Aventura is a small town just north of Miami, Florida. With an area of 3 square miles and a total population of approximately 35,000 people, the city is located in the South Atlantic Coast near the southern tip of the Florida Peninsula. Many of the residents live here only seasonally during the winter months, with a good percentage of the residents originating from Latin America.
Aventura is quite a young city, having been planned and developed in the 1970s, and only incorporated by the State of Florida in 1995. The Tropical climate makes it for hot and humid summers and short, warm and dry winters. The wet season is usually during the summer, coinciding unfortunately with the hurricane season. The last record of a storm coming through the town was in 2005, when Hurricane Wilma did some serious damage to Aventura.

The proximity to Miami makes it for an excellent choice for those willing to commute to work every day, as the town is only 12 miles away from the big city. The city of Aventura is home to the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center, which always brings to town plays and concerts for the community to enjoy. There is also the Town Center Aventura, where you can shop, dine and enjoy family-friendly entertainment.
When it comes to education, Aventura’s system is still being developed. For many years, the town had only one K-8 charter school, the Aventura City of Excellence School (ACES), which has been featured in the Top 10 Best schools of Florida. Now Aventura residents can attend ACES or Waterways K-8 Center. For public schools, students can be enrolled in North Miami Beach, which offers a variety of elementary, middle and high schools.
Aventura is also home to Aventura Mall, the fifth largest mall in the United States.
