Celina is located in both Colin and Denton counties in Texas. The population here back at the time of the 2000 census was just 1,861. Then at the 2010 the population shot up to 6,028. According to the United States Census Bureau, Celina is approximately 14.2 square miles in size with 0.02 square miles of that being water. Running North/South through the town is State Highway 289 which is known to locals as “Preston Road.” It starts close to Downtown Dallas and ends near Sherman. The great thing about Celina is that it is located between Downtown Dallas and the Oklahoma border. This area of Texas is mostly farm and ranch land and most parts are very flat which offers up some awesome views of the rolling terrain. The climate here in Celina is categorized as “Humid Subtropical.” This means that the winters will be cold and often times windy and the summer will be hot and muggy. The hot season here lasts for about three and a half months. From the beginning of June until mid September the daily average high is just about 87 degrees. The average low for this time is a very comfortable 75 degrees. The cool season here lasts for exactly three months. From November 25th until February 25th the daily average high is just about 62 degrees. The average low for this time is a chilly 35 degrees. Although it gets pretty cold here in the winter you will rarely see snow here. The average snow fall is just about an inch per year which is pretty much just a dusting. The average rainfall here is the exact same as the US average coming in at 39 inches per year. This area of Texas is a great place to live due to the great weather as well as the abundant amount of sunshine. On average there are more than 235 days of sunshine here which is a month more than the national average of 205!

The Celina Independent School District serves the youth of Celina. There is one primary school which serves students in grades pre-k and kindergarten. There are two elementary schools, “Celina Elementary School” and “Odell Elementary.” These elementary schools serve children in grades one through five. Then there is the “Celina Middle School” for students in the sixth grade as well as the “Celina Junior High School” for students in grades seven and eight. Finally there is the “Celina High School” for students in grades nine through twelve. This high school has one of the best athletic programs in all of Texas! If your child is into sports, Celina is a great place to raise them because the “Celina High School” is known for producing students who not only excel in the classroom, but also on the field. A majority of the students who go here have earned athletic scholarships to college. Sports are a very big part of this community.
