and the beach. We recommend the Paia Bay Cafe for good cappuccino and breakfast, and the whole food shop is of course fantastic. It's the rainy side of the island, but that made it cooler and comfortable in the evening for a good sleep, and on the rainy day we simply drove over to southwest Maui where it is nearly always sunny. Handy to have a car on a rainy day, as nothing is really that far away. We drove over to jump off Black Rock - parking is free in Whaler's Village shopping centre if you buy $20 worth of anything there - which is pretty easy to do - some goggles and sunscreen did it for us. On another day we drove out to the east side by Hana and went to swim and cliff-jump at the Venus Pool (there is a handy Maui guidebook in the closet!). Kihei was pretty boring and Lahaina really busy, both of which make Paia seem like a lovely little town. We'd stay there again, it was a good find.
This place is an absolute dream. From the front room, you get stunning views of Paia Bay all day long, and you are just a short stroll to the center of Paia town with all its shops and restaurants. Walk the other way, and you'll find a lovely cliff walk where you can watch the sunset. Alyson and Marc are gracious hosts and very responsive to any request or questions you might have. We couldn't have asked for a more restful place to stay on our vacation.
This trip was our third to Maui. Previously, I had visited for work, but this trip was for relaxation....and this little gem was the perfect place! I travelled with my husband and 3 month old. I felt secluded, yet safe. We listened to the waves birds and geckos every evening and morning. Property managers were incredible in dealing w one small issue upon arrival. Much prefer paia to other areas of island due to small size, central location, quirky charm, and now because of this lovely loft. Already planning my return for next year! Thanks so much for making this trip my best yet
This vacation rental was just what we were looking for since we like quieter places away from touristy crowded locations. The upstairs cottage was perfect for a couple, full of light, and a beautiful view from the deck. It was an easy walk to town to shop, pick up groceries at Mana Foods, or have dinner. An added treat was that it was on a quiet dead end street with a path at end that took you out to the craggy shoreline to watch sunset and waves crashing on the rocks. Paia town can be bustling during the day, but the shops and restaurants close up early; your only choice for night life is Charlie's, which usually has some form of entertainment and draws quite an eclectic crowd. My only suggestions to Alyson are to fix the screen door, put comfortable chairs and table on the upstairs deck since the view there is so, and mention in amenities that there is no TV. Alyson was very accommodating to us when I realized that we didn't have a TV. I highly recommend this cottage to those of you who want to stay on the quieter side of the island; you won't be disappointed.
We enjoyed out stay especially the living room of the second floor apartment. The views are of the ocean, palm trees, and the neighborhood. With windows on three sides, the natural light is really nice and all the windows open easily letting in a pleasant breeze. A simply, well-equipped kitchen made it easy to shop at Mana Market and prepare meals at home and the center of Paia was a short walk away.
We had a great stay. Quiet, with the sounds of the beach outside. Truly a lovely place. Close to town. We'd definitely come back!
We were not sure what to expect when we rented both the upstairs and downstairs. But we were pleasantly surprised with this quaint, somewhat rustic cottage. Our grandkids loved the place, especially the views from the upstairs apartment. We stayed downstairs in a comfortable bedroom with a handy kitchen, very big bathroom, and a couch in the front area. The upstairs has a fabulous seating area...very New England, with wrap-around windows. Everything is very clean and there are lots of linens and towels. The laundry machines are very upscale, but a bit difficult to find at first. (Look under the stairs in the closed shed.) We loved meeting a curious little gecko in the area. Cheeky little fellow. Perhaps, the best part is the pathway we found at the end of the alley leading away from the house to a wild view of the ocean. Simply gorgeous. Also, there are ponies in the pasture across the road. And town is a short walk away. Absolutely love the managers, Ally and Marc. Very pleasant folks. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
The property is much mote secluded than I thought- it was like being in the country with a minute walk to everything you need! Most homes are on top of one another, but the lot next to the home and across the street are vacant (cemeteries). Besides roosters crowing we didn't hear any noise. We expected to be pretty far from the ocean as well but had a great view and could hear the waves crashing. Home was clean and well appointed. The only negative was that the bed upstairs was a little uncomfortable. We stayed with another couple and it was perfect!
