In North Port there is one public charter school as well as five elementary schools, two middles and one high school. The Imagine School at North Port is the lone charter school in the area and is available for children in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. When it comes to higher education in North Port there are a few options in the greater Sarasota area as well as other areas of Florida. There is the Ringing College of Art and Design located in Sarasota. Keiser University, State College of Florida, Suncoast Technical College, University of Phoenix and the University of South Florida Sarasota – Manatee.
New Home to the Atlanta Braves
One of the biggest things happening in North Port is the addition of a Spring Training facility for the Atlanta Braves. The stadium will be open for the 2020 baseball season and is expected to cost approximately $125 million to construct and span about 70 acres. It will hold 8,500 people once construction is completed in late 2019. The Atlanta Braves made the decision to extend their contract with Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex where they have been training at since 1997 so there would be enough time for construction to take place at the new facility.
