From the end of May until the end of September the daily average high is just below 90 degrees. The low for this time is close to the high during the cold season coming in at 74 degrees. There are times during the winter months when the temperature can drop to 29 degrees, but for the most part it usually hovers around the 43 degree mark. During the summer months there have been days where the temperature has reached 97 degrees but again, this does not tend to happen very often. Even though it does get cold here, Ponchatoula does not tend to receive any snowfall which is great if you are someone who likes to live in a snow free zone. But, Ponchatoula does receive more than 63 inches of rain per year which is significantly higher than the US average of just under 40 inches.
