Miami Shores is a pleasant coastal community in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It sits just about one mile south of North Miami and six miles north of the City of Miami. Incorporated as a village in 1932, the community was originally part of Miami, which had annexed it in 1925. The Great Depression forced the city to give up the village in 1932, when it had less than 1,000 residents. But it is still regarded by some as a subdivision of Miami. Located just off Interstate 95, Miami Shores has grown to become a community of more than 10,000 people and one that attracts many home buyers.