The property is a nice, affordable place for Maui in a great little town with many things walkable from the unit. We enjoyed the shops, restaurants, and bars in Paia, the beach was a short walk away, and we were on the road to Hana so we got a jump on many other tourists if we left early enough. The upstairs unit gets a lot of sun and wind if the trade winds are blowing. The lower unit is a bit less sunny but still functional if you are renting that as well. It was a little tricky to remember all the codes associated with the gate and doors, especially if you have a large group like we had (4). There is a great little spot on the rocks just northwest of the unit where we saw a great sunset and watched the waves crash in for hours. The only problem is that we had a few issues with the water heater and there was some construction that caused that water to be shut off for a bit while were there, which also included blocking off the only road to the unit. The road to the unit is very dark at night too, and not exactly greatly maintained. The screens doors were also hardly functional, but the security doors still worked fine. It would've been nice to know about these things more in advance. However, the property managers were very helpful and responsive if any issues came up. A few key recommendations: Mana Foods was surprisingly affordable for organic, natural foods store The Poke at Tobi's Shave Ice was great, albeit limited options Flatbread pizza place was great
Located on a quiet street with quiet neighbors....watching waves cross the bay... Very close walking distance to Paia town especially to Mana foods, could not be better versus having to drive and find parking etc....I was amazed how quiet it was and still so close we were to Paia town. there was four of us- two above and 2 stayed in unit below and it worked our perfect for all of us. Place was very clean and had all the needs one would want in kitchen upstairs. I would definitely stay again. I live on the big island and was delighted by the entire experience. Highly recommend!
My husband and I had a wonderful few nights at this delightful beach house. The decor and amenities were simple and tasteful. The location just a stroll from the village and beach was perfect, especially for gorgeous sunsets. The view from the upstairs verandah was amazing and we had the perfect base for road to Hana and Haleakala Crater. Both Mark and Aly were very helpful and easily accessible for information. Would highly recommend and we would love to stay there again.
We had a great stay! Comfortable house, great location. We walked to town and the beach. I highly recommend it.
It is a nice house with enough space for 4 people. The location allows to walk to all things to do in Paia - we liked to avoid going with the car! A little suggestion for improve: the moskito screen door could be improved.
I stayed in the upstairs unit. It is amazing to wake up each morning to ocean views and be able to take a leisurely stroll to town for morning coffee, groceries, shopping, and dining. The property is located on a private drive and is very peaceful. Amenities provided were perfect, and I really felt at home. I appreciated supporting a local family business versus your typical invesent properties where you work with a management office. Aly and Mark were great to work with and easily accessible for questions that came up. I will definitely book again on my next trip to Maui! Mahalo & Aloha! Picture is of the full moon in July from the lanai upstairs.
The lodging itself is very nice (small), but the setting is too good to be true. The View of the Bay, the short walk to the surf and tide-pools where the turtles swim and lounge around don't seem possible. The short walk into town and the quaint, high quality grocery store are awesome. I think I'll walk into town and get our next meal...3 times per day sometimes, sort of European. Yard and outdoor BBQ and table make for a much larger living area. The town and beaches are awesome. The downstairs dwelling is rented only for the upstairs usage, and we used it. What great flexibility to be able to invite guests at such an affordable extra.
