Firenze, Toscana
The apartment is located in Piazza del Mercato Centrale, one of the most lively Florence neighborhoods. The apartment is intimate, tidy and furnished with design furniture, and even if it's in a very central area it's very silent. Located on the first floor of an old historical Florentine building, it has a small entrance with a writing desk, a well furnished kitchen with a right next to living room, a matrimonial bedroom and a bathroom.
The neighborhood is one of the most frequented by the locals, for the market during the day and the numerous bars and restaurants of all kinds during the night. There is a vast choice, right on the corner you can find a really famous pizzeria, a little further away many typical Tuscan restaurant. It's a varied neighborhood in its genre, very easy to visit by foot. In fact, at less than five minutes by foot there are the most renowned buildings and art works, such as the church of S. Lorenzo, the Duomo, Michelangelo's David, Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza della Signoria with its homonym building and the Uffizi.
The famous San Lorenzo market (or Central Market) every day offers fruit, meat, fish and fresh vegetables, located in its old historical building. On the second floor there is also a particular street food area where you can taste many of the Italian dishes. Numerous are the shops and stands for leather goods. Comfort is the keyword of the apartment, as also the station is only a five minute walk. Perfect for a couple!
We stayed 5 nights in this apartment. It was a good place for us, walking short distance to Duomo, Uffizi, Academia and train station. Positives: good amount of space, nice kitchen, washing machine which we needed and used for one load. Negatives, the bed was not good for me, i have some back issues and after 5 nights i was truly ready to move on, with sore hips from lying on my side on a too hard mattress. There isnt really a living room, but the two black chairs near the kitchen table are what one can sit in. Again, not the best for my back. The host Georgia was lovely and met us on arrival and gave us a tour of the place and made us feel very welcome. This apartment was apparently cut from a larger apartment so there is a strange entrance door, but no knob so exiting was a little tricky. It would be helpful to have a knob added to make entry and exit less exciting. Internet went out with storms one day and there is no cell coverage without the wifi. It was fixed next day but it was a problem the night we had no coverage because we were unabe to book train and event tickets that night from inside the apartment. Lots of nice restaurants nearby, great location. Great hosts. Improvements could be a more convemtional love seat to relax, with an ottoman for the legs, a doorknob on the entry door, and a mattress foam topper to soften the bed.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this apartment for two nights in Firenze and it was absolutely perfect! Definitely wouldn’t try to squeeze 3 people - it is truly a quaint little spot perfect for one or two. Right in the middle of the Central market, but from inside you couldn’t hear a sound. We were greeted at check-in with ins-and-outs of the area and Daniele gave recommendations of things to see and do. Francesca was easily accessible through WhatsApp and was very helpful over the two days. Everything in the unit worked properly and was clean. No complaints - highly recommend.
