Cape Coral is located in Lee County, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. The city was founded back in 1957 and became incorporated in 1970. The population has grown significantly in recent years. This city also has a few accolades to its name. Back in 2016 Forbes Magazine named Cape Coral as one of the 25 best places to retire to in the United States. Cape Coral ranked ninth on that list. Then in 2017 Cape Coral made Forbes list again but this time they were ranked as the number one fastest growing city in the United States.

Cape Coral has a subtropical climate. This city also sees more than 355 days of sunshine throughout the year. But there is some precipitation as well, it rains here on average 145 days per year here. The city will experience around 56 inches of rain per year. The city will experience the most rainfall during June through September. Roads, Bridges and Public Transportation
There are two bridges that connect Cape Coral to Fort Myers. Cape Coral Bridge connects Cape Coral Parkway to College Parkway in Fort Myers. This bridge is approximately 3,400 feet long. The second bridge is The Midpoint Memorial Bridge. This bridge connects Veterans Parkway to Colonial Boulevard. There are several other bridges here in Cape Coral that can connect you to various points of interest. When it comes to public transit there is the LeeTran which is a bus service that has six stops within Cape Coral. There are many roads here in Cape Coral as well. Interstate 75 is one of the main roads within the Cape. This interstate connects Cape Coral to Tampa in the Northward direction as well as Miami – Fort Lauderdale in the Southeastward direction. There is more than 1,100 miles of roadways here and most roads have four lanes or more. Cape Coral has quick access to Southwest Florida International Airport. This airport is only 14 miles away from Cape Coral.
Economy and Education
The economy here in Cape Coral revolves around three major industries; retail, real estate/construction as well as health care services. There are a few major employers here in Cape Coral as well. Publix Supermarkets, Walmart and the Lee Memorial Hospital are just a few of the major employers here. There are also tons of smaller businesses and mom and pop shops that really help boost the local economy here in Cape Coral. When it comes to education, the Lee County School District oversees all the schools in this area. There are eight elementary schools, six middle schools and five high schools here. The city is constantly expanding and recently built a municipal charter school which is made up of two elementary schools, one middle and one high school. This charter school is a public school which means it is tuition free but is only accessible to children who live in Cape Coral.
