Fort Worth Texas is the 16th largest city in the United States and has been voted as one of the best places in the country to conduct business. It also has more than 800,000 residents and the number continues to grow by the day. The city is rich with culture and history; back in 1849 it was established as an Army outpost when it was known as a “Cowtown” due to the cattle drive. Fort Worth is also referred to as “the place where the West begins.” Fort Worth prides itself so much on their cattle production that they actually have several museums dedicated to the heritage of the cattle industry. You can choose from either The Cowgirl Museum, The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, The Cattle Raisers Museum or the Cattleman’s Museum to name just a few. These museums will immerse you in the history of how Fort Worth and how it became a leader in cattle production. One of the most interesting pieces of information about Fort Worth is that back in 1963, President John F. Kennedy gave his last public speech here shortly before his untimely death.
There is plenty to do here in Fort Worth if you’re looking for a little adventure. You can take a trip to Six Flags Over Texas which is the biggest theme park in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. You can also visit the Fort Worth Zoo which was founded back in 1909, making it the first zoo in Texas and featured only a handful of animals. Today it is home to more than 7,000 types of animals both native and exotic. This zoo has also been featured in “Family Life” magazine as one of the top zoos in the nation. You can also take a day trip to The Fort Worth Stockyards. This historic district is located North of the central business district; it is more than 98 acres in size. The Stockyards Museum can be found here where admission is economical. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10am until 5pm. This historic museum showcases the Fort Worth Stockyards and the culture behind them. If theme parks, zoos, and museums aren’t your thing then have no fear. The AT&T Stadium, which is home to the Dallas Cowboys, is a great place to watch a game in one of the 100,000 seats inside this massive stadium with a retractable roof. The retractable roof allows the team to play in inclement weather and during the colder months. The stadium is a short drive from Fort Worth and is the place to be during football season.
