Livingston is located in Polk County, Texas. It is also the county seat. Back at the time of the 2010 census the population here was 5,335 making Livingston the largest city in Polk County. When the city was originally settled in 1835 it was known as “Springfield.” Fast forward to the year 1846 and the name was changed to Livingston. This lake is the largest drinking water reservoir in the entire state of Texas. When it comes to the weather here in Livingston it falls under the category of “Humid Subtropical.” This means that the summers are going to be very hot and often times oppressive and the winters will be short but cold and wet. The cold season here runs from the end of November until just about the end of February. During this time the daily average high is just about 67 degrees. The average low for this time is 42 degrees. The hottest part of the year here goes for just about four months. From the end of May until almost the end of September the daily average high is just below 90 degrees. The low for this time of year is a very comfortable 73 degrees.
