Located northeast of Atlanta, Cleveland is a city in and the county seat of White County in the state of Georgia. The community, which covers a total area of 3.2 square miles (entirely made up of land), is home to about 4,000 people. It boasts of a very rich history.

 

The City of Cleveland was named in honor of General Benjamin Cleveland, who was a key figure in the War of 1812. Cleveland was the grandson of Colonel Benjamin Cleveland, who was himself a figure in the Revolutionary War. The community was established in 1857 as the seat of White County, which was created around the time. It was incorporated as a town in 1870. The City of Cleveland was incorporated in 1949.

 

This small city, which boasts of a great spirit of community, is home to an estimated total of about 4,000 residents. The population in 2015 was estimated at 3,773, representing a rise of more than 10 percent above the level five years earlier. Although the median age of residents was calculated at just 32 years, Cleveland had a significant number of middle-aged individuals as residents as of 2000.

Cleveland is known as the home of the Babyland General Hospital, where the original Cabbage Patch Kids dolls are made by native Xavier Roberts. Major attractions near the city include the Unicoi Wine Trail, which features several wineries and tasting rooms.
