Richmond is located in Fort Bend County, Texas. This area of Texas is located within the Houston, The Woodlands and Sugar Land Metro area. Richmond is 27 miles Southwest of Houston. The population in Richmond is just over 12,400 as of July 1st, 2018. The city of Richmond is 4.3 square miles. Hilmar Moore was the mayor from the year 1949 until his death in 2012. He made history as one of the longest serving elected officials in the United States.  

Education

Richmond’s school district is the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. There are three elementary schools within the Richmond city limits. They is the Jane Long Elementary School, the T.L. Pink Elementary School and the Deaf Smith Elementary school. The Wessendoff Middle School and Lamar Junior High School serve the sixth to eighth grade students. The Lamar Consolidated High School is the high school for students in ninth to twelfth grade. These schools all fall within the Richmond city limits but there are other schools outside the Richmond limits that have Richmond addresses but do not serve the actual city.
