Newnan is a city located in the Coweta County, Georgia, about 40 miles from Downtown Atlanta. As part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area, the city has had a tremendous growth in population in the past two decades, going from 16,000 people in 2000 to over 41,000 in 2010.
The city of Newnan was founded in 1828, named after General Daniel Newnan, who would later become Georgia Secretary of State and a US congressman. The city has also been experiencing a rapid commercial development, with its newest addition being Ashley Park, an open-air shopping mall near I-85.
