Sandy Springs is a midsize city in Fulton County Georgia, in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. Located just 16 miles north of the Atlanta downtown core, Sandy Springs covers the geographic area of 38.5 square miles, and boasts a population of just over 100,000. This makes Sandy Springs the sixth largest city in the state of Georgia as well as the second largest in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Sandy Springs has garnered international recognition for its unique approach to operating through a public private partnership (PPP). Through the PPP model, almost half of the city employees are actually employed by a private company. After pioneering this model, other cities in the state have since followed suit.

The Chattahoochee River flows right through Sandy Springs and its 22 miles of shoreline within the city provide an abundance of recreational opportunities for its residents. This heritage site is a popular community gathering point and often place house to festivals and concerts.