The house is tucked away on a side street just past the hustle and bustle of Paia. I quote hustle and bustle because Paia is a very quaint, friendly, locals town that welcomes you with arms wide open. We walked everywhere very easily and enjoyably. The coffee shops in town are open early enough to grab a snack to go for the Road to Hana which begins right outside of Paia. Paia is perfectly situated for easy access to Haleakala, road to Hana attractions and the airport. We visited the Fish Market, Flatbread Co and Cafe des Amis all of which were fantastic in their own way. The stores in Paia are wonderful for window shopping and actual shopping. Wings and Indigo were two of my favorites. The house was perfect. We had a party of five so we took the upstairs and downstairs. Both were in fabulous shape. Brand new windows made it easy to enjoy the breeze coming off of the water feet away from the house. Plenty of towels and wonderful linens. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. The water filters provided made it easy to refill canteens all day. Felt safe the entire time. The gate in front of the house closes and locks for privacy. Highly recommend Paia and couldn't have been happier with this house!
Paia was the perfect central location for our visit to Maui and this beach house met above and beyond our expectations. Everything was clean and comfortable and worked! The back yard was private. I could do barefoot yoga on the grass! It was a daily ritual to get coffee in town just a 2 minute walk to one of many places. Mana market was awesome for provisions. The location was also a central starting place for all our jaunts - planned and improvised. We had a wedding in Makena, a lunch in Lahaina. We went to Hana for the Taro Festival. The crater. Even on the complete chill out, lazy day, we couldn't have asked for a better location. The Hodges were also very accommodating in their communications. I'm very grateful to have been able to book this place for our vacation and would recommend it highly.
Well organized, clean, walking distance to Paia, close to the ocean.... beautiful, very well managed - we will be back again!!! an oasis away from the touristy west and south coast. The only thing I would suggest is keys instead of number locks for house doors and covers or top sheet for the duvet. Some of lawn sprinklers need resetting, as they are soaking towels on cloth line in yard. We stayed with our two teenagers. We ended up using the kingsize bed downstairs and the teens had queen upstairs. I wish the king bed would be upstairs.
ein sehr schönes Haus in toller Lage mit stilvoller Einrichtung
Our vacation started in Paia at this great duplex. My wife and I had the upstairs suite and our teenage kids had the downstairs, and it worked out perfectly for our group. Both suites were spotless when we arrived, and the back yard was nicely maintained and a cool place to hang out in. The views from the top floor were excellent, so if you only rent one floor, do that one! Also, the location is truly ideal - it is far from the tourist traps of the west and south coasts, but is central to almost everything there is to do in Maui. The town of Paia is a blast with all its shops, cafes and bars, and is just a short walk from the house. The closest beach is about a 5 minute walk, and is a nice, non-touristy place to relax. By the way, when you leave the house and go left towards the dead end rather than right towards the Hana Hwy, you'll come across a beautiful field with horses, and a path that takes you to a breathtaking rock outcropping above the ocean - bring the camera! All in all, this place easily gets 5 stars for its cleanliness, living arrangements, proximity to the great town of Paia, great views, privacy, and reasonable pricing. If we return to Paia, renting this again will be a no brainer.
Paia Bay Suites is a fantastic homebase for your next Maui vacation. The property has everything we needed and was comfortable and clean. We rented both levels with two couples and had plenty of space. The location is ideal for short distances to most Maui activities like the Sunrise at Haleakala, Road to Hana, south beaches around Wailea and only an hour over to Lahaina and the west cost for beaches as well. It is also just a 15 minute drive to the airport for convenience. We loved having the charming and fun town of Paia within walking distance as there are plenty of good dining options, shops and bars. It is also just minutes to the famous Mama's Fish House where we had one of the best meals of our lives. Overall, this was a great rental at a great value and Aly and Mark are very responsive and helpful. I highly recommend staying here.
