Positioned within the Indian Trails Improvement District, Loxahatchee is a medium-sized community in Palm Beach County, Florida. It is located to the north of Wellington, west of West Palm Beach, and northwest of Royal Palm Beach. It is named after the Loxahatchee River, whose name is said to have been derived from a Seminole Indian word meaning “turtle creek.”
The racial and ethnic composition of Loxahatchee is very diverse. The community’s major ancestries include Irish, German, English, Italian, Jamaican and Haitian.
