Very Peaceful! The landscape is exquisite. I will certainly stay again but wifi was very inconsistent which made it difficult to work but owners were accommodating. Great family.
The property was like a 5 star resort -- Every thing in write up was just like was stated.the owners MICHAEL and BEATA were the best host .Veery close to beach (2 minute walk )Completely equipped Shopping 2 super markets -5 minute walk Beach with lovely restaurants and bars sand and surf.Every thing was perfect.
We stayed here for almost 3 weeks. Wonderful garden and pool/patio for refreshing swim and rest from any hustle and bustle you experience at a resort. This area close to the beach benefits from the ocean breezes to help cool you while you relax. We felt quite secure on the property and especially Blacky who recognized guests at the house or would bark at anything he thought needed barking at - he did his work as a dog should do :-) The owners are very knowledgeable and most accommodating to fit you in their schedule. Don't be afraid to ask. The studio is adequately supplied with everything you might need for preparing your own meals - we did this quite often. Have the local papia, melon and bananas - most wonderful. Also you won't want to throw away any Barcelo rum you buy. Close to two small grocery stores that will give you most items you might need. We didn't try all of the restaurants in the area - but the ones we went to were good. The beach area is safe and swimming or snorkeling in the pools created by the coral reefs is very enjoyable. You can rent beach lounges at very reasonable rates. Buy some fresh fruit or vegetables from one of the two ladies that wander by. They are very aware of your privacy and do not harass you for a sale. We were only approached by a couple of other venders (sunglasses or hats) and they also were very good about not harassing us. There are quite a few beach cafes - get most of anything you want to eat or drink! We would probably stay there again when we go back to Dominican Republic.
Bertha and Michael have a lovely home on beautiful grounds in Costambar. Located near the beach and within walking distance of some very good restaurants, this property is a great place for a vacation. I am a 64 year old Canadian woman and I have stayed here 3 times as it is quiet and private and suits my lifestyle. Taxis are available to go to the city to buy groceries but Jenny's Market, nearby, has a good selection of items. This property is great for older couples who enjoy beach vacations or people who know the area well and are looking for a clean, quiet place to stay.
if you want to get away from everything for a few days this is the place. the place is real close to beach, and it is just like the owners describe. the owner DoƱa Bertha lives right above and is the nicest person. she allow me to have guess except one time one there just to many at the pool ..lol... my bad. but I had a very pleasant experience. the only thing was that the place was away from everything. you need a car to visit the good places. I was very lucky because my friend Franklin drove me around and show me a real Dominican experience. he speak limited English but is a charming fellow, very reasonable and highly knowledgeable of the area. try it you wont be disappointed. I love the DR. thanks for reading this
