In 2016 there was a non census poll taken that showed that the population here had grown only slightly to 7,085 residents. This portion of Florida is part of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Statistical Area. It was not until December 31st, 1995 that this town was officially incorporated. According to the United States Census Bureau, Fort Myers Beach is a total of 6.2 square miles. 2.9 square miles of that is land and roughly 3.3 square miles of that is water. This town is also situated on the barrier Island of Estero Island. When it comes to the climate here in Fort Myers Beach it falls under the category of “Humid Subtropical.” This means that the summers will be long, very hot and often times wet.