I'm a bit late writing this review, but wanted to share my wonderful experience with others. This was my second trip to Paia. The first time, I stayed in a hotel, which I likely won't do again now that I know about this adorable upstairs/downstairs duplex. My husband and I stayed in the top unit, and my mother-in-law stayed in the bottom unit, which was a perfect set-up for us. I am a stickler about cleanliness and found both units to be nearly spotless, which is rare for beach properties. Photos are accurate. The home is located in Paia, which is a laid-back, walkable town, filled with great little restaurants, and shops. Mana Foods natural grocery store and Flatbread Pizza Co. are not to be missed-- we even had a celebrity sighting at Flatbread Pizza while we were there :) The tasteful decor, pretty hardwood floors (upstairs), comfy couches, nice balcony, lush green lawn, and great views made the house a great home-base where we were happy just hanging out if we were too tired to hit the beach. The property felt completely safe and secure. Even though the entrance is on a little alley, we always saw friendly/waving neighbors and children walking/playing in the alley area. In the interest of being 100% accurate, I'll say the only off things I noticed were in upstairs bathroom: a tiny bit of mildew on shower curtain (likely unavoidable considering open windows + humid sea air) and curtain gapes at the bottom where it meets shower-stall tile. Water puddles would get on the floor if you weren't extra careful with the curtain and you'd need to use precious towels to soak up. Perhaps a longer curtain would fix that, but not sure if they even make them longer! Those are very nit-picky items; NONE of that would discourage me from renting this property again. Nice place, great value, responsive and responsible owners. 100% recommended.
We spent 3 beautiful days at Paia Bay Suites.
This was our first time in Maui for us. What a beautiful place to stay! Very clean and comfortable. We stayed for a week and felt so lucky to be there. Kitchen was wonderful. Bedroom and Bathroom so comfy. Open and airy. So comfy! Place was cute was amazing. Location was perfect. We walked down to Paia every day for groceries, dinner, coffee, drinks, lunch, bike shop, etc. Close to the beach. We left all the windows open at night and could hear the beautiful sounds of the waves. From the upstairs we would drink our coffee in the morning and look out across the water. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will absolutely stay here again the next chance we have.
Feel so fortunate to have picked this particular property It exceeded all expectations....the managers Marc and Alyson were incredibly attentive and kind. They could not do enough for us; they also offer an amazing guided day trip to Hana...be sure to check that out! The property was so beautiful and well maintained on the inside and outside Very cosy and welcoming...all the conveniences of home and more Beautiful decor, cosy bed, perfect kitchen and spa like bathroom We enjoyed breakfast every morning out on the patio, with stunning views of the water Only a 5 minute walk to the fun, quaint town of Paia and a 10 minute walk to the beach Mana foods was awesome for a go to healthy supermarket; great hot meals and salads to bring home to the house We really can't say enough about our experience....just book it!
What a beautiful property. Everything was so convenient and met all of our expectations. It was really clean and had everything we needed! The owners were great to deal with over email. This was really one of the very best stays we have experienced. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants a fantastic vacation experience.
First time on Maui for us, and we were very lucky to stay at the Paia Bay Suites for several weeks. We couldn't have choosen a better place. Paia Bay Suites is centrally located at the North shore, which, we discovered, offered a splendid location from where to explore the rest of the island. Need some rest? Just sit and relax in the garden or enjoy the ocean view from your living at the first floor. Like to do some shopping or see all kind of colourfull people passing by? Take a short walk (less than 5 minutes) to Paia. And last but not least, if you love to windsurf, like we do, it's one of the nearest locations to Hookipa Beach. Paia Bay Suites itself was really perfect for us, a family with two teenagers. The living at the first floor feels comfortable as well as spacious because of all the windows and the ocean view. The house is clean and nicely furnished. The kitchen is very well equiped. It feels like a real home as soon as you open the frontdoor. It is honest to say that the lower appartment is more straightforward and feels less luxurous. It did not bother us. We still indulge the memories about the privacy, the ocean view and the spacious garden. Last but not least. Alyson and Mark are doing there very best to make your holiday unforgettable.
