Goodyear is located in Maricopa County, Arizona and has an estimated population of roughly 78,000. This suburb of Phoenix was the third fastest growing city in Arizona between the year 1990 and the beginning of the millennium. According to the United States Census Bureau, Goodyear is a little more than 191 square miles in size. Back in 1917 Goodyear was established when the “Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company” purchased 16,000 acres of land here. They acquired the land in order to cultivate cotton for vehicle tire cords. Then on November 19th, 1946 Goodyear became a town. The weather here rarely goes below freezing during the winter, but it can go above 110 during the summer months. Snow is a very rare occurrence here, but it has snowed on a few random occasions here during the winter months. What is wonderful about Goodyear is that this area gets more than 300 sunny days a year which is great if you like to do outdoor activities.
Goodyear Ballpark
Here in Goodyear there is something special for baseball fans. The Goodyear Ballpark is a baseball complex that is the spring training home of both the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians. The stadium is owned by the city of Goodyear and has a capacity of about 10,300. This stadium is a major attraction for many here in Goodyear and also hosts various events throughout the year here such as seasonal festivals and a Fourth of July extravaganza.
