Vero Beach can be found in Indian River County, Florida. It is also the seat of the entire county. According to the 2010 Census report the population here at that time was 15,220. As of a non census related poll taken in 2017 the population here had increased slightly to 16,919. So this portion of Florida has seen minimal growth in recent years but is expected to grow in the coming years due to new developments popping up all over. The town of Vero was chartered all that way back in 1919 and at that time just went by the name Vero. In 1925 Vero was officially renamed Vero Beach. At this time Vero Beach broke away from being part of St. Lucie County so it could become the county seat of Indian River County. According to the United States Census Bureau, Vero Beach is a total of 13.34 square miles in size with close to two miles of that being water. When it comes to the climate here in Vero Beach it falls under the category of “Humid Subtropical.” This means that the summer months will be long, hot and wet and the winter months will be short, cool, windy and partly cloudy. The temperatures vary throughout the year greatly. You can experience days during the winter where it is in the low 40s and days during the summer that are in the mid 90s. But for the most part you can expect temperatures here to range from about 53 degrees through about 90. The hot season here lasts for a little more than four months. From the end of May until the end of September the daily average high is just under 90 degrees. The low for this time comes in at around 74 degrees. The hottest time of the year here is towards the end of July through early August. The cool season on the other hands lasts for less than three months. From the beginning of December until the end of February the daily average high is an extremely comfortable 75 degrees. The low for this time is just about 53 degrees. The coolest time of the year here is in January. One of the benefits of living here in Vero Beach is that you will not see any snow fall which is great if you were looking to move to a climate that does not require large winter jackets and shovels. Vero Beach does receive a decent amount of rain, about 54 inches or so per year which is only slightly higher than the national average of 39 inches per year.

The economy in Vero Beach is mainly supported by the aviation manufacturer “Piper Aircraft.” Piper Aircraft is the largest private employer in all of Indian River County. They employ around 750 which makes them one of the largest employers in the area, private or public. The other major forms of employment here in Vero Beach is centered around tourism, service activities and the citrus industry. The tourism industry here is backed by Disney. The Disney Vero Beach Resort also helps support the local economy greatly. This resort is the main resort people visit when they come to Vero Beach.

Shopping in Vero Beach –

There is the “Indian River Mall” and the “Vero Beach Outlets.” These outlets are located West of I-95 on State Road 60. Here you will find tons of dining, antique shops and art galleries.

Historic Dodgertown –
This multi sport facility is located right here in Vero Beach. This facility was once the Spring Training facility of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Since they made their departure back in 2008 this facility is now used as a year round multi purpose facility for athletes of all ages.

Education in Vero Beach –
Here in Vero Beach the “Indian River County School District” is the school district your children will attend if you live here. There is a mixture of public, private and charter schools here. There are three elementary schools, four middle schools and two high schools. All these schools are either public or charter. There are six private schools here as well that range from K-12.