My fiancée and I loved our two-week stay at Paia Bay Suites. I’ve been to Maui many times and knew Paia, though I’d never considered staying there till I found this rental. What a perfect arrangement. Less than 10 minutes drive from the airport. Rental is on a short street, quiet except for the early morning roosters and the sound of the surf at night. Yet it’s less than a five-minute walk to town and its restaurants (we recommend Flatbread, Cafe des Amis, Milagro, and Charley's) and shops. The rental has no TV and we were there during the NBA playoffs. No problem. We walked to Rock,n,Brew and watched the games on their multiple big screens (while eating surprisingly tasty food for a chain). The view from the living room is spectacular. The breezes flowing through the bedroom at night heavenly. The yard is large and a perfect spot for yoga and meditation. Though the property is not immediately on the water, it is a one-minute walk to a grassy point where we watched the sunset every night, while counting sea turtles in the water below. To get to the beach for a swim calls for walking up to the Hana Highway and then a few minutes more, maybe 10 total. Paia is an excellent location – especially if, like me, you want to avoid the worst of the tourist crowds. 10-15 minutes to Haiku and Makawao, upcountry Maui; half an hour to Wailea; an hour to Lahaina; two hours to Hana. The upper suite is lovely – tastefully furnished with an Hawaiian feel, windows all around. Bathroom is large enough and you can see the ocean from the shower as well as horses grazing in the land across the road. No AC – but the fans and the local breezes keep things comfortable, though it can get a bit warm on the hottest hours of the hottest days. Owner was available and helpful. Example: we wanted a baking pan and he delivered two within hours.
We stayed for a week with my husband and I in the upstairs suite and my parents in the downstairs suite. Upstairs, we absolutely LOVED the ocean view (no cities or resorts in sight! Just beach, trees, and rolling waves - just like the pictures), the wonderful bedroom with evening breezes and morning birds, the light-filled living room, and the plentiful mangoes. These are some of the best mangoes we've ever had and we multiple fresh ones every day from the tree - such a treat! The downstairs suite is much plainer, does not have a view, and has fewer ammenities, but the managers were very responsive to our request for a second coffee maker and toaster and brought them over promptly. Despite poor reviews of the nearby beach (in Maui Revealed), we thought it was lovely and very swimmable. At the rocky beach down the street, we saw turtles playing in the waves everyday. We mostly cooked and ate at the cottage, but Paia town was seconds away for the occassional dinner or lunch we felt like eating out. This was a great retreat and we'd definitely stay again.
Everyone has their version of paradise. If your version features a big hotel with valet parking, turn-down service and a big-screen TV in the room, don't stay here. But, if like us, you like a tastefully decorated, natural-light-filled cottage with a gorgeous ocean view, ocean breezes and your very own mango tree in the fenced yard, this is paradise. It's both rural and urban. Located on a quiet, private lane in an ocean-side residential area of groovy Paia, the cottage is adjacent to pasture land and trees full of birds. It's also steps to the little town and its shops and restaurants (we loved Cafe des Amis). There's no direct beach access and that's a plus, not a minus as we walked every morning to the cove at Baldwin Beach or the lane pool at Baby Beach. We stayed in the upstairs suite (spotless!) which had everything we needed for cooking, beaching, napping, etc. Great WI-FI. The owners are warm and welcoming, too.
Very clean and comfortable accommodations with an amazing view of the incoming waves. The house is down a quiet street and is less than a 5 minute walk to the heart of Paia. The host was very professional and made sure everything was taken care of on the property. The upstairs is finished much nicer than the downstairs (downstairs feels a bit like a typical basement suite) but really both are nice and best suited to be rented together. Best place we stayed in while on Maui for several weeks.
Nice property, very clean and modern. Owners are very attentive. The place needs something else though like a hot tub or a roof top deck. The beach is 50 feet away as the crow flies BUT you can't get to it as it's land locked within a little neighborhood. You need to walk through the town (Paia) to gain beach access (about 3/4 of a mile). The internet worked well, the bed was comfortable and all appliances were working fine.
We enjoyed our stay in Paia very much, walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. The apartement was just great, the view is exactly like in the pictures! Fully equipped with everything you need. I really appreciate that there were beachtowels for us. Alyson was great to communicate with, everything went very smoothly. I highly recommend this place when visiting Paia.
Gerne wieder 🌞🌴🏝🤙🌺
