Our home is located in Brentwood Estates, one of the nicest subdivisions in the valley and in the best possible location. Lots of good, helpful people will be your neighbors. We spent our working life here raising a family and couldn't have asked for a better spot. Now that it's time for us to enjoy some retirement, we would be proud to make our home yours. There are many nicely kept homes in Brentwood and we believe ours to be one. We've made a number of improvements and feel the home is nicer than ever. There are many large homes in Brentwood, in fact, it is hard to find a normal sized home yet, here is one. So, if you don't need a big home with a big mortgage, this home may be just right for your family. ***Location Location Location This home has one of the most perfect valley locations imaginable. The home is located one mile from Walmart and Sears and less than two miles from the new Valley Medical center with no need to drive the Parks Highway as you can just take the frontage road to these locations. Lowes and Brown Jug are two miles away and so is the Fire Station at the corner of Seward Meridian and the Palmer Wasilla Highway. It is four miles to the heart of Wasilla and a little less to Three Bears bulk store. Serrano drive connects between the Parks Highway and the Palmer Wasilla Highway making it very easy to access either. There is a postal contract station at the Palmer Wasilla Highway just 0.8 mile away. If you work in Anchorage choosing to live in the valley is a choice between small cramped lots and expensive housing verses full sized acre lots with room to spread out and save some money. We made this choice years ago and are glad we did. And, if you are commuting to Anchorage this is one of the easiest valley commutes around, just 36 miles to Sears in Anchorage down a smooth, well lite, four lane all the way. Not like the old days! ***Children If you have children you will love this area. Lot's of playmates everywhere so you don't have to drive to find friends for you children. And, the school bus stops in front of your door. All our daughter's years of school she never had to wait outside for the bus. You can watch it coming down the road with plenty of time to head out and get on. Cottonwood Elementary school is just 2 miles away on Seward Meridian next to the fire station. Middle School will be Teenland and High school will be Colony High. ***Room Description With a southern exposure and a lot of glass on the south wall, you can count on a bright sunny living & dining room. The kitchen is open design with a breakfast bar so the bright warm sun also lights up the kitchen. The kitchen, dining area and both entryways are tile for easy cleaning, you don't have to worry about you or the kids tracking in mud water or snow. We loved the kitchen when we bought the house. Larger than most and the open design makes everyone feel like they are always together even when mom is cooking. The kitchen also has tile accents. There is a loft above the kitchen which is just right for a den or sewing area or a computer desk study area. The living room has a fieldstone wood stove area and chimney if you would like a cozy wood fire. The living room and dining area have a single pitch roof design similar to a vaulted ceiling creating a open roomy feeling. The master bedroom has it's own bathroom with a real marble vanity top. The bathrooms have tile floors and tile accents. ***Garage The garage is big and roomy and has all kinds of storage space. There is a loft area for additional storage and access to the attic and even more storage. There is a set of large storage shelves and a heavy duty work bench just waiting for your first project. Talk about storage, after years of living you collect awe, stuff. There are two lockable outside storage areas under roof so you don't have to get wet to use them. You will have room to keep your garage space open to park your cars so you will have a nice warm car in the morning with no ice to scrap. ***Yard The home has a large south facing deck for barbecuing and enjoying the outdoors. Of course one thing about Alaska is that it isn't always sunny. Still we like to be outside when we can, including sometimes pretty late and early in the year. The home has an area of the deck with a covered roof that is tucked in a corner out of the wind for just such a use. We just love it, and no more running in every time it sprinkles. We put a couch out there and couldn't imagine why we ever sat on those hard old lawn chairs. The yard is designed to afford you privacy. Rimmed with trees along Serrano Drive and the neighboring yards you can enjoy yourself outside and hardly ever be seen. Behind the house is more than a half acre of woods that can be accessed on foot or from an adjacent subdivision road. We always planned to do some trimming and turn it into our own little park. It's a great place for kids to play. Our daughter use to have her own toboggan slide before discovering makeup. A nice place to trim and put a family picnic table. Old Mr. bunny has lived in the brush pile there for years and during the winter the moose come in and sleep along with some spruce hens.
